I everyone I got my Xperia s for some time now and I just noticed that most off the apps I install are stored in the phone memory rather than the internal storage also I cant move the apps as I get an an error that the app could not be moved???

setting > application > manage application > look for apps that you like to move > tab the move to internal storage
if move to internal storage does not highlight, mean that the app are not meant to running on internal storage, look for other apps
Apps that can not be moved has to do with the app development not with the phone, also when using a widget of the app the app cant be moved.
You can always try app2sd of course

When you select an app to be stored in the Multimedia, is this app stored on the internal sd or external sd, I supouse is stored in the internal by default if so is there a way to change it to the ext sd?
Select Menu on home screen > Manage Apps > select the app you wish to move to SD > select "Move to Media Area"
It will move to the desired location and in turn give you the option of moving back to phone.
It's stored on the internal sd card (multimedia). I haven't found a way to change that. There is an option in Titanium Backup that lets you pick whether to move an app to the internal or external sd card, but I've never tried it.

Hello,
I was installing several games and apps today, and in the end i have under 200mb of free space, but on the sd card i have about 28gb free space... Is there any way to "transfer" the installed apps and games data to the sd card?
Tks
No, not until we get either root or (I believe but I may be wrong) ICS will we be able to install apps to the external SD card. You can put movies, music, pictures and whatever else you want on there so make sure you do, and save as much space as possible on the internal 16gb usb storage for apps cause you're gonna need it!
Some apps and games will let you transfer. Go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications, then click on the application and select transfer to sd card if it will allow it

I think this will still leave it on ram as it won't trancfer to sdcard2 - that's what it looks like to me.
I can't install app on my sony xperia , it say i need more space but my internal memory still have about 20gb free, can someone help me solve this
I think you are confusing 2 things.
The 20GB you are talking about can only be used for storing music, photos, ...
As far as i know, you only have about 1.5 to 1.6GB available for installing apps.
If you are running ICS, you can check this by going to settings => apps => select the 'downloaded' tab at the top. At the bottom of your screen it then says how much of the memory you have already used and how much is left.
Hope this helps.
so is there anyway i can use that 20gb to install apps and games
Yes
Move the apps to the internal storage memory(20gb one)
You can find it in settings>Apps>select the app you want to move and move it to internal storage.
Click thanks button if you find this info useful

I bought Galaxy SIII just 5 days ago and installed Omega v11 rom with SiyahKernel v1.4.I started installing apps to test my quad-core phone(Gangstar Rio,Asphalt 7,Modern Combat 3,Mass Effect Inflitrator etc..) ,when i noticed all the appdata were installed at the internal sd(mainly Android/data and Android/obb).I want to have that huge amount of data on my external and not interal sd.If move an app's data to external after it has downloaded them already, the app downloads them again.
If you do a search in the forum, it has been stated that you cannot run apps from your external sd card, with other android phones all you need is a app called app2sd, there are many for free in the play store.
I use gl to sd from the play store. Once moved you then news to open up the games from within the app or once in the app, select mount and hit the home button. Then open apps as normal. Its mainly for gameloft games (gl) but in settings there are also options to move data from the android / data folder as well as select your own custom folders.
There are a few others out there but this was my favourite.

It only works with games or apps that has the option to store additional data to ext. sd.
I think I heard about this in another thread.
Directory Bind. It will not move APKs themselves, but it will move the large data directories for games etc. that you're on about to the external card and correctly set up a bind mount so that it looks like the folder can be found on the internal card. If you use it, save yourself some time and enable the alternative database (something like that) option in its settings.
If you have root and partitioned sd card you have to instal link2sd. This will move the application to the second partition of the sd and creates a link to it. This will help the phone to recognize it as it would be installed on phone but really it would be on sd.
Like a shortcut in windows.

It doesn't move the app to the external card, only the data which is what the OP is asking. The apps themselves are tiny compared to the data, eg 9mm which has data of 2gb. Worked perfect on my S2 and now S3. Moved close to 20gb of data to the external card.
Directory Bind is also good but it would remove settings for me after a reboot. Maybe I was doing something wrong.

you probably misunderstood me, when I say games and apps, i mean as a whole, whether its a game or application download from play store, and not as a individual.
This is also the case with app2sd, the actual program is still in the phone, while the data is in the ext.sd.
thank u for your answers!i will check both glstosd and directorybind and report back...just to clarify,i want to move the applications data, like android/data,android/obb,gameloft to external, not the application itself
Lately my phone seems to be miscalculating my internal storage space. You can see in the PIC that although under 500MB of space has been used there is only 36MB left out of 1.97GB.
I have tried wiping data and cache and starting again but eventually had the same issue again. There is literally hardly any apps on here now and its getting annoying not being able to sync Gmail or update apps!
Thanks!
1. Open the phone dialer app and enter *# 9900#
2. Select the 2nd option, "Delete dumpstate/logcat"
This will delete any unwanted log files and could free up a lot of internal storage.
