ok this is shameful as my first post but well what the hey....
I purchased a samsung s2 in november, and tbh I love it to bits. last week in manchester we had a bit of a heatwave and upon getting home I put my phone on charge. after giving it a 30 min charge to sync to my computer I noticed my phone was stuck on the boot screen so I took out the battery and tried again. I did this a total of 11 times, and still stuck on the boot screen. so I went into the recovery settings and tried a soft reset, that did not work, so I did a factory reset in which it came up with could not mount E: I left it like that for an hour before taking it to the local mobile phone shop in denton named U&E connexions as I needed the phone for an emergency. two days later I get a call from the shop saying that there was nothing that they could do and for me to pick up the phone. Upon scouring the net for a solution I came across this forum and proceeded to find out about firmware flashing. so I initiated the download process on my sg2 and noticed the the binary was set to custom and that the download counter was showing the number 4. I found out that my warranty was void if the download counter shows any number, and contacted the shop who responded that there is nothing that they can do. so I purchased a mini usb jig to try and erase the download but to no avail. upon speaking with a couple of friends they said that it could possibly be a corrupt partition due to not being able to flash anything to the phone. Any help or advice would sincerely be appreciated.
I'm not experienced with this , but until some help comes I will share what I've tried .
I once messed with phone when flashing a ROM ,
so I did opened phone in download mode ( it run on download mode I don't know your phone can boot the download mode or not )
then connected to PC , ran odin , marked repartation and choosed a Pit file for my s2 ( by checking this you may wind up with bricked phone but for me it was already not working )
then I tried flashing a stock GingerBread ROM with PDA , PHONE and CSC files . aslo checked phone bootuploader update ( really Don't know why for but I checked it )
and clicked start ,it took its time , then, the mobile was back to life again .
anything you will do is on your responsibility . i just want to share what I did

I think you may check for different versions of Odin ,also be sure that pit file is choosen , and it is the right one and aslo the PDA , as in the link .
ok no luck still.. I'd just like to thank everyone for their help on this issue.
Not sure if you want to try this but perhaps you can try flashing to the original stock rom first?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
if it boots up you again you can use triangle away to assist resetting the counter to 0.
it seems that my phone has the emmc bug. hence as to the corrupt nand rw permissions. I've tried flashing the stock rom using odin and heimdall and still no luck.
Gonna take my phone to carphone warehouse and tell them that my phone suffered the bug after doing a soft reset followed by factory reset. hopefully they dont notice the odin download count.
well they noticed the download count. is there anyway that I can kill the phone so that it does not show the download count or anything. I might be able to get a replacement that way. :s
Absolutely not. That falls under the "don't get us (XDA) in trouble" rule here.

use USB JIG simple :fingers-crossed:
I've tried the usb jig and it will only allow me to go into download mode, but the emmc bug will not allow me to downgrade the bootloader. or do any firmware flashing other than kernal flash.
hmm.. is you able to go into recovery mode if yes them flash SiyahKernel v3.3.2 and try to do system format if no then try Ultimate Kernel Cleaning Script
good luck :fingers-crossed:
edit and if you abe to go into recovery mode then select download mode from recovery (SiyahKernel) and try to flash rom again :

XDA does not condone fraud, and that's what you're discussing here. No more.

Hi guys
I have done my basic research on all the forum room and can't find a answer to my problem.
I have Samsung S3 , I have not rooted or flash the device , I have not install any apps for the pass 2 months , for some reason today my device restarted and then got stuck on boot screen "Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300" , am totally new to android and only had my device 9 months.
from all the basic searches I have done , I have try pressing vol key up + Home Key + power key) nothing happen
I tried : Switch off the device.
Press and hold Volume Up + Home Button + Power Key.
After 2-3 seconds, release the Power Key.
nothing happens here either this suppose to do a hard reset
I have taken the battery out , re-inserted the battery hold the power key for 10secs and I still don't get any where
each attemp I only get the boot screen the only luck I have had was by pressing the vol key down + home key + power key , i get the downloading Rom and this obviously does nothing as I can't get to the internet via wireless
please someone helpme the last person who posted this type of topic on this forum room did not get any replies.
I am sure I am not the only one who has experience this problem.
I am with three network if that makes any differents
thanks for your support.
Search 'sudden death' - you'll find more on it there
I has this problem with mine - I ended up taking it to Samsung for repair under warranty: it was a mother board replacement
it is however possible that you could fix it
Cn you get into download mode? (home + power + vol down)
if you can get to download mode ^^^ post above then all is well all you need to do is flash stock rom.
Getting into download mode is good news, Now plug your phone in to your computer, launch ODIN, and flash the correct stock firmware.
Thank you guys for your prompt reply , I have decided to take the device back to Car phone Warehouse as it is still under warrantee , I don't want to risk the manufacture guarantee. On this note I will like to salute all those geek's who have rooted their phones. :cyclops:

welcome in the emmc burned club - you are number ???
Flashing stock rom - chainfire tar - recovery tar - or whatever wont help you, i made a thread about it, no matter what you get "cant get pit" when you flash in odin
Sorry bR0 - seams like samsung made a MAJOR hardware error here - makes me thinking twice again before buying a sammy phone again, its a pitty cose it really is the nicest phone out there - maybe htc phones dont do this crap.. dont now
And since you haven't rooted or even flashed it, it proves just further that this is no "soft" problem but only faulty hardware !!!
Here is my link to tar files >http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2019902
And just so you now, flashing a rom DONT void your guarantee, in EU at least, its a proven court judgment ! > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1998801
Urgent illegal advice required on 'sudden death'
Hi all /comrades
Four days ago I decided that I had to take Samsung Galaxy S3 to Carphone warehouse for repairs as the phone was still under manufacture warrantee , I did not wanted to go via the rooted / flashing my ROM . well guess what happen.
Carphone Warehouse Engineer total me the following and I quote " Please read notes , unfortunately handset returned unrepaired due to device rooted thought custom firmware, we have provided photo evidence. this is classed as Chargeable repair , please speak to one of the sales team to verify the cost of charge if you wish to take this ."
okay the photo screen that they gave me was of the one where you hold the volume button done + Home screen + power button and you get the Android stating its downloading on the top left side system status : custom and its this point he make out to me that I try to root or have rooted my phone.
as you all know I haven't got a clue on how to root or flash a phone never mind doing it.
I need your help , I am going to take Carphone Warehouse Ltd to Small courts to claim the cost of my phone and line rental back , How do I prove to the hight court that I actually did not root my device and Carphone Warehouse was trying to claim extra cash from me.
please all techie help me.

It sounds like SDS to me, service is your only option.
The good news is that if you cannot get into download mode at service they can't check the binary counter.

1- Switch your phone off.
2- Press Volume Up + Home Button + Power.
3- When on, release power, but keep on Vol Up and Home.
4- Wipe factory settings.
5- Reboot.
6- Enjoy.
But keep informed, rooting your device increases the flash counter, which forces a message of having "custom" firmware, which can void your warranty.
---------- Post added at 08:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:18 PM ----------
But what do you mean by that "Odin" is not working? Does it recognize the device when connected by showing "COM:**"?

Not sure about that. OP stated he flashed wrong file via Odin. That probably did it.
Hi.
Please read all of what I tried before suggesting something.
I have a S3 GT-I9300 international version. It's from Orange Israel and its warranty recently ended.
All of what I tried below has been done with the phone in the Download mode by turning it while holding the power, volume down and the home key, there is absolutely nothing else this phone can do, if I just normally power it on it'll get stuck on the Samsung Galaxy S3 screen, I can't even get to the animated Samsung logo. Kies is uninstalled completely and I have no AV.
Now here is what I tried so far:
1. Most forums said that I could try a regular flash via Odin by inserting the firmware.md5 file into the PDA section and flashing it, but that just makes Odin get stuck on the process (Setup Connection...) or give me this error [1st screenshot from the left]
2. I also tried attaching the .pit file for my 16GB S3 named (GT-I9300_mx_20120220.pit) alone but that makes Odin get stuck on this process as well [2nd screenshot from the left]
3. I tried attaching both .md5 and .pit files at the same time but it just also gets stuck on the (Setup Connection...) forever. And when I say stuck I don't mean Odin stops responding, I mean it just hangs on that process.
4. I looked in forums even more and they suggested I try different USB ports or cables and I did, still nothing.
5. I tried different Odin versions for all of the things I already tried.
6. I tried flashing different firmware versions for all of the things I already tried.
7.1. I downloaded Heimdall Suite and I tried to use it since a guy mentioned it helped him immensely by him just installing the drivers using the "zadig.exe" file and choosing his S3 from the All Devices list and installing the driver, however I encounter something different because the program has Replace Driver option that gives me this error [3rd screenshot from the left]
7.2. I later discovered that I can install the driver anyway by clicking the arrow next to the button and choosing Install WCID driver, that worked successfully, however it hasn't solved my problem like the guy on the forum, for him, the S3 started to get recognized by Odin and it flashed his device successfully, for me, it still gave me that error.
8. After I installed the driver from Zadig I launched Heimdall Suite in hopes of finally flashing my device but it gave me this error when trying to load up the .md5.gz [4th screenshot from the left]
9. I then proceeded to add the .pit file I downloaded earlier into the Flash tab in Heimdall tool and adding the boot.img because I think that should be enough to get it going, plus I don't know what else to put. It gave me this error [5th screenshot from the left]
I'll keep updating this post when I try new stuff, however I would like you guys to suggest things I haven't tried before or supply me with files I haven't found already (.pit files, firmwares I'm not aware of, etc.). Would appreciate any little help of sorting this problem out, the warranty ended so I don't know what am I gonna do if I don't get it fixed :/
Thanks.

Yep sounds bricked. If that's the case, send for repair. Your NAND is probably borked.
Out of interest, what does all the info on the screen say in download mode?

The problem with the S3 is that there really aren't many options before the last option. From what I can see, you have already tried them all.
It tells me you haven't got SDS, but we already knew you had a NAND issue, regardless of that. It was just a matter of interest.

I didn't mention that I also tried all of what I tried with Kies installed.
And it is SDS, I was just browsing through photos and the phone just locked up and restarted and couldn't get passed the GALAXY S3 flash screen, which is why I started trying all this crap, including flashing PIT. And the symptoms and behavior of the phone hasn't changed since the first time it restarted on me. So I definitely didn't change ANYTHING to the phone whatsoever.

It could be SDS. We've seen a few failures like this where download mode doesn't show SDS symptoms. It doesn't mean the result is not SDS. Its uncomfirmable.
SDS possible , Nand damaged itself possible but 90% of problems are user error .
That error is often in trying to smash their way out of trouble avoiding the simple correct method and throwing everything at the phone .Following stuff from multiple forums then asking help on XDA at the end when it is to late .
Whatever you have done in the past right or wrong does not matter it is now a service centre job .
Samsung generally offer 24 months limited warranty but would be likely to reject due to custom rom count .

Hello everybody,
I have ran into lot of issues in my Samsung Galaxy S3 I-9300. I bought it from UK(unlocked) two years ago.
The issue started with the recharge issues. It shows as it is charging but it doesn't charge and some times the battery suddenly increases by 30-50% on phone restart. And then one day I started encountering phone restart issue. I started losing files that I had copied or created during those times on my external SD card. I once saw that I had android robot fallen with red exclamation mark in the recovery screen. And then one day my phone won't go ahead of Samsung logo so I did a factory reset. After factory reset I thought everything will be fine but still I had few issues so I installed Kies and did a firmware upgrade from the Samsung site. But the recovery robot was still down with red exclamation mark. I thought rooting will help me in fixing it so I rooted the phone but no help. I finally installed stock recovery from odin and it fixed it. Everything looked fine. But I still had files getting deleted from SD card and phone auto restart issue. And recharging issue resurfaced as well and I was not able to recharge from wall charger. I had to switch off my mobile and recharge it from USB cable. I keep it overnight for approx. 8-9 hours at a stretch ans still charging would be around 60-70%. Yesterday my phone restarted on its own and now its getting stuck at Galaxy logo screen. Its not even going to Samsung screen. I can't go to recovery mode but I can still go to download mode. I tried installing stock recovery firmware today from odin and it failed. I can install stock image from odin but I want some solution as I can't keep on doing it again and again.
P.S: I did factory reset twice and after factory reset every time I restart few old applications were getting installed automatically which I had not selected.
Please help me guys.
Update:
Tried flashing stock recovery and stock rom. Nothing worked. Have took capture of the ODIN screen to give more clear idea. Thanks.

Try the rescue firmware here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=30087735 << there are two versions you will find the pit file in the 4.1 version download. If this fails or issues come back then it will need service repair.

I agree he may have a battery problem but that would not explain all the other issues with Odin and recovery etc. I would still recommend flashing rescue firmware first before paying out for a new battery.
Yeah, I guess he might have some problems with his rom, but is kinda wierd too. Hey Crazy Access, have you tried access to recovery from an apk?, some of them do it, like Quick Reboot, or quick boot, search for them in Google play, take a look on it
Thanks for the replies tallman43 and adaltavo.
Adaltavo, my phone is not booting at all. It's not going beyond S3 screen to Samsung logo so I can't try recovery from any apk.
I am going to try recovery method in the link provided by tallman43 and will come back with the results.
Meanwhile, if you have any other tips do tell me.

You did not read the instructions in the rescue thread I gave you!! Are you seriously trying to brick your device? Why have you got nand erase all ticked in Odin this is a bad move where does it say to tick this!
Sorry to be harsh but you need to read instructions fully before attempting anything with your phone.Ttry again with Odin and follow the instructions exactly as posted in the screenshot in the rescue thread also maybe try Odin 1.85. But it looks like you have messed up your device even more. (Recommend Service repair) :crying:
Hi tallman. Thanks for the response. I actually downloaded the file from the link you gave, and there were four files but there was no pit file in it. So when I did search again in the forum for pit file I got another link where a user had the same problem and he did ticked the options so I tried that as well. And you were not harsh. It is irritating when you are trying to help and I didn't read the instructions carefully
I will try again and post results here.

If anyone know where this file is or where to find it, please tell me. However, if anyone have another better method, it would be great.
Thank you very much
PS. I apologize for my poor English, I hope you can understand.
Best Regards,
Thakoon
My problem is similar
My problem is similar, however I can still get into the downloading mode, I have done all the possible ways (I know) via Odin but did not succeed, someone knows what can I do?
I have done: With Odin, try to install the original ROM (stock), over and over different roms, however when I tried to format the device's internal memory using the PIT file, Odin shows running PIT file, put the machine to restart it does not ask to install a custom ROM like, unfortunately it remains in the device home screen "Samsung Galaxi SIII GT-I9300", and not out of it.
Need help! please respond to us.
I think it is possible to unbrick but what do you mean with image file the Firmware or what.
And i think there is a possibility to start the recovery or Download Mode withoud using Buttons

Mostly all problems can be fixed with the Download Mode in samsung devices but can you try to flash a re-downloaded s3 Stock ROM becuase its maybe damaged file and check the MD5 or sh1 if you can(of the downloaded Stock ROM)
And you can also try to flash only a CMW or other Recovery with Odin and install a custom Rom easily with the Recovery // And trust me a S3 with Custom rom Like the CyanogenMod is definitely better than the Stock :good: faster to download and easier to Install:good:
I've tried before.

Hello Crazygamer0872, according to this >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2660566, he call it a debrick image. I honestly don't know what that 'image file' is but I think I should try this method, yet he didn't have 'image file' for i9300 international model. Or I should try another method like USB JIG?
I will give you more details about my bricked phone:
1. I was done successfully install rom Lollipop by Bliss team on my S3 (i9300) and it was fine. Then, I didn't use S3 for a while (I have another phone), I turn it off. Unfortunately, when I turn it on again, it is dead, no respond.

- can not open phone, actually it open but in a black screen - how I know it open? >> answer is I still hearing a notification sound.
- it don't show up anything, no boot samsung screen, no downloading mode screen show up (I have try this downloading mode and connect with Odin, no connect) and no recovery mode screen show up.
- when I plug in charger, no screen show up but it still light up a LED charging indicator.
Is the black screen glowing when you show at the screen while charging vor hearing the notification sounds. When it glows in black than its a Software Problem when not all is OK but your screen or the cable from the screen to the Platine is damaged
And sry for my Bad english
