I want unlock bootloader on my ray mostly because of overclock and now wont to now how much is really performance improvement with overclock, in other words does it pay of the risk of loosing warranty?
thx
Unlock bootloader and overclock only if you aren't satisfied with your current performance ... It surely sounds sweet but You will surely void your warranty by overclocking.... If you are a new bie then I don't recommend overclocking because you may brick your device or worst burn your CPU... It is must to have enough basic android experience such as rooting first.

I am not new i have ray half year now and i was have x8 for 1 year before ray and it was have unlock bootloader, custom kernel, overclock and many other mods, i know android pretty well, i just want to ask someone who overclocked ray is he sadisfied with performance and does it worth
Okay so go ahead ... I don't have ray but walkman .. I've overclocked it and its worth it...

If u unlock ur bootloader it will void ur warranty. It will be good if u overclock it, like others say.
I've seen some reports about ppl burning their phones because of OC....
I would not really recommend it. 1GHz is enough for your phone being smooth.
But if you must OC it, be careful and don't overdo it. Don't OC to like 1.6GHz - 1.8GHz like some sorry dumbasses do.
After all It's better to have a working phone then a burned one
I'm not trying to be a smartass here, just trying to make you think twice before doing it
According to my experience 100mhz =+2 max fps u can use supercharger v6,built.prop n init.d tweaks these won't affect your phone's life
Sent from my LT15i using xda app-developers app
Yeah, already did all of that
Ive seen a guy in antutu. He is using stock 2.3.4 oc=2.0gGhz he got 6000+ score!! That's half of galaxy s3 running on stock
Sent from my LT15i using xda app-developers app
you can relock bootloader
i'm on 1.6 GHz on JellyBean on xperia mini and it is stable
I clocked my phone to 1.5Ghz and this is more than perfect. I don't have fps issues in games anymore (at least those I've played yet) and the phone doesn't seem to be too hot. It feels more like charging the battery, so I think there's no problem.
What abt nova 3 multiplayer??

I'm sure his phone enjoyed the 10 minutes of powerful life it had before going into service!
Whatis the max safe overclock freq to run nova 3 multiplayer smoothly??I've found that after installing chainfire I've seen huge graphic improvement which reduced performance but after uninstalling cf graphics were decreased but gaming was lot smoother, could you please tell me how dalvik.vm.heapsize works for games

It consumes more battery to gain more performance. Set it to higher if u want to play big games. But it will drain battery more

What about dalvil.VM?can I gain smoother performance by increasing it?

On my DX Android OS eating about one fourth of the battery while the other values are similar to yours and the device spending about 80 percent of time in deep sleep. Do I have to set anything to get better results?
Hi everybody...dont know if this is the correct forum to ask this question, but here it is
Everytime i try to benchmark while on performance governor, my benchmark is low, and when i go to setcpu to check it, i see it went from 1800mhz to 800...anybody could tell me why, and if there is any possibility to fix it, i'd appreciate if you could help me.
Best regards

Easy fix- dont bother with benchmarks, they are a waste of time
Update your rom too
Yes i know they are a waste of time, but i was curious how much could i get on quadrant bench. I update my rom frwquently and same problem from stock to custom ones
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Quadrant does not work properly .
You want a big score just use paintshop .

Hey!! Im running wannamlite latest rom with yank-s laatest kernel and just from curiosity I ran a benchmark test with Antutu, and my score was horrible, around 9800...and i saw that the gs3 has over 12-13000 ...what is my problem?

Benchmarks are unreliable ..
You have a custom rom and a custom kernel .
So why are you not asking the question in the relevant threads ???
jje
I never trusted benchmarks, but this one is so damn low.
Because I can ask almost everything I want in this thread. In rom/kernel thread just a part of the users answers, here a lot more people are watching so I might have extra chances xD.
Don't worry about benchmarks. Add long as real feel feels fast and not laggy then everything should be good
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
But it does!Whatever rom/kernel I use, after like 2-3 days of use it becomes laggy.
I don't have more than 30 apps installed :-/
Last time I benchmarked I hit 17,000
International S III 16GB / CM10.1 / Gokhan's SK
Daft I know but do you have power saving on?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
nope,no power saving on.

Ok there are still other things you can do. Maybe something is eating your cpu. Try using cpuspy or setcpu to see what clocks your using. If its at the highest clock all the time that could indicate a cpu hog.
See what processes are using those high clocks with top or another program run on the phone.
Most important though is to see what is actualy causing the low score, which part of the benchmark is causing low scores. Maybe IO or memory performance, cpu might be fine.

I've already flashed two kernels in hopes of overclocking my Note 1. On one, it hung at the Samsung screen and on the other it booted (after doing something with each app) but kept showing force close messages that I couldn't close.
I really want to overclock my phone because it freezes a lot.
Also, I haven't had any luck with radios, either. These flash okay, but with dramatically slower speeds. Right now, I get on avg. 10 mpbs, but I've seen people with upwards of 50.
How could I do these things? Thanks.
we need more info to help you. what rom you are running. carrier you are on. what methods of overclock you tried. more info, the better we can assist.

I'm running Blackstar XI with AT&T. And I've only tried flashing overclock kernels, with no success. SetCPU lets me underclock, but the current kernel doesn't let me OC.
Kind of the same with the radios. I've only tried flashing them, with no faster speeds.
Are there other methods then these ways?

Well hopefully your flashing correct kernels for whatever ROM your running first thing ... And the 50mbps is probably due to the LTE speeds tmo released in a few cities .. Kansas is one I know of .....and over clocking isn't always the best ... I underclock myself to help save battery ... I'm not calling you a noob by any means but read up on android news and check our forums and you will fins your answers I promise

Alright, thanks. Maybe it's best that I don't OC it. Thanks.
I'm not saying don't over clock I just don't cause of battery drain ...... You can just watch CPU temperature and be careful ...maybe don't over clock to max just a little bit like 1600 or something

The only kernel capable of over clocking right now is ptmr3s kernel but I believe it only works with that hong Kong firmware. There are older kernels that can over clock but won't work with the latest cm merges. Like Shane said don't max out most notes can't handle it I never go higher then 1792. Over clocking is great but I don't think we will see a over clock kernel any time soon maybe look into scripts and tweaks.

Correct. If you want fast charge and UC go with Chris's. I personally have no need for over clocking. Under clocking is more beneficial.

That's great that you guys under clock you must save a ton of battery for the performance you lose wonderful. However he's not asking about under clocking. Seeing how every one is giving there opinion I'll give mine do you really save that much batery ? I don't under clock because my battery life is acceptable and if my phone gets low I charge it whether I'm at home car wherever. do you guys not have to charge your phones every day? So what is the point?

Under clocking does not reduce performance. Mediocre gaming does not need 1.5ghz if you UC to 1.2/1.1 your performance will remain the same... Out of the extra hour of battery life that doesn't reduce performance its kind of a no brainer. Anyways stay on topic.

Unfortunately we all have to charge through out the day cause Samsung didn't think to put a huge battery in a huge phone Haha .... A 3100 sized battery would have been ideal .... But that's another topic .. As for over clocking I would love to go to about 1600 on the ROM I'm on but I have yet to find a overclockable kernel for 4.2.2 ..well phase is touchwiz right ?
