On my DX Android OS eating about one fourth of the battery while the other values are similar to yours and the device spending about 80 percent of time in deep sleep. Do I have to set anything to get better results?

[Q] Best ROM and kernel for battery life?

So ... What's the best kernel and rom for battery life?
I'm on toxic heroes 7 with bullet kernel.
Bali kernel is designed for battery efficiency, don't expect a flying machine though.
my galaxy extreme, did some good changes for battery and also added bali.... it was cuss i was using cm7 on the mytouch 4g and their battery is 1400 mah and i had x1000 better battery than our vibrant so i rebuilded my rom for bettery battery
Stock trigger 3.2 ... 15+ hours with heavy use...but I just got root and didnt try other ROMs or kernels..
Ok thanks.
I will try them out.
My battery sucks though ;p.
i have toxic 7 and battery life is really good re calibrate

benchmark question

So I got Samsung stock Rom I don't remember exactly and when I ran quadrant benchmark I got score like 6k the most of the score was the I/o
But now I installed check sum hd v4 and syhan kernel now my cpu score is high but the I/o is low
You forgot the question? Which is?

quadrant scores are nothing, they are obsolete. as long as you have smooth ui and bug free you are good to use it
After I installed evo check sum hd v4 the ui is much faster and more smooth battery is more good
But I'm just wondering why after I installed the custom Rom the I/o is low

it has more to do with a kernel than Rom itself

does the benchmark score very important for you ?

Yes?
They score my device I should care of it ??
The thing to remember about benchmarks is that while they "test" performance in various categories all they are really doing are arbitrary calculations testing how well your device performs running that specific benchmark software. Extrapolating these scores to real world performance is often quite useless and inaccurate. Don't place too much stock on benchmark scores and just feel for yourself if certain roms/kernels feel laggier or faster.

Add to the post above that Quadrant is useless .
Benchmarks vary from one run to another .
One of 9000 followed by one of 12200 is a non reliable benchmarking tool .

[Q] Battery Life with custom ROMs

Hi there,
i am new into this custom ROM stuff and i been trying few ROM and now i am on the UltimaROM 2.3.2
but Battery going down from 100 to 84 in short time
Which is the best to have more Battery
and is there anyway removing the default SMS app and use chompsms instead ?
Nothing is best here. Just keep experience yourself with different rom, kernel and tweaks to find the best battery performance for your phone.

These things depend on how you use your phone, but system and idle seem high on your list. Screen and talking are my top two. Batteries have so many variables. I would try different ROMs and kernels.

I am using the Stock Kernel but when i was installing the UltimaROM asked me which kernel do i want and had a list of kernels but where can i see what is the diff for each kernel ? i cant find such info ,

Go to page one General and you will find stickys .
Alternative is to read the kernel posts in development section .
Or even that new fangled idea google search .

I think stock kernal is probably your best bet for battery life...
Hi everyone!
1st post on xda, but I'm new in android world!
Anyway, I'm using Omega ROM v27.2 (JB)/stock kernel and I experienced some battery drain issues. After getting BBS, I didn't able to point out what was the cause.
After many readings, I found a possible solution: in advanced WiFi settings, they advised to disable "Keep WiFi on during sleep". By default it's set on "always". They advise to set it to "never" but I prefer set it to "only when plugged in". I think it's more logical!
I don't know yet if it's efficient but I'm trying this and I'll come back later to tell you.

you could use phenomenal kernel for better battery life. it is better than stock kernel in terms of battery life but you need to check compatibility with the custom rom you choose
Foxhound Essential .2 with latest siyah kernel
Best Battery life I ever tried - I've used Foxhound, Criskelo, and Omega JB roms but the Foxhound Essential is the fastest, ram free (430mb), best battery life performance around (8hours extensive use with mobile date turned on). Try it its great! Thanks

Try latest siyah kernel - plus Foxhound Essential ver .2 - No bloatware and best battery life performance..
I flashed Phenomenal Extreme kernel yesterday but to test it properly I have to wait for Monday when I'll be at work.
I'm not a fanatic of battery life, I just want to find the right mix between performance & battery life. For now, I found the phenom extreme not enough smooth, I'll probably change it for the medium one in few days.

Get betterbatterystats and check the wake locks! The default battery stats from our phone can't allow us to deduce whether there is an issue

My best results with battery life has been with Phenomenal Extreme and VikingROM. I got about 6 hours screentime with wifi, sync, and lots of gaming. Though i think you can make almost any rom or kernel last about 5-6 hours screentime if you check your running processes and apps running in the backround.
I hv tried lots of roms
Psycho rom XXDLJ1 v 0.0.1 is one of the best
it gives u maximum performance and an amazing battary life
Though you can flash different ROMS and kernels to experiment with battery performance, most reputable ROMS like AOKP or CM10 Wong yield much difference. Too many other variables. I've heard Trinity kernel is a good one, but I just got an extended battery. I found it to be the most sure way of extending battery life.

I've tried omega Rom and phenomenal kernel but these didn't really give me any more battery.
I found the stock kernel and Rom gave me the best battery performance at around 10 hours with WiFi on and surfing internet and maybe a quick go of a game or two.

Use Better Battery Stats and Greenify and they can all have decent battery life
I had really good battery with MeanBean. I'm now on Unofficial Black CM10.1 which is pretty good too.

If you're really concerned about battery life, you might consider going back to an ics rom. Jb seems to be a little rougher on the battery...the only way I've been able to get closer to the drain times I had with ics under the same usage is to flash a custom kernel, underclock and undervolt, and disable all non-essential background data. PAC man/komodo is the best combo I've found, but everyone's different...

Im running Viper and run 4 pages of widget, with power saver on during the day, I get 14 - 18 hours which is amazing to me since i had the original EVO4G that was a battery whore! I had MeanBean which was slightly less life but a good rom as well.

Just ignore any ROM that turns on both cores. That leaves out mean.
You can control the cores with trickster mod from play store. Or there are custom kernels for all of or roms for this phone now which give the user alot of control along with trickster or kernel tuner to control settings of kernel

I flashed cm 10.1 and already my battery is much better than on MB
none
I'm using Timberwolfs ROM and BL is great, he has a custom kernel in his ROM, he is a marvelous developer

MeanRom most definitely. best battery life. Meanbean is a little more drain-ey but that's just what you get when you run JB. I just flashed irocevo's CM10.1 so I can't really comment on its battery life yet but it seems to fair well.

I would almost say u should run stock ROM. I have the LG G and G Pro and Carbon on either of the phones has a less impressive battery performance. For example the costume ROM with G2 apps added for the G Pro has very impressive battery life. Anyhow. Stock seems better battery wise. You could try to make ur CPU run lower like only in 1 GHz instead 1.5 that should make a difference.

What bin speed is your CPU? I have a faster binned CPU and running houstons carbon ROM with adreno kernel I have it undervolted 75 MV and get 16 hours uptime with 4 plus hours of screen time. The fast and faster binned CPUs can be undervolted the most. I also use the intellademand governor.
