Cannot root Galaxy 5 - Samsung Galaxy 5 I5500

Hey people!
I'm trying to root my girlfriend's Galaxy 5 but I'm not being able to do so.
Every way I try just don't work. I wanted it to remove some unwanted apps that she have on phone, all bloatware.
Here is the info I have of the phone:
Model: GT-I5500B (Brazil)
Running on Android 2.2.2
Baseband: I5500BVJJP9
Kernel: 2.6.32.9-perf / [email protected] #1
Build: FROYO.VJJP9
I've tried SuperOneClick, z4root, Universal Androot and another one that I couldn't remember.
Also, I didn't find the CWM Recovery for it. It would be nice to have it too, since I could do a backup before trying anything else.
Thanks!

Usually you have to try more than one time to successfully root the phone: for me UAR didn't work but SuperOneClick yes. Did you install the Samsung drivers into your PC?
Try others version of this program and try more than one time, sequentially..

Everything is installed, since I use it on my Galaxy Ace. So, I should try other versions of SuperOneClick to see which one will work? There isn't something like a flashable zip to root the phone?

quite sure there isn't, sorry..
yes, I think you should try different version of SuperOneClick and most of all try and try and try again: most users reported that they were not able to root with a version or another and that they had to repeat the operation..

Oh well, seems that I'll need to take my gf's phone for a week to root it. I hope it worth the work! Anyway, thank you!

Thanks man, as soon as I got the phone with me I'll try.
By the way, I've attached the file you link to me, in case of someone else needs it. It is clean and seems very simple to use, just connect phone to PC, enable debugging, set screen timeout to 10 min and run the script.

4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=235402&view=findpost&p=7387993 - here you can find CWM for our phone in the post #3
It's a russian forum, but I think that is not very important
As for root, I'm searching it too I used Universal Androot before & everything was ok, but my AVG Antivir found a virus in it
Ps. Actually I've rooted my smartphone a moment ago with Universal Androot again you can pick it from here: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=747598 if that your script would not work

Thanks for the link, I'm taking a look right now. About the root, the file that I attached on my last post worked perfectly. I've just set the screen timeout to 10min and enabled USB Debugging and ran the script. Bingo! Now my girlfriends phone is with full root acess!

Can't unlock xperia

I recently came across an Xperia that is locked. A coworker said he bought it from a garage sale. We tried unlocking it until it said we tried to many times and we need a Google account and password. Is there any way to factory reset the phone to wipe the lock code and previous Google account?

I honestly don't know how. Its a little different from my cappy. How do you get it into download mode? What program do you use to flash? Sorry I'm such a noob. If anyone can walk me through it or tell me where to look for instructions I would really appreciate it. I've tried Googling it and it keeps telling me to use PC suite which I can't find.

[Q] Most efficient way to root my Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-19300 international?

I'm somewhat of an android newbie right now, I've had my S3 for about 2 months, First of all i was wondering if rooting would void the warranty, that being said what's the best and most efficient way to root it? Thanks.

Use Odin to flash CF-Root, really easy stuff.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695238
When you need repair or anything, you have to use Triangle Away to reset binary count and set it official status. So technically, rooting does void warranty but it can be reset.

Everything you need to know about rooting and factory reset is explained in those links! Good luck and have fun!

Thanks a lot! I'm going to give it a try right now.
By the way, if i do manage to root, would I be able to do the official Jelly Bean update once it comes out?
EDIT: The rooting process does seem simple enough, the ''THIS IS A DANGEROUS OPERATION AND COULD POTENTIALLY BRICK YOUR DEVICE. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK. A USB JIG IS PREFERRED IF YOU HAVE A WORKING ONE.'' on the Triangle Away page has me concerned though.
I'm surprised that nobody is never talking about this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703488.
Worked like a charm in a few minutes, nothing to care about, installs drivers, no need to download Odin, and you're rooted and recovery installed.
A must in my opinion.
What are the differences between installing that and installing CF?
I used the toolkit. Complete root newbie 3 days ago, I now have ROM Omega v28 running Jellybean 4.1.1 flashed siyah kernel, switched my sd card with my 32gb ext card so now I have much more space for storing apps and games and over clocked device to make it run faser
Flashed a fair few mods so my s3 looks ace and performs like a dream
Root using the toolkit 5.0 as in the post above it only took about 5 mums and that was only because I was really slow and cautious.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Would i be able to install Cyanogen mod if i root it with toolkit?
Yes you would. The method you use to root is just that, a method to give you the super user access you need to do all the weird and wonderful things you can do with a rooted device.
Once rooted, using the toolkit will install clockwork mod recovery on your device and you would use this to flash the ROM of your choosing. It takes just a minute or so to flash the ROM too, I was surprised and pleasantly so at how quick and easy it all was.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Argghh, is there any full guide on how to root, install jelly bean then flash the cyanogen mod?
I used the following you tube guide.
Just don't worry about the toolkit versions being different its just been updated since then
It literally takes minutes..
Watch the video a few times over like I did though.. And the toolkit tells you what to do next.. It's all very clear.
Once done, install root checker and it will confirm if you are rooted
With the ROM I don't think you need to install JB, the ROM should be ICS or JB and come included with the ROM
I was determined to go with CyagenMod but I went for Omega.. So glad I did...

Once rooted to flash a ROM you just save the ROM zip file to the SD card
Boot into recovery (power button, home button and volume up) and just choose the option 'install from SD card' find the ROM zip file, confirm the install and sit back and let it do its thing.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
odin and cf root for sure
I have successfully rooted my device, thanks for all the people that helped me root it. Now, should i go for omega or cyanogenmod? Cyanogen does look nicer to be honest.
Just Root Samsung Galaxy S3-19300
Hi, i have Samsung Galaxy S3-19300 and i want just to root it. ( without installing Mod Roms )
And there is a lot of options (1,2,3 ) to root, and I really don't want to brick it.

[Q] How to Root or Read MSL / SPC on Galaxy S3 SCH S960L Tracfone

Just wondering how to root this galaxy s3 from tracfone (run on android 4.1.2) from the specification its look like the s3 from sprint.
and how to get the msl / spc code for this phone (have been ask the tracfone cs so many time but they didnt give me)
if you can provide me the modem/radio i can help
Ditto
I have the same exact phone and am wondering this myself. The details that I have on hand are:
Qualcomm 4g
Model: SCH-960L(GP)
Android Version 4.1.2
Baseband Version: S960LWYAMD6
Kernel Version: 3.0.31-1151419
[email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPT Fri Apr 19 13:43:50 KST 2013
Build Number: JZO54K.S960LWYAMD6
Hardware Version S960L.01
One thing about this particular model is that it is CDMA/LTE with the option to choose CDMA only. It also doesn't appear to have a place for a sim card (which is utterly ridiculous from a company that was enticing people to BYOP... LOL, especially knowing the huge markup on their phones.)
Forgive my noobishness, I'm very noob to this. I've rooted one particular model phone previously (Galaxy Proclaim | StraightTalk) for like 3 different people, and now am looking to root this particular model as well. I am willing to obtain any information you need, I just need someone to guide me through it. I won't be on StraightTalk for but a few more months anyways and I'll be switching over to sprint.

I also thought I'd add that I've tried multiple variations of processes trying to get the MSL from this phone.
I've tried through Android Terminal, using the APP sniffer: AlogCat, and tried dialing ##data# entering 000000 and then opening GetMyMSL a 2nd time after dialing and entering the incorrect password and got the same error message I received when I opened GetMyMSL the first time prior to dialing ##data#.
Of course I do know that most people want the MSL to unlock their phone, and I'm not sure how worth it, it would actually be to unlock a CDMA phone that doesn't have SIM card ability... I just had an S3 on Verizon that was unlocked with Sim Card ability that was briefly in my possession and it had GSM and CDMA support, but this model doesn't appear to have GSM unless it's locked up somewhere (but then why no Sim??)
Anyways just food for thought. I'm only really interested in Rooting so I can use CWM and Rom Toolbox to get JellyBeans on this phone.
Solution found
Found a method that worked for this model.
androidrootz dot com /2013/05/ how-to-root-galaxy-s3-on-mac.html
I can't post links because I'm a forum noob so you'll have to put the link together on your own.
You download the script, then use sudo inside of Terminal either on Mac or Linux. Change the permissions by using CHMOD, and then execute the script. I can confirm that this in fact rooted my device which is the very model that I posted information about.
---------- Post added at 01:19 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:59 AM ----------
So now for my next question regarding this model. Now that it's rooted. What Roms can I safely use?
I know that the phone is TracFone owned and Operated under the guise of StraightTalk.
But I also know that this phone runs on Sprint Towers using CDMA/LTE
So will this phone safely use Sprint Roms from Clockwork? Or will it mess up the APN settings?
I mean it uses the Sprint towers anyways right? I'm too chicken to do it... lol
provide me with teh radio and i can get a way to find the spc.

Anyone have a custom recovery for this model?

Note 2, Sophisticated, Tethering (not working)

A while back I used Adam Outler's Casual method to root my phone to Stock. I don't mind stock and root mostly for the Tethering. Then when the 4.3 OTA was pushed I used BeansTown106 method to stay rooted and such. It has been working for a year now... until about 2 weeks ago, my tethering stopped working..
Was something just pushed/fixed by Verizon? I just want the tethering to work. The odd thing is, I checked and still have root. Oh, BTW, I am running Sophisticated 3 ROM. I am willing to change if necessary.
Please help! Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I looked into the module you mentioned. The first step was, "Be rooted and have the Xposed framework installed".
With me having Sophisticated 3 installed, would this be an issue? Is there a guide on how to install Xposed for the Note 2?

good you dont need ghettoroot
you just run the installer.
then open the app and click framework.
click install and let it reboot when finished.
now go back into the xposed app in your app drawer.
click download
click the magnifying glass and search for xtether
in the xposed app go to modules
check the xtether box to activate it
reboot one last time
now start wifi tether
Problem Solved
Upon installing the Xposed, I found that "Media" was taking up all my battery and processing power. After I cleared all apps and deleted all files that I might have been corrupt... the tethering started working again. I was very odd but it's working again. I hope this might help someone else as well.
Thanks urphonesux for all your help!

Is there a way to root LG Volt 2

I just bought my LG Volt 2 a month ago, and I'm ready to make it MINE! Unfortunately, I think this phone is too new, because I can't find anything helpful on how to root it. I tried "kingroot" and after it did a few things, it said I was successfully rooted. BUT, when I started up "SuperSU" it says it has to download some things, and its never successful and informs me to restart my phone and to press the restart tab. When I press the restart tab, it says "attempting to restart phone" but it can't. I'm on the 5.1.1 operating system, and using an LG Volt 2 (LGLS751). Is there any advise out there that someone can offer me? Am I REALLY rooted? Has anyone successfully rooted this phone yet? If so please tell me where I can find the steps. I have faith that my XDA community will pull through. Thanks everyone!

Considering this is an open community, why not just post your method for finding root here like everyone else does. Then we can verify your method through duplication. We can also test your methods using different firmware versions, different scenarios (such as from stock, from partially rooted by one-click methods, from bricked, etc.).
I myself just acquired an LS751. No battery, but that is an easy fix. No FRP, so that will not be an issue. I know the person who originally owned it anyways. This phone has great potential. Please share your method so we may all benefit. We will definitely give you the full credit if your method can be verified or refined to a validated method.
I know I am quiet guys, but I have been around for a very long time in these forums. I remember when I fumbled my way into getting a Motorola Atrix 2 ROM to work on an original Motorola Atrix. I wish now I had published my methods and dealings, for the collaboration of developers in these forums brings about the greatness we see in Dirty Unicorns (Which was the ROM I used, I believe it was AOKP at the time though), Paranoid Android, etc. My experimentation would have accelerated the development process.
Please do share your findings and let us all help in developing and refining methods.
