When I get an incoming call and try to answer, I get a voice anouncement about the call have have to press "1" to accept. I want to turn this anoucement off. I've looked at just about every setting I can think of and don't see where I can get rid of this setting. Very annoying.
Any clue as to where this is set so I can turn it off?
Thanks

Do you use Google Voice? My guess is you do. Because I'm not aware of Sprint having an option like this.
If you do use Google Voice, Log onto Google Voice from a computer, go to settings, then to Calls, then check 'off' for call screening.
It is Google voice. You to go online and adjust your settings or un-install, restall and don't allow it to integrate with your Sprint services.

That was it. BIG THANKS!!! Funny but that seeting must have been in place for a couple of years now. I just switch from the original Evo 4g to the 4g LTE last week when this started happeneing. Didn't do anything to Google Voice settings.

Is this a Google voice issue? No matter which rom I use I now have to press 1 to answer calls and it is irritating .....I am yet to find a setting to shut that off....
Also, I wish GV didn't receive texts either....
If GV is the issue does anyone have an older version of it?
Thanks

Hey guys, so I'm obviously running MIUI on my 3D but everytime I receive a call and I slide down to answer, a voice pops up and asks me to press 1 if I want to receive the call? How can I set this up right, I'm pretty sure it's a setting but I can't find it! Thanks
Are you using google voice?

I installed it and unistalled because it kept sending me emails and all that junk. Could that be the problem even if it's not installed?
When I had that issue it was because I integrated my phone number with google voice. I fixed it by going back through the settings and choosing not to use google voice to make any phone calls.

Removing google voice association with the phone number is one way to resolve the issue.
If you're interested in keeping google voice but dislike the requirement of pressing 1 every time to accept the call, the feature is labeled as Call Screening and is available under the Settings -> Calls section on the web site: http://www.google.com/voice.
If you receive a lot of legit phone calls, this setting would probably get frustrating quickly. If you receive a lot of spam calls, this setting is very handy as you can send it to voicemail and listen if they leave a message.
Hope that helps!
Hey all,
Did some searching for this issue and didn't come up with much. Basically, running a stock Rezound using the latest OTA update. Google Voice works fine for receiving and sending calls. However, I can only call out using Google Voice when I tap the person I want to call in my contact list. Is there some way for Google Voice to work with unknown numbers (i.e. just dialing a number the old school way)? It always uses my VZW number if I do this.
I have my Google Voice calling option set to "use for all calls" so I'm wondering what's going on. I am dialing the full number including an area code.
Thanks.
Thats the way I always use it. I select "use with all calls" and anytime I dial a number from the regular dialer... hell, any time I tap on any phone number in the browser... it just dials using Google Voice the way you'd expect it would.

Yeah, I'm not sure what's going on. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling - no dice. Dialer still causes VZW number to make the call instead of my GV number.
I'm using HTC Sense 3.5 if that helps any...? I haven't heard of anyone with this problem.
I have mine set to "ask me every time". Even for unsaved numbers, it'll prompt me with a box so I can select dial with / without Google Voice. Try setting it this way, and then attempt to call an unknown, see if it'll prompt you. That way you can narrow down whether it's your phone or the Google Voice app.

Yeah, I just tried doing the "ask me every time" option and dialed my house. Didn't give me any sort of message box asking me if I wanted to use GV or not and simply called using my VZW number.
I just got the phone two days ago and I've noticed some weird black artifacts (!) showing up during typical usage sometimes. Maybe I should just exchange it at this point?
Definitely do so if you are within your 14 days. That way you won't have to claim a warranty exchange for a refurb later on.

Yep, I still have 12 or so days left to do that. Sad, because I really like the phone. Hopefully the replacement will work properly with Google Voice...

Just got a replacement. No more screen issues and my bottom buttons are actually red! (they were pink before)
However...still have this same Google Voice issue. Very frustrating. Maybe it's because I skipped the voicemail setup?

You're obviously doing something wrong with the initial setup... That or you have it Google Voice not configured with your cell phone number correctly...
Works okay for me. On ice cream sandwich.
Google Voice not working when configured for ALL calls
I am running:
GV App build number 0.4.2.54
Galaxy Tab GT-P6200L with Android v4.0.4
When I set GV to ask before every call, it does, and my calls work just fine.
When I set GV to make all calls, it doesn't make calls, at all.
Since I went to the expense of porting my number to GV, it would be nice to use GV for my calls. I want to keep my cell number private, and GV should allow me to do this by showing my GV number to people when I call them.
Although I can do what I want with the extra screen press (when asked if I want to use GV), this is not how the app is supposed to work.
Is there a fix for this that anyone is aware of?
Thank you.
Anybody else having this issue? I'm getting an app crash when trying to switch carriers for voice mail from AT&T's to Google's. It was working perfectly fine with my S II.

On my Sprint SGS3, I wasn't able to set Google Voice as my voicemail on the phone itself. However, I went through the process as far as I could (within the Google Voice app), and then logged on to Google.com/Voice > Settings > click on "Deactivate Google voicemail on this phone". After that, re-enable Google Voicemail and you should be good to go.
Soon after that, the settings on the phone were greyed out and voicemails came in as expected.
Sorry if this isn't so clear! Time for bed and my brain isn't firing on all cylinders. Good luck.
It's not working for me either. Seems there's issues on Sprint and T-Mo too with the SGSIII and Google Voice. I hate using stock voicemail. Hope the next Google Voice update cures this.

while we're here, when someone leaves me a voicemail, it goes to my old phone that has the google voice app (it's still connected to wifi). it doesn't show up on my new phone though.
do i have to do something with my old phone to make it stop? or do i change some other settings?

bump?
i couldn't get this to work. the post wasn't very clear. did you go to google.com/voice on your phone or via website? i did via phone and don't see anywhere to "Deactivate Google voicemail on this phone". didn't see it via computer, either.
edit: so i found this via browser on my computer finally. reactivated and still no dice
I was only able to switch my VoiceMail provider from AT&T to GoogleVoice by using the dialcode listed @ voice.google.com (*004*<insertyourGVnumberhere>#), and it works, even though Dialer app settings still shows "My carrier" instead of "Google Voice" as the provider, and attempting to change it in the Dialer still says "Forwarding number change failed".
My problem now is that I can't for the life of me figure out where to change the timeout before it forwards to VoiceMail. I test-called from another phone and it rings for at least 60 seconds(!) before forwarding to GoogleVoice, instead of the 15 or so it used to be. Where do you change this, or can you?
Me too - luckily I saved the activate/deactivate google voice in my contacts list so was able to change the forwarding ok. Not sure if there's anyone at google that takes feedback on these kind of issues or not - but I haven't seen many things responded to on their feedback forums (like DST / calendar sync issues for the last few years with no fixes). Get what you pay for I guess.
My phone has just recently started asking me to "press one to accept this call" im with sprint. Is this something new? or is there a setting i can turn this off. Had it happen on multiple ROMS...

I believe it's a Google voice thing. You have to go into voice settings on the computer to change it. Hope this helps.

Yep, you would have to go to Google Voice settings on a computer to disable google voice.
Go into google voice -> settings -> calls -> turn off call screening. That should help.
Thanks guys! That was annoying me...
