I don't know how legit this is (but I am installing Kies now to try) but the site linked below reported that a Rogers client was able to upgrade to ICS through Kies.

Correct...the Samsung rep in Canada told my Rogers business rep that the ICS update over the air will be available at the END of June and at that time it will work for Kies updating as well. As you said, only the international version has the ICS version available at this time

Has anyone tried to download the new update from att today? It should bring 2.3.6 and the leaked modem. I hear from posts on reddit that it enables nfc which bring's me to conclude that you might be able to through the wallet.apk on there.
Any success stories or attempts?

2.3.6 has been out for a while, we have had NFC enabled on custom roms but no luck with Google Wallet as of yet.
Waiting for the new Visa payment since its certified for our phones.

From what I hear, this release from att enables Nfc which might have the secure element enabled.

I'd be shocked if there were an OTA and we haven't seen a leak.
Unless we're no longer seeing leaks now that DG is not around - I should ask him how he finds them.

I called At&t and got no where but apparently Canada has started to receive it and the hope is that we get it soon but ill settle on seeing it until we get it

For once, I can actually be happy for my Canadian friends up north, for it seems that they always get the short end of the stick. I don't know how they Bear it... being left out in the Cold and all, plus some of 'em just so happen to have inherited the second worst think from the French, their language!
Seriously, I'm happy for y'all.
And this can only bode well for the U.S. as well, as it means that were mighty close...and they get to Beta test!!! On another high note, the Rogers ROM seemed to be much better than the ATT ROM was. So our off shoots might start off better.

Yeah, only Quebec speaks French. Yet our idiotic government forces it to be in our national anthem, all over our packaging, and most government phone lines you use. It is ridiculous. I cannot stand French as much as Al Bundy, and I assure you that almost all of our non Quebec population feels the same.

Not our Note version and only in Germany, so far. But this means it will be rolling, and spilling, to everyone. It is good news; at least until there is some announcement about Jelly Bean and then we can all do this dance over again.
It sux that we wait 6-8 months for the newest OS then only get to enjoy it for a couple months before the best one rolls in.

God only knows how long it'll be before we see it on this side of the Pond. Will this at least speed up the devs getting the source files they need to make custom kernels? The various "leaks" (aka free beta testing for Samsung) have been great- each better than the last, but I believe what they are REALLY waiting on is the source so they can really tweak the kernel.
Before anyone starts flaming on me, I am NOT asking for an ETA of anything.. just wondering out loud if the source files are typically released in short order and if the release for the Int'l Note will be sufficient for us here.

Yes we have basically the same physical phone and the idea is the same but the internals are completely different, even if source comes out when I post this message it will have absolutely no benefit to us for kernel help. Apks maybe but beneficial software is a negative.

Most likely if you want to get the ota update or how ever ics comes to us you have to be out of the box stock which is achievable with the stock odin file. When the update comes out you can bet there will be a cwm or odin file on here to get it on your phone the same day so its up to you.

Does not install as a .EXE (Odin) on Cdn Rooted Note
Everyone seems to like to use ODIN with these leaked UCL ROMs and basically folks it will not install on the Canadian (Bell, Rogers, Telus) devices. Samsung explains that the Canadian Galaxy Notes actually have a processor upgrade which the AT&T didn't get (because they went so quick to market).
I've had an engineer in Rogers Data Centre (who knows a thing or two about Samsung devices) and he has been unable to get any of the bundled installs in .exe format to install to a rooted Canadian Note. Both others that are .zip and with CMW installs with no issues.

wow. Really? lucky i got my ics ota update. it was pushed out 4 days after court awarded apple 1.05 b. Guess they stopped it cause tab is banned in north america.

you can do it manually using the firmware from sammobile.com
