Hello all, I'm new around here but no stranger to the galaxy tab & gt i9000 forums. I've flashed many roms and love every minute of it
I lost my original galaxy s last week but luckily my insurance covered it. The company didn't have any in stock, so i was automatically upgraded to the S II, which I received today. RESULT!
Anyways, the development section is HUGE here so i was wondering whether anyone could recommend a rom or two to try out. I upgraded manually to 2.3.5 (XWKI8) and I'm rooted
I'm after something fairly close to stock. And by this I mean Samsung stock, I like all their apps etc! But also as themable as possible. On the original galaxy s I was a big fan of darky's rom & also used cm7 as well as a few others. I'm using overcome on my tab and looking forward to trying their rom when it's released...
Any pointers would be really helpful *finger Hoovers over thanks button*

Try revolution rom . this is a base rom and very expandable with the kitchen app. You won't regret it.

agree,it's a great rom!
revolution rom with speedmod t41 kernel, _ _ _ king great.
Jkays themes and mods can be used on rooted stock Samsung roms.
Check the theme section for themes that can be used with odexed firmware.

Hey guys, so I upgraded to revolution and really like it just one prob- the different mods work well but the status bar and battery mods aren't working for me. Tried wiping cache and dalvik but remains as stock :-( so I'll need to investigate further. But besides that my quadrant is through the roof! Thanks!

I have a problem with my samsung galaxy s 2 touch screen . I find a lag when i swipe between pages on homescreen not just lag the icons kinda seem vibrating when i do so. But everything is fine when i play games. This has really pissed me off . I had once found a solution similar to my problem in this forum and a solution but that did not help me. I hope you can help me and pray this is not a hardware effect.
I am using the latest ICS. This problem was there when i used its earlier versions. I have tried customs roms like villainrom and miui as well . but the problems persisted.

Hello guys
I'm still on stock rom bud i want to try the custom one.
Could you please recommend me any?
I would expect:
- Android 4
- The AOSP one (or with AOSP theme) - not sense ui
- Working 3D (3D camera, watch 3D video/pictures)
- Stable for daily use - without bugs with calls, sms etc.
I'm GSM user.
Thank you!
Try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1676276.
Everything is working.
It does not look like AOSP :X

AFAIK there are no aosp ics roms with 3d working. To have 3d working, you must use a sense based rom. You could use a desensify script on a sense rom for a close to aosp experience.

All AOSP roms to date do not have 3D or wimax working. You can get a sense based rom and use a rom cleaner script to remove as much sense as possible, but the framework will still be sense. I use CyanogenMod 9 (AOSP) and all its missing is 3d & wimax. When I do need those features, I nandroid back to a sense rom. Good luck.

I'm still deciding if im going to root/s-off/custom rom or wait for official update..

You could wait, but I'm sure as soon as the official ota is released, it will be released as a custom rom that is much better.

Good morning.
Ive been using my i9300 for about two months now. Im a former iPhone 4 user. I have noticed that the i9300 despite the fact that it has quad-core and 1GB RAM, is not at all smooth :/ I always get lag in the Homescreen and in the settings etc etc. I've tried like 20 ROMS or so :/ am i doing something wrong here? E.g. scrolling between homepages can get laggy! That wasnt supposed to happen right?\
Im currently at MIUI 2.9.14 ROM. Maybe im doing something wrong when i flash a new ROM?
What are the steps?
I delete the whole internalSD, i perform a data/factory reset via CWM, i delete cache and Dalvik Cache. Your help would be appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Just use a samsung-based rom. Your trouble will be fixed.

Yeah try that combo. Wanam or Omega Jelly Bean XXDLI8 leaks are very smooth.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
there are plenty of custom roms out there,
most of the JB leaks are much smoother than the ICS roms i have been using.( i am sure there are ICs roms that are smooth as well , just that i have not tested before. )
currently on Omega v23 and happy with it, no lags. you may just have to spend some time experimenting which one is to your preference.
Sir, I suggest you try out Omega ROM (ICS or JB) doesn't really matter, cause Omega is really really stable. I'm not prompting whatsoever because I'm on MIUI 2.9.14 too with hardcore speed mod kernel and it is perfectly great.
One advice, try not flashing so many ROMs at one go because it might cause system error such as connectivity to wifi or packet data. Stick to one you really like.
Edit: Do a full wipe, flash back stock firmware on PC Odin and root again to remove any bad 'history' and the lag too.
Hope I did manage to help!
Great day

If you want a rapid ICS rom then use Foxhound 1.4.3, it is quite simply the best ICS rom there is, and believe me i've tried them all.
Couple it with Galaxsih kernel @normal and apex launcher not much comes close to it.
As for Jelly bean, take your pick but just know that there are no final builds as of yet and all of them are leaks, meaning that kernel support is limited.
Thanks everyone ive never flashed back to stock before i used custom rom and i think that May be it like one of you suggested. About that miui rom and hardcore speed mod. It works on any MIUI rom or only on specific ones? If it does work on every miui where can i find it? I really like miui
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
You are welcome mate hmm what do you mean?? I'm using hardcore speed mod on my MIUI rom and I don't experience any lag (Provided you use apex launcher PRO too) I even have great battery life (8 hrs of hardcore using; with wifi or packet data On). You can definitely flash speedmod on your MIUI 2.9.14 and you will know what I mean.
Omega ICS on the other hand, is really stable and having that 'stock-ish' feel. But on MIUI, you know we rule the game.
Edit: If you wanna try out Omega, do a full wipe, flash back stock firmware (It will unroot device) then root again then try out Omega. It is really your decision.
But again, you know who rule the game with MIUI. Haha.
Great day ahead.

To get rid of the memory leak, go to ES Explorer, give it root and write permissions (in its options), then go to system/bin/ and delete kiesexe. You won't be able to use Kies anymore, but it'll kill the leak because it's caused by that process.
you should use the stock TW without scrolling wallpaper mod =p
I just prefer you to flash DLI18 stock JB from sammobile, wipe everything before flash, and I would prefer you to change animation scale and duration scale from 1 to 0.5,

Just a suggestion.... If you really like MIUI, but want a smoother and more stable ROM, why don't you flash the latest CM10 build, and then install MiHome Launcher? MiHome Launcher is the default launcher used in MIUI and it comes with an optional MIUI lockscreen as well. Once both are installed, it's virtually indistinguishable from a full MIUI ROM. Plus, it'll have the speed and smoothness of Jelly Bean with the stability of CyanogenMod (or as stable as a pre-release build can be).
Anyway, it was just a thought. Good luck to ya'!

But i find it really annoying that HTC ONE X users have smoother ROMS than me Their stock is smoother than any Custom Rom ive used.. wtf exynos? Im really thinkin of selling my phone!
Recently, there have been quiet a few threads with questions about JB roms and i have gotten quite a few PMs from users asking about stuff in JB. Many of these users arent at 10 posts yet and cant post in the cm10/cm10.1 threads. Also, for many users (including me), this is their first experience with jelly bean.
So i have decided to make this thread so that people can post their questions about Jellybean roms (cm10, cm10.1, PA, PAC-man, etc.)

Front camera works fine. The rear one has problems on saving the photo and some glitches on the preview. But since it woks at least on preview, some app like Fast Burst Camera simple takes a screenshots of the device. In other words the camera DO NOT fully works. Also the resolution of the photo taken by the app Fast Burst Camera is ~720x480 or 0.3 MP instead of 3.2MP, so the quality is much much worst.
Right on time I was just about to make a thread about this what is the easiest way to get Jelly Bean. I don't really care or need the camera it's pure **** as it is.

Really ?? That is so hard to believe !!
I was using no wallpaper in CM10.1, and when I flashed pacman and rebooted, I had no wallpaper. It wasn't until I went into settings and fooled with the theme and the pacman toggle (whatever that does) when lo and behold, the 4 pacman icons appeared. Having to resort to using a black image to hide those 4 icons seems so uncool.
EDIT: I installed "No Wallpaper" from Play Store..Mission accomplished
