Sony xperia S water damage sticker??? - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hello,
Anyone has an ideea where is the water damage indicator on Xperia S and if there are more than one??? I bought the phone 2 months ago and 3 weeks back tried to change the screen foil and i think i put a little bit too much of the liquid i was provided with that screen protector because the screen started to catch a gray tint and in 2 days only a few bright pixels left on the bottom of the screen. The rest of the display looks like it has a dark foil on it. I sent the phone for repair but the answer was it has water damage and we can give you 10% off to buy a new one. So where is/are that water damage sticker and is there a way to make them white again so i can send it again to repair??? Thank you!!!

isn't this illegal?

Why should it be ilegal?
They just protect them frome charghes like you want to do.

[Q] Replace bezel?

Hi
Apologies if this has been answered before. I recently dropped my sgs2 and chipped the "metal" bezel and really want to repair this if possible. I have seen full housing replacements on eBay but they don't have the screen or digitiser included. How easy is it to replace the bezel?
Thanks
LCD+Digitizer Screen+Housing Bezel for SAMSUNG Galaxy S 2 i9100
They are not that hard to find on ebay..
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Samsung-G...062?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3cb9ff0e4e
PS: theres also other links for the above items. how to remove and replaced has been covered here before...
The replacement housing is only £10 so thought it may be worth it to get rid of the little chip but over £100 is too much which is why I was wanting to know if its possible to remove the bezel from the screen and replace just that part

What are the chances hahaha. Maybe we should report to Samsung, we have a little research here what part of the phone gets damaged during avarage drop on the ground xD
But yeah, such a small damaged corner can bug a human pretty much. I try to avoid the lightning to fall in a certain way on the phone so it's not noticable \0/
Had my phone in my pocket, there most of been some sand or crap in there and there is a small nick the size of a grain of sand on the bezel right above the speaker. Tilt my phone back and I can see it, other than that I can forget about it.
With the insurance I have on my phone a £50 excess on a broken phone gets me a brand spanking new one

The yellow tint is covered by the warranty, might take a couple of weeks but you get to keep your warranty.

In most cases lcds are glued to the glass... Ive replaced both lcds and the touch glass in phones and the two parts can be prized apart quite easily there's enough glue left over to stick the new parts together too

so, I want to understand something here, if the cause of this is the glue between the glass and the lcd not the lcd itself, the glue can it be cleaned?
what I found is this item in the link from ebay which is the lcd

Hello,
this might sound strange but, do you think it is possible for me to get my phone´s screen replace under warranty even though my screen is broken, but luckily I own one of those xperia which has yellow spots on the display when the phone gets warm.. I read the other day article about it, that sony replaces those screens under warranty.

Did your phone from airplane so took that much damage?
Screen / glass Replacement is very usual, but never know the board, you may have to fine someone who renews the phone to do that.
By the way, you can make it be covered by protective cases if you can live with that...

the glass is scratch resistance, not shatter/fall/drop proof.
Maybe you should take something away from all this experience and get yourself a case if you are so accident prone.
you can do this to any phone w/ a glass screen and it will crack (look at the all iphones, nexus 4s, and thousands of other models out there w/ cracked screens).

I cant believe how unlucky some people are. This phone made me develop a heart stopping issue, any time I slightly dropped it.
I decided on a new strategy, I have insurance so if something happend, it will be repaired, its only a phone. Since then the phone has been dropped and thrown in temper by my little one (always on thick carpet though) and not a mark. He gets told off for throwing and I get a kiss, but surprisingly no damage to phone. I know the day will come for me but I am safe in knoledge of house and phone insurance.

You can get the case with the bezel on ebay.
And don't ask for help in General.
Mate I went from a Sony Elm to my first Android, an s3. I loved the look so much I refused to put a case on it, even after my first two drops. However on my third drop i damaged the silver side so immediately went and got a bumper cover. Granted it looks or feels nowhere near as nice but at least my baby is protected. I would rather My wife took a dive before my Phone hits the floor again.

Galaxy S3 stains on bright background. Should I open it up and try to clean it?

Hello.
So I dropped my Samsung Galaxy SIII and the glass cracked (not the display tho), and I got to repair it. When I got him back, there was a little stain, but barely noticeable. After that, a friend dropped my phone and the glass part separated from the phone, but we could put it back. So my phone works perfectly, except now there are more stains that are visible on white or bright backgrounds (see attachments). After a while, this really started to annoy me so I tried something. I discovered that I can separate the glass from the phone. It seems risky, so before I do anything, I want to post it here. What do you guys think? Should I do it, and if I do, what then? Should i clean the display with something, blow on the display or what?
just 1 thing to note is that opening the screen hard and u can easily break or mess up with something
They're not stains. It looks to me to be where the screen and glass are no longer in contact with each other. Like when you peel a corner of a screen protector off

That's why I consulted the forum before I did anything. I heard that if I put it in a sealed bag of rice for 1 day it would help. Any thoughts on that?

i don't think so that only helps on a water damaged phone but what would be helpful is you knowing what you are doing so start by watching some videos on youtube and getting the hang of it otherwise you will end up with something bigger than stains

Sorry, I didn't see it. So what do you think I should do?
If it is done professionally, a glass replacement would be adhered to the AMOLED panel / digitiser, with a translucent adhesive "LOCA" (Liquid Optically Clear Adhesive). Seems to me the people who repaired it should be able to apply some more or rectify the issue.

Took the phone for a swim - Screen Damaged !!

So I took my Z ultra for a swim in the pool and took some pretty nice photos with Aqua Camera Light (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=am.tir.z.proximitycamera) and took some nice Video as well
Anyways, after I finished I left the phone in the Sun to dry (30 Degree Celcius) and I kept on swimming when I came back I found the phone was still making random touches like the screen was still wet, but of course it was dry as a desert!
I checked the white water mark under the flaps and it was still white, supposed to turn pink if water damage had occurred.
When I got home and took a closer look at the phone it seems there is moisture on the entire right side of the screen either under the screen protector I had applied on the screen (not the factory one, another one I fitted on top of that) or dare I say it, under the screen it's self :crying::crying:
What I have now done is switched the phone off, put it in a bowl of rice (to suck out the moisture) and left outside in the sun.
Any ideas why this happened or what I can do to fix it?
Why this happened? You said it yourself. You've fitted a 3rd party screen protector on top of the original one, and there's no way the one you put on is as tightly fitted as the original, thus letting water in between the two protectors, and then you'll experience this behavior. I think. Pure speculation from me, but it's logical.
Sent from my C6833_GPe using Tapatalk
The reason I installed this 3rd party screen protector is to use a Pen as a stylus, scratches the hell out of the screen, so I thought I'd install that to protect the screen
The thing that worries me is, if the screen is off and it's all black and I look at the screen from different angels i can't see any moisture, when I turn screen on and I look at the screen you can clearly see the moisture! Does this mean it's under the screen it's self ?
So I took the screenprotector off and it is as I feared, the water is under the screen not the protector!
I'm very disappointed from Sony, how can this happen!
Anyways, put the phone back into the bowl of rice and out into the sun

You should put phone and rice in a sealed plastic bag so rice can draw moisture out.
and open the flaps if you havn't alrady
Check your screen if it is glue tight to the phone, make sure your USB cap and micro SD cap rubber ring still good, some are loose and water get in easily.

Ouch! That gotta hurt. You would think that a "waterproof" gadget would indeed be waterproof. I don't think any OEM should sell and market a product as waterproof when it's not always the case. The fact that the warranty doesn't cover water damage on a waterproof product, says it all doesn't it? Sony knows that they can't guarantee waterproofness, so they refuse to cover it. (this includes all OEMs and not just Sony)
- SONY: "Go ahead and jump!"
- YOU: "But.. but will the parachute open?"
- SONY: "Yes, it's totally cool"
- YOU: "Alright, but you're covering the hospital bills if it fails"
- SONY: "Ehm.. no."
Not that comforting is it?

LOL @ LordManhattan
So the phone is till in the bowl of rice out in the sun for the second day now, but yesterday somehow I found the phone had turned on (maybe due to an alarm or something) I switched it off and put it back, will check it when I get home today, hope the Vapour goes away.
I think what may have caused the vapour under the screen was me trying to dry off the phone in the sun when the heat was 30 degrees celcius, maybe the water evaporated due to the heat and went under the screen!
I'll let you know what happened when I get home.
I personally took mine into the pool last Friday, here in Italy (in Verona, Veneto precisely): there were 34 Celsius degrees.
Water was cool, I stayed in for like 20 minutes, took many pics with touch block+volume button as shutter, videos as well.
As I went out the phone was dry as before entering, I don't know why would you dry a phone that's all metal and glass, water slips off it the moment you take it out the water. It's not like it's a sponge or a piece of cloth or anything.
The time "drying" in the sun was definitely the culprit here. And why you left it in the sun and with the screen ON? To make it even hotter??
And hey, with 34 degrees, in and out of the water and 20 minutes of continuous photos and videos made the phone hot as a furnace, so, again, it definitely DID NOT need drying.
Sent from my C6833 using Tapatalk
So here's the update:
So I took the phone out of the rice after 3 days and 90% of the vapor under the screen is gone, just a small spot in the bottom right hand corner left
BUT
after charging the phone and using it for a couple of minutes, the screen started shaking, not flickering, shaking, so everything displayed on the screen is shaking up and down!
Any ideas what can be causing this ?!

Hmm... Then it would probably be best if you send it in for repairs after you've removed all of the moisture under the screen. It hasn't triggered the indicator, meaning your warranty is still valid. Your screen is obviously not functioning well, so I would grab the chance and get the screen swapped. Try getting the defect on film or something and also be sure to get the white indicator on film, so you'll have proof that it isn't water damaged.

Yeah, we all saw that one coming, haha. It's a 6.44 inch 1080p panel after all, and that ain't cheap. You can of course buy the panel and do the work yourself, but I don't recommend that if you've never done it before.
