[Q] . 75 uk or. 76TW? - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

As the title really? What shall I go for? (I'm in the UK)

It probably makes little difference. Besides, ics is imminent.

Try both and keep what u prefer (its not that hard if u use flashtool).. and ics too is near! I've tried them and prefer .76TW.

Please read the threads for it and make youre own choice. All the does and donts are written already..

I really don't think it matters which you use. The only difference I have noticed from .67 is the vibrancy and fluidity of the cosmic flow wallpaper.
The poor battery life was not down to. 67 as such but due to one of the Sony preinstalled apps. I recently had a few of them updated and noticed a big improvement in battery life. No more draining ridiculously on standby. All that of course was while still on .67

What app was it?
I've gone for 76 as it is surely the latest available so hopefully the best

0.42 or 0.62? Which GB firmware better?

I actually experienced both; and feel like 0.42 performs faster & more responsive than the 0.62. I wonder about other people's experiences & opinions... Which one would you prefer to use?

I think 62 is better and smooth than 42.

.62 giving me great battery backup, and i dont think 42 is faster than 62.
for me .62 is smoother and better than .42... but recently i reflash .562ICS (CEurope) and i'm very happy withit... benchmarks are better than GB (3192 antutu) and all the features works like a charm... i stay on ICS

You allso heard alot of issues about the phone, the screen, battery problems in Gb and so on, and you still got the XS.
For me it was worth it. So nice new features, but nothing breathtaking.
Only problem so far is lowered wifi signal and some games lag after the ICS update.
The lag is not a general problem for me since GTA still runs smotth in high setting, and can have it running in the background and still play Dead Space without any problems.
I am happy with GB, no lags atleast..

yes you should... the issus"rumours" came from people that has found issus becaus they want... ICS is not as bad als all the people screams out... just update and then wait a couple of hours... and 2 or free full charching circles till ICS works great..
the only real issue i found was, that the Launcher (the same like the 2.3.7) lag a little if you apply third party Widgets and resice it...
the speed is after all the same as the 2.3.7 - the Battery-drain is better, the ics settings are great (the best new feature is the new Multitasking manager... damn great feature)
if you got issues after first installation.. just reinstall (if you use Flashtool) and take a look that you made a full wipe (Cache AND Userdates) - and the Flashtool must be in the newest Version - so then... go on
SXS ICS and me? was not a love from the first view, but became bigger ever hour i use ICS and play whit it
I upgraded to ICS and my phone is better than ever!!

Dont forgot to make an "fresh" install.
Thats the common reason why its so called "buggy".
Ok guys, will wait 1 more week for official update else will flash.

Should I Flash
Hell Yeah, Better battery, Looks, Speed..
I use Apex launcher instead of Sony one & i have not noticed any lags at all????
me too... Xperia ICS & Apex is the best combination for a rocking S
Now U can upgrade to JB and it's 100 time better the official ICS....

New Firmware 6.1.A.1.58 is rolling out...

http://androidayuda.com/2012/07/11/sony-xperia-s-recibe-una-actualizacion-de-firmware/
Yep, its in spanish, but in summary this FW carries better battery performance, better hits on quadrant (15% more), wifi and radio signal enhanced.
BUT, since I didn't saw anyone here saying something like: I have the new FW! I don't know if this is reliable...
So I guess this update using the new Adreno driver?

I'm not spanish and I don't even know the language, but since it's similar to Italian, I can sort-of understand it anyway.
The article does say that this update brings better performance and a 15% increase in quadrant score, etc, but the comments ask for source of the claims.

"have not seen all those software's myself. I ask a colleague to have a look at it appears to be like this:
.452 - the generic one
.444 - never released
.58 & .453 - mainly operator branded and not available for most"
Mean not much to me.
operator branded firmware in the sony list? he must be joking :silly:

.444 - Wait more you losers!
.58 & .453 - Let just rol out new numbers so users can be happy and getting excited.

What it says in the spanish article is that the Quadrant benchmark has a 15% higher score. Also they state that the WiFi can now pickup the signals better (better coverage), and better transfer rates without fluctioations between max and mi.
Cheers

And how can they know that?

Just got the S - should I update to ICS?

Hi all,
My Xperia S phone upgrade arrived today. I am not using it as my main phone yet because I am still using my X10 phone on my old network, Orange, and will start using the new phone when I've given O2 my PAC code.
I had a few questions. Firstly, there's a 'system update' on the phone menu - I assume this is ICS. Should I go right ahead and install it? Are there any problems I should know about and is performance better/worse than 2.3.7? I'd like to install it before I do anything else on the phone, but if it's glitchy then I'd probably rather stick to GB.
Also, is there any way of restoring app data without rooting the phone? I wanted to restore my texts and MMS settings to the phone, as well as my internet bookmarks.
Any help or advice would be appreciated
Thanks
I personally love it but Some people liked it and some no,there is some minor bugs in ics so maybe better to wait little more for sony new release.
There is many backup apps in play store, try one

Yeah. Have a feel of the gingerbread experience first. Then upgrade to ics if you are no longer happy with it. It's like getting a new phone
Sent from my LT26i using xda premium
Test both and see for yourself. I'm switching to AOSP the day FXP release their tree, so you should also give CM10 a run and maybe join the AOSP tribe.
Update! camera becomes lbetter!
video bit rate is better!
720p is now 12mbit s
I got mine on Monday and upgraded to ICS straight away, so dont have any experience of how GB was but, ICS is smooth for me - only gripe is the stuttering on bluetooth when playing music! :'(
P.S - My battery life was absolutely awful the first few days - so bad I really considered returning it! But today and yesterday it seems to have settled in and it lasts an acceptable amount of time.
Definite YES !!!

[Q] shall i update my SXS from GB 2.3 to the New Software 6.1.A.2.45 at Egypt ?

hey all,
a quick question, if any one tried the new update 6.1.A.2.45 for Xperia S at Egypt please advice
what about the battery life, free RAM, any bugs ?!!
i just got the phone 2 days ago and it works fine with GB 2.3
i don't want to face any bugs with the new update, if it will; i will better leave it on G.B.
P.S. i always have free RAM between 300 and 403
GB works best if you don't want to unlock bootloader... ICS uses more ram and such...

I like GB a lot, but Sony's implementation of ICS is really very good. Heaps of new features too. Anyone who whines on about "RAM" is misguided and living in 2011. Ignore and enjoy the ICS experience. Everything works and works well, enjoy.

But they are talking about the phone stay awake while the screen is turned off. and the wake-lock bug
what does that mean ? and how can i know if my phone is awake or not while the screen is turned off ??
I don't have that problem and I'm on 2.45
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
Yes!
I would 100% do the update, Sony is one of the rare companies who gave it's users a really great GB to ICS update, and then proceeded to continue to support it.
