2. Service info then configuration
If write Bootloader unlock allowed yes you can continue.
FLASH WITH YOUR OWN RISK
1.Change firmware to OEM .42 via flash tool
2.Unlock bootloader via test point-ground(picture in attach files)
3.Than install the new kernel which it has cwm pre-installed(kernel in attach files)
4.And then install root1.zip & root2.zip via cwm(files in attach files)
5.Open the phone, set to 2.0 Ghz and you are ready!!!!!

Bunkum.........
You do not need to downgrade to unlock boot loader.
What kernel is it? For GB or ics
Why post a kernel from someone else that you haven't tried?
As far as we know from your post this could eat our hamsters
Why two parts to root?
Root xperia is one file should contain sum binary and su.apk.
Please test and explain what is in what.

To be fair, this isn't his work, I remember an old kernel oc to 2000 but generally found unstable with excessive heat.
I also know he's only just started posting in Neo section.
Just curious why it's re posted like it's new when it's for 42 fw and why so much info was missing from first post.

Should work as it is with Nightelf's RC2, right? [pretty sure, it would, but still]
There's no reason why not, but if you've nightelf kernel you have recovery to flash the zip for root, which is certainly quicker.

flashtool
Download This folder
http://min.us/mq5bOi0IX
extract the ics nandroid to your sd card (sdcard/clockworkmod/backup)
place the ftf in flashtool/firmwares on your pc
reboot to recovery and restore the nandroid, this will wipe your data, use advanced restore, system only if you wish to preserve, although its better practice to wipe data especially in version jumps.
when complete power off the phone, read that again power of the phone, do not reboot you will get a boot loop.
now open flashtool on your pc, click the lightning symbol select flashmode, select the ftf for ics kernel, follow the instructions on screen to flash the kernel.
all done you should now boot to a prerooted ics.

I have reverted back to .42 after flashed it to Sony Nordic ICS.
I have one question, when you say "extract ICS nandroid to sdcard", from where can I get nandroid backup? I never have one... (I am noob on nandroid stuff, but know CWM recovery )
I downloaded K15, restored on .42 with recovery... applied Neo V patch, switched off from recovery, started Flashtool with ICS kernel & flashed it immediately.
But when I restart, it does not boot beyoned "Sony" logo, I waited for 10-15 min.
My first suspect is K15 does not support "stock kernel", can anybody know any ROM compatible with "Stock Kernel" of Sony??
Thanks!
Yes the nandroid (a nandroid is just s backup imagee taken with cwm, there is a zip that include one in the folder I posted)is the official ics, just already rooted. The ftf is just the stock ics kernel.
As for the ka13 question that's more suited to his thread , although the beta kernels work on official I haven't tried the other way around but they should be compatible.

YOu can simply replace kernel if you are using any custom ROM on locked kernel.
Then you can simply copy and paste it (overwrite)
EDIT: As I know, this cant be applied when on unlocked bootloader (you havent noticed it before).
Yeah, well apperntly im outta luck i geus. My x10i is rooted + unlocked bootloader, but im running 2.3.3 gb.... No custom rom, about the kernel i dont know if its stock or custom, i would have to take i look at google to find it out.

Im developing my kernel for Neo V. And after three days of soft bricking my neo v, i unbricked it with success to know and understand fully how flashtool works.
I have started sourcing and building but am still unsure of many things. Firstly, after building the kernel, may i ask how to build to boot.img? I dont seem to find a universal ramdisk source code but anyways it will be based on ICS. Please help if you know. there is a bug in the semc S1 bootloader... sometimes if the boot.img isnt of a correct size then the device will not boot... the workaround is to add a "filler" file (which is say 512KB file with junk data) to the ramdisk so as to increase the size of the final boot.img file...

Hi zig , firstly I will not suggest u to downgrade ur phone secondly do one thing to make ur phone processing faster.... Go to settings>apps>all> click the app and on the top right u will see an option ''disable'' , disable the preinstalled apps which u don't use like ''Google +,email, gmail, talk,fb,office suite, top contacts, retail demo, recommender, maps ,Google chrome, exchange services'' restart ur phone and then use..... Let me know how is it working.
Yea there is one more new update of Xperia u and that new ICS 6.1.1.B.1.54 version is good....it's bug free ,I would like u to upgrade it.

I know about the update you mentioned, but there seems to be even more new then that 6.1.1.b1.100. In any case how can i upgrade to those, be it new or older firmware? They are not listed in pcc, it sais its up to date with this last one i did. Thank you again for help.

To get a real lag reduction and battery drain issue, I suggest you to root atleast (without unlocking your boot loader which does not void your warranty).
For that you need flashtools from there
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1933985
However, B.1.100 is slightly better than the previous version
So to try that, flash it with flashtools, you can find the download link here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974430
You do not require root to flash Sony stock ROMs.
Another better alternative is to flash custom ROMs for locked bootloader,
My personal suggest, go for SlimCM ROM, pretty stable and snappier.

So in essence i can flash newest stock B.1.100 without root, and not losing the waranty (subquestion only unlocking the bootloader voids waranty, but root no? I am asking this cos i do seem to remember but i might be wrong that root can also void it, and i wanna be sure . But if i decide to go for custom ROM which you suggested do i need root for that? With root i can remove loads of stuff which i cannot do now, so thats why the lag is much lesser?

Yes you can attain root access without unlocking your boot loader.
Use flashtool method or Bin4ry's method.
Again yes, you can flash SONY STOCK fw using flashtools (without root or unlocking) in flashmode (just keep in mind to "exclude TA")
Once you are rooted you can install apps such as greenify that really helps to last the battery longer.
Also you could remove the bloatware and other useless apps.
Or you even you can make choices to install Custom ROMs for locked bootloaders. Just check the development section.
This is my personal suggest: SlimCM ROM.
Though its CM9
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2143750
See the instructions for locked boot loaders.

To root fw C.1.0 or any later versions, you need to
-flash the kernel alone of B.1.0.
-follow root procedure by flashtool or Bin4ry method.
-Then flash back the corresponding kernel of the ROM.
Done

Ty for all the suggestions. I rly appreciate it. Think i will go for what u suggested first, slimCM. I checked it and it looks nice.. Althou some things are not so clear to me. In both instructions, for slimCM and in patch for locked bootloader it says wipe data or factory reset in recovery. What is recovery? And it also mentions to do the backup of my current ROM. How shall i do that. Wipe data and factory reset means all data gone from phone so i should backup at least photos, music and sms-es to my pc or some app.

That's where you can find recovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2020897
CWM recovery is required to flash custom ROMs or MODs etc.
You can find the wipe data, cache options in the recovery menu. Just back up your contacts, messages and things.
Nothing from SD card will be lost.
Do carefully patch the ROM as per the instructions to make it into locked bootloader.
Copy that zip file in SD card and enter CWM recovery
-flash ROM
Done !

U can root ur device with out touching bootloader dats pretty easier....
but remember after rooting u need to install cwm recovery bcz its used to flash custom roms and rem u can also take take backup of ur entire rom
if anything goes wrong during flashing custom u can easily restore ur device to normal..... by using back up....
flash b.1.10 rom bcz it can be easily rooted by using flashtool......
So finally the process is root first, second recovery and finally flashing rom of ur choice.....
There are so many ROMS in dev section for locked bootloader......
njoyyyyyyyyy............
I ll attach CWM recovery files download and extract.... In the extract folder double click install(.bat file) make sure device connected with debugging mode on..... accept all superuser request on device........aft rooting u ll get super user app in apptry

1- not sure what "built including legacy hacks" means.
2- usually we dont care much about benchmark.
3- everything is working with 3.x kernel except fmradio.
4- not sure about rooting for gb or ics stock rom for lock bootloader, but if u unlock it, rooting is just as simple as flash custom kernel and flash superuser or supersu from cwm recovery. Even some of the custom kernel already include autoroot script.

Sony phones dont have separate/dedicated recovery partitions .So usually custom kernels bundle two or more ramdisks which double up as recovery ..It also means flash_image doesnt work ...Dont try ...We have TWRP on some kernels but it's just a hassle imo ...
If you are planning to unlock bootloader then you dont need to revert to .42/.58 ,
In any case you dont need to fall back for rooting
There are two rooting methods ,one using some custom installer
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219781
and one using the Cydia Impactor

If you are planning to go JB ,you need to have ICS Bootloader which means the .587 firmware has to be flashed with flashtool

Then is there any way that we could flash boot.IMG(which contains recovery) through fast boot?

Lol ...
Thats the ONLY way to flash boot.img ..having unlocked bootloader means access to fastboot to allow custom boot.img...
Fastboot flash boot xyzasdf.img
If you are in locked bootloader ,the recovery lies in /system and is accessed via a custom script...
You can't use flash_image and/or dd to flash kernels in android system or recoveries ...locked or unlocked bootloader...custom kernels has to be flashed using fastboot....it's a limitation of Sony device ...considering you mentioned HTC and 4ext ,you probably had a HTC desire and used flash_image and dd,and the kernels could be flashed using recovery...Not so on Sony devices...

I don't know anything about Sony. Having problems with drivers right now. What do u recommend? Official cm builds or builds present in android development. Also which recovery must be used?

Not sure what you mean ..FXP are the official CM team ,the android dev builds are newer...
Like I said ,you dont have much choice in recovery...
Every boot.img has a recovery...most of them are cwm ,so. Stick with them ...

I doubt that...
The development in the Xperia MDPI section is outrageous...
We have GB to JB 10.2 and ubuntu touch and gecko OS...
You can flash one Rom everyday and still dont run out of roms to flash...

Stock ICS is bit sluggish but GB is just liquid smooth ...
I did use Stock Explorer and it was slow as hell ...nowhere near Xperia mini ...
MDPI processors are far superior with Neon support ..
Probably you should reflash stock firmware...
