Google wallet isn't exactly taking off. There seems to be new issues with it all the time.
Could this be the real reason Wallet doesn't work on the EvoLTE?
This whole payment via a phone is ridiculous. I've commented a few times about it. I was shaking my head when I read a few people was returning phones cause wallet wasn't working. NFC might have a future but the future won't be in payments. I'm just glad I used up my $10.

Sprints mobile payment is listed in the sprint zone app but when you tap it it just loops into page it never finds. Seems like it's a place holder for now.
My phone is rooted unlocked and when I open google wallet it initializes sets up my account but says I have to enable nfc to continue. It's already enabled so I can't get past that part. I really wanted that 10 bucks...

dont have to fumble with cards or touch those nasty card pin machines.

i think the problem is that not alot of places utilize this nfc yet.
its still a very much immature technology

I felt the same way when I first heard about it. After seeing it and using it I have to say that I feel very differently about it. It's a cool idea and very convenient to have all your coupons and loyalty cards in there and automatically applied as you make your purchase. That being said, Isis is the system that will probably win out in the end.

Just as the question states, I was going to go to the Sprint store on my way to work this evening and buy a Evo 3D. However the Sprint account is in my wife's name. I have been able to go up to the same store and upgrade her line for her, get our phones repaired etc. But this will be my first time charging a phone to it.
But my question is, since the account is in my wife's name. Does she has to be present in order for me to bill the account?
The store is an hour drive away for us. But it's near where I work. That's why I wanted to do it then.

If you have the password and pin # to the account you should be all set at any Sprint store. A phone call would be my first choice,to the closest Sprint store.
That's what I was told. As long as you have the pin you should be good. Like Wiley said tho, a phone call wouldn't hurt
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
You shouldn't have a problem. Our phones are in my wife's name because she works for a company that gives us a 23% discount on our bill. Yet I was able to upgrade our phones, swap our numbers around, change phones, etc.
I never needed a bill or anything. Just my name and our account pin number/password.
I called them and asked and they said my wife has to be present. I think they will let me get it though. They know me on a first name basis. I think when I called them though, they had no clue who it was or whatever. But I'll just stop by and see. If they say I need her, then we'll just order online.

This might be a stupid question but so be it. I have an otterbox case on my LTEVO and will the case interfere when trying to make a payment? I don't want to to look stupid trying to make a payment and taking the case off the phone because the little machine couldn't detect the phone/NFC payment or chip or whatever it is.

You know, I don't think that it should, but since the nfc wire thing is in the battery and not in the phone itself I would kinda think that the case itself can interfere with the connectivity of the NFC chip. I guess you just have to try out sorry

Just used mine at McDonalds this morning with the case on.
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
I used mine at rite aid today, didnt work at first but the reason was, because the clerk has to switch it to credit or what not. It wont just work at some places, you have to tell them, "credit please". An usually you will hear something on their side and it will tell you to swipe card, then you just tap your phone.
I have a Seidio’s ACTIVE case and it works great.
Had no problem using mine at McDonald's but messed up the first time I tried it by not holding the phone on the card reader long enough. Once I realized that it works flawlessly.

It definitely doesn't work with all systems that accept paypass. It requires the correct software on the retailers side as well. For example...I went to The Container Store (which fully supports Google Wallet) and tried using my phone. It would beep and my phone would acknowledge that something happened, but it their side couldn't process it. Exact same thing happened at Banana Republic....who also supposedly accepts Google Wallet. I think this will be corrected as time goes on and it's not so "new" anymore though.

When you log into wallet tap on the Google prepaid card and it will bring up another screen and give you the option to add funds to the card...
Im going to agree, having to load it with money from a credit card make wallet totally pointless. Sorry im not going to put money into it, just to get a "wow" out of some under paid cashier.

This stuff is all very new. At the moment, I'd rather add money to Wallet than link it to either my bank account or credit card. Actually, at the moment, unless I have a good reason to use it rather than using my credit card, I wouldn't even use it.

Google wallet is a neat gimmick, maybe it will catch on, maybe it won't. It kind of feels like the 3d screen on the Evo 3d again. It's gimmicky, but it sure is cool.
It's faster debit than the card, hold your phone over the scan pad & keep it moving.
It's a cool way to save for me, plus I hate pending transactions.
Nearly every store has it.
The mastercard paypass app will be key in letting you know if it's worth it. It'll show businesses that have the scanner.

I agree in general with you, but around here, just about the only places that have NFC payment options are 7-11 and CVS. I don't frequent them often enough to bother with Google Wallet. If it were more readily available or in at least one store that I go to often, I'd load up the prepaid card and use it all the time. If it takes off, I'll be on the bandwagon in no time, but for me, right now, it's just cool technology.

Well, I went up to walgreens and they have some stupid advertisement for their rewards cards taped over the sensor. I had a couple behind me and the lady at the register rang me up and gave me the total so I unlocked my screen and put the phone on top of the advertisement they had on it. She and the people behind me just kinda looked at me and I felt stupid. I don't know if it was the advertisement, my rubber case, or me just not leaving it up there long enough but as soon as I felt like a dumbass (which was the second I put it up there) I took it off and dug my wallet out so I could swipe my card. I'm gonna have to practice on a vending machine to get the feel of it. Try case on and case off and see if that makes a difference.

Some NFC terminals you actually have to "tap," not "hover," the phone over in order to wake up the terminal. Just give it a little slap with your phone.

It turns out you can't do that. I went in yesterday and asked a lot of questions. It has to be the device you are currently paying off, as they charge differently for the phones now. You pay it off monthly, with the cost split over 2yrs/24months, around 25$. Then, after a year, you can trade it in, and they zero out the payments, and you start over with a new 'non-contract'.
What I don't like is they are going to start having tiered data plans. I told dude that I like the unlimited data, will I keep it? He said, yes, but said they sell smaller data packages now. Which, by default, makes unlimited more expensive. What a joke!
Bill is gonna go up. The 3 lines I pay for now are 149$ ish on paper, about 190 after taxes. To keep same level of service, on paper would be 240ish, god knows what after taxes. P1ssed off.
If anyone knows differently, please correct me, but this was my understanding after talking with a rep for about 30min.

I'm with you on this one. I talked with a rep about the same thing but I have 5 phones and pay $330.00 now. If i changed it was going towards the $450 range. To me that is crazy.
One up program discontinued as of 01.09.2014 new gimmick is the "Framily" plan. One uppers can continue their program if they wish though.

Does anyone else think the new "Framily plan" is needlessly convoluted?
I mean why get rid of the One Up program?
I won't use either but I was reading over the "Framily plan" and I just tend to think it's gonna be a bust for Sprint. It's going to be hard to manage and most people are going to have a difficult time understanding the details of it.
