I'm getting a lot of background noise no matter which station I listen to.
I tried both the HOX & the S3 & the HOX is as clear as a bell.
Is anyone else getting background with the FM Radio? Its a like a buzzing, whurring sound
Hi
I swapped my one X for the gs3.
I use to face a really annoying issue with the .fm radio on the HTC.
Often when I wanted to deactivate the radio, I didn't have anymore sound in the phone.
I had to go back to the radio app wait for the sound to come back and then deactivate it again. This way the sound was back. Did you notice such a bug ?
Therefore I have also noticed the background noise on the Samsung. I also didn't have that on the HTC.

I'm guessing not many people use the fm radioby the lack of responses.
Even if you don't use it can you have a go & let me know if you have the issues I have mentioned.
Its really poor if this is a fault with the s3
Anyone have a go or having theses issues?
Background noise is noticeable on my device. It might be caused by me not using the intended Samsungs earphones.

I am using far better quality earphones than the ones in the box & I have background hiss.
Me too: Sennheiser IE-80. The FM radio is the only app that produces that hissing noise. Just to be sure, I'll try another radio app later.

Has anyone tried a different radio app?
Is there anyway of letting samsung know about this problem?
Can the Devs do anything about it with their Roms?

I can't get over how poor the incall voice quality is on any Rom including stock. Thought about returning but hoping for a fix. Increases volume with crazyag fix but calls still sound poor often. Its not all the time so that makes it more baffling. Anyone else notice and have any solutions.

I never have issues. More often than not I use a stereo Bluetooth headset. But, the caller sounds crisp and clear to me on stock, S8, UnNamed, MIUI, and ICScreweD.
What exactly do you mean by poor? Low volume? Static? Etc.

It could be a problem with your hardware or your phone's signal. I don't have any problems with call quality.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777
If the problem is echoes heard by the person on the other end - use a case that doesn't suck.
A lot of cases make the echo canceller/noise reduction go nuts.
Its not a case as it happens occasionaly with or without a case. Its hit or miss.

It's not as good as my old iphone 4 but its better than most other phones ive used. The skyrocket had better in call quality to. But this phone is better and i dont talk enough to care. I say try the skyrocket if you dont care about the speed of the device. Or exchange it and see if the new one is any better

Talking isn't a big priority for me either but very frustrating when i do. Maybe ics will help. Strangely task's Rom seems to be the best so far. Just installed iscrewd so maybe that will be the ticket.

I've had people complain to me that the audio quality has been irregular on speaker phone and bluetooth. Some people have even told me it is echo-ish.
Mine sounds fine to callers, i just can't understand people sometimes due to low quality/clarity

Is it just as hard to understand various people from various phones? Or do some people from different phones sound better than other people/phones?

i've been told that sometimes i suddenly start to sound like i'm a million miles away even though i didn't move the phone away from my ear.
kind of annoying because it doesn't go away until i hang up and re-dial the number. had the same problem with my skyrocket but never with iphone....
and this is with no case. still waiting for my otterbox commuter in the mail.
No issues here either, clear call quality. I came from a 3GS and 4 where my gf would tell me it would sound like an echo (no cases) or distance sometimes like mentioned above. Said that hasn't happened with this new phone and i sound clearer when calling her.
Not to confuse the op, but this issue in regards to what im hearing not what the other end hears and its sporadic too. I never get complaints from callers, i just can't understand them sometimes.

Hello good people of XDA!
I'll just get straight to it, well basically due to some water damage the main mic on my s2 is screwed, it just produces weird static for the other person to hear on call. I intent to get it fixed soon but just havent found the time. I believe there are two mics on the S2, so I was wondering: is there some way I switch to that for phone calls, for the time being?
Im rooted btw
Could you share your rom details for further advise

Im not aware of any but there could be some hack to enable it as the primary microphone. Its the noise cancellation input mic. Its located at the top right side of the phone besides the audio jack. Would be hard to talk into it and hear the other person at the same time, wouldn't it?

I use, mic-less earphones (ear buds or whatever you call them ) so thats not a problem. A hack of that sort is exactly what I am looking for ^^
I know I could just get some earphones with inbuilt mic but If im going to do that, I might as well get my phone fixed instead
bump?
Anyone?
why don't you simply repair it? Or you like your phone being crippled in this way...
Im out of town and in a place where i cant find a reliable place to fix it, im going back in like 4 days. So just need a simple hack for the moment
I haven't seen a thread like this but its really annoying. When I plug my phone into certain speakers and the data arrows come on, a loud squealing noise come from the speakers. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem?

It's feedback from the 4G radios interfering with the amp I believe. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong though.

Aside from that? Due to this phones limited onboard storage I frequently stream music from my Google Play account. And its kinda hard to do that in airplane mode lol

try connecting to wifi if you can. It is interfering with the speaker.
I know my gaming headset crackels whenever I get a text message without it being connected to the headset, it is just interfering with the speakers

Hmmm makes sense. Is there any way to disable the amp if that's what's getting interference?

Its actually not headphones. I use the beats that came with my Rezound. Its only with speakers it seems like
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk 2
Sounds like it only seems to happen on low impedance speakers/inputs. You might just need to stick with headphones or use some kind of external pre-amp. This is somewhat disappointing news, although I don't listen to music from my phone much.
Noticed crackling and static when on 4G streams of Pandora. Happens with headphones or hooked up to a mixer and speakers (higher impedance). Doesn't happen with the WiFi enabled for streaming, so I'm going to say Argumentation's explanation seems spot on... Just thinking out loud here, but would there be a way to slow down to 3G speeds for streaming? Sounds counter-intuitive as far as speed is concerned, but if it's the 4G that's causing interference, then maybe that will take care of it?
My girlfriend and I both have Rezounds she however likes to talk with hers between her face and shoulder while busy doing other things. When she does so she sounds very distant and barely audible. Is there anyway to anyway to get around this? She is rooted running CleanRom DE 1.4 if that helps.
I've had multiple cln rezounds and everyone of them I've had, ive gotten complaints about my voice going in and out, unfortunately i think it's just how the rezound was made.
sent from my htc rezound s-off running viperrez with snuzzo 2.2 kernel...
I think you should try updating to either OTA or global firmware and trying some different roms based on those. If it only gets halfway better that would probably still be a big difference. It won't fix a hardware issue but just software may make some difference.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda premium
The problem is that the rezound uses two mics and a proximity sensor to tell when your face is right up against it. Too much movement of the phone and it switches between modes...causing the audio to sound super compressed for a couple seconds.
Get her a Bluetooth she can hide under her hair

I had the same problem with the mic and Bluetooth. I found turning off voice privacy worked for me.

As soon as I have the chance I am AT LEAST going to get her onto the global update. I think while I am at it I might as well s-off her phone before that maybe get her on a decent new rom.
I wonder if using one of the asop roms where you need to tweak the proximity sensor anyway if there is something in doing that which could help? *shrug*
When it comes to using a Bluetooth she has one but she never thinks about it so she rarely wears hers.

I tried the voice privacy and haven't noticed a big difference maybe a little bit but a little bit is better than nothing I suppose. Thanks for the suggestion.
So I have had bluetooth problems with this phone sine day one.. On all my roms and even after getting a replacement phone. I also have used 3 different bluetooth headsets on it.. Is this just me or a wide spread problem?

I did have some problems before and most of the time it was fixed by increasing the max frequency while screen was off ( I was using viper rom or meanbean), I don't know what rom you are having trouble with and also Bluetooth is really sensitive to interference specially in open spaces, I work outside and I've noticed that if I wave my hand right next to my handset while on a phone call, I get the static and crackling noise you might be referring to, but if I'm in my house I dont get the same result... What rom are you using? Kernel? Scheduler? Or app to set your frequencies? I'm on cm 10.1 and this is my second replacement which doesn't like over clock without the kernel stabilizer made by Viperboy and I'm currently using Komodo rls 30, I don't have that static anymore... :good:
Hatkalte 1.3.2... But it happens on all roms. Also it crackles and then disconnects and then reconnects.. And then cycles again.. It's so annoying.

Ok, my bluetooth died at the end and would not be recognized nor recognize any device that I had previously paired with my phone so I had to use VipeRuu and got it replaced, this is my second replacement after that bluetooth failure... Good luck, you might have a hardware issue like mine was, I won't be surprised if in a couple days it dies completely just like my original evo lte, have you tried stock rom?
Sent from my EVO
I've had issues as well. The best performance I had was on an aosp rom. I was able to walk a crossed 8 bays and through a door and still pick up my music playing. I've noticed sometimes while doing yard work that the music would be very choppy. My buddy has an lte and the same LG tone headset and has the same problems. Hopefully when I get my new s4 my problems will be solved. I'll report back when I verify if it is the phone or the headset or just bluetooth in general.
