Hi, I wanted to know wether anyone else's USB port gets so sluggish this fast. I bought my Xperia s in April and the USB cable sits very loosely in the port in the phone. I had this on my og droid before and it nearly fell out of the phone when you moved it. I am scared this might happen to the xperia s as well.
So does anyone else experience this or is it just me?

um i had this phone for like nearly 2 months and it seems fine for me.
either youre not removing it properly or you just have a bad phone.
dont wiggle it out when you discharge it.
just pull it out. lol

When I'm attempting to charge my atrix on PC or Wall Mount the touch screen response is terrible. I can't even unlock my phone and it's really annoying. Is there a fix to this?!

If your trying to do it on a desk, without holding it in your hand, it can wonk out and not respond correctly (quite frustrating when developing). Also, I have seen this before on my old iDevide, the power/grounding electrical stuff.can mess with touch sensativity. If it is really annoying you, maybe you have a defective unit and so go get it replaced. I can't vouch for what you are saying when u plug it in it stops working though. I have an otterbox defender on my phone.
Just mah 2 cents.

If you are not using an original charger or USB cable, it may happen. It happened to me with a Moto Milestone.
If actually your charger and cable are original, then your phone might be defective
Someone in Milestone 2 forum suggested use of a longer usb to microusb cable .. something around 1.5 m would do

I was just wondering something. I noticed that the charger port on the phone is exactly the same as the ports on portable hard drives, like the Western Digital My Passport, and I'm sure many others.
With the hard drive, I noticed that the connection between the wire and the port wore out really fast, like within 1-2 months, not really unplugging/plugging it back in often. What happened was the connector became really loose and would become disconnected seemingly on a whim. You moved the unit ever so slightly and it was disconnected.
Since the charger port on the phone is the same as the ones on the drive, I'm kinda worried of it happening to the phone. I know it's probably because I'm just a little jaded because I went through something similar before, or if it's become an issue later on down the road, but I thought I should bring it up none the less.
Anyone else have any input? I'm curious to hear if anyone else has or hasn't had issues like this in the past. Maybe you can help put my fears about this to rest. ^^;
I had my EVO Shift for 5 months before I bought my 3D and I use my phone a lot at work, so I plug it in sometimes up to 6 times a day. The charger port on the Shift is still solid, working great and not wobbly or anything. It seems like you should be ok, at least with my experience it seems that way, others may have other experiences with the charger ports. I'm really careful when I plug it in, and not so much when I unplug it, so I am a little rough on it too.
It looks the same because it is a standard size port. Port type is not equal to quality of port. I had my og evo for a year with the same port with zero problems... and I wasn't gentle.
Chances are your cable will wear out LONG before the port will. If the port doesn't go bad in the first few days it'll be good for years.
.... What everyone else said.

Cool. Thanks for the quick input. I think then I can relax now. ^^
If it is as good as the EVO 4G it won't wear out if not abused. If it is like my old blackberry then we are in trouble.
Well guys, this is basically my last resort. Title says it all, really, my Atrix absolutely refuses to charge unless placed in my lapdock.
Originally, I was just thinking this was a bad charge/usb cable. Tried all of them in my house and at work. Nothing.
Next, I assumed it was a battery problem. Wrong again. My battery in my brother's Droid X works perfectly. If that wasn't enough proof, I work for an AT&T retailer, and a few days ago a customer traded in an original Atrix. I immediately took their battery and tried it in mine. Same thing.
Alright, ROM issue, perhaps. Flashed multiple versions of CM9 by Turl and Jokersax, and the Nuetrino builds. Notta.
I finally begin to tell myself it was just a faulty charge port, and that I'd need to have it repaired. Out of other options, I placed it in my lapdock. Lo and behold, she charges up, every single time.
Anyone have ANY idea why this would be happening?
I've already attempted taking the phone apart and checking the connections inside. I'm no technician, but everything seemed fine. Slight problem there, my cheap screw driver stripped 2 of those T5 torx screws during reassembly, so now I've gotta find a way to get those out before I can get inside again, if necessary. Ugh.
It's obviously not really realistic to carry my lapdock with me everywhere, although that's been my only option as of late.
If any of you guys can suggest a solution, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Help me out, fellow Atrix users.
I see you tried a different cable, but did you try a different USB wall plug? Had a similar thing happen to me about 4 months ago. Could only get my phone to fully charge on lapdock. Ended up buying a new OEM USB wallcharger off eBay. Charges fine with new charge. Old charger went bad. I would try a different charger.

I've tried literally every cable and wall plug I could find. As I said, I work at an AT&T retail store, so I've had access to tons of them. Nothing has worked so far.
Sorry for your luck. I'm pretty sure the Tom has nothing to do with charging as you can charge the phone while its off.
If its charging on the dock correctly, then I would think the phone is fine and there must be something wrong with the chargers you are trying.
Are the other chargers you are trying brand new OEM Motorola ones or aftermarket?

Both. No results.
You mention charging the phone while off... mine doesn't do that anymore either, or power on at all with the battery taken out.
I'm wondering if there is some kind of short in the charge port that requires HDMI to be plugged in before it will receive current. Odd theory, I know, but it makes enough sense given the evidence.
I feel the charing cable pin is a little loose. I mean its wobbles a little bit. I mean when you plug the charger into the phone the pin connection is a little loose for my liking. I don't loose charge or anything but it does come out pretty easily. My s3 charging pins were more stable. Is it just me or anyone else noticed this too ?
Mine feels normal. Then again my nexus was really lose v

Mine is the same way. My s3 was solid. It seems if you look at the charger from the back it doesn't go in to the phone as far as it did with the S3. I can only assume that this has something to do with it.

My phone, and my fiancé's phone are exactly the same. We took them into verizon today to be checked. Two different people said this is common and that there was nothing they could do. I asked if we could check another cable or if they could check another note 2 and they said it'll be the same.
when the micro usb is plugged in, it will randomly fall out or will fall out if you pick up the phone. Seems pretty bad to me, but not a big enough problem for verizon to do anything.
Hey there xda'ers!
I just picked up a Titan 4G for $30  I always wanted one, I'm using an S3 right now and I plan on switching back and forth at my leisure.
The problem with the Titan is the charger port is VERY finicky. You have to really push the micro USB in and get it in just right for it to charge.
I found replacement ones on eBay for around $7ish. Has anyone replaced one before? Do you guys have any tips?
Thanks to all in advance!
Anyone?

have you checked there's no fluff in the original one? mine sometimes looks like it's charging, (ie light comes on red), but never gets charged. this usually means there's fluff inside the usb port and a good hard blow, (pardon the expression), sorts it out...

Sadly, the previous owner must have forced a mini usb into the jack or something, since all the pins are bent in. Or, it may have been dropped on the charger port while plugged in. All in all, the phone is in great shape for what I paid for it, as I always had a fascination with WP7.
I got a quote for $60-$70 to have the new USB port installed since it has to be soldered.
Even still, I plan on keeping it and ordering a back up battery charger from eBay since the phone is easily a 8/10 condition wise and I have already unlocked it :good:
