as a topic on how to reset the flash in I9300 counter after uploading CF-Root plug JIG??
USB JIG does not work on S3 to reset flash counter
If you want to reset your flash counter, the only way is to use Triangle Away app by chainfire

Hi,
Litepro never claimed that flashing his rom doesn't count!
By using ODIN, the binary will count for lite'tning rom or any other rom as it's not an official tool as Kies.
Any way, you can delete the yellow triangle that appears on boot by flashing an original samsung kernel according to the version that you've already installed.
Or , you can buy an USB JIG to reset the binary counter.
cheers!
Hello.
I have some questions regarding the warranty and the download counter / custom Roms
I found a counter (download mode) for non samsung installed roms.
Has the counter any impact regarding the warranty?
Is it possible to reset the counter with the USB Jig?
If i flash a custom Recovery via fastoot (http://droidbasement.com/db-blog/). Recognize the counter this as a non Samsung FW?
Greetings
Hello all you experts out there i need some help if at all possible,
I have been flashing my galaxy s2 and have clocked up a binary count of 12 and would like to reset to 0.
I used odin and re-flashed to stock I9100XWKE7_I9100XXKE4_I9100XEUKD1
then did a factory re-set.
then plugged in kies and it automaticly updated to latest firmware XWKI4.
Then i turned phone off booted in to download mode and inserted my jig to reset the counter but it didn't work.
what am i doing wrong????

Use Ctrl-F in your browser to find the description for GT-I9100_OLD_BOOTLOADER.7z. Download it and flash it using Odin, then use your jig to reset the binary counter.
You should change your bootloader to an old one.. New bootloaders are not reseting counter..
Here is the old one:

Flashing with Mobile ODIN does NOT increase your custom kernel flash counter or make the yellow warning triangle appear. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347899
Thanks to all for the help
i'll certainly look at mobile odin, but how do i use this ctrl thingy
Put jig in before rebooting normally (not into download mode) the device with jig in will automatically boot into download mode. If you are on old bootloader it will reset.
If not intratech has the old bootloader for download in his official firmware thread. Read down from 1st post till you find it. Instructions are there also.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
I've been curious on how the triangle and the flash counter works. So, please consider the following scenarios and answer accordingly:
Flash a...
1. a fully stock ROM via...
a. Odin
b. Mobile Odin.
c. CWM (going from a custom ROM).
2. a modified Samsung ROM like this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1704185 which include very minimal stuff via...
a. CWM
b. Mobile Odin (is it even possible considering that it is a zip file?)
3. an AOSP ROM via any method.
And finally
4. If you had a triangle and then flashed a stock ROM does it disappear?
Thank you guys and I would be very grateful if you answer these questions.
There is no triangle on SGS3, only the flash counter (and a device status in phone settings)
Flashing with odin will increase your flash counter except if you're flashing a stock rom from Samsung
Flashing with mobile odin will not increase your flash counter
Flashing with CWM should not increase your flash counter
If you flash a stock rom, it will not reset your flash counter
You can reset your flash counter with triangle away (need root) from chainfire BUT you will have to reflash a stock rom in order to reset the device status

Thank you very much. I was under the illusion that it had a triangle like SGS2.
yes the s2 has the triangle
the s3 doesnt
but if u want to reset the costume binary counter u can use the triangle away app
I have Rooted my Galaxy S 3 GT-I9300 . now I want to unroot it and reset the flash counter
I have tried to do that ( 3 times ) Using Triangle away :
1- I've got into Triangle away Hit Reset flash counter in Triangle away.
2- after restarting my device I got into SuperSU > Settings > Full Unroot.
3- Restarted my device , now there is no Root access.
but when I get into Odin mode ( Binary Counter : Custom (Yes : 3) )
is there any way to reset Binary Counter ?
Thank you .
You must have the original Kernel and Recovery to reset the binary counter.

Stock not original .
Flash back to stock and root
i made this mistake before.
First lets say you are rooted running Cm11 ok.
what we have to do now is go to your pc and flash back to stock 4.3
then you root it again
install triangle away and reset it
then you reflash your s3 back to stock and it will be as of new e.g. all warranty back and flash counter will say none/no
Hope this helped?
