is there any dev who can create a 1% battery mod for the ics leaks, especially .209? i tried the UOT kitchen but it only reads in increments of 10%.
im also curious if anyone might be willing to try to deodex the rom for modding?
+1
No offense, but if the OTA ICS is supposed to be just around the corner why should the DEV's waste time on something that will be lucky to be finished before its even obsolete. Just doesn't seem like a smart way to spend there time to me.
If your in that dire need of a 1% indicator just slap a 1x1 circle battery widget to your main home screen.
I'd like to share your optimism that the moto's ICS will work on 1% basis instead of 10%.
Of course there are some overworks (I am using battery indicator pro to get 1% accuracy) but it would be nice to have the 1% mod so no other applications are needed....
Even if ICS runs 10%, the devs would be better off modding that when it comes out.
I think thats what the response was meant to mean.

Well.. "Battery Circle" from the Play store seems to do get the job done, provides 1% accuracy and seems pretty accurate to me
once your used to a mod, it's hard to give it up. uot kitchen states it can cook odexed roms but it did not.

thats not what I meant, I highly doubt out of the box ICS to do 1%, what I meant was why should they right code for a leak, just to have to rewrite the code a week later when the official releases.
Badass Battery Monitor also works on 209, with 1% steps.

yeah but i don't want a extra app to accomplish what could be done by simply deodexing the ics leak. i hope a dev takes this on soon, it's driving me nuts.
I use badass battery monitor also. I even made a n add-on using eclipse battery icons. It is irritating to have an extra app, but I have grown fond of it now. I know I will always have 1%.
I can say, as someone who deodexes roms, until the OTA is released I do not plan on deodexing the leaks. Mostly due to the fact that leaks are not final, and there is a new leak quite often.
You could try sp_hicks09 KOA Rom. It works on any ICS Leak.

yeah i tried to deodex myself today and it's a nightmare. too bad we do not know when the ota will be out. as far as aokp and cm9 im not fond of the data drops, that's why ive been modding the stock .209. ive done everything but add battery %.

ok so i am on ginger 2.3.3 with a day one x10a baceband 71 rooted with Custom boot loader so i can literally do anything except gain more battery life. i have tried ATK in the past and ditched it for Battery doctor cause i found when you charge with battery doctor i get about 6 more hours out of my phone. ad that to my 1800mAh battery from mugen power and i'm getting about 12 more hours then i did when i got the dang thing. killing tasks all the time deferentially helps. all in all i get about 24 hours...
what i'd really like is a custom rom that is Ginger that's whole point is battery life... i'd really like to forget to plug my phone in and not panic in the morning cause i'm at 10%
i have looked though allot of roms but can't seem to find anything with all the battery eating junk ripped out it seems most of them are putting more junk in
Are there any good LITE roms out there?

V3.0.0 is not long last battery life... but V2.1.1 is very good for battery life
Did you check my screen shot regarding with battery life
try team rom it has decent battery life and is very fast and responsive
Sound to me more like it your habit rather than ROM/Hardware .
I wound't begin the debate here about ATK, but since your post doesn't provide any technical info. Let's try this..
> Seriously, stop using ATK.. it would just HIDE the real problems.
> Remove all unnecessary widget... clock, time, weather, photo, blah blah
> Wait for a few hour, is it significantly better?
> Remove some background-apps; viber, whatsapp, skype, trillion, imo, msg, brb, blah, blah, blah
> Wait for a few hour, is it better?
Well, it should... (definately )
Some geeks down here... skip it if you're lazy.
Actually, you will need to understand something that it's not really about ROM.
Most custom ROM provide you some 'minfree' tweak. Let's make it simple.
Case 1, minfree is 60MB (most custom ROMs)
> droid will just fill the memory with lots of apps till RAM is 60MB.
> droid will start killing the task aggressively when RAM is below 60MB.
Case 2, same thing with 30MB (Stock ROM)
> droid will just fill the memory with lots of apps till RAM is 30MB.
> droid will start killing the task aggressively when RAM is below 30MB.
So, using ATK means....you shot everything to pieces, and droid just recovers it back..
or.............................you and droid trying to shot everything down.....
doesn't sound useful.. does it?
ATK is then.. useless.. unless there are some legacy no brainer app eating CPU and tell droid that 'I'm busy doing my (stupid) job, go away and don't kill me'.
Alright, that's NOT the point about ATK.
My point is, if you having too much apps, beyond 'minfree' level, there is no way you can save the battery whether using ATK or droid itself.... ATK just hide it, and make it worse.
This is why most people get a decent battery life with stock, since it provides lowest minfree level (around simple 30MB), with a cost of system performance, which is one of the reason that stock one is the slowest one.
So, what you need to do is to adjust number of your running apps, close to the minfree level.
Or adjust the minfree level (autokiller memory optimizer?) to match your current usage.
So, all in all, if you're using custom ROMs, stop using ATK, uninstall any stupid apps till free memory is running around 60-80MB. This will give you 'optimal' (not best) battery life.
384MB is not decent enough for X10 to become a multitasking speedy beauty with decent battery life.

Try installing JuceDefender from the market. If after trying it for awhile you find an extreme difference in battery life then your problem is probably with one of your apps accessing Wifi / Wireless data all the time.
Another thing that could be causing it is if you're in a very low signal area. Where I used to work, I was lucky to get 12 hours out of my phone. Right now, it's been off the charger for 11.5 hrs and I'm down to 82%. In this case shutting of wifi and wireless data will help.
Sorry I can't offer any more suggestions. Good luck man.
I use battery Dr. for killing tasks as it helps by doing calibration charges when you charge your phone from under 20%. So I get more battery life than I did with juice defender
Also I get full bars on an hsps network at both home and work

I agree, I use JiuceDefender and if you take the time to set all the profiles it will help alot. Service area signal is also a key to battery life. Also try Battery Calibration App from the market, it will reset your battery stats. Make sure and leave the app open untill battery charges to 100%. Then let battery go till phone shuts down and charge again to 100%, That has been the best fix for me, plus Wolfberak's 2.3 rom's.
Ya using wolf note and I'm liking it.it's giving me my 3 days so I'm good.... I'd like to point out that juice defender as a few cool features but battery doctor seems to work better it has full cycle charging built in as well

I'm using Seraphim and I'm happy with the battery life. It seems to be worse than the GB ROM but I can get about 2% down every hour when the phone is idle.
I am thinking of trying different ROMs and battery life is very important to me. Which ROM will give the phone a better battery life based on your experience?
Thanks.

ah ok, im in search of a good ics battery friendly rom as well, actually downloading dag's ics "hybrid" rt now. i'll give it a go for the next couple days and post back. i was seeing about the same as you for seraphim.
In my experience, unless there's a bug, a ROM has little effect on battery life. Android is going to use a certain amount of power to run itself, and there is little that a dev can cook into a ROM to change this. Beyond the system, battery usage is from the screen, apps, and radios. If you are in an area with poor reception, and have lots of apps and widgets that frequently update in the background, this will decrease battery life.
I've used both DaGr8's Alpha II and Seraphim, and my battery drains less than 1% per hour when idling.
Guys a Search would have told you that Battery life is 99% on the user and has almost nothing to do with the rom. We could be running the exact same rom and get very different battery lifes due to the apps we use and how we have the device set up.
In the end there is not best rom. Only what works best for you.

Hey all...
Right now i'm running the ICS leak, i just bought this Razr Maxx a few days ago so i'm new to Rooting and Rom'ing scene on this model phone...
I used the Stock GB 173, also the 181 update for a whole day... it was so drastically messy i almost took the phone back to the store... it was LOADED with bloatware bull crap... and the battery life was dropping 10% every 1-2 hours. For a 3200 Mah phone that is just insane.
So i put the ICS leak on it. and well... it feels slow and studdery.. just not silky smooth or fast. Also the battery life is still REALLY bad.. and i'm running 40% screen brightness.. and ZERO widgets on my homescreen.. i'm having to use launcher pro with literally nothing on my screen and it appears to be better battery life now.
-----------------------------------
Sorry for the long opening, here's my question.. what's the BEST Rom out there? i'll even go back to GB if i have to... one that has ZERO bloatware crap on it.. and everything works? I mean.. i found a couple but then the OP's in the rom say stuff like "everything works except camera"
I want a rom that is Fast, Silky smooth, and every single STOCK feature of the phone works, Wifi/Radio Camera... etc...
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Btw why isn't there a Cyanogen build for this?

Just have a better look into the forums, then you would see that there IS a Cyanogenmod Rom for the Razr. On all custom roms the camera is working fine except the camcorder. So if you can live without recording videos, you can flash one of these roms. The best one is Black Widow ICS, very fast, stable and smooth.
By the way: In the next few days or til the end of this month, camcorder etc. will be available for every custom rom.
It's possible you have a defective phone. There is no reason that your battery should drop 10% every hour or two unless you are using it heavily.

Agreed. My Razr didn't drop nearly that fast on stock, so your Maxx should definitely not be.
Eclipse 1.3 is great for battery. It's GB-based but with the ICS look. I'm on the .75 leak now with no problems. I upgraded from GB for Chrome and Apex.
By the way, got 28 hours out of my battery yesterday before putting it on the charger just a little while ago. It was mild use (as I was asleep for about 9 hours), but that still shows something is wrong with your phone or what you're running on it.
I would also recommend a full factory reset. I usually reset right outta the box, since quality tests are run on each phone as they come off the production line.

Are you sure on the RAZR leak and not just an ICS ROM? depending on WHICH leak youre on you may NOT be able to get back.. whats your build number?
I am on one of the stuck leaks and I tell you it runs beautifully... the ICS ROMS were all jittery and all though...

Battery life if just amazing, I do not remember such numbers recently. I am getting 10-15% battery drain per DAY.
Hey everyone =)
After a couple of tweaks and realizing how AMAZING "smart actions" are.. my battery life is massive now..
I saw "Smart actions" pop up when i first started using the phone and it intimated me at first b/c frankly... i took almost ALL the apps on here with a grain of salt i feel like they are just more bloatware.. so i didn't even give it a chance.
I started using the "battery saver" Smart action, and wow... my b life is freaking amazing now.
What are the settings that u r using for smart actions.
Sorry to hear your experience.
I can't comment on the romming part because I don't use my Razr Maxx for roms, that is my GNex's job. but for battery, yours seems abnormal.

Just throwing this out there, I have played around with a few of the ICS roms, using safestrap installs, to retain the back to GB option. I have found that I get about 50% less battery life on the ICS roms. On an average day I use my phone moderately, past two day, back on GB, at around this time of day I am at about 60% battery. While on ICS leaks, I was at about 30% with similar use throughout the day. Anyone else have such a stark difference with ICS?

I have stayed on the Roms for several days(a week on first round of trying them out) and still much worse battery life. You are on the GSM Razr? I am on CDMA, you know of any difference with radios that would cause the difference? Generally have LTE off both GB and ICS.

I was a bit hesitant to agree about there being a battery issue, until i was satisfied that id had enough time with the ROM.
But the truth is in the pudding so to say... I am able to make it through the day but i am getting at best 2/3 the amount i was on gingerbread.
9.5 hours of battery, 80% of which was taken up by screen time of 4hrs.
Yesterday i was convinced battery was fine, today i know there's something's amiss

I have found the exact opposite. My office gets horrible cell reception and my phone was constantly trying to connect on gingerbread. It would always show the kernel as using the majority of the battery. Since ICS my phone rarely drops connection and my kernel now barely consumes any battery. I'm making it until five everyday with 50% battery left while with gingerbread my phone was always dead by five.

I was in the soak test, 1st I got the standard email getting everyone's opinions of the soak. Then yesterday I got a 2nd email from the MFN for a 2nd survey. This 2nd survey was all about the battery life. So, yeah, Moto knows that there are some issues with decreased battery life. I've noticed a decrease in battery life. Even so, I'm still happy with ICS. Most of the issues I've noticed have more to do with apps than ICS itself. Some apps, when I want to go back a screen, it instead takes me all the way out. Even the XDA app does this. Anyone else notice this issue?
I'm not 100% sure what the cause of the battery issue is.
In my case, on GB I would could typically go from about 6AM to 4PM before I would need to charge it again on a normal Droid RAZR. On ICS, at first I could only go for only about 2-3 hours before experiencing a 50% drop in power - meaning only about 5 hours before needing to hit the charger. For this reason, and other issues, I opted to perform a Factory Reset. It solved the problems I experienced, including my battery issue. On ICS, I can now go from 6AM to 6PM with a battery meter reading of 50%. Translation - for the first time with this phone and normal use (for me) I can go all day without having to worry about a charger. So, this is a huge improvement. But it did require a Factory Reset for me to get this level of performance.
I would like to be able to say the same but.... I did a factory reset before and after loading ics.

Just curious, when you installed, how did you go about installing/reinstalling your apps? When I did the reset, I just let Google Play do it automagically for me. It got me about 90% there. There were a few things I needed to add and configure. Also, I stopped using another launcher and just went with ICS. I don't know if those are differences that might make a different or not.
I actually did not let google restore anything. I wanted a fresh base to work off of. Installed from market one at a time.

Actually the first china leak (120) gave my battery a lot more usage time, significantly.
But when i switched to MIUI rom my battery life significantly dropped down, every minute of usage=1% of battery .
Try to use the stock rom for a couple of days,at least the stock leaked china rom has very good battery life for GSM devices .
I've had ICS for a week now. At first my battery didn't lady add long. But after a few days and a FDR it its lasting longer than it did on gb.

My battery is slightly less on ICS, but not dramatically different. I can confirm it's not my usage or imagination either. Battery stats show "Android OS" is using 5-10% more than it did with GB.

Values 5-10% for "Android OS" are the values of my dreams as I am used to +/-25% on the GB...
Okay. So I am currently running shostock3 on my sgs2 with siyah kernal. I read the article from zedomax on galaxys2root.com that it has very good battery life and very stable but when i am running it, I have terrible battery life and i am currently underclocked or whatever the word is. Is there anyway to fix this?
My advice, run SHOstock3 as it was released. It runs great as shoman94 dev'd it.
...and stay away from that web site u mentioned.
Stick to XDA. Period!

Yes. I'm running shostock3 with the included kernel and get good battery life.

Getting great battery life on Shostock3 V3.0. Flashed the AJK 1.52s kernel. Checkout Better battery stats...see if you have wakelocks killing your battery. And..I agree that website is no good..stick to XDA.

Most people get really good battery life on SHOstock3. Just search the SHOstock3 thread for the word battery to see what I mean. If you're not getting good battery life, you need to find out what in your configuration is causing the problem, and fix it. There is a thread in the general section started by Entropy512 that you should study to help you identify where the problem is.
I was on GB ShoStock for a long time thinking ICS and JB would never leave me satisfied on battery life.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1353513
Finally came to my senses and tried out ShoStock 3 and have never looked back. To make it short the best Rom Ive ever flashed for any device I have had in the present and past.
You definitely have a rogue app killing your battery, find out which one it is and uninstall.

Sorry you have battery life problems.
I have been running Shostock3 since it came out (it's version 3.02 today!), but I also been on and off at least five (wow can it be that many?) JB roms on my SGH-i777 (won't even mention the # GB roms here!). After trying many, I must agree with the other posters who state that this rom delivers very good battery life when compared to stock and when compared with other custom roms.
Lately, it has delivered the best battery life I have ever had on this phone using any rom (although SlimBean JB provided very very good battery life for me recently as well! Also UnNamed was great for battery life in the old GB days )
I followed the recommendations made by creepyncrawly to read Entropy's (& others) battery notes/faqs. They provide some really good background, some with that typical "XDA flavor" (read technical!. That material, plus some more plain old simple user adjustments to how and what I use on the phone have improved my phone's battery time; and it might help you as well.
It really boils down to the fact that each phone user loads different apps and our usage patterns vary.
Assume that you've flashed it and let it settle for a few days and several recharge cycles. After doing this you can see what YOUR "norms" are. They may be good or bad, but that's the baseline for you with this rom and with the apps and usage pattern you have.
(You can tweak voltage and speed (well, not speed on SS3!), but my experience has been that the more noticeable changes will be by adjusting your pattern of use, or doing the "hunt for the app" (or apps) that are burning down your run times when not in use.
Not many here seem to like or do this, but I would also try one of those "help-you-with-battery-use" apps --like juice defender (Ok, I get that many here seem to think it a waste, but it really did help me --a little-- when I used it); or get DS Battery saver (a bit more aggressive and noticeable, but you also notice the lag while you wait for things to turn on when you want them).
Actually, these may not be precision solutions, and don't focus on your specific phone app use, but they do work in a macro way to slow battery use and simply working with them for a few days or weeks will provide you with a better a sense of what the heck is going on under the plastic; they will cause you to look at what you have/run and when.
Oh, this includes using Better Battery Stats, which is fine for reporting out exactly which the apps behave --or don't-- and by how much and when. I'm not slow (well, that slow but it frankly, it took me quite a while to figure out what I was reading in the BBS readouts and what they meant! (Now, after a year+ or so of using it, I don't even have it loaded, since I've done the fiddling I need --and BBS, plus those other battery apps, helped me to figure out what apps worked well, what apps I was willing to sacrifice battery on and what apps were useless and should be tossed.)
Finally, some roms just don't work for people! So it's not worth the frustration chasing something you may not be able to achieve with this or another rom. (You probably read how individuals have problems that you don't -yet, you run the same rom and the same phone! That is our world. So, too, you will read about some who make amazing claims on how long they continue on one charge. Some are pretty amazing, and some may even be real
My final five cents would be:
#1 run the rom a couple of days, get a baseline. Then switch from Jeboo kernel to AJK's latest for TW (I think it is 1.25ss, but I really also had great results from 1.48s) and run it a few more days. They were pretty much even for me, but others find one or the other kernel makes a real difference!). Compare after doing the same activities through a charge or two.
#2 If your battery life remains "poor," note what poor really is (ex. how much screen time? and how much total run time prior to getting to zero or 10-15%? ...something like that).
#3. Then get BBS and one of the "automatic" battery-saver programs and work with it for about 4-5 days and that many recharge cycles. See what your norms are but do it for the same type of usage!!! If better while using the battery fixers, then you can work at picking off the app or apps that are sucking your battery more than you want. Not as tedious as it sounds. Of course, staying with a rom for three weeks might be a challenge , but this is a nice rom to work with.
#4. I don't think you will need to under-volt to get good BL. I wonder if your phone is stable in doing that? Or, does it induce additional lag? That might be a high price to pay for more run time. (You could compare the UV results with your "norm" as well!)
#5. Finally, we are on Galaxy S2 Sgh-i777 -and can change batteries all day long for not so much per battery! It is not elegant, but it works. (Done it myself several times -even with good battery life).
Good Luck!
Best ROM, Good battery life... been with Shoman's ROM since shostock2 never have a problem with the battery life...
