I searched through the forums and could not find a topic. How do I transfer files using Nfc ? Like my friend has Samsung galaxy nexus and we bumped the phones with Nfc on. They vibrated yes but is there not interface or any notification?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA
let's say there phone named A and B.
A will send file to B, so A must open the file first.
While the file opened, bring A close to B (back to back) and when there's a vibration, touch the screen on A, then the file will automatically send to B.
Sorry my bad english

I tried this as well with my mates HTC One X and found that contacts would beam but nothing else would. I found by switching from Sbeam to Android beam it started sending images and music files.
NFC works very well. I can transfer videos, pics, contacts, webpages.. in fact it uses wifi direct

NFC and Wi-Fi direct are different protocols, NFC has much smaller range for starters.
Lol anyone want to tell me how to transfer files using Nfc ?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA
make sure both devices have NFC > switch on NFC on both devices > go to gallery > pick and image > touch the back of both devices together > you will hear an audible noise and the screen will pan out > click the image and it "beam" over
thats only for images but the same steps apply.

True, however Samsung's prorietary S-Beam allows devices to automatically enable peer and send the file over Wifi-Direct if it makes sense due to the file's size.
It won't, as already stated, work with non Samsing-devices or with devices without S-Beam, you'll have to use the Stock Android NFC for that.

I have two EVO LTE phones and when I bump the backs together they play an audible tone and vibrate so I know they are connecting with NFC but I can not for the life of me figure out how to transfer a file from one phone to the other. Does anyone have experience with this and can explain how to do it? Thanks in advance for any responses.

Can't transfer files only smaller things like vCards, browser links, youtube links. HTC hasn't added the ability to add other things yet. Samsung built on Beam using wifi direct so i would be surprised to see HTC come up with a similar solution or a app to assist the

Thank you but I still can't even manage to transfer a v-card. Doesn't bring up a menu or anything when the phones are within range. I'm not sure this will be useful at all then accept for google wallet type of functions.

Make sure both phones have the NFC turned on then pull up the contact or the web page(looks like ICS internet and chrome only work - dolphin wouldnt) then touch the backs of the phones together. It will push the item to the back of the screen and then touch the screen and it will beam it to the other phone. You can do the same with some apps as well and it will push app to the playstore. Cant wait till you can beam photos and files.

There is an app on the market called 'File Expert" that allows you to do it but I think when doing larger files bluetooth is faster. but hey if you wanna play. here is a toy.
I really can't wait to beam photos
Like the NFC aspect (outside of G-Wallet use), I wanted to bring another feature that is likely to be glossed over.
Some of you coming from an Epic Touch, might be familiar with this or people who've used Ad-Hoc.
Edit: (An app to take advantage of this ability (in beta) but it works well.

The same, it's just re-labled. They may have some pre-programmed tasks for it's use. It's present in the Samsung GS2.
Edit:
S-Beam is limited in function as it will only use it's main functions with other SGS3 handsets.

Seems like we need an app to make this work. Ive connected to other devices but I cant send anything due to no app to control the function
Glad I'm not the only one, lol.I can set up a group and connect but can't seem to find anyway to transfer data via WiFi Direct.

Ditto. Has anyone figured this out I want to try it.
This Sucks
This really Sucks to have such a great feature bit no way to use it.... ive spent alot of time trying to figure it out but i couldnt..... i really hope someone figures this out....
My friend and I were messing with this over the weekend, he has an SIII I have the EVO. Turning it on and pairing the devices up works great, but when he would try to send a picture (WiFi Direct gets added to the standard Share menu on the SIII) it would just hang on his end until it timed out. I tried sending a file, but get no WiFi Direct option in the share menu of the EVO.
He also had a place to control some settings, one of them was "File Sharing" and he had to turn that on before we were able to attempt to send files.
Sucks that this doesn't work - it could be really cool especially if my wife and I want to pass photos around to each other that we have taken of the kids.
Makes no sense to add this ability with no way to use it..
I agree. I can pair with my brothers 4G LTE but cant transfer anything between the phones...

Have you downloaded the app and been able to use it? I downloaded it and downloaded it on my co workers EVO LTE, but still can't get it to transmit. The wifi icon does not show up in the share menu like the you tube video shows. Not sure if I'm doing it wrong...

What is it? I tried Voxer and it turned out to be pure crap, I spoke it a pitch quiet room and my recording was nothing but static.
So I figured I'd ask here, what you use, we all know the DSM5 mic is an odd one though. Same can go for the speaker being stupidly place at the bottom near the softkeys instead of above as well. haha

Craig's Walky Talky!
ok, this does not use voip, no servers, no Internet required!
It has 2 modes
1st mode (default on run) it simply uses your wifi modem to relay your voice data, so everyone using the app on the same wifi network can hear each other!
2nd mode "enable ap" this turns your phone into a wifi router, once enabled on 1 device.. on the other android device click wifi and scan for the ap from the first device..
This mode allows you to talk out in the open anywhere anyplace using just 2 or more android devices just like a real walky talky!

try mine thing about mine is... all you need to do is request a feature and i'll add it (if i can )

Is only me having these issues :banghead:

Goggle search bar can be removed by disabling it in Settings/Apps
Also - I use Nova Launcher and now just have a Google Search icon in the dock. Saves room.
I use wallpaper from http://interfacelift.com/wallpaper/downloads/date/widescreen/2560x1600/
I set them with an app called Simple Image Wallpaper from the Play Store.
My cover gets warm as well - but not that big of a deal.Definitely good to not have it on something smothering the back.
I can only see the option to Disable it, how to remove from screen?
Wat about BEAM fearure?

How to use Beam feature for Galaxy Note 2 and Nexus 10 ???
I am not able to beam photos n videos from my GN2, it opens play store !!!

Don't quote me on this, but I don't think you can remove Google Search bar from the homescreen without a custom ROM.
Sbeam only works on Samsung devices that have NFC and the sbeam app. You cannot sbeam to a nexus device since that is not a stock android feature.
Please read up more on the differences between android beam and Sbeam..
Disabling and rebooting will remove it. I did it.

But when m doing NFC (switching OFF S-Beam) my Bluetooth turned ON on both Note 2 and Nexus 10 !!!
Let me try again today..
EDIT: read this..found in XDA from other users
Android Beam is one of the standard features of Android platform and implemented within Android Application Framework.
On the other hand, S-Beam is Samsung's proprietary and that works only between two Galaxy S3s.
When you try to send pictures from the Galaxy S3 to the Nexus 10, Galaxy S3 sends a handover request message for
establishing a Wi-Fi Direct link to the Nexus 10, as in S-Beam manner. However the Nexus 10 doesn't support S-Beam
and that attempt fails.
When you try to send pictures from the Nexus 10 to the Galaxy S3, Nexus 10 sends a handover request message for
establishing a Bluetooth link to the Galaxy S3, as in Android Beam manner. Because Android Beam is a standard
feature of Jelly Bean, Galaxy S3 accepts the request and return a handover select message to the Nexus 10. Then a
Bluetooth OPP link is established between those two devices and the pictures are transferred.
For me, Chrome is the biggest problem. It hangs every time and most of the time Nexus 10 reboots. The UI is not as smooth as Nexus 4. Actually not even close to it. Battery isn't so good either.
Although I'm a hardcore Android fan but I admit that apple products never hang. My wife has iPad 2. Since 1 year it's up and working. Never got hung.

Any thoughts?

Interesting because on stock ROM you can't change anything. Curious are you running a custom ROM or is it stock? I just tried with my 6806 and my Note 3 and had no issues beaming to the Ultra.
Just to check, when you have NFC on, Do you also have Android Beam on as well?

You can't use NFC to transfer files. Its used to activate hardware or features. Its opening the playstore because it doesn't know what you want.
You'll need to tell it to activate android beam when tapping NFC
Don't ask me how to do that, as I've ever used beam.
Perhaps 'sony connect' from the playstore??
or
'NFC easy connect' both are by Sony Corp.

Yeah I downloaded NFC connect, this utility seems to be just for connecting to speakers etc, even with this software on the phone it does the same thing.
Weird.
Oh and I am on the stock ROM. Just upgraded to 4.3 so will see if that makes a difference.
Works from my xzu to HTC one hold them back to back android beam starts up and use ez file explorer to beam files
