Hey Guys,
You may want to know about the performance of the extended battery from mugen 3600mah and from ebay so called 3600mah (white+red+yellow). Here is my observataion and just wanna share with you my feelings:-
I got a GS2 and a EVO3D, purchased one mugen battery and 2 ebay batteries for my GS2; also purchased 2 3600mah battery from ebay. they are from the same China manufacturer and thus the prices are similiar.
Outlook:-
The mugen cover is really awesome, fit and with imprinted figures, however if you use ebay battery, the mugen cover cannot fit in, its tailor made for its battery only!
The ebay cover is also fit to the body, surface smooth. u can use both ebay battery and mugen battery.
Performance:-
Mugen battery can last for 3x hours something with juice defender
Ebay battery can last for nearly 24 hours with juice defender
both are under heavy usage in internet browsing and texting
Price:- Buy 1 mugen can buy at least 8 ebay battery
Charging time:- Mugen battery takes longer to fully charge
i would say the battery from ebay is not fully 3600mah, i think its abt 3000mah, assuming mugen give you the true figures.
For me, I would no doubt to purchase evo 3d battery from ebay, and the finishing of the cover is top fit to evo 3d, make it more durable! and now my evo 3d can last at least 24 hours, for sure sufficient to heavy usage guy. someone said i'm taking a soap out, but for me, it shows much handsome and durable, its worth.
Buy 1 original htc 1730 mah battery can buy 4 3600mah ebay battery, why not?
Up Time is irrelevant really, as we don't know how the phone was used. To give everyone a better idea of the battery's performance, also post Awake Time along with Up Time.
Other important information is what rom/kernal you're using, and if you're overclocking, underclocking, etc...

Mike, you are right, i use stock rom from Taiwan, rooted, no overclock etc, I'm a user, test the 2 batteries under the same circumstances, same numbers of software, same user preference. my view is subjective enough. Trust or not is your call.
A universal way to judging batteries is screen on time..
How much hours was the screen on for each bettery in your tests?
Mugen is a rip. Way too expensive and didn't last as long as China 3500mah with smooth flat cover
I'm pretty sure the Galaxy SIII will have decent battery life and when ROMs and kernels come around it'll be even better. The S3 having a 2100mah battery, do you guys think it's possible for 3rd parties accessories maker to do like a 2500 Mah battery like the note? Or will it be too big and add bulk to the phone with an bigger back cover?
There will definitely be extended batteries, but any that add significantly to the capacity will have their own rear casing and add some bulk. Mugen often make batteries the same size as the originals with a slight edge in capacity, but I doubt they'd get it to 2500mA.
Im sure there will at some point be extended batteries available in much higher capacities with their own back covers. This might actually be beneficial for those worried about getting scratched camera lenses.

Nfc antenna is in the battery so Kepler that in mind when looking for a replacement
Extended batteries on eBay
I found some extended batteries for sale on eBay. All of them seem to ship from China. Some are 2300 and 2500 mAh and appear that they fit using the standard back cover. Other larger batteries come with a new back cover making the phone thicker. The downside of both options is that none of the extended batteries seem to include NFC support. It's a shame that the phone's NFC feature was built into the battery.
Extended Battery and Cover
I think what you are looking for is the power case from droidax. They have a new one that fits the GS3 and has 2300 mAh battery inside. That doubles the battery capacity.

Waiting on the full line from Seidio myself. They said they are working on an extended battery but currently have no ETA. I usually buy the whole suite; Comes with a battery, back cover, 3 layers of casing and a holster. My opinion is that practicality is more important than how thin and light the phone is. My EVO 4g lasted a week with Seidio's extended battery. Hope to get the same with the SGS3.
I see this time and time again, but also I guess this is why there is a market for fake batteries.
Think of a battery as a fuel tank, you want to run the motor for longer? you need a bigger tank. Any battery that claims to have a larger capacity yet maintain the same physical size is either utilising battery technology no one else knows about or its too good to be true.

You can get a 2300mAh battery that gives like 10% extra capacity or a huge 4600mAh battery (2.2 times more capacity). Second one comes with back door because of bulk and adds like 11mm to the phone.
Found this video for the above mentioned battery.
Battery Showdown: OEM Vs Gold Vs Mugen Power 5400mAh
1. Introduction
This thread was originally intended to be a review of the Mugen Power 5400mAh Extended battery for the Galaxy Note. But when I got thinking about it, I knew that the question in everyones mind would be: how does it compare to other
batteries out there? Following on from this, this thread is now going to primarily a Mugen Power review, but also my results from testing them against the two most popular batteries for the note: the OEM Samsung battery and the 3250mAh Gold battery.
1.1 Review: Initial Impressions
Mugen power are a company that sell many types of batteries for a plethora of devices. Their best known, however, for their extended batteries. These extended batteries normally extend out the back of the device so an aftermarket battery
cover is also supplied. In the case of the Galaxy Note (both the N7000 and I717) the extended battery is advertised as being 5400mAh and is supplied with a replacement battery cover/back door with a kickstand for watching movies etc.
When the item arrived it was packaged in a padded brown envelope and within was plastic blister pack that holds the items. Within the blister packaging (that DOESN’T rip your hands apart getting into) is a sheet of paper with some
specs/instructions, the battery cover and the battery itself.
1.2 Review: Hands-On
When you pick up the battery it does not seem overly heavy, but not so light that you think there is nothing in there – this bodes well so far! When inspecting the battery there are no sharp edges, no manufacturing defects and no
problematic areas – it looks like a well made battery. My engineering mind wondered how the item was put together and a light press at the side of the battery gave an insight into how it was manufactured: the battery is actually made of
two “batteries” or cells soldered together to make one unit. Immediately I thought that may pose problems with things like capacity estimates considering the chip would be reading from both cells, but from using the battery it seems very
stable and this is not a problem. (Some users have reported that with aftermarket batteries, their screen flickers when the battery is in the 0-2% range – I didn’t get this with the Mugen battery)
The battery cover is quite an interesting item as in my minds eye I thought it would be thin like the stock Samsung one but with some reinforcement fins for structure. But when you pick up the battery cover the plastic is quite thick and
it feels rather solid in hand. It felt so rigid that I had doubts whether it would bend to clip into the notes back recess points – but it clips in very solidly. It should be mentioned that the top of the battery cover goes in first and
then the rest just pop in, unlike the stock battery cover. Also, the back is textured with little dots, much more prominent than on the stock battery cover, giving you extra grip.
On a side note, the thickness added to the back means that your camera lens cant get scratched.
One feature that I had no expectation of using was the kickstand. This allows the device to sit in landscape mode like a little picture frame. After using the kickstand a few times, I must conclude that it is really a fantastic addition
to the phone! The kickstand is very easy to erect, just push beyond the pivot point and it pops right out ready for you to prop your device up with – it really is very useful!
There are a few issues with the battery door that I would like to mention. Firstly, the kickstand is a great idea, but the material it is made from feels cheap. Also, I would want it to “snap” into place so that it is either hugging the
phone or properly extended – there have been many times where it is just waving there – perhaps a small magnet would hold it in place more securely?
Secondly, the speakerphone doesn’t sound good at all. I appreciate that Mugen cant really do anything to fix this but the speaker is still on the back of the phone and so the sound it puts out echoes inside the battery housing. It isn’t
that bad, but it is noticeable and something I thought I should mention.
1.3 Review: The Bulk
A lot of people are hesitant to try these extended batteries because they think that their lovely slim device will immediately become an ugly, obese device that looks like it came from the 1990’s. Well… that is only partly true. Yes, the
devices thickness does increase quite dramatically but, and this is a big “but”: the device gets much easier to hold! The rounded back and textured surface mean that the phone is transformed from a credit-card to something much more
comfortable to hold to your ear. With the stock battery I have always feared the phone slipping out of my hand, but not with this.
2.0 Testing
The testing portion of the review/showdown will be comparing the estimated mAh reading I got from an app: “Battery Monitor Widget Pro”. The way I did the testing was to reset the battery stats, and use the phone from 100% to 1% by
watching BBC’s Iplayer continuously. Then I would connect the device to the official Samsung charger that came with my device (1000mA output) and charge it up to 100% and then rerun the Iplayer test. Mugen recommend that their battery
should be cycled (100->0->100) a few times to make the battery perform to its rating. With all the batteries, I tested them for several days with continuous cycling so that the app can get accurate readings.
2.1 Results
These are the “estimated” battery statistics from “Battery Monitor Widget Pro”
This shows some interesting data. I am not saying that this app is giving you an absolute measurement of the capacity of the battery. The way I am using the “estimated” capacity is to use it in a comparison. I have assumed that the OEM
Samsung battery is 2500mAh. This may or may not be true but it is safer to assume that the Samsung batteries will be made to a tighter tolerance with higher quality control. With that, what I have done is adjusted the estimates with the
assumption that the OEM battery is 2500mAh and therefore the other batteries have a reduced inaccuracy.
One thing to note is that all the batteries has a similar Max/Min voltage range which is what may cause the screen flickering at low battery to occur. Thankfully the Mugen battery is within the range of the OEM battery which means this shouldn’t occur.
3.0 Conclusion
Throughout this review I have comparing the good with the bad about the Mugen Power 5400mAh battery and now is the time to make my final comparison:
Pros:
- Fantastic battery life!
- Nice rounded back over
- Good grip texture
- Camera indentation to avoid scratches
- Kickstand
- Solid construction
- Reputable warranty
- Easy s-pen removal
Cons:
- Doubles the thickness of the device
- Speakphone quality is compromised
- Plastickly feeling battery cover and kickstand
- Slightly lower capacity than rated (5076mAh vs 5400mAh)
Now the killer question is: after using this battery for a week, is it worth it?
In my honest opinion, I would buy the Mugen Power 5400mAh battery. Yes, it is worth it. I feel that the product is fantastic and would be well suited to someone who does a lot of travelling, a long commute on the train, a lot of phone
calls throughout the day. I would seriously recommend it to anyone who is going to go on holiday/vacation and is going to be using their device for the duration of the flight.
I have given it a lot of thought and I think that for the USD98.95 that they are asking, they could make the product more appealing by upgrading the battery to something that fills the whole housing and making the battery cover more
luxurious – a little brushed aluminium, a few magnets to gold the kickstand in place, etc.
I would rate this product as 4/5. I think it is perfect for anyone who is going to embark on a long journey and needs their device to last a lot longer than the stock battery. If Mugen were to implement some changes to make this better in terms of value for money – I would give it 5/5.

4.0 Mugen suggestion
This section of the review is my personal opinions on what an extended battery should be and has no impact on the current product. This is purely my pie-in-the-sky ideas and put in for completeness alone:
When I was fitting the battery and the battery cover, I was surprised at how much empty space there was within the battery cover that wasn’t filled by the battery. And we already know that the battery is comprised of two sections, one
that fits in the stock battery section and the extra bit that sticks out the back. So… is it not possible to make the secondary battery (the second cell that sits within the battery housing) larger to fit the battery cover better?
It might sound a bit confusing, but I got wondering whether it would be possible for Mugen to make the battery fill the extra space within the housing. We are sacrificing the looks and compactness of our device so why not make the
battery is large as can be?
Being the engineer that I am, I thought id mock something up on Autocad. I did a little measuring and it seemed as though the secondary battery could be elongated by 29mm, 20mm at the top and 9mm at the bottom.
Manufacturing would comprise of two different sized cells, which are then glued and packed together with trace wires soldering the cells together. It would mean that the battery fills up all the available space within the housing. Yes,
it would make it slightly heavier, but at USD98.95 consumers expect an all-singing-all-dancing product.
The results from the quick mockup resulted in a battery that Mugen Power could manufacture which they could rate at 6500mAh. This would fit in the current battery housing with no modification. I must admit that I know NOTHING about the
working of a battery and this is just an idea that I had that I thought I would present with the review.
5.0 Closing thoughts
When reviewing all of these batteries, it seemed to me that you can basically make a battery of any shape and so why not make a battery that was the whole back of the phone? You could even put a plastic/ rubber packing on it for better
grip/protection and make the product really incredible!
The stock battery shape would still go into the device as before with the same contacts, but then beyond that, what is stopping you? The only thing that you must account for is the camera, the s-pen and the speakerphone. So, I mocked
something up in Autocad as a pie-in-the-sky idea that I thought was cool. The thickness of the back part is the same as the stock OEM battery with the device.
Very detailed review and well put together review! Do you have screen shots of time use for the batteries? I'm interested in the gold, since it doesn't require a extended back.

Are battery covers 100% interchangeable with the International note? The pictures posted here are of the Int. Version. I understand the product is advertised for both versions, but i want to make sure it's not a "it's not perfect....but it works" fit (in general terms...not specific to this product.)
Amazing work, amazing write-up. The best battery review i've seen yet.
Edit: P.S. The only thing thats keeping me from jumping through your screen and dancing is the lack of runtime data. Maybe MaH ratings are good for engineers. But runtime data is much easier to interpret. Because from the chart above, it seems that the battery is rated at 200% the capacity of the OEM battery, yet is only provides a certain percentage of that expected capacity. Is this what your chart is explaining? Sorry. It's late.
My first 7 days with Mugen 5400 mAH
Have had my Mugen 5400 mAH extended battery for one full week. Here is what I think and know, I do not have that ugly hump back battery cover, have full form hard plastic cover with NFC antenna and kickstand. Which by the way the kickstand proved it’s worth in first 24 hours of ownership.
It took 26 hours from 100% charge to 10% remaining with screen at 100%, either on wifi or 4G, with pretty much all the back ground stuff enable. I surfed, gamed, watched two complete movies and 3 episodes of Battlestar Galactica (wife was doing her scrap booking "fun" with her girlfriends and I had access to free wireless), checking e-mail, fiddle farting around trying to get it down to 10% faster. Charges to 100% fairly quickly, I plug it into 110 v around 2230'ish and has full charge when I wake up at 0600.
Was it a bit on the high side of cost??? Yes, but don't regret it at all, has been great not looking for an outlet every where I go, not rushing to connect to my charger (actually have not use my charger since I installed extended battery) and having to carry a plug and USB cord with me every time I leave the house.
Highly recommend.

The reason i didnt do runtime data was that there is no standard test - mah is a much more scientific way to work out capacities - i can tell you though that on screen-full-brightness-test it surpassed 6 hours

feel free to ask any questions about the product guys
My 5400 mAh Mugen battery arrived this afternoon. The order was placed on the evening of June 4, so it took a week for it to arrive in Toronto. Pretty good for free shipping from Hong Kong!
I'm just charging it up now, so nothing to report on so far. I will be on the road tomorrow, so I'll try running 4G+GPS+BT with Google Navigation while in the car (about 70 minutes travel time total), and Ethernet while on-site with a client. Screen brightness will be at 100% the whole time. If I can get through an entire day without the battery dying, I'll be very impressed.
I really like the much grippier, textured back. No need for me to take photos of how it looks, since panyan did such a great job. Kudos to Mugen for using packaging that is EASY to open! No knives or scissors or personal injury involved here. Just snap the two halves apart, and out pops the battery and cover!
^im glad your happy
ill be interested to see a screenshot of your battery usage after that epic trip
Great review, but at $100 dollars, the price seems too steep for just a battery... $50 probably would have been more reasonable

at first this was my thought too, but when i thought more about it:
we have all paid a great deal of money for our devices and when theyre out of battery, they are as good as useless... this product keeps our device running much longer and therefore is worth more than "just a battery" - if you see what i mean

$100 is on the expensive end of the spectrum, but it is reasonable considering the capacity, the convenience, the special back cover, the cost of the 2650 mAh battery, and the likely lower sales volume of the 5400 mAh part. If Mugen had been contracted by Samsung to produce a million units per month, they might sell it for $75 each... but then Samsung would retail it for $100 anyway.
You could buy two of the 2650 mAh batteries for $94. For an extra $5, you get just as much capacity, and a bonus kickstand cover with a better grip surface. Two batteries means I have to shut down the phone, pry off the cover, swap the battery, snap the cover back on, and reboot the phone. The convenience of simply having it all in one battery is worth it to me.
^ agreed
just so you know guys - im on its 20th cycle and it is still giving me the same screen on time

MUGEN 2650 mAh, around $45.00 off eBay. But for another $45.00 more, you can have the MUGEN 5400 mAh battery and back cover.
I Have 2 Anker batteries 2700 mah and a charger off of Amazon for $22 dollars and they work great just as good as OEM battery.

Anker 2700mah I found to be a bit better than stock. Probably because my stock battery was put through so much damn charging for 6 months the fresh anker battery seems better
Either way it's only 10 bucks, best deal for sure. :good:

So is Anker. Have used them for many phones and have nothing but the best to say. Mugen may be good but it is way overpriced.
I got a 3500mah battery off eBay for like 25 bucks from E-cell, a quality Japanese company. Its pretty decent, last all day under moderate to heavy use. I recommend, expecially for cost,
Nothing that fits under the stock cover will last any longer than the stock unit. All of those claims of higher ratings are all smoke and mirrors...
If you want something that last longer get the Mugen 5400mah with cover. I've never looked back and I never have to worry about battery life anymore.

Nothing I have found. But I understand where your coming from. I can no longer use it in the Car Dock, I had to use a universal dock.
But unfortunately I have many aftermarket batteries that are the stock size and they all claim to be something they are not. So you have a few options...
1. Use a large battery and deal with the downsides.
2. Live with the smallish battery life.
3. Get a new phone.
I am planning on getting the Note 2 and even though it comes with a larger battery I will probably still buy a larger battery for it if one becomes available as I have realized that having my phones last for 2-3 days has become such a huge asset that it outweighs the downsides. Its actually quite liberating not having to always worry where I'm going to charge my phone. 16 planes rides, 4 hour bus rides, tons of heavy GPS/Map use. I never worry anymore...
I think Samsung (and others) really needs to start making the phones thicker instead of thinner and putting larger batteries in them. I would gladly buy something like a Galaxy Note that is say 50% thicker with a huge battery, vs having to go aftermarket and getting a 100% thicker phone. This obsession with thin phones is for cosmetic reasons and is something I would normally say happens with the Apple crowd as they tend to buy phones for how it makes them look, not necessarily for what the phone does. No offense to any Apple folks, but you know what i'm talking about. If you have a small phone, ok sure thin might be an advantage. But what the heck is the point of making a 5+ inch phone thin as can be?
Excellent points. Thanks!
I have a nice case, but only allows for a standard battery...

No offense to any Apple folks, but you know what i'm talking about. If you have a small phone, ok sure thin might be an advantage. But what the heck is the point of making a 5+ inch phone thin as can be?

I just had the stupidest argument just a few hours earlier about this very thing. My Note is pretty much a computer I carry on my belt. If I could just get rid of the 450 minutes and get, say, 100 minutes and put the balance towards a higher data plan, I'd be better off. I guess it just depends on how you use your phone. Mine is a life line, but not to call anyone. If otterbox made a case to fit a bigger battery, I'd rock it all; my wife gets all shame-faced with me when I use my phone because she says it's like I'm holding a wall up to my face..

I got a 3500mah battery off eBay for like 25 bucks from E-cell, a quality Japanese company. Its pretty decent, last all day under moderate to heavy use. I recommend, expecially for cost,

+1 easy day and a half moderate use. music all day a few txt and calls still 60%+ when i get home. pic if you need. good luck.
Is this the one you guys are referring to?
Can you post screen time with this?
http://www.amazon.com/3500mAh-Capacity-Business-Battery-Samsung/dp/B008CYPL6Y
Delivery time is a whopping 18-26 days, not sure if I should just get this instead:
http://www.amazon.com/Laza-Extended...2484040&sr=1-6&keywords=extended+battery+i717
Your first link is for the international version and wont fit an AT&T note. It also is not 3500mah, those are fake claims, its the same as the stock battery.
Your second link will actually give you more battery capacity. Around 5 hours of screen on time.

6 hrs. screen on for me consistently. It effective doubled my battery life, which makes sense, because it is essentially 2 cells sandwiched. See my comment in the thread about the laza for a bit of a review.

Yeah I have heard about some of those extended batteries being two stock batteries fitted together. Has anybody tried the AceSoft 5600mAh Extended life battery w Hard Back Cover Door?

With the exception of branding, it looks like the laza. 5600mah is doubtful. Seriously, all the extended batteries look to be to stock battery clones sandwiched, and since all the aftermarket batteries are highly unlikely to match OEM capacity per cell, 5ah is the best we can reasonably expect.

I would agree, I have two sets of those from another manufacture and they are not 5600mah, I get about an hour less screen on time compared to my Mugen 5400mah, and those batteries are slightly thinner than the Mugen, so I would put then at 4600mah or so...
Looking for an extended battery that fits in the OEM battery socket, using the original backdoor.
Does anyone know a good quality battery like that?
UPDATE: Ok, after doing my research I went for Mugen's 3350mAh one.
Reasons:
- I'm an electrical engineer and I hardly believe that you can add extra 1000mAh to the same size battery as MPJ claims and sell it for 19$ - that reminds me of my experience with cheap batteries on eBay (They remove the original label from expired batteries, put a fake and sell for cheap money). There is simply no such technology out there. I bet, Texas Instruments would instantly publish such stuff on Gigaom and it would be Breaking news.
- Mugen seems to be a respected brand among tech reviewers. I found reviews about them on Pocketnow, Engadget and Android Community.
No. Not gonna happen.

MPJ has a 4500 mAh factory size battery for 19.99. Original back can be used. After some research, they seem to be a very good battery company. This particular battery has 5 stars with 40+ reviews. Add NFC for 3 bucks.

Any review online about this battery? I rarely trust reviews from websites where stuff is being sold.
I've found some reviews online about MPJ for other sizes, and all seem to be very positive. I may just pick it up and do a quick review.
Edit: Just ordered one. I'll write up a review when I get it.

5% more! No way to even confirm that, there is that much variation between batteries as is.

Too many times these batteries bigger than Samsung put out as OEM are proven to be les than advertised or even die quicker than stock. I'm not optimistic about it but i'm definetly awaiting your review.

Did some research also n it seems great...but i am considering the 8500mah one now.
Any "extended" battery that fits with a stock battery door will only give you a few minutes more of operation if the advertised capacity is true. I would guess it would offer you less than thirty minutes more. Not worth the money. With all the standard extended batteries I've owned, that needed a custom battery door cover, gave 1.5x more run time at the very most. More times than not, two OEM batteries lasted much longer than the extended. Unless you are willing to talk about zerolemon batteries, then I would say it's a waste of money and time. Most ratings of these extended batteries are exaggerated greatly. You're lucky if you get 1.25x more uptime when compared to OEM. The quality of OEM cells are much better than third party batteries. Zerolemon might give you close to 2x more runtime, but they still aren't as much quality and have as much life, over the long run, as an official OEM battery. To get an "extended" battery that fits a stock battery door is a waste of money. The increase of run time is hardly noticeable to make the purchase worth spending the money on.

What you say is true if only I'd get this battery and only use it, however I get it to swap with original because I don't want to alter the design of the phone. So once my original is showing low charge I swap it with the new one, so I don't think it's a waste of money.
Zerolemon is not my choice in the end - I checked them online and was not impressed. Does not look professional. I went for Mugen, because according to the feedback from respected tech sites their quality is very good.
OP you should keep in mind that these batteries are not quality tested like the original one's are, and they might catch fire and hurt you.
There have been several cases of phones catching fire or blowing up, and most of the times the reason is an unauthorized battery.
e.g. http://www.phonearena.com/news/Samsung-Galaxy-S-III-that-injured-18-year-old-girl-exploded-due-to-third-party-battery_id45509
If something like this does happen, Samsung will not help you or fix the phone for you, even if you are under the warranty period.
So always be cautious while using an unauthorized battery.
Just don't see how you can really cram that much add'l capacity into the same size battery for such a cheap price. Where's the trade off?
I'd like anyone who gets one of these to report back after using it for a few weeks to see how they hold up.

Lol. Its the same as every thread created in each phone's specific forum. There aren't any extended batteries the same size as OEM. It is a Pipedream.

what about the one in question? It offers 150mah extra. I know it's not too much, but if using two batteries (OEM + this one) it all comes up to 6550mah if I'm not mistaken, which is good.
Samsung spend millions of dollars on researching batteries. So these batteries can not keep goal.

So why not just spend the money on a samsung battery. No worries. No issues. No checking to see that 150mah you're not going to get. Just get another stock battery. I already have mine with charger. Was $25 after tax on samsung website but after 50% off coupon.

You don't need to buy the charger, You can buy just the battery and swap it when the first one is dead. It's somewhere around 17-20 $ on eBay. I don't think it should be a problem ordering it where you live, or you can have it shipped to any of your friend or relative and tell them to send it to you.
