I am wondering if there is a fix for this, I use GO SMS Pro for texting and it is set to sync contact photos from my address book which is synced with Facebook. The photos don't show on GSP and only contacts saved in my address book show, not the other contacts synced over from Facebook. Is this an app problem or an ICS/Sense 4 issue? It worked on my EVO 4G running Gingerbread.

I believe it's a Sense interop problem. I have the same issue using Handcent with phone set to sync facebook contacts. Only way it works it to set Facebook option to Not Sync for now. Hopefully a fix will come out soon.
Check out this thread for a fix (if you're rooted).

When I had a BlackBerry, I accidently synched my contacts with Facebook and vice-versa. I remember it as having caused one royal F-up on my phone. I had duplicate contacts, their pictures were jacked up (not the ones that I had used), and Facebook ended up with my entire phonebook on their end.
Does anyone Sync their Facebook contacts on Android, and does it result in the same issues? Would there even be any point to it since my contacts are synched with Google?
Any insight into this would be greatly appreciated.
Works great using Facebook for sync. The Facebook for android app won't sync contacts, or at least it didn't work well enough for me when I tried. Lets you link it manually and won't cause a duplicate issue.
I have never had any problems syncing with Facebook for Android or HTC sense.
When Android contacts sync with social networking outlets, they "link". This pretty much means it takes two contacts, the original one and the Facebook one, and puts them together. But not in the sense that they are combined to make one contact, rather, they are paired and appear as one in the contacts app.
In the event that you flash a new ROM, wipe your phone, anything, the link goes away. No messy exchange or consolidation of contacts. Clean and simple.

i found out that the tbolt (maybe sense ) has a feature to link contacts and will do it automagically
Was wondering if there is a way to manually sync contacts to facebook accounts using a rom such as PUR3AO5PTH3ORY?
When I download the Facebook android app the only contacts that I can get to sync are the ones who have their mobile numbers listed on facebook. Was able to sync without a problem when using facebook for HTC sense.
Any help would be appreciated!
So the issue is you're not getting everyone to sync?
You may need to change the sync parameters to "include all" or "sync with existing contacts".

Have tried both options... The only facebook accounts I can get to sync with my phone are people who have their mobile numbers on their facebook profile. Can't seem to be able to manually link the accounts like with the HTC App...
I have a problem with Haxsync, i've merged several contacts to get the HD profile image but after 1-2 days they're unmerged again
Did any of you noticed this?

There's a support link for the app in it's Android Market description.
not all my contacts sync. For example, I have one contact that is in my friends list that will not show up in Haxsync...dont understand...
i have same issue with contacts not appearing in haxsync although they are friends with me on facebook...
I'm having problems with the gmail account I have attached to the HTC Mail app. My regular gmail app ( connected to another account) Works perfectly fine. It has synced before but it seems intermitant and I know I have four messages in my inbox and It will not sync no matter what I try. Just wondering if theres a known issue with the HTC app.

I have had the same issues on stock GB and CleanROM ICS 4.3 - no matter what ROM I use, HTC/Sense mail stops syncing.
I've moved on to K9 mail. Works perfectly.

Why do you have the Gmail set up there? You can add a second Gmail account to the actual Gmail application. That might be more reliable for you.
I'm using an Exchange account with the HTC Mail app and haven't had any syncing issues at all.
You can try clearing the application data in Settings and setting it up again, if you prefer the HTC app.

I believe that setting up GMail in the HTC mail app is part of the set up process. I am not sure you can actually avoid it, although I have never tried. Also, the UI for the mail app is nicer in some respects than the GMail app.
Exchange does work well, but there are definitely issues with webmail and the mail app.
In the past, I tried clearing data for the for gmail on the mail app, and I think HTC mail won't allow it since gmail has to be a primary account.
Having gone through all this is what made me suggest the K-9 mail app. Just turn off notifications for the other gmail mail accounts.

You can definitely skip setting up GMail in the HTC app. Just skip the entire setup and then sign in to the Gmail app directly. But I know what you mean, the HTC app has some aesthetics I enjoy more than the GMail app.
And you should be able to clear the data on that HTC app. It's totally independent of the Gmail app. At least, I've never had an issue with clearing data from it and it didn't affect Gmail in anyway.
Hopefully the OP can chime in on the results.

Yes, it's a known bug. The Android Task killer, kills off the HTC Mail app after a while. It was listed as a fix in the changelog for the January OTA update. It seemed to get a lot better, but its still not perfect.
I also agree, you should just use GMail app for all your GMail accounts. It's push so no random checking.
Also, I believe the Task killer is overly aggressive in general. After my phone has been running for about a day or so, my Facebook widget stops updating. I have to reboot the phone, then it starts updating for a day or so then stops again. Same with my HTC Mail app that checks my personal mail account via POP.
When I go to people and view a specific contact is shows that the contact is synced with Facebook but the contact photo does not appear. I'm sure that contact has a photo because I can see it on my pc. There is no rhyme or reason some contacts have photos and others do not.
I noticed this same issue on my evo lte today when a friend texted me and her picture wouldn't show up. I restarted the phone, cleared the cache, etc. but nothing has worked thus far.
If you're rooted, check here for a solution. App called Photo Unlocker.
Thanks, fachadick... that app works perfectly! Contact photos not showing up like they should was something that really irritated me.
I tried that app before the op but it only unlocked some contacts photos. And I'm not talking about 3rd party app but in people.
Facebook doesn't sync properly with ICS. Try an app called Hax Sync on the market to sync your FB contacts. Then the pictures will show up.

I didn't have any problems with people's pictures showing in contacts. My problem was with Handcent for text messaging. Now my contact's pictures are showing properly in each text message like they should.
