but now i got sk17i with 4.0.4
i want to root and install cwm recovery pls help make some simple methods and direct root method so it is easy , im asking u bcoz no one is perfect than u so im waiting for ur reply
1) nAa doesn't have a 2011 xperia.
2) this belongs in a Q and A secton, not development
3) this is the 2010 mini section.
4) there will already be methods for your device.
5) nAa isn't obliged to do anything, he does it because he wants to.

root / recovery on xperia s with ICS fw 6.1.A.0.452

Hello I am a little confused in the various guidelines and procedures .. wondering some light on:
I state that I have .. xperia s updated to 6.1.A.0.452 ICS ... when I go to download the file server prerooted.img in XDA I see that folder there are two GB of KA PREROOTED while in the ICS folder there nothing .. so I wanted to ask but the guide and for those who have GB installed or can I flash one of them having already KA ICS? .. and if so, what one?
sorry for my bad english
use this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1729280
Are you saying you want root access and recovery on your phone?
If so unlock the bootloader -
http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
Then you can fastboot an auto rooting kernel from the site like advanced stock kernel. Job done (there are guides for this in the stickies at the top of the forum)

First of all post in question and answer forum..
Second if you want to flash a pre rooted image then you have to unlock your bootloader, and you can find the pre rooted ics image in Android dev section..
If you want root and recovery without unlocking then go to the link in my signature..
Enjoy
Use the thank button, it's there for a reason

Please please please search and read! There's my rooting guide and it's pinned in the general section. There you can see how to root your phone and you can ask questions there if anything goes wrong
oh man u don't have to downgrade for GB to root your device
If you''re already in rooted GB , just flash the ICS firmware without wipe the data :good:
Yup, juz install custom rom such as cm9 or realics (r6), im using r6 and all works fine to me, but I suggest u better make a backup 1st

AFAIK .54 FW cant be flashed using Binary method........
the steps are if you are on .54 FW
1) flash .10 kernel
2) root using binary
3) flash .54 kernel

Need help rooting

hi i just recently switched from an xperia x10 mini (mimi) to an XPERIA U ST25a
Android 2.3.7
firmware 6.0.B1.564
kernel 2.6.35.7+
I was palnning to update to android 4.0.4 but i was told not to since it get alot laggy.
can someone link me on how to root this device im not sure if its the same way i did
for my mimi.
and what do you suggest is the best kernel/rom for this device? (stable)
i honestly want to get the most of it. thanks for the help in advance.
I HAVE A PROBLEM WHEN TRYINT TO ROOT IT SAYS IM IN MTP MODE, and i dont know how to disable that seems like its by defautl
Just look in this section for an gbrocks and flash it it stock modified gb rom and work great and its also prerooted.
P.S. wrong section pal, it should be in Q/A section, and in future just use search button on this forum coz its been answerd a lot of times
Sent from my ST25i using xda app-developers app
First of all wrong section, you may put in the Q & A section,
Secondly there is no rating for custom kernels/ROMs, every development is best in its own unique way !
Use search for rooting methods

You may require unlocked boot loader for rooting GB
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Sony_Xperia_U
Look at that page !

THANKS I HAVE SUCCESSFULLY ROOTED AND UNLOCKED MY PHONE
now im trying to install CWM but on that page it shows only CWM for ICS
im running ANDROIDN 2.3.7
i tried it and when i turn off phone i rapidly prass vol down and shows the blue green blue light but then it goes back to sony logo and starts normally
Now as you have unlocked your boot loader you can flash custom kernels, most of them have pre installed CWM.
Check for GB ROMs in the development forum.
Or CM9 ROMs are pretty smooth and simple, you may flash stock ICS (ftf file) and flash a CM9 ROM.
