I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 that has CWM installed and i have it rooted. I need to send it back as it has developed a fault. Before doing that i want to unroot it and remove CWM and delete all my data so the phone will be restored to factory default
I have downloaded the relevant Stock firmware (Three in UK ) is it just a case of Flashing it with the stock firmware via Odin will this remove the root/CWM and all the data ?
Cheers

Yes but doing just that is not sufficient if you are trying to get a replacement. Like three other user pointed out, you will need to reset the flash counter to zero.
Sent from Rooted debloated stock Galaxy S3 OG I9300
1. Reset counter using Triangle away from CF
2. Flash stock firmware
3. Hard reset device to remove all trace of modification and any private data from the device storage. Hard reset wipes the phone completely including the internal sdcard so it's like from the factory. to hard reset dial:

Bascially got my galaxy S2 I9100 a few weeks ago , i am pretty familiar with android and know my way about , so the first thing i did was root stock ROM with Cf Root then the second thing i did was flash the Siyah Kernel via odin then dual booted a few roms such as RR or Paranoid Android. As the Siyah kernel enables dual boot i kept my stock 4.0.3 but replaced the launcher with the touchwhiz ux launcher found on the galaxy s3. Since i have flashed various roms and also removed them ect. I have been seeing on XDA that alot of people sent their galaxy s2 to warranty and it didnt get fixed as the "download counter" showed that custom software had been obtained and flashed within the device & that one way to fix it was by downloading well known developer chainfires "Triangle Away" apk in order to remove the triangle at boot as well as reseting the download counter to 0. i am just confused as this is what i done get.
-Say i send my device for warranty and i have restored stock ics GS2 rom kernel and so on will they be able to tell without me using chainfires
"triangle away app?"
-If somehow i encounter a "softbrick" or "hardbrick" could i just buy a usb jig enter download mode, plug it in, restore counter to 0 then flash stock ics & kernel for GS2 via odin & get it fixed free by warranty?
thank alot

u could just root ur phone, install triangle away, run it, and all set.
uninstall any app that indicates that ur phone is rooted and there. also u could flash an unrooted kernel too.
when i had to live my phone at service i did this:
-used triangle away
-factory resets
-wipe dalvik and cache
-flashed via ODIN stock ICS rom
-give it to service!

He simple said:
When you are on a custom rom or rooted rom, use triangle away to reset the counter.
Then do a factory reset and wipe cache/dalvik cache by using custom recovery mode. (you are still rooted)
Then flash an official stock kernel via odin (it will not increase the counter)
The counter will say no and binary official and you have unrooted new firmware
with no way to know you messed around with it. Warranty reclaimed!!

Hello, everyone.
I have recently installed CF-Root and a custom ROM on my brand new Samsung Galaxy S3 i9300, but I wish to completely restore its disk, every partition, to factory default.
Should I just download the original ROM from SamMobile and flash it using download mode? Or should I use TriangleAway or something? I don't care about the counter now, I may use TriangleAway if I ever need to send my phone to service, but not now. I'm here for fun.
I appreciate your attention.
Best regards,
Filipe.

SEARCH would have answered this question asked thousands of times .
Factory default requires Triangle Away format sd card format system format cache format data = nothing on the phone all traces wiped and flash original rom via Odin.
Stock rom without setting phone back to default flash any stock rom .

I've found the answer before but it didn't mention the "Recovery" (CWM) which I want to remove to.
But now everything is clear. Thank you very much, JJEgan! Sorry for the inconvenience.

hi i got a 16GB I9300 rooted with CF-Auto Root.
How can i unroot it completely so that kies updates work again?
i got the stock rom i want.
i think if i flash it over the rooted rom, the cfroot files wont be deleted and so the status will still be modified nd kies wont work, what are the correct steps so is factory state?

Reset the flash counter with Triangle Away, flash the stock rom with Odin and perform a data/factory reset after reboot in settings/backup and restore. Now you can update with Kies/OTA and status will say NORMAL.

Thanks! :good: im getting rid of my 16GB S3 before it fails with the SDS issue and getting a 32GB one
Mine is like 3 months used and no problems but i wont take a chance on it failing
I rooted my galaxys3 GT-I9300 recently and flashed with cm10.1 nightly and then with sotmax v14 ROM and it was working perfectly for three days.. I have administered a hard case for my galaxy s3 which covers it fully. Two days back my galaxy s3 fell from a chair and suddenly it restared. After that it fails to boot beyond the galaxy s3 logo. I felt it could not have possibily encountered any hardware problem because of my case. But lucky me i could access cwm recovery and odin mode and hence flashed it again with cm 10.1 and sotmax v14 with cwm recovery but in vain...it doesnt boot beyond the galaxy s3 logo. Again I flashed with stock gs3 rom(correct version ) via odin and followed all the steps like wipe chache.....factory reset etc etc. But Same results as before it is stuck at the logo. Even the blue led doesnt get lit but when I put it to charge it is getting charged with a red led light...I tried all possible methods as far as I knew them. I have very little knowledge about flashing. Now i do not know what to do. I voided the warranty. In odin mode it shows
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOADS: YES (1 COUNTS)
CURRENT BINARY: SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
SYSTEM STATUS: CUSTOM
I cannot use the triangle away app so that I could reset the counter as I cannot even get inside the phone. All I can access is recovery mode and odin mode. After I flashed it with a stock rom the cwm recovery got restored with the original recovery. With recovery or odin can I reset the counter and unroot and modify the system status to official so that I can get the galaxy s3 freely serviced by samsung? Or is there any other way to make my phone work? Please help me....I feel iam stuck from all sides and desperate. Have I bricked my phone and made it a 500 $ paper weight?...s3 is so light that it cannot be used even as a paper weight. Help me guys. Thanks a lot in advance.

Inside thought you meant inside .
CWM recovery mounts and storage format data system sd card ,,

How long has it been stuck? I sometimes after flashing back to stock had to wait about 20 minutes.
Also try to format everything in internal memory manually.
factory reset from recovery

Hello Devs
This is a quiestion Type thread to share ideas and solutions to Unroot Galaxy S2 Plus I9105/P.
I have tried odin to flash stock firmware for unrooting but odin failed to do so.
Errors When i select PDA(.md5) File downloaded from samsung-updates.com>>Incorrect Parameters
When I Select .tar file by removing md5 extension.>>Odin communicator has stopped working.
Note that i used triangle away to reset bin counter but after that using above method I am unable to restore to factory version.
Thanx
Have you tried to unroot in superuser app? Go to settings and press unroot
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S II Plus I9105P
ROM: Babba ROM
unrooted but stock recovery cant appear
i want to remove cwm and put stock recovery.
Ok. Then I don't know what to do. Maybe there is some same kind of topics for other devices.
Unrooting is easy.
The link below is a unrooting file, just flash it in recovery via CWM recovery. Then it will automatically uninstall busybox and superuser. If it doesn't work or are there any questions you want to ask, feel free to leave a question or PM me.

I don't think your warranty will come back since you have already rooted it and the warranty is gone already. But either way, congratulations on your success.
Derp.
You can just download the stock firmware and flash it via Odin...
