in your phone using estrong xplorer (enable root access) go to system folder>app find out camera apk and delete it.
copy the zip file to sd card
reboot the phone in recovery and flash the zip file.

Don't forget to copy the xml file from the etc folder and copy it to your system/etc folder as well. It adds a few tweaks as well.

When I try to flash the stockclock.zip file using the new CWM it says that Amend scripting is no longer supported. Does anybody know how I would could get this installed?
Open the zip file usin astro file manager. Copy the clock.apk (might be named deskclock.apk) then place it in your sdcard where you know Where its located. Use root explorer to copy it to the system/app directory. Rename your old clock.apk to something like clock.bak in case you ever need to go back to it.

Thanks. Did that. And it was called "ClockPackage.apk" in case anybody was wondering.
For example, I want to extract, say, movie studio and convert it to an apk that I can use in another rom. Does ne1 know how to do this?

if you want to extract the apk file from your tab, then you need to be rooted. if so then you can copy files from /system/app/ folder to sd card using File Manager HD or any other file manager which has root access.

^ This. If the apk is dependent on a framework, be sure to include it in a ROM that has the framework it needs.
I've installed the CyanogenMod 7.2 RC1 by vo-1 MIRACLE Edition V4 ROM
but I'm unable to install any additional system apps (e.g. sms/mms, camera).
The thread says, I have to use CWM. But when using the CWM App to install any APK, after confirming, I only get, that the APK wasn't installed.
I also used a few apk installers and tried to install with a root filebrowser. Doesn't work either.
The allowing-non-market-apps option is enabled.
What do I have to do? Clearing any caches with CWM?
Found it!
TUTORIAL 5: Recover System Apps than have been removed from V3
-- Place your desired app or apps on your sd-card
-- Use Root Explorer and copy them
-- Go to system\app and press the Mount R/W button on right top
-- Paste the app or apps you have selected
-- Long press what have you just pasted and set permissions to rw-r--r-- for each app
-- Reboot phone

I would make it simple for u..
1) Simply flash the ROM as said in the thread from where u downloaded
2) Download those additional zip files he attached (system apps) at the bottom of his post
3) Download & install ES file explorer on ur phone (in its settings customize it to allow it to make changes to root directory and enable up-to-root directory etc. and grant it superuser access when it asks)
4) Now extract whatever system app u require from that zip file (say mms.apk) on ur SD card
5) Now go to /system/app and paste this file over there
I recommended u for ES file explorer so that u wont have to change any permission at all..just copy & paste
NOTE: First move the original file u will be replacing in /system/app to some other place to avoid any future problem

Hit THANKS if i helped

Am i able to flash the google now file from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1747224
With the stock recovery tool and without root rights?
Sry, i know this is a noob question, but i realy tried to find it out my self. :angel:
As nobody else has responded to this I thought I'd try to help. It says in the post you linked to that it requires an AOSP based ROM which we don't have for the Tablet S.
I've got Google Now on my tab using the apk but you won't be able to do it without root.
you can not flash other rom before someone crack the recory mode
for the google now,it is only a apk,so you can copy it by root explorer
------------------------------
These are the current instructions and download:
1.) Rename GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk in system/app to GoogleQuickSearchBox.bak
2.) Rename the "signed_velvet-voicereco.apk" that you downloaded (link below) to: "GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk"
3.) Place the renamed .apk in the system/app folder and set the permissions to rw-r-r
4.) Reboot and enjoy!
OR
1.) Rename GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk in system/app to GoogleQuickSearchBox.bak
2.) Try to install the downloaded .apk off your sd just like any other .apk
post back if you successd.

Its quite simple. Download a superuser.zip file that is for your device. Extract it. You will find two folders, System and Meta-Inf. Open System folder and you will find a folder called app inside it. Open it and delete the superuser.apk file and copy your modded system file into it.
For eg., Let the file be Gallery2.apk .
Now open META-INF folder -> com -> google -> android. You will find a file called updater-Script. You have to edit that file. There will be a line, where the system mount command is given. Do not do anything until that line. Delete the lines below it and enter these lines.
delete("/system/app/Gallery2.apk");
# [here Gallery2 is the name of the apk file you copied]
package_extract_dir("system","/system");
ui_print("Installation complete!");
Now rezip the folders together and you have your own flashable zip to install modded system files.
Hit thanks if this helped! :laugh:
