Hi!
I just got my first Galaxy phone after having 4 HTC android phones I must say this thing is amazingly fast!
I have one question though, I do kind of miss some of the HTC widgets. Like the weather widget and the little calendar widget they have that only takes up 1 line on the Home screen. Is there any way to get the HTC widgets onto the Galaxy S III?
I liked these too on my HTC Sensation, unfortunately I couldn't find anything decent yet.
I have a thread in apps and themes subforum and there were some links to ported HTC widgets, but I didn't like any yet
Search play for
Android pro widgets & beautiful widgets.
They are a good start to replacing your HTC widgets
HTC widgets cant be ripped to other android devices because HTC link the widgets to only with with the sence skin.
There are coppys on the Play store. Just not as good
thanks for the replies... I have beautiful widgets and they are so so ;/
Kinda sucks that no one has made replacements...
Edit: for those interested, I found the Simple Calendar widget to be REALLY nice. Replaces the HTC one any day
There is a sense 4.0 clock apk some where in sgs3 apps and theme. Go find it there.

Hi - Am running an Android rom and would rather use HTC Sense as my launcher. However I like to squeeze and extra row in on my display but seem to be only be able to do that using ADW or Launcher Pro. Does anyone know if I can add a row on HTC Sense.
OR if not and I have to use Launcher Pro, does anyone know how I can keep the HTC mail and calendar widget as they disappear as soon as I switch launchers.
If I was to be able to chose, the second scenario would be better!
Thanks.
Have I posted this question in the wrong section? I thought this was an easy question for an android guru

Home Replacement apps basically throw HTC widgets out the window, which sucks but i found an app to fix this Beautiful Widgets is one way, it is basically a HTC widget replacement but I also just found a post on this site about widgets too that was extremely helpful in getting the widgets I wanted to replace HTC, here it is.

Hope you guys find it as useful as me.
Ok I'm tired of the sense 3.0 original look so I'm getting a launcher! I love the sense Widgets tho, WHICH LAUNCHER ALLOWS USE OF ORIGINAL SENSE WIDGETS? I watched a video of adw & it looked like the guy was using original widgets! His sense clock even scrolled like its supposed to

As a devleoper, I can share a developer's spin on the issue.
As far as I've seen and heard, Sense widgets rely on specific HTC framework files which are all closed sourced and essentially owned by HTC, not to be used by 3rd parties w/o permission from HTC.
With that aside, there is nothing stopping others from duplicating the look/feel/functionality of sense widgets and putting them in the Market. Haven't heard anything of HTC seeking legal recourse from "look a like" widgets, etc.
If you saw something you liked, which seemed to offer everything you were looking for from a Sense widget, I would suggest going after that alternative, until HTC releases their code for public use.
I personally wouldn't count on HTC releasing their Sense launcher/framework/widget code for public use anytime soon.
Hope that helps clarify!

Thanks so much for the reply! Do you think fancy Widgets is the best alternative then?

For the clock I think beautiful Widgets or HD Widgets are the best. I use launcher pro plus with launcher pro glass sense skin for the bookmark, friendstream and calendar Widgets and they're almost exact.
I just started using Pro Launcher Plus a few days ago. I was a bit reluctant to because I really like the Sense Widgets. But I found the same Sense widgets for Pro Launcher plus and with a few other modifications like mclock, minimalist text and simple text, I've been able to customize a pretty cool "sense like" theme that' even cooler than the original Sense 3.0 that I was running.
Does it have the scrolling sense clock!? I mean, I have used it on evo 3d but seriously bro LPP needs an update bad

Hi I'm comming from an HTC Inspire 4g running HTC sense 3.5 didn't think I'd miss it as much as I do I really miss the widgets like the Message widget and the mail widget I can't seem to find anything like them on the market can anyone suggest somthing?
Wow
Anybody got anything?
As far as I know, the only Sense type widgets you get on the market are clocks. You cannot run the actual sense widgets without sense. Pretty much bad news if you're looking for the message and mail widgets, you have to get an HTC phone.
I would suggest looking for alternatives and forging a new love for something different or even better.
Yeah I see nothing like them on the android market except clocks and weather widgets I don't understand why someone hasn't copied the message widget or email widget I loved having them on my home screens quick and easy to get to

Theres Themes bro, and there is a sense one. Just saying
Beautiful Widgets, APW (already mentioned), the Go family of widgets (GoSMS for example), Widgetsoid. Just do a search in the Market. Most are free or free trial.
Hi All,
I recently upgraded to sense 5 on my trusty HTC One X+ and yep I hate it with a passion, I miss a lot of widgets, the small weather clock, the photogrid, the radio and music widgets... the list goes on I hate blinkfeed its spammed my Twiiter account and I cant stand the new icons and font...
Anyhoo, I have an old One X+ that I haven't updated and am wondering if I can just grab them off that phone, sense 4 and put hem in a folder somewhere in the new sense 5?
Any ideas?

So I see by the stunned silence it's not possible and I have no concept of how the android is works?
I've got today left to pull anything from sense 4 as tomorrow I'm selling it.
So it looks like I'm stuck with a monochrome dull weather clock widget.
I found a load of files in a system folder that look like they relate to the clock, can I not just copy them over?
The widgets are in /system/app/. But the ones from sense 4 won't work on sense 5. At the very least they would need porting to be compatible with the new framework.
