Hi there,
- Have you tried to get to the Download mode ?
- Have you a JIG ?
- If so, just use ODIN to flash a proper stock ROM.

Yes, pick the laest official ROM from here for ODIN flash : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487

Why did you use a method from outside of XDA? When you posted here, I responded with google searches that would have only returned results from XDA. The first result for the root search (for me, anyway) should have been the root method for ICS that didn't involve flashing anything with Odin.

Upgrading to Latest Official Firmware?

Hey guys!
I just bought a used Galaxy S2 I9100 and I love it!
It's the "factory international" unlocked one.
Even had to buy a wall adaptor for the European plug to work in Canada.
I would like to update it and trust me, I do search, but it's ever confusing!
The previous owner already rooted it, but I would just like to unroot it and go to official latest firmware. Starting fresh.
I visited this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 and I know I have to get my downloads from there and flash with odin, but I have NO IDEA which one to download.
Here's my phone info currently:
Android Version: 2.3.3
Baseband Version: I9100XWKE1
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKDD-CL161513
[email protected] #2
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.XWKE7
I live in Canada and I'm using Rogers as my carrier (they don't carry the I9100).
I absolute love this phone so far but I would just like to get to the latest firmware.
Can anybody point me to the firmware I want to get?
Thanks folks, and have a happy holiday!

I'd look for the baseband version associated with bell since they do sell the i9100. They use the same baseband frequencies as Rogers.
kernels are interchangeable. Always backup your current ROM before upgrading for sure just in case. I've even gone as far as trying different modem firmware to try and improve signal strength and data speeds.
As long as you have a backup of what currently works you can't go wrong really
oops...didn't read the part about unrooting. I've never gone back to un root before but I think you can flash an unrooted kernel through Odin. Sorry I can't be of more help add to which one.
I'd still look for stock Bell firmware

Android Version: 2.3.6

Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKK2-CL726411
[email protected] #2
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.XWKK2
So far everything seems okay.
I noticed that the Voice Talk app crashes now after I say a command.
I also got rid of that yellow half screen problem!
I think my phone is unrooted now because I didn't see a yellow triangle at boot, but the thing that's weird is I still have the superusr app and in my Kernel version it says "root".
Do you recommend me reflash my phone to Bell firmware?
If I do so, wouldn't I get all the Bell branded bloatware stuff on my phone or no?

Update to/from what?
Not sure, My phone needs to update, Like its software Update I can update some then when it gets to a firmware update it fails to install
It should point out which firmware version you need to update, right?
If so, you can just immediately flash the stock rom of the version you want. It will remove root and update to your latest version as well.
You can find a list of firmwares from Intratech's thread. I wish I can link it to you, but it doesn't allow me.
It doesn't, Just tells me firmware update required..
Then downloads the update reboots and tells me it failed o.e

You either flash the original firmware that came with the phone if you have not saved a copy nor made a note of the original then just flash any stock rom for your location .
KF3 is the rom in your original post .

The important part of you kernel is KF3, so fing a stock kernel ending with the same
Can he use Odin, or is that only with older samsung models?

It's probably because you have a custom kernel/recovery and as such it won't flash. As others suggested flash the correct stock ROM/Kernel and you'll either be fully updated or now able to update via OTA depending on your choice.

Yes you can use odin to flash stock kernel
I must be a real pain in the ass, But those links i need don't wanna work for me -____- they just dont load.
Try Sammobile (search for the firmware you need on that site).

[Q] No firmware update possible - I9100 - GINGERBREAD.XWKF3

Hi there! I hope someone can enlighten me. I've never been able to update my SII since I got it, now it's almost a year ago in Belgium (so I'm stuck with GB 2.3.3). KIES says I've got the latest firmware version, and I get the same thing via FOTA.
Now it seems as if ICS provides some battery saving, among some other features, so I'd like to update the firmware (at least for once!)
I would like to avoid rooting, flashing and so on... although it seems as that's the most practical way to follow
So, thanks a lot in advance to anyone who could help me

OK, I've tried that and odin is not recognizing my phone... The firmware is there, I'm in download mode. I've switched usb ports... This is a bloody nightmare!
Last week I told a friend of ñine to try to update hers and she did it straight away through FOTA... and she had bought it only 6 months after me! What a bunch of wankers these Koreans!
friend of mine had the same problem with his s2, i found out his problem was caused by his phone being locked to a provider and because of this he had different kernel from me. he got update several months after me...
this because of provider's own extra apps on the phone...!
Just flash via Odin

[Q] rooting my Indonesa's SGS2 GT-I9100, humbly request for help

hi there
i am so new at this and really need help from you guys.
i have read several thread about how to root your phone and already stuffed with some general ideas of what is rooting, and some terms like rom and kernel. but yet still confused about how to really start the rooting itself.
much of the threads i visit are sort of (as far as i understand) specified for Samsung Galaxy S II GT - I9100 with Ginger Bread 2.3.2 as the firmware. i already updated mine into ics 4.0.3 with specifics below:
baseband version: I9100DXLP7
kernel version: 3.0.15-I9100DXLP7-CL233393 [email protected] #3
build number: IML74K.DXLP7
PDA/PHONE: I9100DXLP7 and CSC: I9100LBLP7
much of the explanation i read, srated with downloading the Odin (attached file), and that's pretty much after where i lost
so please, can anybody help me about this?
thanks in advance, and best regards

Hi...
Go to ChainFire thread and look for (CF-Root DXLP7) kernel and flash that via Odin.
Second is download ChainFire TriangleAway app to remove the triangle warning on boot.
Thats it you are rooted

yes, i found CF-Root-SGS2_DX_XTC_LP7-v5.4-CWM5.zip, unzipped and rooted the tar in it, and according to ChainFire instruction, i think this one is the right one for my kernel.
although i can't flash kernel as instructed by him:
Instructions - If you already have CF-Root
- Copy the zip file to your SD card
- Stop sharing SD card with computer over USB, unplug the cable, etc
- Applications -> CWM -> Flash kernel. Select the ZIP file on your SD card.
- Done
opened the CWM, but no options available and basically the application is running but nothing really happen
what should i do? thanks
ps. i can't ask ChainFire directly on his thread as i haven't posted stuff more than 10 posts yet

im just wanting stock as im gonna sell it.
Just go to the Odin thread, read that and get the program. Then go to sammobile, join then fill in the 4 boxes to get the suitable firmware meant for your phone.
Have a look at a guide about say updating from GB to JB,so you know when to factory reset/script clean to avoid any conflicts, and remove sensitive data.....since your selling it.

Everything should be there, just download the latest one. Do make sure to do a factory reset in stock recovery after you have flashed the Jelly Bean ROM via Odin :good:
