[Q] Blank screen after choosing to upgrade. - Streak 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there, good night.
I'm having a problem with my Streak that I cannot seem to be able to fix.
I've followed the instructions in XDA wiki to flash the Streak with a stock ROM, downloaded FastBoot files and placed them all together in a folder, put my Streak into fastboot and flash the recovery image, all ok so far, then the screen goes blank and I press vol up and down keys to bring the menu where I can install the update.pkg, and here is where the problem comes up.
After I choose option 2 to "Software upgrade via Update.pkg on SD Card" the screen goes blank and nothing happens, screen's background is lit up but it doesn't get to the point with the blue font giving you the option to press the camera button to upgrade from the update.pkg.
I'm trying to use package 407 from the ROMs wiki here in XDA, I've formatted the SD card on FAT32 and placed in it just the 407 update package, and used the recovery image from 407 as well.
I've tried with a couple more like 405 and also 360, but nothing works, all do the same.
Is there anything I can do? is my Streak's internal disk dead? I can get into fastboot and run some diagnostics, but it seems the Streak cannot read from the SD Card? or cannot apply the recovery image properly? I've tried with 3 different working SD cards, but same result.
Any help will be great, I'm afraid my Streak is bricked...

hmm... that is weird because i never had that kind of problem... are you positively sure you are not missing any steps? usually things happen when you miss even 1 step...
when you choose to upgrade, you are upgrading from what? you should provide more details bout it so that people can know which step you might miss...

I'm assuming you have flashed the recovery again to make sure that went well, correct?
Just for the sake of trying something you could flash Streakmod and boot into it just to get something working. Also from Streakmod you can format the SD (the external one) and then place a fresh copy of your update.pkg on it by mounting the external SD also from Streakmod
If you can boot into Streakmod then go back and flash the factory recovery.img again

[Q] Flashing Recovery

I've spent my entire day trying to flash a recovery image on my streak to no avail. I've rooted it using the super one click, have superuser on my device, along with clockworkmod.
I've confirmed my device is rooted using z4root.
I've tried flashing the recovery via clockwork, it says it was successful, yet when I reboot to recovery, I always end up in the regular OS, like all it did was reboot. Furthermore, trying to manually get there, holding down the buttons, tells me that the stanard recovery wasn't actually overwritten. When I go through fastboot and flash it that way, both computer and streak tell me that everything was successful. Yet, the recovery was still not overwritten.
My end goal is to put Steve's ROM on the streak, but I can't even get the recovery overwritten with clockworkmod.
I have a Dell Streak OEM:340. Thats the locked ATT version, which I think might be a part of the problem.
How do I end up with Steve's rom?
Sounds like you are using ROM manager? That does not work well with the Streak. See this article. ROM manager may actually flash your recovery, but does not work to start the phone in that mode.
You can flash the recovery image to your phone in fastboot mode. Here is a tool to help.
You get to fastboot mode by starting the Streak while holding the camera and power buttons at the same time. Then select fastboot from the top right of the screen and plug your phone into your computer. You will need the Dell drivers for this.
Also be aware that you need to rename install-recovery-sh to something else to prevent the stock recovery from being installed when the phone restarts. It's in the folder /etc. You have to use root explorer or an alternate method to do this, but it requires root.
I am using a ROM manger, but if that doesn't work as well, I'll stop.
I've been fastbooting it the majority of the time, flashing the ROM, but it says I've done it correctly, even though I obviously haven't. So far, all I know is that it's been rooted, and the recovery flashed via fastboot.

Have you renamed the install-recovery.sh file so that the custom recovery won't be replaced by the stock recovery when you reboot? If not - do so.
Make sure that the Streakdroid rom you want is in the root of the SD Card along with the install.txt file.
If you can get into fastboot mode and connect to your computer I suggest using MultiRecoveryFlasher Streakmod recovery. You can reboot the phone from there also.
When you reboot you want to get to recovery mode. Turn your phone off then press the power button tile the leds light up and as soon as they do hold down BOTH volume buttons. See this gallery for what Streammod recovery should look like. Selecting the #2 option will take you to the streakmod recovery options. You use the "apply sdcard:update.zip" to install the ROM.
See the release thread for the ROM you are installing for more info and post any problems or questions you have with the ROM in that thread.
I have not renamed the install-recovery.sh file. in fact, haven't seen one through the process. To be honest, I'm not sure this part has been done at all by me. How do I go about doing that?
Furthermore, choosing the second option in recovery doesn't give methe streakmod options, it just tells me everything will be erased (stock Dell recovery). How do I make sure that this gets corrected?
For the record, marvin02, thank you thus far for the amount of help you've been giving me.

The file install-recovery.sh is a script that runs each time your phone is started. It will replace a custom recovery (streakmod) with the stock recovery when your phone starts, so the next time you enter recovery mode you are back at the stock recovery.
If you are going to dstay with a stock ROM, but want a custom recovery you have to rename the file. The easiest way (IMO) is to use Root Explorer which is an app you have to buy. You just open root explorer and the open the folder named etc and find install-recovery.sh long pres on it to get a menu to pop up and then select rename.
You don't have to do that to get a streakdroid rom installed if you enter recovery without letting the phone restart first.
Put the streakdroid rom file and the install.tx on the root of your SD card
Turn your phone off
Turn phone on in fastboot mode (camera and power buttons at the same time)
Use this tool to to flash the recovery you want
Using the same tool you can reboot the phone
As the phone reboots (wait for the leds to turn on just like they do when you restart the phone) hold down BOTH volume buttons to enter recovery. If you let the phone boot normally and you have not renamed install-recovery.sh the custom recovery will be over written.
Select option 2 and you should be taken to the streakmod options (images here)
Select apply sdcard:update.zip from the recovery menu
There will be two options on the next screen, select the one that lets you navigate to/select a file and then select the ROM file you put on your SD Card.
The ROM should install, be patient when it reboots it can take a few minutes.

[Q] [Solved!] HELP!! How to unbrick my tablet? - fix inside

I am one of the lucky ones who got their tablet from woot/amazon for $280.
I got it in yesterday and absolutely hated the Tap Tap interface.
Naturally, I wanted to install a new ROM. I could only get the TnT Lite to install, but still not what I wanted. I tried Vegan and G-Harmony and I got the dreaded 3 bird screen. I downloaded and successfully installed 3588 and rebooted it. I noticed the ClockworkMod is no longer on there, which is no problem.
I followed the directions to install Clockwork and ROMS from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245
I, for some reason, decided to install Vegan again w/o clockwork installed.
I mounted the internal memory card, copied he ROM over as update.zip with the Recovery folder and the command file set to install from SDCARD. A reboot later and now I am stuck at the 3 birds...
I was able to do the Power +Vol and get the "Recovery key detected" message and it seems to load something, hitting the home button gives me the verbose which indicated that it was trying to install something off SDCARD2.
I have tried 3588, clockworkmod and Vegan as update zip on the external SD card with the Recovery folder command file pointing to SDCARD2.
When booting into Recovery, the verbose says: "FORMATTING MISC... REBOOTING..." takes about 4 seconds to complete, reboots and back to the 3 birds screen.
So, how do I [email protected]#$ myself here?
UPDATE!
I got my tablet to boot into CWM!! I ended up putting the MicroSD version of CWM and held down the Power +Vol longer that normal, saw the Android text and it installed the update.zip.
I tried in vain to boot into CWM, but it would re-install the update.zip. *Head smack* took out the SD card and now it boots into CWM!
Now, to try to install a ROM w/o those damn 3 bird screen...
Bootlogo not part of a ROM
You can replace the birds logo, but it is not part of a ROM. Search for replace boot logo, but make sure you know the correct partition to push your custom logo too. Read the entire thread when you find it first. There are tools out there that will let you back up your partitions, I highly recommend doing that first. Search for backup bct and look for PooR's thread and tools.

The boot logo is not my issue, it's just that it does not go past it no matter what non-TnT ROM I try to install.
I just want to install anything other than the factory OS or a modified factory OS (no disrespect to the dev who made TnT Lite).
I started another thread on my troubles getting a new ROM on there:

[Q] Streak rolling backto stock

Hi,
recently i bought a retail dell streak.
it came with android 2.2.2 (stock).
i want to try streakdriod2.0, so i installed it.
i'm not satisfied with the performance, so i want to revert it back to stock(android 2.2.2).
I'm able to flash the dell recovery(351), then i'm downloaded 351 retail rom, from dell website.
After flashing the 351 ROM, it struck at dell boot logo, believe me i waited whole night in that screen.
Then i removed and reinserted the battery, then it shows a message like 'emergency recovery copy' then it will get restarted .
After that it will automatically takes me to the recovery. But the it will shows the recovery version as 347 ( i think it is reverting back to original (stock) recovery).Using the 347 recovery i flashed 351 rom, but the same things are happening again.
i've tried with all recoverys and roms, in xda form. none of them are working.
i've searched for 347 rom(which is the one i'm assuming as stock for me), but i'm not able to find any link for that.
Now i'm installed streakdriod 1.9 .
Is there any way for me to go back to stock os(android 2.2.2 ).
Sorry for my english.
Pls help me to get out of this problem.
This is an update to the post , as im describing the steps ive followed.
My device came with 347 (android 2.2.2) stock rom.(im not sure about this).
Currently i'm running streakDriod 1.9 ROM and StreakMod Recovery.
I'm trying to get back to stock ROM. These are the steps i followed.
1)Entered into fast boot, flashed amss.bin, DSP1.bin, and recovery for 351 official rom. And rebooted the phone.
2)When it reboots by pressing volume up and down at the same time, entered into recovery screen.
3)In recovery screen selected 'install update from SD Card'. It took me into the next screen.
4)Here it asked me to confirm the installation by pressing the camera shutter button. One more thing here is , i can see my recovery version as 351, which is good. Bcz installed 351 recovery via fastboot.
5)It will find the update package(351 official rom ) in SDcard and installs it successfully and reboots. Until now everything is working good as expected.
6)After reboot it will get struck at Dell Logo.
7)I removed the battery and reinserted. Once i turn on the phone, it will show a message 'Emergency recovery copy' and reboots. To stop this happening i tried to enter fast boot and recovery none them wont work.
8)After reboot it will directly takes me to the recovery second screen, where we need to press camera shutter button to confirm installation of update.zip like step 4.
Here i can see recover version as 347.That means device recovery got reverted back to stock 347.
9)if i install update(351 ROM) again here, it will install , reboots ,will struck at dell logo, we need to remove the battery, after inserting the battery it will show' emergency recovery copy' and reboots. Again i will come to the step 4.
It is like a cycle.
10)i tried with all versions of recovery copies and roms, which are shown in multirecovery thread.
11)I'm not able to find stock 347 rom, so i didn't tried with 347 ROM.
I think now i'm clear enough , so that everyone can understand my problem.
So what should i do. Help me.
my procedure is exactly like in this video, but the change is my device wont boot up, after installation.

Hi Mate,
Seems like you are stuck here. But don't worry the situation is not so bad it can be taken care of!!
I assume you already have the PKG of the 351 ROM which you tried installing.
Download the corresponding amss.mbn, DSP1.mbn and stock recovery.img
Once the download is done
Head to fastboot
Copy update.pkg to the root of SD (Make sure that the downloaded file is not corrupt it can also cause this issue)
Open Command Prompt with elevated permission
Set your phone into fastboot mode (Camera + Power Button) Tap on Fast Boot
Plug the USB cable into the system.
In command prompt go to the Fastboot folder
fastboot -i 0x413c flash amss amss.mbn
fastboot -i 0x413c flash dsp1 dsp1.mbn
fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery 351recovery.img
fastboot -i 0x413c reboot
When the phone is rebooting immediately hold the Volume Up + Down keys to enter the RECOVERY
Select Software Update option and then at the Update screen press the Shutter Button to Start the Update
If everything is done as it is written, you will be back to stock
CHEERS MATE!!
GZSammy
Don't forget to hit the thanks button that's a lot of writing there!! LOL
@GZSammy Thanks for your reply
i'm gonna try your procedure.
I think flashing amss.bin and dsp1.bin will do the trick.
hi, can please give me any download link for amss.bin and dsp1.bin. im not really sure which version of them , i should flash.
i got the link for 351 file
im just posting them, bcz someone might need them.
http-://-mirror2.streakdroid.com-/manii/351/
remove - symbols
im struck again.
i'm happy that you are trying to help. i followed your procedure, but flashing amss.bin and dsp1.bin changed nothing.
i'm stuck at dell logo again and when i restarted my phone ishows' emergency recovery copy' and it will get restarted.
then it will take me to the emergency recovery tool , but i can i see that recovery version became 347 again.
Any better ideas ?

Bruv,
Once you are done with the flashing of the amss and the dsp1 then the recovery, enter recovery and select the pkg to install... then it will state somethjng about the emergency software recovery press the shutter or the power button (dont remember which one) to start the installation.... happened with me in my earlier days i was sitting at that screen for hours and then i thought that it is screwed so attempted emergency recover... and the phone restarted with no changes... next run i was at the same screen and i discovered that after selecting the pkg we need to press power or i guess shutter button to initiate the installation... i guess u r facing the same issue..
If you are not sure which button to press, then press the opposite button stated for emergency recovery.
Eg. If it says press camera button for emergency software recovery then press power
And if power is written then press camera button.
And it will initiate the installation....
Sent from my Dell Streak while I was away from my Alienware
The only thing that I see missing is that when you finally try to reboot, no matter what you have flashed you need to do a Factory Reset, if not the Streak will not want to boot.
Thats also a good point..

At step 5, i would recommend once it reboots, press and hold the vol+ and vol- button again to go into recovery mode, then select option 1 to do a Factory Reset. Please do a backup just in case.
Another thing to try is, if you are back to StreakMod Recovery, boot into the recovery, do a wipe dalvik cache and wipe cache partition before flashing the stock recovery and rom. Again, please do a backup in case.
thanks for reply

i 've tried doing factory reset after step5, but it didn't help.
Is there anything else. i think i have two solutions.
1)Removing factory recovery (347)completely from the system. it may or may not solve the problem.
2)I need to find stock 347 rom, i think it will work.
I'm searched everywhere, but i couldnt find 347 rom.
is there any thing i can do for this problem.

finding a stock rom 347 is something which I guess you wont be able to do.
second option we already tried...i dont know why it is not working..
What i think is this that you need a Nandroid backup of a stock 351 0r 354 rom and you can restore the same from the streak mod recovery which i guess is already installed on your device...
Search in the forums I remember a guy asking for a nandroid backup files and someone uploaded it on a share....
Just check
If not then i will try to get you a nandroid image which I have but dont know where to upload...

What else you an try is this that try any other retail dell rom probably 318 or any other build and if it flashes correctly and phone is able to boot, then try to install the later ones....my point is to get rid of any customization in the recovery......
I agree with geo.samuel, you have to get rid of custom recovery and make sure you are using the stock DELL recovery image so that you can flash an update.PKG instead of an update.ZIP.
It seems you are knowledgeable enough to get into fastboot, so go to the DELL Streak WIKI at this link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Fileell_Streak.png
and download the recovery image and PKG of your choice (rename the .PKG file to "update.pkg"), I would suggest 354 or 351.
Flash the recovery image from fastboot (now I have a question, when you are in fastboot, do your commands take or are you just taking for granted that your computer is pushing the command?) I have to ask that, sometimes it won't take. If so, then execute the reboot command from the command terminal also.
As geo and others have said, when you see the DELL logo come up, push both camera buttons to get into recovery mode. Choose option 2 to find the update.PKG file you have placed on the ROOT of your SD card. Now at this point, if it allows you to choose the "update.pkg" file you downloaded. If it's asking for an "update.zip" file, then something in fastboot didn't succeed and you need to check your drivers and start with that process all over again.
Now, once you have gotten it to take the flash of the "update.pkg" file on your SD card it will reboot, now give it a few minutes, even if all was successful, it could take up to 15 minutes for it to get beyond the DELL logo. If it stays stuck there, then do a battery pull at least once more before trying to do a factory reset from the stock recovery.
Why is the OP not using MultiRecovery Flasher to flash his recovery image? He'd have a far easier time using that than manually issuing the fastboot commands. Plus it includes all the recovery images that are on the wiki.

I don't see any mention of MultiRecovery Flasher here. In any event, when you flashed the recovery image did you boot back into StreakDroid, download the ROM, then go back into recovery?
What you should have done, at least according to Radimus' Guide to Flashing the Streak, is to have the update.pkg on the SD Card before flashing the recovery.img. That way, once the image is on the Streak you can simply hold down volume up and volume down while the Streak reboots. From there, you restore the ROM.
Check your drivers. Reinstall the drivers if necessary, and then follow the instructions in the guide.

[Q] Permabricked 16Gb nook, no adb, can't boot recovery, can't restore from sd

It doesn't seem real common, but I seem to have permabricked my nook. I can't connect to it via adb, can't boot to recovery from sd or the emmc, and can't seem to get it to recover via sdcard. I've tried Adam's Unbuntu Unbrick, copying the recovery to the sdcard, and trying to recover to 1.4.2 via the sdcard.
How I broke it:
I installed Goomanager and installed TWRP, and then flashed to CM9 with the 3.0 kernel. The recovery and CM9 were working as well as could be expected, but CM9 had too many Sleep of Death issues so I decided I wanted to roll back to a nandroid backup of CM7. TWRP couldn't see my backups, so I decided I'd flash the recovery back to CWM via indirect's nookrecoveryflasher.apk. This was the end.
The symptoms:
I rebooted after using the nookrecoveryflasher flashing back to CWM, and now it just displays the n with the copyright info. It then flashes white briefly, then a slightly bigger n is displayed, it gets brighter, then dimmer, then a black screen (still backlit). The charger goes from red-orange to green after the screen goes black, and charging appears to be halted. If I hold down the power button for 8 secs, the backlight goes off and the charger light turns back to red-orange and it seems to charge. ADB lists no devices.
Are there any suggestions for things I should try that I haven't already? I thought this was pretty much unbrickable but something went really badly, and this should have been a relatively "safe" operation.
Update:
I'm now able to boot to CWM from the SD card, not sure why I couldn't previously. From here I did a nandroid restore of CM7, but after restore/reboot, it gives me the exact same symptoms. I also tried to flashing the CM7, CM9 roms, but still doesn't seem to actually boot into them. Is there a way to complete unroot/reset from recovery?
Did you try removing and inserting the sdcard back in while in twrp?
I stayed with cwm and I was able to flash both kernel versions of cm9 just fine. Since u already tried the 1.4.2 revert to stock, your situation seems quite troublesome indeed

I can't get into either TWRP or CWM now.
Hm sounds like your recovery is screwed up...

Do you know what kind of bootloader you are using? Is it cyanoboot?
Sent from my Nook Tablet using xda premium
Cyanoboot was installed when I installed CM9, but after trying to flash back to TWRP, it doesn't seem to be coming up any more.
Wow that's unfortunate. I was thinking if u were using cyanoboot you would be able to hold the n button to choose where to boot from...

Have you tried burning a clockworkmod recovery image to an sdcard and booting into cwm via said sdcard? If you can get this to work, you can flash the internal cwm recovery zip to overwrite the internal recovery partition.
Also try the 8 failed boots method. Each time you see the gray n logo dissapear when powering on, pressand hold both the n button and the power button until your nook tablet shuts off. Repeat this 8 times and your tablet should be forced to boot into recovery mode. Good luck!

I don't think that will work, as it sounds as though the recovery partition was broken with indirect's app (it happens and I think there is a thread he made with 1 method of fixing broken partitions but it requires you to have drivers set up properly for it).
I had this same thing happen to me when indirect pushed his new app that supports the 8GB and 16gb models out. I got the big N and I ended up flashing cwm via sdcard cwm and then flashing cm9 again via the newly flashed internal cwm.
Yes I've tried putting CWM on the sdcard but the same thing happens. I've also tried 3 different sdcards 2,8,16Gb. I've tried meghd00t's repart.img and it all behaves the same. It's as if the code that gets called to read the sdcard is broken now.
It sounds like after that white flash is when CMW should load but instead I get a bit bigger n, and then it goes black.
Is there a way to complete unroot/reset from recovery?

try locating the stock 1.4.2 rom in the development section and flash that. see if it works.
In general if you are in CWM you have adb access at that time. The world is at your wish when adb works. Push stock recovery, etc., etc. Instead of trying to flash (which continues to fail) use adb to recover by of the many methods available. I would begin with pushing stock recovery and boot recovery (by command or power + N).
Good Luck.

Did you flash TWRP using the .zip from the 1st-2nd page? That TWRP .zip is bugged so as not to recognize an external sd. I had a problem like this until I used a recovery sd (ill put a link in here in a sec)
I had a terrible 13 hour run of trying to fix it before I finally got it to boot, then I opened up my gmail inbox and found out that I had won a Transformer Pad 300 from Phandroid.com, needless to say after 13 hours I was nearly hysteric when I found this out, hope your issue gets resolved.
I also couldnt mount sd, couldnt adb, couldnt fastboot, couldnt get sd to show up in TWRP so maybe this method will work:

Issue with recovery freezing

Recently decided to try and switch over to CM10, and have been having an issue with recovery. Both of the latest CWM and TWRP recoveries freeze for me after booting into them. The only recovery that works for me is the one that is flashed with the old app by Indirect but that flashes a really old CWM recovery. The recoveries that I have tried flashing are the ones linked to in the http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877217 thread. Both http://celticstorage.co.uk/cm10/CWM_v6.0.1.5_emmc.zip and http://celticstorage.co.uk/cm10/TWRP_v2.3.1.1_emmc.zip are doing it. I have a 16GB that ive kept (rooted) stock forever.
What happens is i go to boot to recovery, go through cyanoboot to recovery, and then CWM freezes up and blackscreens after I try to wipe something or install a zip, TWRP just locks up immediately and gives me a black screen. Any help fixing this would be greatly appreciated.
Use this thread to install CWM, I'm not a fan of TWRP. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25786947 I used this and had no problems updating

This has been happening to me occasionally. I have found that when I get the black screen, pressing the Power button launches Recovery (CWM in my case). See if that works for you.
I now have the exact same problem. I've always ran off emmc. It says cwm 6.0.1.5 is installed. When I try to either wipe, or install zip-from-sd, cwm freezes then goes to the black screen. I cannot install any zips, so right now the tablet has nothing installed only a freezing cwm recovery it seems. I can use the power button to get out of the black screen and into cwm thru cyanoboot all day, but get nothing but these same steps reoccurring. Freeze, then black sod. I'm ready to try anything but cannot flash anything.
To the rescue
Ok, I have posted this on a different day. Try this with a blank sd card. Look at the bottom post called "Here is a video"
It a external boot cwm v.5 but you can copy this into your sd then flash and you have cwm v6.0.1.5 internal. Either way you have two ways to do recovery (external and internal):victory:

Well, I think I need to clarify more. Maybe somebody can help if I give more info. I've had cm7 running perfect, then decided to install cm10. I first flashed a cwm 6.0.1.5 zip to emmc. I did a factory reset via this recovery thinking my next move would be to flash the cm10 zip I'd put on the sd. No joy. This is where I'm at now.
In recovery it freezes and reboots to the "2 androids" screen with a sod. I hold power for 20 sec.s to turn off, then turn back on and get to cyanoboot fine. There, if it's allowed to just boot it freezes at the 2 androids. If I hold "n" to get the menu and recovery (6.0.1.5) it looks normal, will boot to recovery OK until anything is selected like the cm10 zip. It freezes before any selections can be finalized, and boots to that sod screen.
I know nothing of ubuntu! Sorta scared to go there with my limited knowledge. But will read up if it's required. Is it possible that this new recovery image don't play with what is currently on the sd? Is there anything I can put there that it may recognize in order to get a flash? Man, I'm lost!
Look pass the fear and go one step at a time, before you know it, your there.
It looks like you have already resolved this from this thread.
Ok, basically I'll go step by step.
1. Download ubuntu iso from ubuntu website (you can donate or put 0$ then download iso) and burn it to cd. 5 minutes
2. Stick the cd into a system that you don't plan to look at the video that is showing you the process and boot it up from a reboot and not from within windows. Select the left square which basically load the ubunbu from cd but does not install anything to your hard drive.3 minutes
3. You can view the whole video but I would skip to the section in video (3:28 watch to 4:43, 6:56 watch to 8:06 ) where I mentioned the setting the two flags in your sd after quick format fat32 and extracting the four files into your sd within ms windows platform from the post . I did this with a normal mini sd card adapter and not the usb stick adapter he used in the video. Since you are doing this to a blank mini sd then there really nothing to worry about since it is blank in the first place. 2 minute
4. If you had your apps backup with titanium backup then it still will be on the main mini sd and not the one that working with for this recovery.
5. I notice you did not mention wipe dalvik cache from your post. You should always wipe dalvik then wipe factory then do a single flash to test boot up.. You can flash gapps after a successful boot up into jellybean. (here's a video showing that I'm using external cwm v.5 even though its recommended to use v.6 .) You can always use cwm v.6 on your next cm10 test rom or use cwm v.6 to reflash to same rom once a successful boot up have been obtained with external cwm v.5. This purpose is to get it running on your nt.
6. Be patient for the first boot. Should not be more than 5 minutes max. It will look black then load. If it boot loops then wipe dalvik then wipe factory and do a single flash to test boot up again.
This will at least get cm 10 flavored rom on to your nt.

Got it back! Thank you for your help & patience. Also for the timely responses. I now have a bootable "recovery sd card" for curing these type problems. I've labeled it & filed away for any future borks of this kind! And I have cm10 up & running stable.
Thank you!
