[Q] Flashing my SGS3 with a Mac (Heimdall) - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
I'm trying to flash my newly purchased SGS3 with the Omega CustomRom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663656) by using Heimdall(-frontend) on a mac.
Each time I open the downloaded zip it tells my that the "tar header contained an invalid file size".
Has anyone experienced the same problem?
I'd love to install the Omega Mod on my SGS3 as it really seems worth it.
Thanks in advance, and all the best,
eiSi

[Q] SD Downloading failed,File open Error??

Sent from my GT-S5830 running ImaGinary ICS.
Thank if it helped. It's there for a reason
Please help me!
Hi everyone! Recently I got this Thosiba tg01 and wanted to change from wm6.5 to 7 or to some cooked rom.
What I tried:
SDDL method: SD Downloading Failed - File Open Error
Pin method: Same error.
Tried 4 roms, all gave me the same error.
Is there a way to flash rom from pc or from the phone itself. Please help me I just can't stand WM6,5. If not, i'll sell my device.
Half a year on I still get the same problem, can't seem to find a solution
Seems like I will never get a solution then
the sd card must be formated and must contain Only "PRG" folder, inside folder put sddl and .bin file 0321 version !
Hello there,
Just to clarify:
- the uSD Card must be formatted.
- sddl+.exe must be in the ROOT of the card.
- the TGO01xxxx.tsw ROM image file must be in the \prg folder.
- execute sddl+.exe from file explorer and it will then flash the ROM.
Hope that helps It's actually very straightforward and reliable.
The 'short pin' method is primarily used if you happen to have a 'half-bricked' device and are unable to boot to start with.

Kevin

[Q] Extract Compressed File to SD Card Director on First Boot

Hey guys,
I'm currently in the middle of developing my own ROM for an S802 based TV box (M8). I am close to releasing but I have a few issues, one very much in particular. I am trying to find a script that will extract a .tar file to the /sdcard/ directory on first boot of the ROM but I'm having a hell of a time. I am a reseller of these boxes and I'm trying to get my Kodi userdata to extract into the proper directory, /sdcard/Android/data/, on first boot but nothing I do seems to be working. Currently I'm using a script called installApk.sh. From what I've gathered it works fine for extracting .tar files to non-sdcard directories but when I attempt to point the extract path of the tar to the /sdcard/ directory it fails. I've also tried decompiling the kodi apk, injecting all of my userdata directly into the apk and re-signing but that causes all of the addons to fail. I'm wondering if any of you have run into a similar issue or know a solution to my problem. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Updater process ended with ERROR: 7

Hallo everyone,
So I wanted to install cyanogenmod on my Galaxy S III i9300, but unfortunately I got stuck and dont know what to do further.
-I installed twrp-3.0.2-1 using Odin3 v3.09
-Downloaded cm-13 nightly and GAPPS
-Wiped everything
-Tried to install cyanogenmod
Reconstructing the log:
Checking for MD5 file ...
Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found
symlink: some symlinks failed
Updater process ended with ERROR: 7
Error installing zip file "(directory and name of the zip)
So at this point I tried several TWRP versions and several cyanogenmod version ending up with the same result and getting pretty desperate.
Can anyone help me here?
Thanks in advance
Edit: I of course tried to find a solution without posting first. I saw something about the SD memory formatted as internal memory, but couldnt make a sense of it or how to change it. Also I just bought a micro SD today to do this.
Also I always have to run Odin with the TWRP versions after i got the error since my phone wont return to the menu only to the downloading status with the green android guy
Consider me stupid....
Seems like the i9305 stuff is working better on my phone

the solution is
1. wipe some partitions using the advanced wipe. the app will automatically updates the partition
2. reinstall the ROm
This thread is over a year old. Error 7 message may be due to an outdated custom recovery or the ROM was not made for the phone.

ROM Installing Issues [SOLVED]

Hey, guys.
I own a Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro (Grand Win) I-8552. I am trying to update it to 4.4. I found a valid (looking) zip that needs to be flashed.
But now I can't use CWM, which the ROM needs (my phone is unsupported). Can't use Odin, 'cause it needs a *.tar extension or something like that, and converting a zip into a tar file doesn't work when it has a META-INF folder and *.img extension file.
Every page I have visited about installing CWM on unsupported devices requires a model-specific file from the website. So basically they are saying, "How to run CWM on unsupported devices, but requires a supported device."
Please !
EDIT: Never mind, I derped. How do I kill the thread?
