Don't bother, just bring it in and show or explain them the defect.
Maybe you want to get rid of the root-app shortcuts on the defaultscreen. You could also drain it first Returning will be no problem, trust a habitual returner, (see my sig).

O ok cool thanks. Still would like to know tho.

Factory reset
Download the .28 firmware from ASUS website --> Put it in /sdcard
--> Prime will ask for update --> Continue with update
Delete the .28 firmware zip file from the /sdcard
*make sure you download the right firmware (ww, de, us, etc)

I just rcvd a up date said it will take 10 min ...i am not sure what has been updated has anyone else rcvd this update?
I think that update was in relation to the camera. Just did mine. Said it would take 10 minutes
My prime shows no update when I check for it. Unless it downloaded and installed n everything itself while I was asleep. Will our device even do that or just download data automatically n we have to manually press tab to update?
What camera version do you have? Mines is tf201-0x9900
cant see any updates yet... maybe the update was not yet rolled out to east coast yet...

That's strange. It'd take over 5 hrs. For a "wireless" update to reach east coast. Or I wonder if this is for people with newer devices that just haven't received the latest updates yet that most have already.

what is the camera firmware version after update?
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk
I have had prime for two weeks i know this was not a camera nor the ics update those where done the first day i opened it.
My first update one week ago WAS Ics and camera when I turned it on for the first time. We leave in different part of the world, buy devices that are not all built at the same time, so we can't have all the same updates at the same time.
Guys please stop opening a thread each time you have an update... That's nonsense!
And have the decency to put thr firmware version in the title for ease of filtering.

I believe that you might be a member of the unlucky portion of the population that might be receiving this nonessential update later than than most of the community. I might suggest to bide your time for the moment or inquire about your most distressing problem to a representative of ASUS. I wish the best of luck to you.

RMA removed unlocked prime?

Ok I sent my prime to get my battery not working fixed and they fixed it with my prime being unlocked at no cost!
However I got it back today and it's been relocked and completely wiped!
There isn't anything on the internal sd card from me and cwm is gone!
I know its my prime because it has a small piece of the outer screen missing.
Oh well looks like I have to unlock it again!
BTW, it still has .21 installed and doesn't seem like they gave me anything from new update.
Probably normal procedure to do a full factory wipe on it.

Cool from ASUS to repair it for free, since it was unlocked!

just two questions:
1. could you still turn it on or was it dead? im asking because im wondering if they saw "this device is unlocked" when they turned it on.
2. are you in the us?

I'm sure it does, and I'm also sure that most of the ASUS repair centres do not bother checking whether the device is unlocked
Also, this mysterious "this device is unlocked" message only pops up when using a totally stock rom afaik.
Yeah if they did turn it on they would have saw a big V for the virtious rom i had installed.
I dont know if its still unlocked or not, I dont have cwm anymore and to be honest, I am not sure I want it unlocked again. I love this tablet and dont want to risk doing anything else.
Maybe when CM9 gets it right but then maybe the next Android Rom jelly bean will be out. What do you all think?

Green camera issue

Last two days ago, my prime fell off from our bed, my daughter somehow accidentally kicked it. Never thought about checking the camera right away, busy checkin f theres a dent made, fortunately not. However, yesterday, just realized that the camera was busted. Tried to press the back of the prime somehow fixes temporarily, but still it's annoying.... though i am not so fond of using this tablet as a camera, but seems it's incomplete. Should i return this for service or just leave it like this with bused camera. I know it's my call but i wanna hear some of your opinions. Thanks guys....

Well, as far as I know, it's a software issue were most of Prime users encounter during its lifetime. This happen to me too. I don't know why...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I doubt the reason the camera quit working is due to the fall, I baby my Prime and it has never taken a lick, yet my camera quit working about a week ago, I get the green scrambled screen like many, many others have gotten with theirs. Either they have poor connections to the board internally, or the software drivers are bad. Only my front works, and I live overseas so getting service is going to be a huge pain.

It's most definitely hardware. Squeezing the TFP by the camera brings back the camera for a second which makes it 100% hardware. It's likely a loose connection or poor solder joint.
My rear camera went green and I have never dropped it.
Unfortunately I have unlocked my Prime and therefore "technically" I am out of warranty. I may have to try to RMA it and see if they will fix hardware even if I unlocked it. I also have an LCD Mura and all the weak WIfi and BT issues. I may just wait until any other hardware issues popup and try to get them fixed all at the same time.
yep, this is most definitely hardware related. same thing happened to me and i had to RMA it. they didn't try to pin it on me for CID though, so you should be all set. I had my prime repaired and back in 12 days from sending it.
there are also a number of threads about this already. please try searching before making a new thread.

Good luck!
Mine is currently being RMA'd for exactly the same reason. It had a minor bump and the camera showed a broken image in green. Mine would also temprorarily get fixed by squeezing but after a bit that stopped working. Moral... Treat it like glass.
I am more than pissed. I just checked my camera. And now its GREEN! I take very good care of my equipment. My GF knocked it off of the couch last night while in the dock. maybe 15" fall onto my leg / carpet. I am beyond pissed. Reasons like this are prime example while i will never purchase another asus product.

I've got the green lines of death on my 8mp camera too. It just started happening. I can do the "squeeze" fix but as soon as I stop squeezing it goes back green and I never really get the camera to look right while squeezing. I also tried the soft reset button without help. I really don't want to RMA AGAIN. I just got my Prime back from Asus. I do have to say my RMA experiance was not bad though.
Has anyone found out the cause of this? To fix it ourselves so as to not pay ASUS to do it? I saw somewhere that it might be an overheat problem or something like it....

pretty sure its a physical damage problem, which seems more and more likely is caused by being dropped. might just be a loose connection, but unless someone with this issue opens up their prime to see if they can simply reconnect it, we won't know :\

Mine had never been dropped when it happened. But i found that the fridge gave me a temp fix when the problem first arose.... Don't know how my tablet ended up in the fridge, but that's where i found it lol. Once i get some micro screwdrivers i will be able to check. My eyeglasses phillips was too big for the screws.

TF201 Camera Broken?

Hello everyone. I have been in love with my TF201 sine purchasing it 5 months ago. I have encountered no problems with the tablet at all until, yesterday my friend wanted to take a picture, upon opening the camera app, all he saw was this. Now, I know somebody here will know if this is fixable or not. I am assuming that it isn't fixable and I'm just going to have to deal with a broken rear facing camera.
I should also mention that there is no damage to my TF201 and it has certainly never been dropped. So, is this just poor build quality that would cause this?

if i were you (that if you are still locked), i would trade it with tf700. there are like two forums about it in here...
hope you'll find a way to fix it...
I just RMA'd mine to fix this issue...which was caused by an RMA to fix LCD mura. If you specify that you do not want them to reset the software, you shouldn't have to worry it being relocked.
That is just my experience though. I made sure to let them know not to reset the software...by stating it large bold letters in red ink on the RMA checklist

You might give this a try (found it on a google search) before you call and RMA it.
Open your camera program.
See bad green screen or something unrecognizable.
Open Options.
Change quality to 3 Mps.
Change sides to 16/9.
Turn focus to "far away" (not auto).
Press by your finger to back camera with some power for 5-7 seconds.
Move finger away.
If it's working - have a fun!
If it's not - press again.
Open Options.
Change quality and sides back for your pleasure.
When you make photos you can turn on "Auto focus", but when you turn off camera program you should change in options focus to "far away" (not auto).

So, this must be a Normal issue with the TF201?
Sent from my TF201 using xda app-developers app
Same thing happened to mine.
I think it's just a software issue though. If you change to the front camera and back again it's just the previous image displayed chopped up. Normally I would just fix permissions or re-flash the ROM, but I don't really want to void the warranty by unlocking the bootloader.
I don't think its a software issue...there's a thread that tells of a temp fix....by squeezing the area by the camera.
Also, I have flashed pretty much every rom, including stock and it is still the same result, even with permissions fixed.

annoyingly enough this happen to me before too -_-;
send it for an RMA for the same problem people.... sigh.........
The big question is... Will you be able to RMA it even after flashing a bunch of different ROMS. Perhaps flash stock again and send it back?
I think the REAL question is:
Will Asus let us BUY the damn camera module?
I've had a bad camera for months now because I don't want to go without my tablet for weeks for something that I know will take 15 minutes. I've seen more than enough tear downs to know it's nothing I couldn't handle, I just want to PAY them for the part.
Every few weeks I search for it as a part to buy, with no luck
