[Q] Can't wipe data/factory reset on nAa-11 Kernel - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

hi xda devs!
i own an E10i and i have MiniCM7 installed with nAa-11 kernel
But my problem is, when i try to do a wipe data/factory from CWM it get stuck on "wipe sd-ext"
it never ends. then i have to push poewr button + home button and turn it on again.
i actually have the MiniCM7 working on my device but i can't do a wipe data/factory reset
what should i do?

Firstly, next time ask questions in the Q&A forum, not in the General forum.
Secondly: Try to format sd-ext in the Mount and Storage section of CWM, it might solve your problem.

sorry about that
i saw a lot of topics here about problems so i thought this was the right forum to do that.
and this didn't solved my problem
it still get stuck on "Formatting /sd-ext..."

do you have a sd-ext partition on your SD? so an ext2/3/4 partition for apps2sd on eclair. because if you do try formatting it in a PC or deleting it. miniCM7 has native apps2sd so you can move them to the main partition on your SD

I think i dont have that partition.
The SD is formated in fat32 (formated by Android).
So, that's the problem?

No, if the sd-ext partition does not exist it will just skip it, I'm not sure what is going wrong. maybe it's a problem in cwm itself, Maybe Re-flash the kernel will solve it.

I have tryed to re-flash the rom, but still not working..

[Q] X10 Mini Pro Gingerbread Roms and apps still installed after wiping cache?

Something strange is happening to me. I always have installed 2.2 roms on my X10 mini pro with the same precedure: formating cache, wipe status and fotmating Dalvik cache and never had a problem; but now, with Gingerbread based roms, even doing the same, always appear my old installed apps and the roms don't work properly. I can't avoid this and I've installed roms even from the original stock rom and I can't solve it, i also tried to format the SD Card, and same...
Strange? Any solutions?
Thanks in advance!!
Weird.. never experienced that issue before. I've noticed gingerbread gives you a list of apps when you set up your google account. You can tick boxes and it will install the apps without having to bother with market - however, the 'modern' version of market doesn't like it and is sllllooooooowww.
If the phone/sd card is wiped I don't know how it keeps them. I can only think you could try to move the apps to sd and then format it, then reinstall the rom.

I've tried to move the apps to the SDcard, and still the same. Maybe if I don't tick the Google option about Security Copy it won't happen?
Even if I'm not logged in Google, when I've just installed the rom and the android symbol appears (Touch the android to continue), appears my previous installed app IMO+ and Advance task killer; and when I get the apps list, several of them still there, but withot data, only the apps.
Agree: New market sucks...
Thanks for the help bro!
Here it is what I do always I stall a new rom:
1º.- Recovery mode (Clockwork recovery)
2º.- Wipe data/factory reset.
3º.- Wipe Cache partition.
4º.- Wipe Dalvik Cache.
5º.- Install the rom from the SD card..
6º.- Wipe Data/Factory reset.
7º.- Wipe Cache partition.
8º.- Wipe Dalvik Cache.
And... tachaaaaaaaaaaaaan!! The previous installed apps still there, but no their DATA...
I experienced your same issue. Maybe CWR wipe does not wipe porperly.
I solved this way: extracted SD from mini and formated from PC.
Thanks, i'll try wiping with Xrecovery and if it doesn't work i'll format the sd in PC.
Thanks a lot!

Still using Xrec? Most ROM's now use CWM, D4rKn3sSyS recently released a dual recovery (xrec and cwm, depending on which button you press), it somewhere on page 1 at the time of writing. (sorry, im too lazy to go copy its link =P)

Yes, I know and I always use CWM, but when I wipe the apps don't dissappear, so I tried Xrecovery and a different version of CWM, but still the same.
My SD Card has a EXT partition for Link2SD from 2.1 Stock rom; maybe...?!
My SD had EXT partition too. When I formatted it from PC I deleted that partition. New custom ROMs don't need any more to have a different partition to install applications on SD.

Could well be that. Probably worth repartitioning the sd card on the pc.

Yes, I know, but I kept it just in case I got back to Stock Roms.
Thanks!! I'll try, but I'm sure that's the problem.

[Q] Working CWM Restore?

I wanted to use CWM to restore my galaxy tab 10.1 but when I used CWM 5.0 it somehow crapped out restoring data. /system restored fine however. I also tried to use CWM 4.0 and overcome CWM5.1 to restore the same backup but I got the same issue. /system restored fine and it started to restore /data but crapped out somewhere towards the end. What this also did in the process was corrupt the /data partition where CWM would appear to reformat it and odin thought it was ok but the /data partition really wasn't OK as I got several weird side effects. A repartition with PIT file in odin solved the problem. (Almost solved the problem, after the odin flash was done and the tablet ran some initializing script it said /data was corrupted. A formating using STOCK recovery fixed it).
Has anybody figured out a recovery that can properly backup and restore CWM backups? I guess titanium + reflash rom zip is a workable alternative.
PS: reflashing with repartition erases your /sdcard partition.

This is what most veterans recommend anyway, as far as I know.
If you can read this it was sent using my GT-P7510.
If you rename your backup folder, make sure you dont use space in folder name

Link2SD

Hi, I recently installed and set up link2sd... and i have a few questions regarding this topic,
1) When I do a CWM backup does it backup my SD card second partition which contains the linked apps?
2) If i do a factory reset, will my apps that are linked to the SD card stay with the data since they are in the SD card?
3) If I format the normal partition of my SD card will it affect the second partition by any means?
Thanks...

1.
When the mount script was successful than cwm will backup your 2nd partition.
3.
That depends how you format the card. Under windows it will kill your second partition.
Use a partition program like mini tool to format only your first partition.

Thanks guys for the reply!
But I still dont undertand the answer to the 2nd question. If we factory reset are apps that are linked to SD card gone or not? in other words does it format the second partition as well when carrying out a factory reset via CWM.

Noob questions
Hi all
just have a few questions, just point me where i can find the answers
1- benefit of having 2 partition on SD
2- what s the size the partition if i have a 8gb card
3- What format is better fat32, NTFS, ext2,3or 4
4- swap size 0 or 64mb
i had a problem i couldnt solve in my neo when i was using App to sd and i tried to move an apk to sd it says "not enough storage"
although i had 3 GB free then. i formated the sd using Fat32 format 4k unit size. so i didnt saw that error again but i got other error like "unfortunately, apk has stopped". did i mess with something.
thanks in advance

Don't blame me but link2sd has a really great homepage that answers all your questions.
You should take a look there.

Don't do a factory reset...
just format cache and data and after you flash a ROM install link2sd, choose mount script, reboot and then do the following steps:
1. Menu > More > Relink all application files
2. Menu > More > relink library files
3. Menu > quick reboot
That's it! Now you have all your apps back!

Yes it is different.
Both move apps to the sd card, but
- Move to sd but them to the first partition
- link option in link2sd but them to the second partition.
Read the benefit moving to 2nd partition at link2sd homepage.

Wiping Internel Storage? Missing?

I cant seem to find a way to wipe INTERNAL storage? Normally an option under wipe in TWRP is no longer there?
why is this? any way to do it?
Paul
there should be an option for factory data reset. that's what that does

Thanks in advance!

I think that if you flash any ROM in CWM, SD stays untouched :what:
So, if you flash CM10.2 after a facory reset and a system wipe your SD card will stay as before, nothing gets deleted

No guys, what I'm asking is: If I install cm10.2 without formating my sdcard, my sdcard will work? Because this rom have a bug that sdcard wont work sometimes. In cm10.1 I has to format sdcard before install the rom, Will I have to do this again to upgrade to cm10.2?
