Check out this thead from the same forum you've just started your thread in

1) There is no best rom. Try bunch of roms out until you find one you like.
2) How to flash a rom ? Read the Stickies or follow the instructions for flashing a particular rom.

How is this urgent?
Do us all a favour and make like a tree.

I've never used either nor looked in their threads, but I'm positive there'll be instructions telling you how in their respective threads.

Sorry never realised it was against rules to ask that, just didn't want to brick my phone
Just follow guides step by step and you will not brick your phone...
To be safe just get roms based on CM9, CM10 or AOKP. Should not have brick bug.

Hello!!
Question: if My S2 orinially came with XWLPI, I can install other Roms too? or I can install only Roms that has XWLPI in the name?
Which rom mostly suggested for me to install?
I've rooted the device with Odin and install CWM for recovery.

Yes, you can install other firmware/roms, as to which one to use, that is ultimately your decision, take a look at all the roms and pick one. Everyone has differeing opinions as to the best rom so take their opinions with a grain of salt. Have fun!

SGS2 ROM queries

Hey Peeps.
I have a SGS2 and I am using Resurrection Remix JB v3.8 by Westcrip
My phone randomly reboots, apps keep crashing, the phone staggers alot sometimes and thats about it
I have been out of the update ROM scene for a while.
My questions are:
- is RR JB still a really good ROM to use?
- if no to the above, what ROM would you guys recommend that is fast and stable?
I really and would appreciate your help
Hopefully I receive some support soon
Thanks

Whilst I understand and appreciate not a single ROM maybe suited to all and its somewhat trial and error process to find out what works best for you, what happens if you dont want to try them all and just want to go with whats popular as I do?
Is there a way of knowing / finding out which ROM's are widely used by forum members?
I just need to get away from RR due to above mentioned issues and dont have the time at the moment to test several ROM's in the process.
What I would like from a new ROM is speed and stability.
Thank you

Maybe try to reinstall the rom with a full wipe, because that's not normal behaviour for a rom otherwise nobody would use it.
There isn't just one answer to your question for the best rom, that's why there are xda-rules as mentioned here above. If you don't want to use nightlies or roms that are still under development, search for an older stable version.

You can look at the amount of views and posts on each rom thread for the most popular, but the one in my sig is fast and stable

Status 7 generally means you're attempting to install something meant for another device.
Did you note that the file /emmc/rootbox-JB-i9100g v3.2.zip contains i9100g? Do you have an i9100, and not an i9100g? That firmware linked above is for the Rootbox that is in the I9100G development section.
Download the rootbox meant for the i9100 (NOT FOR THE i9100g) and try that. It'll be in either the I9100 Android Development, or I9100 Original Android Development section. I don't remember which one it is, but if you take 5 minutes and look for it, you should be able to find it. If you can't, I'd rethink flashing anything to your phone. No offense, but I'm of the firm belief that not just anyone should flash custom firmwares. If you can't follow directions, for your own sake you should stay on a stock firmware.
so all went OK with the installation, thanks for your help
So far , no apps have crashed and the phone has not rebooted randomly....
Enjoying this ROM so far, its fairly speedy as well
Perhaps I will add a theme on...I am already using Dorimanx 7.21 kernal
thanks

[q] installing rom on gt-i5503

I am really a kiddo in these matters, so i seek help from the experienced persons.
I have installed Rom toolbox pro on my phone. I want to install a rom like cyanogen mod on it . Is it safe??? Can i do this by using rom toolbox.
Also would this upgrade my phone's OS.
Please if anyone can help me then give a detailed guide and download links. Thank you all.
Yes its save to install but you have to follow the installing instructions carefully like wiping data/cache/dalvik cache/system/ in the recovery. It won't work if you don't have any official recovery installed in your phone like cwm. Hopefully you know about what I'm talking.
[*] The CM7 ROM will upgrade your Android OS to Gingerbread 2.3.7
[*] The CM7 ROM will give you options to power up you device
[*] The CM7 ROM is stable and for daily use
For a detailed guide and download links go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20782937
I think the links are outdated so here's the

**IMPORTANT**
DON'T FLASH THE BOOTLOADER. IT'S RISKY!
I hope i could help

[Q] Installing new Rom?

Hi all!
I would really like to install a new unofficial ROM on my s3.
Here's the question: I am currently using I9300XXEMC2, the device is rooted and I already installed CWM Recovery and Rom manager.
Can I install Omega ROM (Based on beta firmware XXUFME7) straight from the I9300XXEMC2 fw?
Thank you for the answers.
Peace and love <3
I would recommend using recovery directly. You may or may no0t need to wipe. Please have a look at the link in my signature "read before rooting" to help you understand the basics

Hi and thank you for your answer.
I red the thread in your signature, but it didn't help (or I didn't see it) for my question.
My question is: do I need to install a new BB, before flashing the rom, if I want to flash a rom based on a different BB from the one I'm currently using?
Thank you so much in advance.
(Sorry for bad english, I'm italian ^^ )
The rom is installed over the old rom. It replaces it entirely. You can flash any rom over any other rom except you may need to wipe data for the reasons explained in the "read before rooting" thread.
Roms are not based on bb's (if you mean baseband). Any baseband should work on any rom. Always backup efs (again in the thread I suggested you read). Whether the thread answers a particular question or not is irrelevant. You really need to know all of it
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
In this case a full wipe is probably necessary to go from 4.1.2 to 4.2.2
Thank you so much!
This is not my first time flashing, anyway thank you for the thread, I red it all, and yeah, I was talking about the baseband^^
Thankyou, problem solved, moderators: you can close this thread.
Thanks again XDA for the fast help you provide
