[Q] How to remove delete confirmation - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've just upgraded from a HTC Desire to the S3 and I must say this phone is awesome. The USB host mode is amazing and seems to work better than my Xoom. As it was able to determine that unknown to me, my external hard drive had become corrupt, I'd previously been trying for months to get it working on my Xoom with no success.
Anyhow my question is does anyone know how to remove the delete confirmation from the standard email app?
Thanks.

Are you sure you want to remove the delete confirmation? (sorry)

App Inventor?

Has anyone figured out how to get the droid eris to work with app inventor? From what I've heard everyone's having a lot of trouble with it. I'm on a mac, btw, and I've been mounting the phone as a disk drive with no success.
I just sent my request for an invite yesterday, so obviously have not heard back yet. I don't think there are many that have gotten theirs yet either... Just for fun, I did install the appinventor-extras and it did recognize my phone, so I hope that's a good start. Running Windows 7 32bit.
Do you have a Droid Eris as well? And yah, I think it has something to do with running it on a mac because it isn't compatible with HTC Sync which contains most of the drivers I need.
Have an Eris but do not have Sync set up. Already had adb installed so probably just used the the ones that were already added in.
When I get my invite I will get it to work with the Droid Eris. Btw, if you're on a mac, ubuntu works really well dual booted, if thats your thing.
Does anyone know the extent of apps that you can make with this thing? Like, how complicated are we going to be able to get? I'd love to make a mashup of my favorite home replacements...

Yah, it's surprisingly in depth actually. So far, I've noticed there's a function which can force a text, an "activity starter" (which allows you to open apps on the phone), and basic textbox and image components, to name a few.
just got my invite about an hour and a half ago and I still cant get my phone to connect to app inventor... I tried using the custom .inf and that didnt work. it wouldnt even recognize it. i am going to use the emulator for now.
if anyone finds a working driver please upload it.
I have a question to anyone who has access to app inventor. Does anyone else's phone reboot when loading an app onto it? Also in google chrome every time I open the blocks editor it makes me download a new jar file.
AcidRoot, It's normal to download the file everytime. And I don't have problems with my Eris rebooting, but mine doesn't work with AppInventor (I was invited).

Android unlock-able phone HELP ):

Hello all,
I am sorry if I didn't do a throughout search but I needed help urgently..
and so...
I was playing with a friend's Hero's pattern lock, until it got locked till the extent whereby only inputting the gmail's account details were the only way to unlock it...
He tried to input the particulars, but they didn't work..
he was rather sure that the details were correct..
Anyone can provide any help to this?
Is there any way to "rollback" to the lock screen? I am sure my friend remembers the pattern... just that we couldn't go back ):
Or do we need some kind of internet connection to connect to verify for the account?
Anyone who have experience, I appreciate your help! (and everyone else)
Thanks!
is the phone rooted ? do you have access to the recovery menu ?
No I don't think so... my friend just recently got the phone and has done pretty much nothing other than installing apps from the app store...
He's a first time user of Android too... (so am I...)
Btw, recovery menu wise, do you mean the one whereby he holds a few of the buttons and on the device?
Yea, we managed to get there,
but didn't make any selections because there were some important messages inside the phone... and he doesn't want to hard reset his phone...
Any help? :/
Well if you are on the original stock rom that got shipped with the phone (I assume its 1.5), then I do remember a bug which didnt allow us to get through that menu. So we needed to do a hard reset.
If it has the 1. 5 Rom you can call the phone and disable the unlock pattern. You can do this by going into settings while the call is still being made.
Don't know if you're understanding this. This is the best way to explain.

I've done this a few times accidentally and the Google sign-in has always unlocked it.
Get him to log into his Gmail account on a PC to check his username and password, and then try the same details on the phone. If he's signed in with the correct user account then it should work if everything has been input correctly.
Also, when the phone tries to auto-complete his email address make sure it's correct... my phone always wanted to give me @Googlemail.com, however my email is @Gmail.com so I had to manually change it.
As for apps he has downloaded from the Market... if you do need to do a hard reset then he will be able to download everything again via the downloads tab in the Market app,
Also, any photos, mp3s etc stored on the SD will all still be there as the SD remains unaffected by a reset. The only thing he might loose is any contacts stored on the phone which are not sync'd with Google or saved on the SIM.

[Q] bluetooth phonebook access issues?

Hey everybody. Recently got a photon 4g, and I absolutely love it, with one exception.
I cannot get it to sync the phonebook with my car. I recently got a 2012 chevy with the onstar system, and when I would pair my evo 4g, it would get the phonebook and show me the names associated to whoever was calling me (if it was in the phonebook, of course.)
With the photon, I am able to pair it with the car with no problem, but cannot get it to read the phonebook. I get a request to access the bluetooth phonebook access profile, to which I say yes and make sure "always allow" or "always accept" is checked. But it still doesn't do it. making / getting calls is no problem, but it just shows the phone number, and its a hassle dialing the number, since there is no phone book via the car.
Anyone have any similar problems? Or any suggestions as to what may be causing it? I tried copying my contacts to the sim card, hoping maybe that would be where it was trying to read from, but no luck. The evo works perfectly in this regard, so I'm still using it for now, but I'd really like to find a way to get this to work so I can start using the photon all the time!
Thanks!
Bringing back an older thread, but I just bought a 2012 sierra and I am having the same problem. It wont pull in my contacts. So I have to say the number of the person I want to call rather than their name. I dont know their numbers so I end up using the phone, which sort of defeats the purpose.
Also, the Onstar RemoteLink app in the market is not compatible from some reason either. My samsung moment is, but not my photon. WTF?
Last problem is that the installed USB port will not recognize my photon. I am not sure if these are phone specific problems or GM problems. You think they would have it figured out by now...
I have the same issue with the motorola T325 bluetooth speaker, says downloading contacts and after a few minutes it say download failed, even made sure to allow access.

So, I figured out why the Onstar RemoteLink is not compatible with the photon. It is because the app does not support the resolution of 4.3" screens. Just 3-4" screens. What the hell. Many phones are 4.3"! This information is from the onstar website.
To answer the second part, its GM (or onstar) not my phone. They haven't updated their usb drivers to support newer phones. However, some old Nextel phones are supported! Again, WTF?

I was able to find the current apk file for onstar remotelink 1.3. It works on our phones just fine, the market just wont allow us to get it because it deems it as incompatible. In any case, I attached the apk file is someone wants it.

Dropped my phone and the screen isn't working

Hi, I recently dropped my Vibrant and the screen is broken. Now I don't need to get it fixed because I already ordered a new phone a few days ago, but I do need the data on the Vibrant. Is there any way to extract the data like contacts from the phone? And I think usb storage is off
edit: was able to blindly enable usb mass storage if that helps
You don't have your contacts sync'd to your gmail?

apparently not, it looks like it hasn't been updated in while since it's missing a lot of contacts

Do you have the Android sdk installed on your pc?
Can you recall if "USB Debugging" was enabled on your phone?
If you meet the criteria above well here is your answer.

This little handy program will allow you to control your phone via your pc. This should help you navigate through your phone and sync your contacts to your gmail account.

Give the phone to me and I will switch the MB on your phone to my phone and get the information for you. (my phone has lost the capability to use SIM card so currently I use it for a music player.) PM me.
I have a vibrant with a wonky connection somehwere, but perfectly functioning screen. If you sell the phone to me then I'd be happy to pull whatever data I can off of it and send you a CD/DVD/Flash drive with everything on it.
Ideally, I'd like to use your logic board to get my vibrant back in working condition.

Do Stock Kindle Apps work on other devices? Answer: No.

Hi folks,
i just googled my ass off, thinking someone must have had the same idea that I just came up with. Unfortunately to no avail.
Is it possible to run some of the stock kindle apps on other devices?
The reason I'm askin is that I just saw my dad usin his KFHD7 calendar application and I liked it better than any other calendar app I've seen for Android.
Could anyone provide me with an apk? Does the kindle even use APKs for its stock apps? My father is unfortunately not a root-guy, so I cannot get the files from him. I'd really like to try it on my Asus tablet and on my HTC One X which both have similar display resolutions.
Thank you very much in advance guys, really appreciate your efforts.:good:
EDIT, see below: Answer is No. Apps do FC instantly. Please close topic

Don't know but I've zipped up a few (Calendar & Email) if you want to test them, not sure if they rely on other resources or APKs?

@persano: I'm afraid I don't really get what you're trying to bring across - are you saying you backuped your kindle-apks and could provide me with the calendar? I'm not sure...
No offence intended - might be a langauge thing...
edit: @Gilly10: Thanks, I'll try them out right away!! :good:
edit2: Jeeeezz, seems as if my provider is slowing down media fire on purpose. couldn't even load the webpage on my pc. had to use my phone to get there. now the download of 10ish mb is taking ages. i hate it. 81% and pending /rant
OK. The file finally arrived.
The good thing is: My question's answered now.
The bad thing is: The answer is 'no'.
App FCs instantly, no matter if it's installed by tapping it or if it's put into /system/app with appropriate permissions.
Tried it on an HTC OneX with a custom Jelly Bean Mod. Could install it, couldn't start it.
Tried it on an Asus Transformer TF101 with Stock ICS. Couldn't install it at all (package name already in use).
Thank you for your quick help guys!
