Is there a way to get YouTube to play HD videos ? At home on wifi its really clear but on 3g HQ it doesn't look as clear .

When you're in landscape mode, there's a HQ icon at the bottom right. Tap that. You can also set it to lauch all vids in HQ through settings.
edit - nevermind - just realized you were saying that you were already setting it for hq, and it still didn't look right. Sorry.

It should look the same on 3g and wifi. Try letting it buffer on 3g before playing it

Yeah you're right, when on 3g youtube loads HQ and on WIFI it loads HD. I wonder if there is a way to tick the app to always think it is on WIFI. I also wonder what quality it would load on LTE

[Q] Youtube widget

Anyone having problems with ther youtube widget not loading correctly
anybody? must be just my phone
I am having the same issue. I thought it may be something to do with Launcher Pro, however, I went back to the stock launcher to test it out and it is happening as well.
Every once and a while it works.. More often than not, it does not.
I'm having the same issue with my spark 360 live widget. Some times it works sometimes it doesn't.

Also when I get advertisements before the music videos shown by Vevo it takes a long time to load the advertisement and constantly skips, but the video itself plays smoothly.

Replace it with one that has the toggle enabled, then turn it off. Mine doesn't stop, unless I record.
Check Me Out On The Google Play Store!!!

Music pauses when a message or email comes through also... Basically when the notification sound comes in. It stutters when on Bluetooth.

DEFINITELY! Drives me nuts but there doesn't seem to be a fix (maybe keeping phone on silent when using bluetooth to stream music?).

If you're rooted, do this:

If you're not rooted, get rooted and do that.

YouTube not working anymore

Is the Nexus Q icon missing in YouTube for anyone else. Seems like the newest updates have broken integration of the Q in YouTube.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
make sure your on the right network as Q
I noticed this issue recently as well.
I have already made sure both are on the same network. I've reboot both a couple of times. I have tried multiple phones.
No go.
I'm going to try a factory reset and see if that helps.
I'm definitely on the same network... Music works fine.

You should check if HDMI is connected and if TV/Display/Monitor is turned on.
If there is no HDMI device, youtube is not working.

Turns out it was an issue with my TV... Didn't realize that it would cause the icon to disappear from the app.

Yeah, if hdmi isn't initialized, video options disappear

YouTube stutters with hd

I have a 2.0.6 OTA DNA and when ever using YouTube I get some pretty bad stutter iv turned on 2d gpu rendering and it helped some what. Is it just the app it has updated recently? If I download the video with tubemate in 1080p it runs fine so I'm starting to think it's just what ever renderer the YouTube app uses.

I've had the same issue with audio being fine but video does lag. I've also had it take forever to start the video and I have a 30mb/s internet

YouTube has been playing up on me since 4.3.
Plays half a video then spaz's out and restarts the video.
Only way ive found to fix is clear data and reinstall the updates!
Pain in the ass.
Apart from that....all good in the hood.

Glad to hear you've only got a minor problem
Some people have it so bad
Lets hope when a fix or 4.4 comes out it becomes even better

Do you have recovery installed? If yes, wipe cache and dalvik.
Well for me I had a massive problem where trying to play certain videos on the stock movies app would stuff up and the app would freeze.
I had to wait it out for it to crash but after that, YouTube wouldn't open, Facebook wouldn't and a few other apps wouldn't either. But to fix it, just restarted the phone but the stock movie app was still not working so I just had to download MX Player and use that instead

Yeah, I think it's more the videos that stuffed up but now it made my whole movies app messed up, I haven't touched it ever since though so I guess it could have fixed itself?
The videos wouldn't play through MX Player either. But I can live without those videos lol

I don't have any of these. I upgraded from rooted .257 to .290 using @[NUT]'s method, and everything works perfectly. On top of that, using this method you don't even lose your data.

Can anyone tell me if there are any additional Screen Mirroring options under Xperia Connectivity in settings in 4.3 as compared with 4.2*?
What's there Already? Let me know and I'll tell you

Thanks.
Under the Xperia Connectivity option - there is an option called 'Screen mirroring'.
When you click on that, the only option after that is 'Turn on Screen mirroring' and when you press that it comes up with a prompt saying to make sure the output device is ready to connect and it starts searching.
In my case, it finds my Samsung Smart TV once I enable screen mirroring on the TV - but when it starts connecting, it says connected for a second and then a prompt comes up on both screens saying that the screen mirroring has ended - the connection never gets established.
Not that big of a deal, but anyone on 4.3 experiencing camera error once in a while, and then if you just re open camera, it'll work again?
