I've got an Amaze 4G on Wind Mobile. My brother and I recently tried upgrading it to ICS. We followed numerous sets of instructions, flashing a recovery, a new version of hboot, s-offing the phone, changing the SuperCID and flashing an ICS ROM. We originally tried Android Revolution HD, but the phone always got stuck at the HTC logo and wouldn't boot up.
After a few hours of searching the forums and trying various things, we finally got the Energy ROM version 5/1 installed, after changing the SuperCID back to the Wind default (globa001 I think). We figured it was an issue with the Revolution ROM, but when I tried upgrading to Energy 5/6, I ran into the same issue.
I have searched the forums and found numerous people with the same problem, but I have not found a solution. I spent all night flashing ROMs and trying various things and I finally got it to go to the Energy boot animation, but it would just sit there and do nothing (I left it a good half hour). The next morning I tried installing Speed Rom with the SuperCID 11111111 and it worked. However, I had tried the same thing the night before, so I'm not sure what changed.
I'm not happy with Speed and would like to go back to Energy, but I'm worried it will brick my phone again.
I am currently using the TWRP recovery, but I used 4ext before with the same result. My firmware versions are as follows:
RUBY PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.93.0002
OpenADSP-v02.6.0.2226.00.0202
eMMC-boot
Any help would be very much appreciated.

ok, well if your on wind mobile you want to use super cid.
but heres what i think the problem is, you didnt mention anything about wiping. try flashing the superwipe.zip before flashing roms. and always have a nandroid of a working rom. or else you may get stuck....
if you need anymore help, i will be watching this thread
Sorry, I forgot to mention that. I used superwipe and tried the various wipe options in the recovery, with the same result.
I'll definitely look into nandroid before I try installing another rom ;-)
I'd advise switching back to 4EXT recovery, makes flashing easier, trust me. Now update your phone to stock ICS, install 4EXT recovery then format all partitions except sd then install the ROM of your choice.
Before installing ICS you'll need to flash GB stock from WIND, then update to ICS via either OTA or directly on the phone via OTA. Then do what I said above, let us know what happens.
yeah like dark said above me, use 4ext. it makes flashing easier.

Thanks for your help everyone. I'm a little confused about how to proceed though. I downloaded the stock Wind ruu.exe file from the forums, but I'm not sure what to do with it. I'm running Linux, so I can't execute the file. Is there any way to flash it without a Windows machine?
Also, do I need to relock my bootloader and go through the whole s-off procedure again, or can I simply downgrade to GB and upgrade back to ICS again without going through all those steps?

Once you're s-off once, you'll always be s-off unless you s-on again, to use the windows file your best option would be to use WINE. Which I figure you should be know how to use.

Thanks again for your help. I followed your instructions: Downgraded to GB, flashed the Wind ICS OTA, install 4ext recover, ran superwipe and formatted everything except the SD card, and then flashed Energy 6/6. It got past the HTC screen, but got stuck on the Energy boot animation.
Do you have any other suggestions?

I'm doing the same and I need help
I'm trying to get the latest EnergyRom. I was using the GB EnergyRom before and finally made it to the T-Mobile Stock ICS rom using fastboot instructions from here: androidforums.com/rezound-all-things-root/535820-how-easier-way-flash-ph98img-files.html using the this ruu. [bravo.d-h.st/z70?key=1340081175
Right now I don't se any S-On instructions for Energy rom, though I do see one for Android Revolution HD. I need to get CWM re-installed as that was lost. Do I need S-Off to get Energy Rom?
How do I get the latest Energry rom installed?

It's the kernel he built his rom on, so requires it to work properly.

ive read every thread and nothing seems to work...
ive done the internal and sd memory fixes but im still having a major issue, i was running clean rom de1.2 perfectly before i went and started the s-off procedure...now once i achieved s-off and i went to upgrade my rom to cleanrom de 1.3 i was getting the memory errors and reboots...went through the steps to fix the memory as i mentioned earlier and im still getting reboots when i receive txts or emails...normally id think this were a rom issue but ive tried some different roms...i thought i had the issues taken care of but now when i go to play some music it reboots plus im still getting reboots with sms and gmail...i froze gmail and have bought enough time to charge my phone to a decent ammount (have been working on this all morning), everything is current and have tried everything from wiping several times and re-installing the roms several times, all the fastboot and adb commands from the storage issues...flashed different kernels and even recoveries...i cant even stream music from my laptop and play it on the phone with out there being a reboot...i can send sms fine, it just appears to be receiving them is the issue...dont know if this is one problem or several...what information of my phone would you guys need to diagnose a problem...
im on:
Cleanrom DE 1.3 w/ 3.0.13 kernel
baseband v. 1.22.10.0310r 1.22.10.0308r
build 3.13.605.7 cl363816 release keys
hboot 2.21.2121
not sure what else to try...is there a method to getting back to bone stock so i can retry this whole thing again...im talking relocking the device and redoing all the htcdev crap/root/s-off/rom again
thank you very much in advance for any help
Sounds like youre on old firmware. Flash the old firmware patch. If it doesn't help Flash the ruu. If you're s-off no need to relock at all. You'll need to have a Ph file for recovery unless you want to unlock

I had the sd issues after s-off and I never did the editing to fix the issues all I did to fix them was reflash amon ra then reflashed my backup of cleanrom and reflashed the kernel and rebooted then let it startup and then pulled battery and then restarted the phone and everything was back to normal sd card issue fixed. Try that it might work. Oh and I took the jhboot when it asked when it asked if I wanted to install it.

youre prolly on an incompatible hboot(cant mix GB and ICS)
heres what id do:
-run the 3.13.605.07 RUU
-clear storage in hboot
-install the ics jpbear hboot,if desired
-install recovery
-fresh start cleanrom 1.3
i just did the above to go from 3.11/1.2 to 3.13/1.3 and i have absolutely no issues. its smooth, fluid,sd card is there, never rebooted.
im not supposed to relock for this am i? do i just flash in recovery like 605.1 ruu?

despite many here misusing the term ruu, a ruu is an executable file run on a PC which does quite a bit more than a rom flash. Run one of the Ruu, out wit until Verizon releases a real ruu for ics, which hopefully will be Wednesday.

Despite however exceedingly helpful once again pointing out how many people "misuse" the term RUU may be.. This did not help him solve his problem in the slightest.
OP:
In the above instructions where he says "Run RUU":
-You will need to download the full ICS leak from android police or I believe there's a link here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631630
--There are instructions on that site on how to install the RUU.
Then follow the previous poster's instructions about installing a new hboot (if you want to, it is not required)
**EDIT: You do not NEED to do this, please only do it if you know what you're doing. I have had absolutely no reason to replace my hboot and I haven't had any issues.**
Then you will need to reinstall a custom recovery.
Then you can proceed with your wiping/flashing. I remember a previous poster saying to do a factory reset after updating to the new RUU. Not sure if it's required, but I did it and I'm not having any issues.
Hope this helps!
yeah thanks again and i found that original RUU im installing now...i wouldve updated my status earlier but the download took an hour or so...everything seems fine at the moment...its currently updating /system, but i did notice it relocked my device, and i still have s-off though...so my question is, do i need to worry about being locked if ive still got s-off?
UPDATE:
ive got a fully functioning phone now...thanks everyone for the assistance and patience...this has been the most critical mod ive done to any phone...dont know where it screwed up along the way but im gonna enjoy this for a while before i tamper with it again
I've been (at least trying to) patiently wait for Deck to post full install instructions for CM10 but the CM10 op is still bare as bones. Has anyone else posted an install guide or instructions yet?
I'm currently rooted with RegawMod and running MeanRom 2.1 and it's really terribly laggy and frustrating, I can't wait any longer for CM10. Do I need S-off to install CM10 or do I just wipe, flash, and go?
Thanks for any help or links!
If you are on hboot 1.15 or higher you have to fast boot flash the kernel.
Other than that its just like a normal aosp install. Wipe flash rom flash gapps.
Its been my daily for 3 weeks.

You don't need s-off. You will however have to flash the boot IMG separately by using fastboot or the app flash image GUI and a full wipe is definitely required. There is a helpful thread in Q&A called "don't panic" that will answer all your questions

The S-OFF guide was way over my head so I just let it be. If there's not a real good reason for doing it, and I can still run CM10, then I'd rather not.
It allows you to directly flash new firmware like radios to fix any problems a device might be having. If you have Son and want the latest firmware you have to revert back to stock and accept ota, then unlock reflash recovery and reflash custom ROM or rooted stock, you could also just flash root installer if you want to just root stock

No, S-ON people with 1.12 H-boot can flash radios and firmware from recovery. They can do whatever they please in recovery just like S-OFF. S-OFF users can flash things from bootloader and even change the appearance of their h-boot to read S-ON and **locked** even though they are S-OFF
To the OP, this is the best rooting guide I've seen. It really explains everything step by step. http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-lte...panda-s-htc-dev-ltevo-root-dummies-guide.html Its recommended to have Linux at least bootable, because in the small chance the phone gets bricked... the unbricker program requires linux.
I ran it in windows before the unbricker was available, no issues here
You basically just hook the phone up to it and run the program like you do for most other root programs. All 1-click
Ah yeah forgot to mention that, most everyone is on 1.15 or 1.19 sorry

Do I need to flash updated firmware / radios separately from CM10, or does CM10 include latest firmware?
Sorry to ask dumb questions, but I do hope this thread will also be a good resource for others like me.
You don't have to flash any firmware updates. There are a few users with issues although they may be related to the ROM update and not necessarily the firmware included. I haven't really checked since I'm s on. If you want to update the radios there's an update zip here somewhere, be sure to read through everything carefully. Radios are more risky then every day flashing
Alright everyone now I need some help!
I flashed CM10 after s-off, was on stocked 1.13 rooted rom.
Now when CM10 boots up I am faced with a phone activation screen. It says something like "you will not be able to place calls or access the mobile network until the device is activated". I am unable to make calls or receive calls or access the internet. I have tried reflashing cm10 and the problem persists.
In the mean time, I will try flashing a nand backup and see where that gets me. I appreciate any and all help, and I have found no posts in the CM10 thread with a similar issue.
Update: I wiped and restored a back-up, MeanRom 2.1. Upon boot, hands-free activation ran and activated the phone and downloaded a PRL update. Everything is working fine now. Not sure if I should try CM10 again or what? Any advice?

Yes, you should be flashing the upgraded firmware. You'll see the full firmware as the very first downloadable link. Flash that

Rename the file to "PJ75IMG.zip", place on root of SD card, and boot into HBOOT to flash. Check the md5 to make sure its right. With radios you want to make sure its the correct file.

I thought that might've been the issue so I tried it both ways, didn't work either way. I'll take another shot at it tomorrow.
I know this has been posted before, but my particular circumstance after reading through many threads has not been covered (as far as i know). I normally flash A LOT of new roms because i'm a bit of a ROM junkie and am always interested in all of you wonderful developers creations. So after flashing may 1000th rom, CM10.1, many times and getting bootloops, i decided to give up and restore the fully functional CM10 I was using prior. Well, after MANY numerous ways of restoring my back up, others roms, stock OEM RUU's/Zips, and bootloader NOTHING will get my phone to get past the WHITE HTC LOGO SCREEN!!!
I at one point couldn't access or mount my internal SD, o kept getting an error message so I connected it to windows and it was recognized and windows prompted me to format the internal SD card because it was "corrupted", so I did and tried flashing again through all the above methods and STILL NOTHING. Now every time i boot into recovery, it sometimes takes 50+ seconds to load or if it does load quicker it says i'm in "safe mode" or "enable 4EXT'S ADVANCED SETTINGS". I'm sorry that this si lengthy, but i'm stumped. Can anyone help me????
When I was on evervolv all my partitions were corrupted according to 4ext. No rom would flash. The only way I was able to recover was to downgrade to an official T-Mobile GB RUU. Once I did that everything was fine and dandy again. Hopefully if you do the same it works for you.
Thank you, I am going to try this today and see if it helps. Did you just put the RUU on the root of the external SD or was it and exe file??
Thanks again for your help!!!

No the ruu should be a zip file not an exe. The ruu's I used are for T-Mobile.
Since your S-Off you should be able to do downgrade and upgrade at will. Sounds like your partitions are messed up. Also make sure your SuperCID as well.
Downgrade your amaze to a GB RUU 1.43.531.3
Check MD5 SUMS
Rename it to PH85IMG.zip
Place on your External SD CARD
Reboot phone into bootloader
Let Phone find update and apply update
Let Phone reboot
If that worked and your able to use your phone
Repeat Steps 1 - 8 and use ICS RUU 2.14.531.3 instead of the GB RUU.
You can't flash an ICS Rom if your firmware is still GB.
Also if you want to get the latest update from T-Mobile that address wifi calling and updates your Firmware and Radio for better battery life and reception follow my guide here

I am having the exact problem as OP but I am S-on, what extra steps do I need to take? Thanks for your help.
EDIT: Since I can't allegedly go backwards from JB/ICS to GB when S-on, the only solution I was able to arrive to on my own accord was to format the internal SD in 4ext. Once I did that 4ext was able to see both internal and ext sd and I was able to flash to my heart's content. I think it was a misaligned partition or something. Fortunately everything on the internal SD was backed up already but in the future is there an easier way to do this without formatting sdcard? I re-locked my phone and tried to flash the latest T-Mobile Stock ICS RUU by renaming it to PH85IMG.zip and letting the bootloader flash it but I still got stuck at the white HTC screen at boot.

ive got the same thing going on, mine is s-on boot loader unlocked. i dont have super cid. ive tried the stock ruu t-moblie gb. in boot loader it reads it but afterwards nothing. ive even tried relocking the bootloader and trying that way, that way is a little differnt. if you relock bootloader then it will force itself in fastboot every time you try to turn it on or plug usb in from your pc. but you cant get into 4ext recovery.fastboot will read that ph85img.zip. and will try to update, but it fail and say cid incorect. but if you unlock your bootloader agein then your can get back into 4ext, but then your just at square one agein. idk im sumped. if any one can help that would be a life saver.

You have 2 options here
1. check your cid version download the appropriate ruu for it I've posted a unbranded version ruu in krooks thread and run it while the bootloader is locked..
2. Go to 4ext download a FLASHABLE ROM a gb rom NOT a ruu and flash it from 4ext and turn on smart flash before doing it ...
Either way you get a working device

Still no luck in getting past the splash screen
Well it's been a while since I've posted back on this thread, but I have tried everything that was suggested and i STILL can't get the phone to boot past the HTC Splash screen. I tried flashing many different RUU zips (all renamed PH85IMG) as well as custom ROMS (gingerbread and ICS based) and nothing gets the phone to boot up! They install, but after the phone reboots it's still a no-go. I just don't know what to do anymore. The only thing i can think of is my bootloader is still unlocked, could that have anything to do with this? Like I said earlier my phone is S-ON which makes things more difficult. I'm really hopeless for a solution.
I even mounted the internal and external SD's to the computer and reformatted them. Still doesn't help. Also, my recovery, which is 4EXT, always says i'm in "safe mode" and i have to do something to put it in advanced mode? Please someone help!:crying:

Hello, I desperately would like to see how to put my HTC Amaze back to stock. A couple of months ago I tried putting it back to stock because the energy rom kept rebooting on me and draining my battery life randomly. Anyways I was not successful and so I just kept the rom and the rebooting problems stopped anyways. Now, its happening again and I would really love for some one to help me get it back to stock so I can see if it improves and maybe get the thing S-OFF later. I am with Wind mobile.
Any help is greatly appreciated,
A frustrated amaze user.

Hey thanks for the response. So I locked the bootloader and then got the wind RUU renamed it as PH85img.zip or w/e its supposed to be. And now when in the boot screen it cannot find my file I then tried another RUU but this time is used the exe wind one but that one failed as well and came up as an error saying the hboot version is older then what im flashing or something?
So I am stuck at this point. Do you know how to get around this?
Make sure the ruu is on the root of the sd card

Yeah it was connected via usb. I got somewhere, now but im am hoping you can tell me what i need to do now. I followed the second post here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2167596 and now I have GB rom on my phone running unlocked. What do I need to do from here so I can S-off and super CID? PS I tried doing an OTA update from the phone and it wont work.
Looking into the S-off guide it says i must be on a stock RUU. is the one i got install a stock RUU. Also my hboot version is 1.93.0002 (Mar 15 2012) which is ice cream sandwich according to the Unlimited.IO site, but the RUU im on is definitely gingerbread. What can I do about this?

am I completely screwed now? Cause it seems i wont be able to get S-off or CID off while not on this unsigned rom (t-mobile), i am with Wind. The OTA does not work while on the phone (settings > software update). Would locking my bootloader and then loading the latest OTA zip from wind on the SD card work? I am very stuck!

well choice is yours your android version says GB hboot says ICS :/ i say try the GB s-off tool but do at your own risk...
well S-Off worked so thats good haha. Now i am trying to super CID. However, when uploading the proper hboot for doing so it wont let me because of the CID.
Ignore that last post. I figured it out so all is good. Now here is another question, should i flash CM10.1 or your rom that viper one? How would I go about flashing a rom. I remembered before you would just go into recovery and then format all execpt sd card and then install from zip. I tried that with the CM10.1 rom and when I rebooted it did not work.
went ahead and tried installing the Viper rom and after i reboot (when it said all was good) it show a black screen with green arrows. And its stuck on that. I do not know what to do now. Because I should have everything open. Was I supposed to flash something after doing the S-OFF?
This is what I am getting stuck on. I tried another rom too, same thing. I can boot into 4ext. But cant get past this on boot up.

So I'm currently on Flyhalf's CM10.1 (S-ON), and I checked the recommended firmware/radios for the ROM and realized I'm outdated. It calls for Hboot 2.26 and radio 2.23.10.0123r, 2.23.10.0124r. but I'm on 2.25 and 1.22.10.0421r/1.22.10.0424r. I just updated to the latest version of the rom and I keep getting random bootlooping as well as the rom being way more unstable than the previous build I was on for about 4 months.
So, I'm trying to use Wildhorse's guide to updating firmware through RUU in hopes that it will solve my problems and it just plain isn't working. I've put the RUU in my external SD as PH98IMG, waited for my battery to charge to 90%, shut off the phone, pulled the battery, then gone into Hboot to flash it but I keep getting "No Image or Wrong Image" and it just goes back to the main Hboot screen every single time. Can anyone explain to me why this is happening even though I'm following everybody's directions exactly? I've been searching through the forums for about 2 hours now and I can't get an answer.
I'm still kind of new to HTC devices and how they work, so if anyone could help me figure this out I'd be very thankful.

You are on a leaked firmware, the currently available RUUs are all older than that, and you can't go back when you are S-ON. You need to S-OFF then you can RUU back to 3.14.605.12 and then OTA back up to the current 4.5.605.14

Okay, I was really hoping that wasn't the case. I hate to ask for more help, but I don't really understand how I'm supposed to get S-Off when I need to be on the stock RUU to do it, and I can't get on the stock RUU because I need to be S-Off to do so...
I hope I'm not stuck this way. Technically I'm on all the same software as I was yesterday, but now I'm getting random reboots all the time as well as bootloops that either go on for ten minutes or never end. I was on a build of CM10.1 from may with Amon Ra recovery, then tried to flash the newest TWRP that requires the new firmware (didn't realize I was on older firmware) and it bricked my phone. So I put on an older CWM recovery, tried to backup and it froze in the middle of every backup it tried to make. Put on an old TWRP, backups worked, so I flashed the newest version of CM10.1 (again not knowing I didn't have newest firmware) and that's when the bootlooping/rebooting started. I recovered to the old version of CM10.1 and the issue didn't go away, so now I'm just trying to figure out what I can do to get my phone in a usable state again.

Hey, wait a sec...
My bad, I just double checked, and with that Hboot/radio combination you are on stock ICS firmware already! Just RUU version 3.14.605.12, that should work without issues if done correctly and you should be back to pure ICS and can then allow the OTA to upgrade you in a few steps to 4.5.605.14

Oh, thank god. Hahah. I didn't remember ever flashing any leaked firmware before, so I was kind of confused there. I figured I may have done it somewhere in the unlocking/rooting process and just couldnt remember. Okay, thanks again for the help. RUU's have always confused me with the way they work. I should be stable in no time hopefully.
And now I'm having more issues... I can't use the Rom Updater because somethings wrong with my usb connection. I can plug it in and transfer files and such, but trying to use any ADB commands results in "Device not found" and the Rom Updater says it can't connect to my device either. My HTC Drivers are up to date, so I'm not sure why this is happening. Is there any way I can just get the PH98IMG.zip for 3.14.605.12 instead of having to use the RUU?
Not really sure what you are trying to run, I didn't think there was a 3.14.605.12 executable RUU, but use this page and instructions and grab the file: http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...cream-sandwich-ruu-for-final-ota-3-14-605-12/
Remember you will need to RELOCK the bootloader if I am not mistaken it is possible to hard brick if you don't!
Then copy to external SD card, name the file PH98IMG.zip (beware of the Windows "double zip" issue), verify MD5 on the SDcard, then reboot into hboot and go. Do it twice!!! Let it boot up and sit for about 10 minutes to calm down, then remove the PH98IMG.zip file from the SD card. Everything should be smooth sailing from there...
You should then be S-ON, completely stock. You will need to unlock again to do anything more

Strange, re-locking the bootloader was all I needed to get the RUU to update in my bootloader. No one else said to do that in any of the instructions, but I did it and immediately it started updating with the PH98IMG that I was originally trying to flash (from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38527788&postcount=745&nocache=1&z=1965375486761331).
I'm back to stock now, but firmware is 4.03.605.2, not 4.03.605.14. Is that going to be an issue or can I go right ahead with re-unlocking the bootloader and flashing recovery/roms?

Well, I have some good news and bad news...
Bad news is you are now on a leaked firmware and will have to S-OFF to go up or down in versions unless a full RUU is released for the current OTA of 4.5.605.14...
Good news is you are the global leak, and you can use the JuopunutBear S-OFF exploit from http://unlimited.io/index.htm just as if you were on the original ICS release. Also, you can S-OFF and use most ROMs and recoveries as you are now on a global mode firmware.

Lol, all right, I would have tried to get the right firmware on there but my phone got so buggy that it wouldn't even boot into the rom anymore. So I couldn't get it on the SD card and I had to make do with what I had on there. At this point, I'm just glad the phone is usable again and I might leave it stock for a while. Thank you so much for all your help, I couldn't have figured this out without you!

That firmware is actually pretty decent and rock solid stable, you shouldn't have any more software related issues... Plus you can root/ROM like normal from that version, the radios may be slightler lower than most recommended versions, but they should work fine. If you do decide to go the ROM route again, I would suggest going S-OFF before starting, it will just make it easier in the long run.
Hey, just wanted to ask some questions as a follow-up since this seems to be the most relevant (and active) thread to my issue:
Long story short, got a new (to me) Rezound. It was running CM10, from the forthnightly thread. New SIM card from Verizon and I was getting data, but the no mobile network found error. After reading the threads I could find on the error, went with the suggestion of a wipe and so I did. A few too many beers while reading thru the forums, and I did the wipe a bit too thoroughly. Now I have a no OS found, and instead of thinking I know what I'm doing I'd like to ask to make sure I understand this correctly.
Currently, the phone is S-OFF, with TWRP 2.5.0.0. It's saying I'm not rooted, but then again no OS to be rooted. The dump from my bootloader is as follows:
*** TAMPERED ***
*** LOCKED ***
VIGOR PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-2.28.0000
RADIO-2.23.10.0123r/2.23.10.0124r
OpenDSP-v14.6.0.7708.00.0507

After checking this thread and this one here it looks like the following applies:
* I can just run the regular RUU (executable) to load a stock image without having to revert back to S-ON first.
* I will have to re-unlock the bootloader thru htcdev after RUUing
* I'll need to reinstall TWRP
Is this right? Am I missing anything?

Okay, that's good to know. For now though, if I just wanted to get my phone working, make sure there's not a SIM issue and such I could go back to a stock image without worrying? I just would rather do a lot more reading and make sure I understand what I'm doing before I try to put a rom on and screw things up further.

No doubt its good to be cautious when you are s-off. If you are just wanting plain jane stock then you could just flash a ruu from boot loader.

Okay, so if I go with the image here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38527788&postcount=745&nocache=1&z=1965375486761331
Would I still need to relock the bootloader since I'm S-OFF or can I just flash that from TWRP and go from there?

Honestly I don't remember if you would have to relock to flash that in boot loader sine you are s-off, but I do know it won't flash from recovery

Recovery as in HBoot or TWRP? Because I still have TWRP. I can get the windows executable RUU for ICS if need be.

S-off is S-off... installing a RUU wont change that, it may set you back to 'Locked", but you are S-off so it doesn't matter, you can stay locked&s-off and its no different than unlocked/S-off.
If you are going back to stock and are S-off I would use the Global Mode Leak (4.3.605.2) available on AndroidPolice and flash in Hboot... rename file to PH98IMG.zip and place in root of SD card (how it gets there is a irrelevant) then reboot into Hboot, confirm and wait.
