hi i have selected the option to take a screen shot from my settings by swiping my palm but it wont capture a screen shot does any one know what i am doing wrong or can help me?
It takes a bit of practice and doesn't always work for me.
Put your palm perpendicular to the screen with your pinkie touching the edge of the left wide side of the screen and slowly slide your hand across. Try it a few times and it'll probably work. If not there's always home + power.

Hi,
it took me also some time to get it. But you have to slightly touch the screen and then go from one side to the other.
Here is a short description and 2 videos of both methods (palm and home/power button):

it dose not want to work for no reason bro.
If you really need to get it done and got adb on your computer you can use this command: /sbin/screenshot /sdcard/pictures/sgs3screenshot.png
Its more of a karate chop, right to left than a palm
It works well for me. Make sure it is enabled in your settings first of all.
The way it works is not by touching the edges of the screen when swiping, it's just by swiping your palm on the screen. It will detect a large mass moving across the screen and capture the image.
Make sure you swipe horizontally in accordance with the device's orientation.

Hi,
I need to change the orientation of the PIN keyboard from landscape to portrait. When i drive i cannot unlock the phone with one hand. My hand is big enough for the streak since since I'm 6.2" with really big hands but the way the keypad is set in the lock screen is impossible for me to do it with one hand. The numbers are way to small and sideways. I need a lock screen like the iphone. This is the only problem i have with this phone.
I have tried lockbot and some other apps but as soon as you press the home button it takes you to the home page so not much security there.
I have heard somewhere that there is a setting in some system file that has the orientation lockscreen=1 or something like that. Maybe if this is set to 0 it will change to portrait but i have no idea how to find this. If someone could look into this it would be cool.
Any ideas? Please help me with this one.
Hit the menu button, Settings, Location and Security, set up lock screen, and then click on pattern. Much easier than a pin numberand you can use one hand. Although note that you will make the pattern in portrait mode, the unlock screen is in landscape so it gets rotated.

I am also looking how to change the orientation when in portrait mode.
I would actually like to flip it. I am using a business card holder as a "dock" for my phone at work, but to plug it in, I have the cable on top. When unlocked it looks fine in landscape, but if I leave it locked, it is upside down. I'll probably just end up trying to cut a hole out of the bottom of the card holder instead, but I don't know if that will look very good, or even be useful, since the cord will make the phone sit almost a half inch higher.
This is really bugging me. I can't believe Dell let this latest 318 version go out the door with a lock screen like this. If they fixed this it would be perfect release.
Has anyone found a way to change the lock screen orientation or replace the entire screen itself to another version, something to make it easier to unlock the device?
Perfect release? Are you kidding? There is nothing even remotely CLOSE about ANY of the dell releases being perfect. Have you not read the numerous threads about all the bugs from various users...
It's barely even decent.

Ok I noticed this little issue with the touch screen.
Maybe this is how it is meant to work but just wondering if its the same for everyone.
Basically when you first touch the screen and then move your finger in tiny movements back and forward like 2-3 pixels distance the screen just recognises your initial place you touched. It doesnt recognise the little movements. You have to make a bigger movement with your finger and then the screen starts recognising these tiny movements.
Its like its been set up with software to only track your finger if it moves a minimum distance. If this distance is not met then keep the original place where the screen was touched.
Best way to see this is get a multitouch test app from the market. Basically just one that gives you a dot under your finger when you touch the screen.
Touch the screen and move your finger in tiny movements back and forward. Like really tiny (2-3 pixels in distance)
Does the dot move or does it stay there like its stuck ?
Then you have to make a bigger movement with your finder before the dot starts moving. But after that you can do those tiny movements you did before and the dot moves.
Hope someone understands what i'm saying.
My old phone didnt do that.
Someone try this please
What about touch screen settings are their any ??

Same result for me, very small movements of the finger are not registred...
I think the touch screen driver needs work or calibration, see other posts regarding screen sensitivity, screen doesnt pickup light touches sometimes, sometimes I have to make a defined press on the screen for it to work. I have decided I dont mind this now as it is less likely to pickup accidental presses but I still think it is a little under sensitive.
The thing is if you make a big movement and then with your finger still held on the screen make little small movements it recognises them. Its only when you first touch the screen it doesnt recognise the small movements.

Maybe for typing etc so you dont accidently hit another key.
Anyone else able to confirm ? See if it detects tiny movements when you first touch the screen, and then move your finger around for a bit and then try tiny movements it should work then

Yup, definitely not a bug IMHO - just tried while playing angry birds and it nails it to the half pixel - there's nothing wrong with the hardware. I find the lack of registration of small touches a major plus, I suppose they should add a menu to disable it for those who don't like it

I know exactly what you're talking about.
Here is a test for all of you, go onto a webpage, view it at it's native resolution, which will be bigger than your screen res.
1) Drag the screen at 180 angle directly horizontally, say to the right do this slowly and move the screen a bit.
2) Now try scrolling the screen upwards or downward, slowly and carefully without taking your finger off the screen.
3) you should find that the screen is now not responding to your careful touch to scroll in a different direction you originally was scrolling.
4) given that you seem to be locked into scrolling left or right only, drag fast and long distance either upwards or downwards (or diagonally)
5) hey presto, you can now scroll in any direction again with movements as small as you like
Its weird on angry birds, it detects these really small movements.
But on Nova HD for dragging the camera it doesnt detect these really small movements.
However if you make a big movement it then will detect the really small movements as long as you don't take your finger off the screen or you have to start over again.
Another way to see this, is on the lock screen.
Touch the lock image wait a few seconds then move your finger like 2 pixels left and right (really small amount).
The lock image won't move at all. However if you then make a big movement so the lock image starts moving (and keeping your finger still on the screen) then move your finger 2 pixels left and right it moves.
Touch the image and wait a few seconds , then move your finger
Seems like its something to do with software. Not sure how angry birds manages to avoid it.
I reckon it can be patched so it doesnt act like this. I wouldnt have a clue how to do it tho. Someone might tho
Anyone tried it on the lock screen? Same thing ?

Its annoying when playing nova hd trying to move the crosshair
Hello guys
I m suffering with my one x+ media link.every time when I m on conversation don't know how htc media link activates and start playing in built media link support video .its kinda annoying.how to get rid of this stupid auto enable.
I tired many ways to reproduce the same but couldn't succeed.tried to hide sensor with palm, tried on board soft keys ...but no way
All it is happening during conversion for both voip n gsm call
I have that same problem from time to time. I believe that you can open the media link app with a 3 finger swipe from top to bottom of the screen. That being said when I use my phone I constantly have to reposition it on my ear/face because the earpiece is only on the left side of the phone above the sensors. I am pretty sure what is happening is that my face/cheek is sliding up and down the screen which is being confused for a 3 finger swipe hence the opening of the media link.
At least that's my best guess. Maybe try turning off the 3 finger swipe gestures in settings. I think it's under keyboard and language.
Never Die!
Thank you so much dear you solved my problem I disabled gestures feature

Upgraded to CM11, but had this on 10.2 as well. Back and home buttons are rendered inoperable depending on how NT is positioned (rotated). Really annoying and I know they aren't shorted because BACK works in one position but not the other, same issue with HOME. Anyone know of a fix?
Anybody?
you're talking about the onscreen buttons in android, right? i've never had any issues
that happen to me
I had that same problem when I change the dpi from 160 to 265 and that when it happen to me. It took me a day or two before I realized what causes It but when I change the dpi back to 160 my buttons started to work just as they did before.I hope this helps you with your fix.good luck
Well I don't know if it's your case, but this happened to me as well, and I found that I had dead zones in touchscreen exactly where on screen home and back buttons are, the only way I could use home and back buttons again was rotating the screen to upside down portrait (I could not pull down controls menu in this position since that part of screen was dead) or in landscape.
How I found out: download this app. from Google Play https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rn.yamtt, turn your tablet to landscape so on screen buttons will change positions. Open the app. and select paint tester and move your finger on the part of the screen where the on screen buttons wasn't working in portrait mode.
If you have dead zones like me, the app. won't paint the area where you are moving your finger because the touchscreen is dead in that area.
Also, my nook developed another problem after this, it won't charge, and when I plug the power cord, tablet crashes and reboots and stay in a bootloop unless I remove the cable. I'm 100% sure the cable and charger are ok, my nook suddenly started to show a lot of problems, I'll miss my nook =/
so what did you do to fix it?

Nothing since this has no fixes, part of the touchscreen is simply dead, unless a miracle happens, I even tried to restore stock nook rom, opened my tablet to check if there is a loose cable or something.
Is this happened to you in the same day you opened this thread? If your answer is yes, this sounds funny, because it's exactly the day when this small part on left bottom of the touchscreen died in my nook.
Also, somewhat my tablet started to charge again, but very slow, like USB charging, but I'm happy my nook returned to life.
No this happened many weeks before the thread. All of a sudden both home and back touches no longer worked in portrait position, but DO work in Landscape. Annoying.

Did you made the check I mentioned before? Does the back and home buttons works if put your tablet in upside down position so portrait mode will move soft buttons to the top edge?
Yes - all three DO work when I flip it upside down in portrait. Is this my workaround?

Unfortunately, you have the same problem as me - dead zone in touchscreen. Flip the tablet upside down in portrait or use in landscape are the only workaround afaik. I thought in moving the on screen buttons more to the right in a zone where the touchscreen is working, but I didn't find a way to do this, I managed to move them a little bit by adding more buttons in the bar in system settings, but the back button would still stay in the dead zone, them I switched home and back buttons positions (so home stays in the dead zone) since you can still use the tablet N button to use home function.
I have been playing around with a pencil and it recognises pretty well - I have searched all around but couldn't find where I can have a pen / styles input mode to be enabled.
I hope there is some tinkering around to be done to enable sen mode inputs - especially for messaging / emails instead of keyboard!
i don't have much to add here - just don't try the pencil thing if you're using a matte screen protector.
(i did the work for you, yes it works, also yes it leaves marks)
i have a clear screen protector - and pencil works fine. all actions work. now just looking to see if there is a way to enable stylus mode to use write mode if possible!
I don't know if it's just my Z2, but when I turned on the glove mode, the screen became so sensitive, that if I hover my finger just above the screen, It'll be registered as a touch input.
same here
I had the same issue, wondering if anyone has figured out the issue yet .

But this is the point of glove mode...
Your finger are between the glove and the phone screen. There's a gap.
