Will all carriers (spec. VZW) be shipping unlockable bootloader? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've got it preordered from verizon. There's been talk on other forums questioning whether it will indeed ship with an unlocked /unlockable bootloader from Big Red.
Anyone have any info?

TBD. Mine will go right back if not! Dont think it will be a problem. It may not be unlocked from the get go but should be unlockable.

There is a good possibility that they will, however nothing can be said until we get them.

Is your galaxy s3 network locked

I had my s3 supplied by orange UK and thought that it would probably be locked to orange although there was no branding on the box or phone.
Started looking over the net to see how I could check and found that if you enter *# 7465625# and they read off or disabled then your phone is completely unlocked.
Mine is which is a real bonus so well chuffed.
Sorry if this was already known to everyone but was new to me and thought it might be useful for some people.

Got mine direct from O2, presumed it was locked down tight but using the code you provided it shows as fully unlocked.
Bonus!
Thanks for pointing this out
Could be due to the delay just to get the phones out the networks haven't had time to put their code into Android, perhaps when they get all the preorders out future ones will.
Mine is from Affordable mobiles so I know it will not be locked
I was told that I had a version of orange software on here, although no orange apps etc. But phone was really buggy so flashed with the latest release, been really good since the.
Just pleased its not locked also, helps in the event I don't remain happy with it and decide to sell it.

It certainly looks that way! I got mine on preorder and it came unlocked, whilst other O2 folks who waited till after release got a locked phone.
I asked O2 what benefits there were for preordering with them but they didn't mention it being unlocked! In fact, they didn't mention any benefits!
Vodafone contract handset "box only" means no contract just paid £475 for handset and it's unlocked.
SIII'ed
On orange uk and its locked
Also i can't believe orange have removed the firmware update option with there bloatware
Is T-Mobile batch unlocked? If so, would it work abroad?

Got my rather wonderful Galaxy S3 on Vodafone contract.
Unfortunately that USSD code doesn't seem to work on mine.
The phone and firmware is unbranded though.
So I'm guessing its open to all networks?
Plus the phone arrived in a Samsung white box, and not a Vodafone one.

Bootloader Unlock?

I am considering unlocking my Bootloader and Maybe rooting, but I also might be switching to the black htc one in a week through att warranty center. My question is will the bootloader being unlocked affect my trade in?
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
I sent my bootloader unlocked One back to AT&T last week. Still waiting to see if they accept it and return my money or not. I doubt there will be an issue.

Please let me know what happens. I was told to wait 2-3 weeks for them to get black in stock and I kinda really want to root and run cyanosis during that 2-3 weeks.

Will do. I spoke with AT&T today and they said the phone hasn't been checked in yet and to call back on Friday.
I have exchanged Silver with unlocked BL, it was stock and not rooted, so just relocked and gave it away to Att, about two weeks now.

[Q] Is the HTC One Max on Tmobile?

I can'at get any more specific with that question. LoL!!
I've been reading online, and I think it is, though I don't see it on the website. I figured it would come to Tmo, but eh...? Doesn't seem like it.
What about an unlocked AT&T one? Well... I wouldn't get an unlocked one. I don't want the phone that badly. LoL!!
I also feel I should put this. I searched this thread for the keyword "Tmobile" and nothing showed up. Just in case someone asks. =.P
Thanks for any answers!! =.D
No not yet im waiting to see if Tmobile will get it as well. I asked a few people at Tmo stores and they have no knowledge if they will even carey the phone.

While the idea is nice, I wanted to use my Tmo Jump option. LoL!! But it's in January, so newer phones will be coming out. I think I'll just wait and see what the HTC M8 (HTC One successor) will be. Supposedly it'll be a 5-inch device, though it won't be a phablet. Hmm...
How do you get the LTE for tmobile to work on The verizon Version?

can i unlock a sprint note 3 and use it for tmobile?

can i unlock a sprint note 3 and use it for tmobile?

I did notice that the phone was activated on 12/25/2013 so chances are I wont be able to do the unlock?
I am waiting for sprint to let ting.com activate my note and let them unlock it.

yeah but its been your phone since new right? This one I bought from another owner adn dont plan on using it with sprint
Idk if it can be unlocked for domestic use. Instead of taking the chance, buy a phone that's specifically meant for your carrier. You'll get maximum performance. I think you'd regret it if you got a sprint phone hoping it would work on tmo, no matter how sweet the "deal".
Sprint wont unlock it for international use.
So its up for sale on ebay
Ya seems sprint are being very bad pricks about unlocking these phones... They have the worst customer service I have ever talked to . I am a pc tech and have to be on hold all the time. And sprint by far take the cake on customer service
T-Mobile uses GSM still right? So even if it was Un lockable the phone would only work on a CDMA network.

That's pretty cool. I must be getting old. I need a blanket for my cold feet too. Ya see, back in the day before AT&T was a big mobile carrier they were called Cingular. Cingular used an antiquated GSM network that..... zzzz

It was a joke. And Bell South/Cincinnati Bell all the other Bell's were AT&T. Cingular had no part of AT&T until AT&T bought em up. I had to sell against all of them for Sprint, so I knew all about that. Would be nice to work for Cingular back then before the buy-out. Their sales reps were making $60 commission per line on a new contract. $30 on an upgrade. Most we ever made was in the month of December $12 for a new line, $7 upgrade. Made quite a bit when one of the first Sanyo flip camera phones came out. Think I sold 35 in one day working @ a mall kiosk.
Feel bad for the sales guys who had to feed their family on commission checks bc all of the commissioned sales reps were eventually done away with. The race was over and the American dream, you could argue, went away with it...
Ahh, satire. That's how life was back around the turn of the century. Gimme a break, I'm old!
I know someone was working on internationally unlocking the device without sprint. Doesnt look like they got it yet though.

I doubt internationally unlocking is possible, due to frequency issues as far as I know.

No LTE no matter what you do, the device is CDMA period! You can not change that, so yes, you can unlock, but chances are you will get 3g only!
Sorry...
Thanks

Maybe this will help downgrade?

I've heard that some samsung folks/bestbuy folks have the keys and passwords to downgrade our bootloaders to mdk. So, would it be possible to get a nice samsung or bestbuy guy to just downgrade phones for us? Yeah...the answer is probably not... but I heard samsung itself is fine with unlocked bootloaders and it is just verizon who is just being strict about it.
Nah if that was the case it would've been pretty easy for them to make an anonymous account on here and claim that 5k bounty
