[Q] Flash back to Honeycomb from CM9 ICS - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys
I have been trying out CM9 ICS on my 7510, I think its a great rom but with a few little issues. I would like to go back to stock Honeycomb 3.2. I have the latest rom from Sammobile.
Do I just need to flash it via odin? Is there anything else I need to do first?
I have done a search on here about reverting back but couldn't find the answer I was looking for.
Thanks for any advice

Yup. Just flash through Odin. Just make sure that you don't select repartition or play with the pit file and you should be fine. I think there is also a flash guide on www.sammobile.com too.

Flash back to Honeycomb from ICS on Galaxy Tab 10.1
My device, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (P 7500), was upgraded to ICS (Android 4.0.4) through built-in auto software update of the device. Although this upgrade has introduced a few new features & functions but all those are almost fancy, not so productive. On the other hand what my device lost is the Adobe Flash Player, the geat player that I mostly depend upon. I did not know it will happen, nor it was displayed in the upgrade notification.
Now, what I want, is to revert back to original Android 3.2 (Honeycomb). Kindly let me know, where to go & how to proceed so that either, I get Adobe Flash Player for this OS, or I revert back to the original Honeycomb version on my device.
I hope there would be solution out there.
Thanks in advance plz !

Pal, I already tried but the Adobe Flash Player for this particular OS (Android 4.0.4) ICS is not available. I also tried through the browser but this particular OS is not compatible to any version of Adobe Flash Player. I thank you, however, for responding to my request

Yes, flash it via odin with pit file ! Android 4.0.4 and Android 3.2 have different partitions, so for downgrade it is obligatory.
p.s. Try not to brick your tab, flashing with pit file (repartition) is dangerous

Which custom rom to use?

I was wondering if someone can tell me for which rom to go. There seem to be many along with CM for this tablet so I am not sure which to use. The tablet comes with 2.2 loaded on mine and thats pretty useless since one of the main uses will be Skype. But I have read that it can be upgraded to 2.3 which support switching cameras so it will be useful with skype.
Thats what I want from the rom too at least. Just be able to work with skype. Can anyone suggest me a rom to use or should I just stay on the official rom after upgraded and just root it?

Hi It would have been better to know if you were using an USA or INTL device, but this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1623529 supports both so make sure that when you choose to download one you choose the right one, also this ROM is based on 2.3.7 i think hope this helps

I thing that kies will update it to 2.3 when you connect it..if it dont then go for some 2.3 roms on forum..they are only fully fuctional..4.0 dont have camera working.

Thank you very much for the replies The phone is a european one (I think) build number is FROYO.XXKD6. So I should stick to 2.3 for now I guess. Thanks again for the help guys!
It would also help if you told us whether you had the 4.0 or 5.0 version of the player as ROMs are dependent on which player you have and whether there international or US versions.

you just assumed he had a 5.0? really should of asked what version of the players he has before suggesting something that could brick his device if its not for his version.
The Model is YP-G70CW/EUR so it should be european and its the 5 inch one. Sorry I did not include the information before.

Any rom developed for GPS 5.0 should work. Just make sure you load the INT kernel.
As none of the ICS builds have the camera thing worked out yet, your best bet is to stay with GB custom roms.
I have both INT and US GPS 5.0 with Eryigit 3.5 roms. It's smooth and stable.
Have fun with your player.
Thanks cvcduty I will go with Eryigit for starters. I do not want it to do crazy things or play any high end 3d games, afar from skype some games would be nice but I want it mainly to read and get on skype. I hope I can install the modded roms without updating it through kies first.. because no matter what I did Kies can't detect it.

You would want kies just for the drivers so your pc can detect the player when you connect it via usb. That would be the only reason you need to load kies software. If you find the right drivers by other means, you really don't need to load kies at all. Matter of fact, I have loaded custom GB roms on players straight out of the box. These players had Froyo from factory.
No need to update your player to factory GB in order to flash custom GB.
If you are having issues with kies, try uninstalling and then reinstalling. You need the driver from that app in order for Odin to detect your player. Once that is done, locate your selected rom in the "pda" area inside Odin and flash. 5 mins to flash and reboot and you are done. Your first boot might take a while so be patient.
Good luck.
For now I am looking for Odin. Lol it can't be so hard to find it since it will be in these forums. Is the latest version 1.85? Also do I have to install the Kernel too or its inside the modded rom? Do I just run odin and choose the rom and install?

there may be newer but 1.85 is KNOWN to work without issue, so best to use it.
It worked like a charm! Very smooth and fast rooting, Odin seems like a great tool to use although the part of having to use certain versions of it for certain devices is a bit complicated. After searching a bit around I understand what you mean that later version might not work as well.
Well I will be sticking to Erygit probably until an ICS rom with camera support appears, if it will. Thanks again everyone for all the help

Hi.
to all: go to this address and follow the instructions:

then install samsung apps or a launcher or everything else...
I've flashed it myself several times till now(I've bought my tab nearly a week ago and have almost boomed it)
if you have the same prob again tell me to upload some videos...

If ur loking for stable HC3.2 try Overcome 10.1 Series. Most stable for 3G GTab but removes too much from TouchWiz.
I would personally recommend GALAXY TASK 14 or Clean ROM 2.0 but only if u have WiFi only GTab.

but why there is no updates?
If you mean updates for android os,Ice cream sandwich and jelly bean have already been released(ICS without camera and JB without anything right now...).
I recommend only ICS CM nightly if you ever want to flash...
I rely on the tab to take pics a lot, so I cant afford to lose the camera. Clean ROM's developer seems to have moved on to another device, so I think I'm gonna go with Task. Thanks!

In order to install cwm touch, you have to put it in a .tar file and use odin. Or make a cwm flashable zip.

Do I flash this in CWM for the us model ? or something else , becasue it downloaded as .rar. not a .zip

First of all thanks for your effort on this great post. Indeed very useful.
I wish there would be a full recovery for 5.0 like there is for the 4.0 and the 5.0 INTL (I use the 5.0 US).
Anyway here are some helpful things you could expand your post with:
1) Firmwares
2) Kernels
3) CWMs
4) Full recovery haha
Some reference to how to use it with Odin etc. for noobs.

I'm a total noob. got my Samsung Galaxy S WiFi 5 yesterday and found a youtube video on flashing to to cyanogen 10.2 worked well, but I've lost ability to use ALL of the camera features. No video, no back camera no front camera, and can't use the flash as a light.
so, now I want to go back, but don't want to just re-flash the US stock rom as I'm worried i"ll brick it. Is there a documented n00b process for re flashing stock build?
thanks
Well it's not that hard if toy don't want to go through Odin ABMs all that, you can just flash back to a stock based ROM, not necessarily going all the way back to stock

But that isn't 'pure' stock. Its rooted and deodexed. If you're looking to fix any problems by going stock that ROM wont work. The only place AFAIK that has stock ROMs is www.sammobile.com.

Go to the developer forums, find the ROM you want to install, download the files mentioned in the first post, and the follow the instructions as given.
That said, if you are that afraid you may be better off with a 4.2 or 4.3 ROM.

I went to this thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1874086 ) but I cant find the kit kat rom for the fascinate. I tried the most recent one, but its 4.0. I still decided to get it, but it just made me get stuck in TWRP. I couldnt do anything so i had to reset my phone with odin. I followed the instructions but i eneded up in TWRP with no os, and having to reset my entire phone. What do i do to get kit kat?
What rom are you using?
I have a nandroid of CM11 and DU4.3.
When a new Kit Kat version comes out I restore my latest 4.4.2 and flash the new one to test out if the data is still wonky. If it is, I restore DU 4.3.
Currently I am on CM11 2014-02-21.

Which gapps package did you use?
The laggeness should settle down and get better after some time loading everything
Do not forget to download the gapps mentioned in the first post and flash it after you have flashed your ROM.
After that you should be able to access the playstore.

Everything works now. I fixed the play store by logging out of Google, and logging back in. I fixed the lag with NQ Mobile Booster , but i have to use it before i launch every app. Thanks for your help
Glad I could help.

oh yeah PA is known to be laggy on this phone. there's just a whole lot of code that is optimized for faster devices that.. well aren't ours, let's just put it that way.
I'm sure notta knows what he's doing but ever since the 4.1 days it's been laggy.
