[Q] Android OS Battery Drain - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

I'm on stock ics 4.0.4 for sk17i.Yesterday ,the battery level fall from 79% to 54%.And more than 50% of the drain is consumered by an app called Android OS.What shoud i do?

Unlock bootloader and install custom kernel and custom ROM. Your phone will be so fast and responsive that even you won't believe it.

this is an important issue on all stock ICS roms. it would be great if our lovely developers make a fix or something for it
does anyone know the whether the battery drain is caused by the kernel or the rom? can i solve the problem by using a custom rom on stock kernel?

My battery hold fast 48 hour.(stock ICS,root,juice defender,uninstalled crapware)

I'm really thinking into unlocking the bootloader and flashing custom ROM. The official update is nice, but I think the ROMs here will be better.

I am using KRsH kernel and I also have same problem - 52% of battery drain cause Android OS. Synchro Off, Wifi On.

Cyanogenmod is the only solution

I have the same problem. Did a full wipe and format the sd card, but after installing a few apps, there is the problem with "android os" using the most of battery. Over night in airplane mode my phone need ca. 45% of battery. Hope someone have an idea, i dont want to loose the garanty.

I had the same problem. For me, wiping all the recently used apps away did the trick. It seems to me, that the recently used apps are still working somehow in the background to ease with multi-tasking, even tough I closed them and am using a taskkilller, seems weird, but facts are facts. I went form a day and a half of light use to three and a have days of light use. By light use I mean, occasional gaming and some surfing with wifi. Hope this helps anyone!

but i cant find init.d in phone memory/system/etc. so once again, is it ok for me to flash it. i hate bootloops and that ****

If you don't have init.d folder in /system/etc/ don't flash it...
What kernel/ROM do you have?

Dont know EXACTLY yet, but I installed it and my phone working snappier, then before(its not doing anything bad). You may try it by your self.
CHEERS!
gonna try it now and let u know about my result tomorrow!
edit: can already now tell you that my bootup (reading sd-card) took longer than usual. Maybe that's just me, i have around 15gb on my sd-card and the max cap. is 16gb.
edit2: what I can experience using this for around 10minutes is that my SGA is working less smoth.
My memory card loads slower aswell on boot. But it runs way smoother and multitasking way better for me.
Sent from my GT-S5830 using XDA Premium App
I found out the reason why it went slower yesterday.
First of all, i had the "high quiality drawing" on (GO launcher option) so it reduced my performance, BUT it wasnt laggy at all with that optioned ticked before i used the script.
The second reason might be my battery, since i was calibrating it I havent charge it for awhile.
Make a system backup before doing this and you should be fine reversing it if you dont want it, i forgot to do it and i dont know another way to get it back but reinstalling my rom.
Thanks a ton
Superb this has done wonders to my phone the improvement 2X cheers
It works great on my SGA The topic should be posted in Android Development section. Thanks
What about Quadrant Standard score with and without this script? Anyone tried it?

Hi I am using a stock kph rooted and deodexed with the root cf kernel. My phones file system is now ext4 so is the second partition on SDcard which has darktremor a2sd enabled on it.
The last mod I have done is this optimization script which makes multi tasking much smoother.
Hope this has helped someone and btw I'm using cwm4, to use this script ur kernel must support unit.d.
Sent from my GT-S5830 using XDA App
Here is one I took with low battery, the script reduces performance based on how much battery u have remaining

OK, I'm using the stock KPH with the CF-Root kernel, and I'm only getting about a 1000. I don't get it.
You have to convert partition to ext4 before you can see a change in Quadrant.
Does not seem to affect quadrant scores(1600++ on stock kph cf-root) but multi-tasking a little better.
It shouldn't affect quadrant as it is memory governing. And yes multitasking became a whole lot better.

Thanks for your kind words. I have removed only 5 apps right now, Mcafee security suite and some Champions leage apps.
I had originally removed loads of bloatware but i must have removed something crucial because after flashing the ROM i couldnt use the camera key and the home softkey.... Weird eh? I will have to do lots of trial and error removing one app at a time. For now i just shared it to recieve some feedback regarding stability, speed, and battery life compared to the stock rom.

As i do not have the Mini myself I cannot guarantee that i will go further than my knowledge as of now. Its the first Rom i have made, and I want to keep a close eye on what i make. Maybe someone who has a mini can port it, and can use the Krsh Kernel. They are almost identical, only built for another device.

hi mate....... is it possible to bake rom with no bloatware at all? really tired of this se crap........but not ready to switch cyanogen yet.........thanx a lot
after a few days of use, this rom feels slow, I didn't tinker with the default overclock options, but there are some freezes, the phone seems to struggles.
It didn't feel that way with the stock rom.
I'm going to flash the stock rom back, and just get rid of the bloatware.
You should set the OC options with the OC UV beater, because the phone is set to work at 900mhz instead of 800.
Also it could be cause of the Kernel. Try stock kernel.
Update 17/12/11
Removed all bloatware, only left what is needed.
Switched to Arc Launcher.
No need to flash the new boot.img it wouldnt allow me to cook the rom without it.
hi mate . thanx a lot for developing this rom.....could you please write down step by step guide ....thanx
its on the first post.
Hows the over all performance? Is the arc homescreen much better than the active's?

Why would he, only for GTA? It works fine on stock .42 OC 1,6GHz inteks kernel. Maybe he has a corrupt version of the game.
Inteks kernel only works on stock and SE Tweaked, for MIUI use JasonSteins kernel, and believe CM7 and MIUI kernels can be swapped.
Use Inteks Kernel OC to 1.2 or 1.4Ghz
Works fine for me

Its pretty simple
The stock ROM needs Stock Kernel to run
MIUI needs its very own MIUI based Kernel to run
CyanogenMod needs its own CM based ROM
In other words it is not possible at all

how about heating up , does the phone heat up too much ? or still acceptable, i run mine @ 1.6 and kind of feel it heats up alot ! and i use too low voltage for this just 1200mv for 1.6ghz is great imho , s.e uses the same amount of voltage for the stock 1ghz !
Hmm it heat up so much thats true but when you charge batter it heat up too like oc.
And again sorry for my English
It was working fine at first, but now it lags a lot, and shuts down after 1-5 minutes of playing. I can't finish any mission anymore. I use inteks overclock to 1,4 Ghz.
Could it be because I have too much apps installed (using Link2SD)?

It's quite easy actally, all you need to have is the latest flashtool, an X10 which is on any stock firmware + kernel.
1. Just root your phone (which you have done)

It has built in recovery ( both cwm & xrec) as well as bootmanager. Depending on which version u select u can overclock/underclock processing power for performance/battery life (also MANY scaling governors on this kernel) few other nice tweaks also and it provides good battery life (also, little off topic, the boot logo is top picture) I would certainly recommend it pal.

Fantastic ROM!!!
I must say this is the one of the finest ROM.. Almost no major issues.. very stable... Lot of memory available in both system as well as RAM. I added stock Radio app to this and that works perfectly .. This tip is for FM Radio lovers... The real sad thing is sykes133 is not active here...
Two things i would say is.. All options in Rom control(AOKP) are not working... I don't care about this anyway... But I can see XLOUD option is available in sound and I can't able to enable that.. I enabled that option but if I navigate to some other option then it automatically get deselected... Anybody have any fix for this???
