so, over the past 2 weeks, the data on my phone would randomly drop out completely, then kick back in a few seconds later. it gradually got worse & decided to call verizon. beforehand, i tried the battery pull & then tried cleaning the antenna contacts(didn't work). i ended going through 5 service calls that did not go anywhere. they're supposed to call me back tomorrow & mentioned a phone exchange if the issue persists.
(btw i've been using the 2750 extended battery)
anyway, i decided to remove the extended battery & try going back to the normal for the hell of it. and that fixed the issue.... so now i just need to replace the extended battery door. i feel dumb for not trying it sooner, but also wonder why verizon never mentioned trying it.
I don't have an extender door and was having this issue. I reset the phone pulled the battery took my sim out and ad card. Put all back together and so far so good. Not sure what fixed it though.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA
I have the extended battery and while I don't have signal issues I might try soldering the contacts on the door a little to raise em up.
Also, do you use a case? That might help hold it together tighter.

If your near an lte area your phone is consistently trying to search for a signal, and when its searching it's sending information to make sure the phone is supposed to be activated on the network. That's the downfall of Long Term Evolution.

Something is making my photons screen unable to turn back on without a battery pull. Anyone else having this issue? It has happened three times in less than 24 hours.

I also keep having a feeling it has something to do with the pocket detection mode. Just happened again a few minutes ago. I'm gonna leave pocket detection off and report back tomorrow or until it happens again.
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
I've had that problem too, I can see the backlight turn on but the screen stays black. I wrote it off as a bug. It only did it once every few days, and yes I did have pocket detection enabled.
Yeah it seems like a badass feature but if it is causing a bug that annoying ill have to leave it off :/

Factory reset did not fix my issue.
Still happening no matter if pocket detection on or off.
Happen to me once every 2-3 days.
So its probably a software issue bc the button does work. Wonder if this is occurring on alien or homebase

I'm on homebase and haven't had this issue. But I also didn't have it on the stock photon either? Perhaps it's like the OTA update failing for some and not others. I remember reading some people on stock failing and some being able to do it. So I'm not totally sure......But that's something to ponder on.

DWake014 ,
Did you get this phone recently?
This is a known issue with some phones that went out with a corrupt firmware from Motorola. There is no patch that can fix the firmware from Sprint as of now. I needed to return mine for an exchange. Sprint explained that when it gets to the area on the firmware that is corrupt, as a safety mode it basically freezes the phone and cut the power. That's why it takes a battery pull to restart the phone. There was a large batch released with this bug. I have gone through 4 Photons to get my current one with no freezing issues. I would suggest not going to the same store if possible so you get a different lot # on the replacement phone. Good luck and get that exchanged asap. Peace
My biggest concern is that I got it off of ebay... I know I can bs them and go around the question likes it none of their business but do you think they will hassle me?
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
If you have an account and a phone with issues they should replace it. As long as you take it to a tech center. That MAY work.
Sent from my Photon via XDA
Yeah its still a sprint sold phone and I have the protection plan on my account. Shouldn't be too many questions asked. Btw put the leaked sbf on last night and it has been going without any screen of death. I have been shaking it around and putting it down in its front and back and it hasn't done anything. Will keep this updated if it happens again
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
If you have the plan you should be fine. I got my Evo from Radio Shack and Sprint covered it. As for the SBF. I haven't flashed the new one. So not sure about it. But I haven't had the sleep of death issue either.
Sent from my Photon via XDA
You are probably fine then, about 4 hours and counting so far off the charger, longest time yet
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
I'm glad to hear it's working for you. But yeah, Sprint should take the phone in and replace it as long as it's a software issue, and they don't see you're rooted. which most techs don't care anymore anyway. And you have the insurance. Just make sure it's a repair center.
I've been struggling with weak wifi since I bought my evo near launch. Often the signal would suggest maximum strength, but still fail to provide throughput. I even tried switching to only one band instead of auto (2.5ghz), but this did not work.
I stumbled across this page http://community.sprint.com/baw/message/458225 and decided to give it a try. The basic premise of the post is that the contacts under the back cover don't make a solid connection, interfering with wifi.
I gave it a shot since it was easy. I gently pried the contact up just a bit and replaced the cover.
After one week of trials, my wifi has been solid. For me, this is what the problem seems to have been. It also worked for a close friend who was having the same issue.
If you do the fix, don't pry hard or you'll bend the tab to far. I used a needle and moved it just barely. This is not a placebo effect. According to wifi analyzer my signal has improved a great deal. Regardless, it fixed my problems. Just FYI....
And if this has been posted, sorry. I did search first but did not see a similar post.
Pine
Thanks for sharing I'll definitely give it a try

It has to be professionally soldered back to the motherboard. I had to get that done not too long ago. One broke off and it wouldn't pick up 3G nor 4G.

Only thing i could think of is you didn't solder it good enough and it's not making a connection to the motherboard or your back cover is not making a good contact. When i had one of mine reattached professionally it instantly started picking up lte and ehrpd again like a champ.

Hey guys, so I picked up a galaxy note 2 the other day and it's been great but after a few days I noticed the the vibrate had gotten louder and different sounding and I figured out that it is caused by the s-pen rattling when the phone vibrates because it feels slightly loose in the slot because i can kind of move it back and forth when it is in there and I was wondering if anyone else was having the same problem? or if not I might go swap devices at the store if I'm the only one with the issue. Thanks

I mean it doesnt like jiggle around if I shake the phone, I can just slightly move the end when its inserted in the slot. But I guess it is loose enough in there or something so that I can hear it when the phone vibrates, I think I'll head to the verizon store today then

I had this same issue on my other phone. I swapped it out due to speaker issues, and my second phone doesn't have the same issue. On my previous phone, my friend tried to jam the S-Pen back in the slot without putting it in the proper direction. Anyways, I used the S-Pen a lot initially and now barely use it. I'm wondering if those who say they have a snug s-pen fit, utilize the s-pen a lot?
Anyways, i'd take it back if you can. If it was with assurion/replacement, i'd just say deal with it because most likely it'll happen again if you use the s-pen a lot.
Im still within the first 14 days of having it so I believe I can exchange it for a new one

I'd do it then.
Usually I never buy with insurance, but with all the issues that the Note2 has I bought it this go around.
But I still think this issue will pop up again with constant S-Pen use.
Thats what I was thinking.. because it didn't start happening until after a few days of having it, in which I played around with the s pen a good amount.. but if other people dont have the issue I would rather not have it either because I text a lot and when it rattles on 60% of them it gets a bit annoying

Like I said, the people above didn't comment on their usage though of the S-pen... I barely use it now, and it is in there pretty snug. When I first got the phone before the swap, I used the pen for everything.
So I have had the issue, but on the new phone not yet. May as well do the exchange... though if you can.
Im not even sure anymore.. I used a buddies phone today and sent myself 10 texts and it didnt do it on any of them but then I had anothee friend send me 10 and it did it on 5/10 of them

Have you checked the sim card to ensure there is no dirty contacts on it or that it is inserted completely?
Also, have you tried a different Rezound battery cover? The battery cover acts as your phone's primary antenna. If something is wrong or broken about it, it may not be making the proper contacts with your phone.

those are you bluetooth, wifi, etc contacts to the antennas integrated into the back cover. If your bluetooth or wifi start dropping this might a culprit. My bluetooth is usually not functional (I'm waiting on a replacement that is backordered) but when it first started to go out, squeezing the phone together just next to the volume controls would bring it back. here's some articles about it:

The longer antenna is for LTE I believe. If you take the cover the top right side of the phone with your hand, it loses some dBm, and goes back.
