Package file is invalid & Insufficient storage available :( - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I'm on Foxhound's Revolver Ocelot ROM and I keep getting these two messages whenever I try to download anything from the Play market;
Package file is invalid & Insufficient storage available
I cannot download a single app from the Play market.
Please someone help me to resolve this, preferably without a factory reset.

Update
I've wiped cache and dalvick in recovery, but still the issue remains.
I've also wiped cache and data in Google Play Market and Download Manager, but error is still there.
Help, someone.

Try to download apps using another network connection. Sometime it many be a temporary network issue. Also try these methods http://www.thespicygadgematics.com/2011/12/fix-android-package-file-is-invalid.html

try what MyLifeRocks10 said: "go into either the /system/app/ or /data/app/ directory and delete the odex file that has the same name as the respective .apk"

I'm trying to download Sports Car Challenge and am getting the same problems.
First it was insufficient storage space, so I rebooted, same problem. Then I unmounted sdcard, app cannot be installed in default location, so I remounted sdcard now I get package file invalid.
AAARRGGHHHH !
I've tried clearing cache of google play store but no difference.
I am running standard XWLPG firmware with CF-root.

Solved. Sort of.
I've spent two days prowling the web searching for solutions for the "package file invalid" error. My problem was that maps would not restore from a backup or install from the market. I did one of everything in an attempt to solve it, I'm pretty sure. Since it looks like the cache is simply jammed up, preventing the install of large Google apps, I used a Titanium Backup filter to list all my apps that reside on the phone rather than on the SD card. I uninstalled a few of the bigger ones (actually just three of the biggest) and then went to the market to install maps. Came through without a problem. Strangely, using Titanium again I was able to restore all those apps I'd uninstalled to make room for maps. I have no idea why that worked – it seems spatially impossible – but for now, at least, problem solved. What a total hair-puller the invalid package error is.

Hi.I have a problem..
I flashed v2.5 yesterday, and when I want download app from PlayStore, It always give me a message: "Package file is Invalid" and I cant install app from SDcard. I try to reflash the ROM. BUT its still
I need help ~ THX

[Q] Market says: Insufficient Space

So here's my problem, when i try to install a huge app trought the market i got the message "Error [...] insufficient space on the device" or something like that.
I tried the EVS Market fix app, Cache Cleaner, wiping cache and dalvik-cache, but when i try to install for example "Where's my watter"(22MB) i got the error.
But this only happens with huge app, i can install any other app, i tried one of 4MB and worked fine.
I'm using Link2SD, partitioned SD card, and i got 110MB of free space on my internal memory.
And the ROM i'm using is on my signature.
Thanks in advance.
Its not abt ur internal memory...its the prob with cache..
Sry for my bad english

I had the same problem too..From what i remember, you should force close it,wipe data, wipe cache. It might solve the problem, its a bug with that market version.I searched a lot at the time i had this problem and i figured this from google forums itself

I had that same problem a while ago. I saw that wiping data and cache of market app solves the problem for a while but after a couple of days it would come back again. I did some research and found(cant put url in here): search in market for MarketFix from Felipe Aron.
It worked for me. Hope that helps you.

I already tried wiping the caches, i'll try this MarketFix from Felipe Aron, and maybe someone has the link for the market app from stock rom?
i faced the problem b4! i have no choice but to chg to another custom rom.. ><
Unistall updates
Once I faced this problem too, I uninstalled the updates and got older version of market it worked fine and it got updated again and I never had the problem again
Just clear the Market cache. Don't do any other unnecessary steps.
Already tried that @SuperAce609 and didnt worked.
Ha, it's funny...
I am having the same problem and am running Grif's CM7.1.
I have tried uninstalling the Market updates and clearing it's cache and data (didn't help)
I have tried wiping Delvik Cache from CMR and no dice there either.
Tried the Market Fix app from the market and no fix there either.
I am thinking about starting fresh and re flashing.
Any body else have any other thoughts?
You have the same issue? Only with large app's?

Yeah dude, I am having exactly the same issue. I can install smaller programs, but I just tried installing Where's my Water and I get an error saying that there is insufficient space on the device.
I still haven't figured it out yet and I think I may have eff'ed up my Android Market in the process. I uninstalled updates and tried to download Where's my Water again and while that didn't work, my market is no longer updated even after I took the freeze off.
I am getting very frustrate.
If no solution, I am going to reflash and see if I still have this problem (but going to do it on the weekend).

Google Play (Market) Error: 923 and Insufficient Space

Recently did a factory reset, then rooted and unlocked.
Since then I'm getting errors downloading apps. This seems to occur only over the wireless connection, not over Wifi. I have verified that I can access the SD-card and external SD-card. have plenty of available storage space (per Settings/Storage): 2.58 GB app, 8.43 GB internal, 29.06GB SD card. Also have a good data connection per browser/weather app use!
These are the two errors I am seeing when trying to download apps from Google Play:
"App xyz" could not be downloaded due to an error. (923)
Error downloading "App xyz". There is insufficient space on the device.
Searched to find a fix, but couldn't find a good answer. Can anyone help me?
I would flash Th3bill's full wipe @ http://www.jokersax.com/developer-pages/th3bill/809-2/ then flash your rom.
if that doesn't work, you'll have to go back to stock sbf and see if that fixed it. if OK, root... if OK, unlock. an incremental way to isolate the issue.

Dont do a full wipe just yet... Just go to settings, manage apps, click on play store, click clear data, then reboot. This will probably fix it.

It wasn't enough to clear settings, I had to do the full wipe and installing MIUI 2.6.22 fixed it.
I appreciate your the help!!
I had error 923 on my sgs3 and clearing app data resolved it.

1. under settings/apps go to google store.
2. cache and data reset.
3. update deinstall, and akzept reset to google store basic version !
4. delete googlemail account under accounts&syncronisation.
5. go to google store app, insert googlemail account new.
google store meanwhile has updated to newest version and will keep runing fine again now ! :good:
This can sometimes happen after a fresh install and gapps tries to throw every update it has logged for you at the phone. just retry after installing what sticks. usually sorts it. many phones have this issue

This helped me after using CF- Autoroot by Chainfire, on my nexus 5. Thanks man!
Possible solution
I've ran into error 923 in Google Play.
None of the above worked, and I finally managed to fix it by deleting /data/core/zcore*.zip files (2.5GB in total).
By the looks of permissions on those files, some files could be deleted without root, but not all of them.
this video fixed the problem for me.. while it's "kind of a long video" for the 2 easy steps.. it's just the 2 steps.. 'clear cache' (not sure that helped, really?)
but the 2nd step did help.. I rolled back google play to a 'older'-orginal version.. and that fixed it

The phone is not rooted. using stock everything.
Try formatting your sd card or try using another sd card.......the main problem is of storage......either your sd card cannot store it properly.....or your net connection is problematic.....because Google's server cannot be down ever...

though the error you get...is unusuall :/ at least for stock
yeah maybe yyou have problem with internet connection :S
Have u tried connecting to Wifi and then try downloading apps I had the same issue but when I tried again it was all normal
I dont think the problem is with my Internet connection. My sister has a galaxy r and if i download the same app on her phone, it installs perfectly.
I only use wifi to download apps.
Will try formatting the sdcard and tell you if that helps
try rooting it
i also have that problem before rooting on my xperia neo l. after rooting my phone, the error never appeared. thanks god

[Q] Insufficient storage space message on rooted s2

All,
I am really struggling to help my mate. I rooted his s2 and installed super nexus 4.2.2 on it a few weeks ago. Installation went fine and it works no problem but he kept getting insufficient storage space issues. I went into recovery mode and wiped the cache through there still no joy. I've searched for the wifi log file using root explorer no joy there. We have resorted to moving most of the apps to sd card and still getting issues. The thing that is frustrating me is that the storage available is nearly 16gb on the internal sd. Is there any way to edit the android system partition size as I think this would solve it?
Regards
Grant
have you tried a factory reset it may work
do you get this error while downloading apps from google play?
Yes, it started when the apps try to update. Already done a factory reset and doesn't help unfortunately. I think it could be that issue with Google play but I couldn't locate the file to delete it. Sorry I sound a bit vague but it's been a couple of weeks and my mate is totally useless when it comes to using Android other than the basic functions so it's a job trying to remember exactly what I viewed to attempt to solve it.
Cheers

1) try deleting Data/cache of 'Google play stores' and 'Google service framework' apps, then reboot ur phone and check.
2) if issue persists then remove ur 'Google a/c' then reboot ur phone and then re-login and see
Also it could be a .odex file casung the error message to appear.
To remove this, go to /data/app in file explorer and remove any .ODEX files of the apps you're trying to update/install
We have tried removing odex files and there aren't any on the phone. He tried clearing the cache and data and now gets the dreaded no connection error on play store any ideas?

[Q] SGS3: 'Insufficient storage available' error

Hey,
Having an issue with my SGS3 where I cannot install a couple of app updates. I keep getting the message 'insufficient storage available' and the updates will not go through. I have almost 3.5gb of free space on the internal memory and about the same on my SD card...
I am using the latest version of the following ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1705866&page=284
I don't have enough posts on here to post this question in there....
FWIW, the apps are Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Movies from Flixster.
I have deleted my cache, davlik cache, fixed permissions, re-booted various times etc. and nothing solved it; any ideas on what I could try?

Download Lucky Pacher APK, install and run it. It automatically deletes unused ODEX files. Those Odex files are probably the cause of your error.
You must be rootrd.

Thanks for the advice. I downloaded the latest version of the Lucky Patcher apk and it did not resolve the issue. I tried every option it gave, e.g remove all odex files etc and nothing worked.
Any other ideas...
