One of our members in the forums, datboiwizzie, received a text message via his Verizon Wireless Mobile IM app that pretty much spells out that Android 4.0.x is on it's way. With all the rumors circulating of various release dates and server issues, this latest text message looks to be official confirmation that the update is days away. We can't see Big Red sending out a text of this nature and waiting another month to push out the update, but that's just us.
We'd like to hear from the community. Has anyone else received this message?
UPDATE: We are getting reports in from members (comments) and Facebook Fans that they are receiving the same message. A Xoom user reported also reported in. We're almost there.....

Whether it's useless depends on the person reading it. I for one found it VERY helpful because I was considering flashing to a "leak" which I've been trying hard NOT to do because I want to remain stock and this helped me make a decision to at least go ahead and give them another week.

Day late and a dollar short, you could of at least explained that the text received was informing mobile IM users that the app will not be there when they get ICS, also NOWHERE is it stated in the text (some one posted a pic in the original thread here) that it will be this month, it just said SOON, don't twist your definition of a word in to a "confirmed" by end of month line.

Ummm dude, I've been following this section every since the 10 of June and I feel the same way YOU do about the rest of them, but THIS one actually helped me because others in the link got the message also and THIS time the message wasn't just another "sometime this month possibly" message, it was actually from legitimate VERIZON SERVERS which indicates that there is at least good cause to believe it will definitely be by the end of this month and no later. For me, it meant it's at least worth waiting another week, that was MY point. And that's why I said FOR ME at least it WAS helpful. I was speaking for myself

I'm not bashing sorry if it sounded that way I would just hope everyone on this forum with a Verizon razr would know by now that ICS this month or from what moto said 2nd quarter would have read about it all ready. Unless you just got your razr and never heard anything about one I could see noobs posting these topics but most of these are coming from users that have been around since before June even started! Exactly my thoughts. Motorola's development page says release in Q2. Were the Xoom release spans wrong? Well they have it now, so ours is close.

System Boot File??? I've heard a thousand things that it supposedly stands for.
But SBF is a commonly used term for a copy of the factory/stock image that your phone comes with from the factory. If you brick your phone flashing roms, themeing, etc.. You could use the SBF to recover from whatever mistake you made.
Thanks much. I had to use a factory restore file on my Galaxy Tab before it would accept the Froyo update because I had deleted some bloatware. Never heard it called an SBF.
How is any of this new news? You just repeat yourself or what has already been said in other threads.

Yeah, I went ahead and put that guy on ignore right away. I mean, sure, I was aware of all the stuff announced by the OP, but it was nice to see all of these developments in a single place just to start up a conversation.
That zeromagnet or whatever guy just has no class at all. People should put him on ignore and just not bother replying to his posts.
I had liberty on the Droid 2/X and I absolutely loved it. I really hope to see it ported to the X2 soon.
As far as themes go, I really hope to see Juicemane port his Gingercomb Juiced theme over from the Droid 2/X Liberty ROM
As far as what's considered news or not, I have been in the android world for just over a year, and I just started following many of the major developers on Twitter. So I post the new stuff I hear on twitter for those of us that aren't following the most up to date stuff.

Within the month, it should be booting but i'm being very pessimistic, 2 weeks top realistically for a bootable version not a release, i'll keep you updated

Hmm it showed up yesterday as it was protected and you cant see the tweets unless you're following. Wouldn't it just show as you can't view the page instead of it just "this page no longer exists"? I really don't use twitter much :x.

If you look at the history of this it was first claimed on Nov 21st to be successful. That is almost a month ago. Really i have stopped looking. His credibility is completely destroyed.
Really im not even convinced he is an adult. His rantings are about at the level of an 8th grader. An immature 8th grader.
I mean by All means support him. Just please stop defending him and judging xda members from having expectations. If he doesn't want trolled or bothered for his method then he shouldn't claim success and post that a release is on the way.
If you look in the evo 3d general the same drama with the same banned dev is causing the same bs as here.
And if he achieve a method that's awesome. what im saying is it has caused a huge amount of discord and bitterness here on xda and you don't put yourself out there like he has and not expect comments, critiques etc from the community.

That's funny! I got banned from the "think tank" forum last night because I questioned him about his lies lol! No big loss, I could care less about his think tank, or him at all. To be honest this is just a great phone. I do have a rooted evo 3d but I use this phone more. Battery life is my only issue but i have multiple batteries.

I've been following his progress over there for about 2-3 weeks and I keep expecting a release, but haven't seen anything that we can actually use yet. I believe he has made progress but the whole "I'll release it tomorrow" deal is getting old.
I followed a company (AngelBird) that was going to release a revolutionary PCI-E modular SSD and they pulled the same bull****, every time someone asked when it was going be released it was another empty promise (soon!, we're starting to take pre-orders now, it will be released in the next few weeks, etc...). Most of their prospective customers left and I just followed them to see how long it would take for them to release the product, they finally released it a year later and AFAIK no on has really bought it since they kept dicking around.

Fine, but then makes a forum to get "help" and says he has root tobe released tonight and nothing.

If anyone knows when ICS is coming out it is the people who search for leaks. *cough* *cough*
No sign of it very soon, but it is possible to see it in such a large given time-frame. 174 and 175 were dropped in favor of another update to 173. Then ICS should be out next, whenever they give it to Verizon for checking we should get it shortly after.
I sure you all were thinking the iphone 5 would come out and it would have LTE. I knew the truth.
P.S yes I made the 4 core phone thing up, because I knew that no one cared and no one ever asked just like I had for seen. I could tell of my "iphone "5" story. but there is no point.

what i do get is how both are basically the same phone with a few minor differences i guess. one is in the development phase and the u.s. version is still in evaluation and planning(sitting with our thumb up our ass) phase.

Motorola has released an updated list of their devices scheduled for Android 4.0! And finally, we have some confirmation that us X2 owners will get a taste of that delicious ICS. Y'all already know I got a little excited when I first posted this... I am sorry for making it sound like "Hey we are definitely getting ICS!" I saw that the X2 was still in the "Evaluation and Planning" phase of development and truth is it could go either way! So thank you for not destroying this freshie and sharing your knowledge!

As I understand it, the Milestone 3 is on the list!
I wouldn't put too much weight on the word of a company that said they'd give us unlocked bootloaders by the end of 11'.

Motorola has released an updated list of their devices scheduled for Android 4.0! And finally, we have some confirmation that us X2 owners will get a taste of that delicious ICS. ummm on the website it says in evaluation that means they are seeing if it works good this is NOT a certainty do NOT get your hopes up. Moto has effed us over before :/
Motorola can kiss my rump. I'm getting ready to order a Galaxy Nexus as my main phone. Droid x2 is a great phone but its just too locked down for me. I miss having a working rom manager. I'm a flash addict and miss being able to flash without being plugged into the charger.

Like I said in the other topic they best keep updating us at least onto more 2.3.? . This thing is still full of problems especially audio.

Thanks for the post, however, this does not guarantee that ics is coming to the Droid. Notice it is in the planning and evaluation mode. Note how other phones are listed at getting ics in the 3rd quarter of 2012.
I wouldn't hold your breath.
People, I understand how companies have to plan for releases. Believe me, I know as I am an architect and developer for a major utility company. What I expect from Motorola are constant updates, not some vague posting that sits there for months with NO updates what-so-ever. Kind of like how we were promised to have unlocked bootloaders by the 4th quarter of 2011 and it never happened. Motorola NEVER gave an update as to why this was nor if they were going to do it at a later date. Instead, dead silence and then the release of the Droid RAZR Developer Edition which costs $100 more than the MSP and no guarantee that it would be released by Verizon or other carriers. In fact, it's not schedule for release in the US for some time, which could turn out to be never.
So, don't take this update from Motorola sitting down. We MUST continue to hound them, tactfully, to release ICS for the X2 and other Motorola phones that are more than capable of running it. In addition, they MUST be made to come through on their promise to unlock the bootloader. Remember, do it with tact. As I've stated in another post, I've already filed my BBB complaint to Motorola which has been accepted by the BBB and forwarded on to Motorola, so the ball is in their court now. I suggest everyone else does the same. The more complaints, the more likely they respond, hopefully with a gesture that meets our wants and needs.

I got rid of my DX2 for an LTE GN and I haven't looked back since. The open world of bootloaders is amazing!

I'm ordering my Galaxy Nexus today. Never again will I spend money on a Motorola device.
