Hi,
I want to overclock my xperia mini pro, so i need a custom kernel, i am little confused ,that if i can custom kernel on my locked bootloader ??
Nope, custom kernels are not signed and locked bootloader allows only officially signed kernels to be installed.

So, How to unlock my mini pro's bootloader , can you please give me the link ??
Can i relock my bootloader again , is it easy and safe to relock the bootloader
Thax,
Aqib.
Yea. Easy and safe.
Just check out my friend someguyfromhell's sticky at this forum. It has all required information and links.
(just a suggestion. The main reason our phones do not perform is that they have too less RAM and lots of crapware. Overclocking will not giving performance boost as you expect, but obviously, it's cool to have more options)
Thanks,
Rick

You must first have your bootloader unlocked. Search the forum for ways on how to, there are (2) current methods being used to. When your bootloader is unlocked, download either expeacer's extended kernel or krsh v 3.0( check my sig ) and install it via fastboot mode. By following this you accomplish the ff: root your phone, install cwm and busybox. Btw, someguyfromhell has made a tut for this. Check it out.

No, so far there is no known way to root ICS 4.0.4. Downgrading is the only way if you want to keep your bootloader locked.

Second method for Bootloader unlocking is testpoint method, just search in General section.

Hello,
I've tryed serveral apps and Windows utilities to try to root my Xperia U... SuperOneClick, zergRush, z4root, Gingerbreak... everything fails...
So, I thinked about a thing... If on the X8 we were able to flash Kernels and System images using Flashtool, can we use the Flashtool to flash on the Xperia U a pre-rooted system image, to obtain root? Is it possible?
I'm with Locked BL, BL Unlock Allowed = NO, that's why i'm asking this...
Hope you can find an answer for my question, or another root method.
No you can't. Flashtool images are signed by Sony and this signature is verified on locked BL.

I think sony has already known about this method and makes a better security so we can not pass the bootloader with that method.

That sucks so bad... it means that the people who have BL Unlock Allowed = NO will most probably stuck with Stock Kernel forever...
That is why I always buy directly from Sony, that way I know the boot loader is definitely unlockable

You cannot flash kernels in locked bootloader.. And most of the mods are also there for unlocked one.. Unlocked bootloader has very few Roms.. Better unlock it and experience a whole new world for your phone
There's no different in apps or mod.
But there's rom. Most rom here are build for unlock bootloader, u can overclock and stuff.
Pretty cool but u will lose DRM keys. So no more "download music info" in walkman. All apps that need DRM keys won't work,

This and other mentioned are RESULTS of difference but where is difference ITSELF ?
WHY cant I flash any kernel except stock ?
Don't tell me "because you go brick".
It is RESULT.
I can flash stock rom and it communicates with locked BL however - I think - new stock rom has it's own management of booting.
Then - base question is NOT explained and I am really curious of answer.
Locked bootloader means it can only boot sony signed kernel
NO CUSTOM KERNEL NO ALWAYS ROOT
Unlocked means it can boot any kernel made for that device
You can always have root and have custom kernels
You can also get CM and all new features
The rom for locked bootloader can work in unlocked but vice versa is dangerous

As far as i know DRM stand for Digital rights management, so you can't download music info anymore. But there are many modded walkman apps can do that.

Yes. That I did, on older stock ROM, ST26i_11.0.A.3.28_WE. Lost root after upgrade to latest.
Downgraded, prefer have root than latest ROM however speed is about 15% higher on new ROM, must be better kernel and libraries.

why would u want to downgrade? u can have root access on every ROM even if your bootloader is locked.
So for unlocked bootloader just flash a custom kernel with "autoroot" function. Once u flashed that kernel, u will have root access after reboot.
For both locked and unlocked bootloader this tool from b1nary should also work...

As the name suggests LOCKED BOOTLOADER means the bootloader is locked and cant be accessed, so you can't install custom kernels as it is locked with the kernel by Sony itself......yes you will lose your DRM keys, you cant use trackid and the download music info which are somewhat pretty useless for me........those were such small sacrifices so you can access the vast open world of modding your phone.....hppe that helps.

I missed it. Thanx for info.
I landed here via search engine. Question was universal enough to fit anywhere.
Good day, XDA. I'd like to ask help with regards to rooting my Xperia S. I have recently bought this and it got shipped with ICS 4.0.4 and build number 6.1.A.0.45 and I updated its build number to 6.1.A.2.45. I have also unlocked its bootloader successfully. Now I'm having problems on how to root this. I've read certain posts regarding ICS rooting and they all state that it has to have 6.1.A.0.45 build number. But I don't know how to rollback to the previous build number. What should I do?? Please help..

How hard is it..? To unlock bootloader, As far as I know it can be done at Sony homepage, Whats the advantage of unlocking it and do it has any cons... already know that it means lost wariaty, and that's a risk.
