So I have had my prime since xmas now and was thinking about unlocking it but I have a few questions first for those who have unlocked it.
First thing is I'm a power user so I know the benefits and such, but is it worth it right now, or should I wait till later because the good doesn't outweigh the bad, mainly loosing OTA's and warrenty.
Are the roms out stable and reliable yet, I know back when I first looked for new roms there were issues with them especially with the dock, I use my prime a lot for note taking and such so I would need the rom to work well with my dock.
Another issue is that recovery and flashing roms was a bit sketchy, I know that there is always the chance to brick and I see now that there are some unbricking methods out now but if it's going to be an ordeal just to flash something, I have an Evo and I'm kinda a flashaholic, lol.
I know that there was an effort to find a way to unlock the prime without having to go through Asus, is that still happening or has that project been dropped?
Thanks for the information I have done a good amount of research on unlocking my prime, I just want to hear back from others in the community and get some input from them.
Thanks,
Frostbiter

Hey there,
There are lots of similar threads to this, if you search around I'm sure you can read about lots of people's opinions.
"...is it worth it right now, or should I wait till later because the good doesn't outweigh the bad, mainly loosing OTA's and warrenty."
First thing: losing OTAs is not a disadvantage, because you don't really lose anything. When new stock firmware comes out, someone posts the rom, and you can flash it. If anything, it's an advantage, because you can flash it as soon as it's out.
Second thing, the warranty: This is a good point. How long does the warranty last? A year? So if you have six months left... Well, it would suck if something broke after you unlocked the bootloader, that's for sure. IMHO, if you owned it for this long and there doesn't seem to be any defects, than I sorta doubt anything is wrong with your tablet and I think it's unlikely (but not implausible) that a component will suddenly fail you when it's still so new. I don't know how good the warranty is, but asus is supposed to have great customer service.
It's a tough call, and nobody can make the decision but you, because you have the weigh the (small) risk of something breaking that the warranty would cover with the (totally personal) benefits of new ROMs. For some people, flashing a different ROM would not even interest them. They don't care about kernels, tweaks, system themes, etc., and that's fine. Obviously, for them, the risk is not worth it.
For me, I unlocked my tablet as soon as possible. At the time, I think the only real option was Virtuous ROM, which was extremely similar to stock but without (or with, if you wanted) the bloatware and a little better performance-wise. But I just like flashing ROMs, it feels like a brand new tablet, and I like playing around with them and trying to make my tablet exactly the way I want it.
"I know that there was an effort to find a way to unlock the prime without having to go through Asus, is that still happening or has that project been dropped?"
I doubt it. Nobody that unlocked their tablet cares anymore, and all the devs unlocked a long time ago.
"Are the roms out stable and reliable yet"
Yes. I mean, some ROMs suck and some are amazing, I'm sure you know that from flashing EVO ROMs, but there are about five that blow stock asus out of the water. As far as flashing goes, anything can happen, but I never had any problems, and I flash the nightly CM9 builds every night.
If you're happy with your tablet, then I guess the smart thing is to just keep it locked, but if you're yearning to do some flashing, then I would go for it. And ASUS doesn't totally drop you or anything; they still sent me a GPS extension kit. anyway, good luck!

I'm not looking for a time frame or anything since I know those are hard to make, but I'm just wondering if anyone has a good idea on whether or not it is looking strong for the Atrix to get the bootloader bypassed(or whatever is needed for custom ROMs).
I'm asking because my contract ends next week and I'm looking to get a new phone and I'm liking the Atrix a lot since it has a dual core processor and everything, but the lack of custom ROMs is making me think again about getting it and pushing me towards looking for other phones.
I know there is currently work being done on it, but does anyone think it's highly probable that the boot loader will get cracked and allow us to install custom ROMs? Or is the result still sketchy and should I keep looking at other phones to get instead?
Honestly, the Atrix is a beast of a phone anyway. And an Android phone without a custom ROM is still the best phone on the market, especially if it's got a dual core bad boy under the hood.
On one hand, many previous Motorola phones with locked bootloaders remain locked and unbypassed to this day...HOWEVER, some have been bypassed or something similar. And considering the nature of this phone being one of Moto's flagship devices, there might be incentive to possibly unlock it themselves (doubtful, however...)
Honestly, I don't really think anyone can for certain what might happen. But if your contract up in a week, developments could happen in that time frame. There's a small chance GingerBread might come sooner than expected, which, locked bootloader or not, that'd be awesome. The sad thing is, it doesn't seem there are many more nice ATT phones on the horizon anyway, even with open bootloaders. Most of the good ones would probably be out by your next upgrade anyway!
I know I didn't have any solid answers, but I hope it helps in your decision making process! Sorry if it got you no where though!

Thanks for your input! I'm currently trying to decide between the Atrix and the Infuse 4G. I would definitely get the Galaxy S 2 if that came out in time, but I'm impatient and just can't wait any longer than I have to, so I have to pick something that's already out.
I really want the Atrix because of it's dual core, but it's locked bootloader scares me. On the other hand I really want the Infuse because it doesn't have a locked bootloader and seems like it's the next best phone, but it only has a single core processor.
What exactly would I be missing out on if I can't use any locked bootloaders? All I know about them really is that they are supposed to make phones faster as well as give you Android upgrades faster than officially. Is there anything else?
I'm pretty sure 2.3 is supposed to be coming out to the Atrix officially anyways, so I'm not TOO worried about that, but would the roms that are already available that do things like remove Motoblur and whatnot increase it's speed enough to make up for the loss of increased speed from ROMs?
The atrix is like the PS3 when it first came out. Way ahead of its time in terms of technology and power. Ive stated this before somewhere on this forum, but IMO this beast of a phone is ahead of itself, The current operating system doesn't even fully harness the power under the hood. I'm excited to see how far this phone can be pushed! Unlocked bootloader or not. Ya its fun to play with roms and all and tweak the phone, but even then those phones still look up to the atrix.
You can still Dress up user interface just not the interface itself. Which is most cases, most users of roms, flash them primarily for the look and feel of interaction with the device. Don't get me wrong, a lot of users flash these roms because of the android version and the upgrades it brings with it before the official release for their phone if at all. In the end I believe the atrix will be sticking around for a while and continue to make techy geeks like me genuinely say wow this thing is bad a**.
You don't have to worry about speed with the atrix. Its fast already. Ya stock motoblur is garbage, but thanks to some awesome DEVs we have Pseudo-Roms that make the atrix Fluid as well as fast. The main Gripe about this phone is the fact that it doesn't have GingerBread yet. I think the wait will be well worth it in the end.
Hello everyone I just bought this tavlet abd I'm loving it. are there any toots kernels roms or anything and comment on what you like the best about this amazing tablet!

The Bootloader unlock tool isnt released just yet. Asus announced it will come in february so it should be here soon. But until then there are no custom roms, but there are some kernel mods in the dev section that enable Overclock. Also check out the keyboard mod from diamondback.
What you should also know, atm this forum is full of people that are not happy with the prime and complain alot. Even though polls and numbers from ASUS show that over 80-90% are very happy customers those other 10-20% cry really loud, especially on this forum
So dont take it too seriously and enjoy your prime.

What do you mean by this?
What you should know about the tablet is it is great. The best tablet on the marker right now IMO. One thing is there are seemingly high amounts of issues but there is really no hard, reliable data on how many they effect. Sure there are numbers thrown around here and there but take them all with a grain of salt. That said it would be prudent for you to test out and use all the features you plan on using during ownership and ensure it does everything you expected. If not either look for a way to make it do what you need or take care of it how you see fit. Keeping it knowing that it doesn't do what you need and later crying about it helps noone.
I love mine and use it everyday for a plethora of things. It has exceeded my expectations of it and does more than I ever expected to do with it. It has totally replaced the need for me to carry around a full featured laptop and the battery life on it makes it superior to one for my use.
I answered your question then was silenced (post removed). Which proves my previous point.
I highly doubt anyone replacing a "full featured" laptop with a prime. Sure you can, but that would imply you didn't use the laptop to its full potential and prolly spent way more than you ever needed to on the laptop = overkill, prime = sensible. If you can justify $500 or $600 w/o the dock to begin w.
BTW, at least I didn't flame the op w "you need to learn how to read! there's a search button for a reason, blah blah blah"

I don't need the services of a fully featured laptop on the go. Reading comprehension much? I happen to be a software developer so have plenty of computers and computing power at many of my destinations and when truly on the go can get to them anywhere I have wifi. For my usage, yes it does fully replace it. You don't walk in others shoes so know absolutely nothing about their usage scenarios leaving you absolutely clueless about any judgment you make upon them.

I'm in the same position as the OP . (Just got mine yesterday). Played with Windows smartphones, but this is my first Android machine and tablet. I have a number of questions:
1)What's the difference between the unlock tool and "rooting"? I thought they were the same thing.
2) Ad-hoc network on the Prime - Reading thru posts, it seems Android doesn't recognize Ad-hoc networks. Others have made "mods" for Froyo, and others say it didn't work on Gingerbread, so I'm assuming I'd have difficulty with ICS. Does anyone have a suggestion on where to look for a workable solution for the Prime + ICS?
Ad-hoc networking (thru my Verizon TouchPro 2/Win6.5+SSK ROM) smartphone is going to be my access to the internet when away from home.
I know I can search, but since Prime is so new, most posts refer to other devices, I'm hoping someone can save me days of searching.
Thanks in advance.
I understand that unlocking your boot loader voids the warranty but what exactly does the warranty cover? And you can not relock the boot loader right?
They're using software as leverage for any hardware flaws that may occur.
Really cuts down costs considering the complaints with wifi, gps, GPS dongle etc.
Asus = Jerks
So it just covers software not hardware?
No, it covers everything and you lose any kind of support or warranty.
well that sucks thanks asus...
Against asus there bec07? At least they gave us the unlock option. Its a trade off. Either get an extended warranty or wait your year before unlock. Asus doesnt want to have to recover or replace hardware that was intentionally modified and this mod is what broke it. We were lucky enough to get the unlock tool so quickly...

its your call. you base it on how your device is performing. if everything seems to be working great and you're not pressed about warranty, then unlock. But there is no rush to unlock though. take your time in making the decision. I haven't unlocked yet just in case i ever want to send my prime in to them. But seeing these great roms out there like AOKP and WSG makes it very tempting. Along with Motley & Shaky custom kernels. There are other custom, more solid stock based roms out there also like Virtuous Prime Rom and Primalicious(just recently pulled out of xda unfortunately). we also have Cornerstone builds, EOS builds, CM9 builds & Ubuntu. Add Gummy Rom & Code Name Android(CNA) to the list also as its now available to prime. There's alot of great reasons to unlock. Just make sure you understand all the risks involved and do research on how to unlock/flash roms.
The risk does make it more fun and tempting though. If you really into modding your device. Go for it once you feel comfortable enough to do so.

I am still locked, but it's been almost 6 months now, and I haven't had a bad hardware issue yet. I will be unlocking pretty quickly here now, though. From the information I've gathered, if your Prime is good for 3 months or more, the odds of a hardware issue gets smaller with each passing week (except the camera issue... which is about the last thing that scares me)
NVFlash is really going to be nice for people in this situation...
Well Thenrz, I'm from Europe and my warranty was 2 years aka 24 months. Not only did they have no business locking the bootloader in the first place but the device has plenty of flaws on its own.

It wasn't entirely up to them (Tegra 3 and NVidia). I certainly understand your point, though. These flaws are the reason many including myself have said to wait some period of time if you didn't get a 3rd party warranty. I gave myself a 6 month windows to decide. If after I've had the tab 6 months and it's still going strong, then I am probably good to go. I have been lucky in that I've had any Wifi or S/N issues and my BT works well enough for me alongside WiFi. (Not perfect, but as I said, good enough)
It's really down to how much one wants to put a custom ROM on. I'm glad I waited until it really started to get interesting with Cornerstone. I don't think I'll make it another two weeks without opening this puppy up.
Also, if there really is hope for NVFlash, that will be a nice net to catch you if you mess up a flash or try a stock .blob. All it takes is some time and all these great devs will do what ASUS couldn't...
Nvidia has nothing to do with this, there are other tegra and tegra 3 devices out there with no such locks.
Nvidia has however, somehow managed to push tegra2 out there (everywhere) and make a very bad impression, with the performance of their SoCs.
What bothers me most is the resale value, I can sell a device with 12mo warranty care free & did that with all my previous devices...
In conclusion I dislike both Asus and nVidia but the awesome design of the transformer really limits my options...
As for custom roms I would advise against, no cornerstone build is "there" yet, I've tried them all.
I already sent the letter to ASUS support. I hope to hear something back.
Dear Asus,
I have owned many consumer electronic devices and I must say, the TF201 is hands down the WORST piece of gadget I have ever owned. Nothing about it works and the worst part is, you are reluctant to help us to make it work.
For 10 months, we, the users, have been beta testing the TF201 so that you can develop better, improved products like the 700. We paid over 500 dollars to test products for you and receive no support. We have been through numerous ANR on simple tasks such as web browsing or playing a 2D game. Seriously? Is this what we paid 500 dollars for? Not only that, every subsequent firmware update did nothing to improve the product. Yet asus hasn't done much to help the situation. You provide the users with a half baked bootloader unlock tool that doesn't work for 50% of the users (check XDA). When asked to fix the bootloader unlock tool, ASUS says they dont support unlocking the device and can't do anything about it. Asus requested users to RMA their device to fix the bootloaded issue yet when the users get it back, there had been no change. No issues were addressed. Now we are stuck with a garbage firmware from ASUS that can’t even do the simplest things right and users can't even put a custom ROM to help make our experience better.
Two days ago, you released an OTA for jellybean which failed to update for about half the existing owners. Now when we check for the update, the tablet can't find it anymore and we are stuck with the same crappy 4.0.3 firmware. The devs are going above and beyond to modify the update file so it can work for everyone (check XDA) since asus is too lazy to upload the firmware on their support/download page. I got a question for you ASUS, can you do ANYTHING right? How much do you have to suck to screw up an OTA? I have used many android products from many vendors and NONE of them had nearly as many issues as the TF201. In the dev community it is called the bastard child. Many owners simply sold it at a loss or were successful at trading it at bestbuy for something else since Asus would not support them. You have the courage to charge customer $500+ for such a garbage device yet you provide this level of support? I understand problems happen and users are willing to cope with issues. But the least you could do is support your product by providing us with a functioning bootloader unlocker so the users that are having problems with the garbage firmware can at least use a custom firmware to make it useable again. We paid for this device and we expect some level of functionality such as browsing the web for the money we paid. At the very least, you can upload the new firmware on the support page so users who are having issues downloading the firmware (because some engineers can’t even make a functioning OTA) can at least manually upgrade to 4.1.
Overall, I must say, this tablet has done nothing more than frustrating me. Every time I go to use it, something goes wrong. I hope someone reads this email and feels guilty for charging upwards of $500 to deliver such subpar device to its consumers. At the very least, check out the XDA forum for TF201 and see how much time is being spent by users to simply get a straightforward OTA. Finally, if asus can’t deliver remotely what they promised, they should leave the tablet game for companies that know how to build a decent firmware or OTA.
Sincerely,
A disappointed customer
Given their track record, they will probably ignore it. I dont expect to hear anything back.
I have the same feelings as you, but post this on their facebook page or something if you want it to make some kind of impact. Here on XDA there are what, like 2 Asus marketing employees who occasionally come by?

I already posted on their FB page. But they deleted it. So I emailed them directly. I am looking for Jony shi's email address so I can email him personally. I am pretty sure he has no clue how bad the team F'ed it up
I thought most people who had issues with the OTA had rooted their tablet and messed with it somehow. To me it seems like asus has made sure the update works for everyone who hasn't done anything to their prime and that it doesn't brick anyones tablet, and it seems many people are able to get their tablet back into a state such that they can install the update. I really don't think we could expect them to do much more.
Also I don't get why the download problems where so terrible, it's still only been two days since the first release and I think most people are able to get the update pretty quickly now.
And also note that not only did they get us jellybean quicker than most other devices, but they also fixed one of the biggest issues with the prime (ANR). The only thing I really am disappointed over is the lack of status updates leading up to the release.

This kind of attitude of being quiet and trying to figure things out by ourselves is why ASUS can get away with it. No one brings it up. TF201 is probably the worst tablet out their for android in its price range and it has been 10 months and there have been no improvements. I am not whining, I am just stating something that is unfair. No matter how much the devs try, they can't unlock the prime unless ASUS does something. And most of us dont have hours to fiddle with something like OTA that should just work. So we SHOULD bring up the issue. I think more people should contact ASUS directly until something is done because clearly we can't solve the problem.
We deserve something better than a paperweight for $500.

Although I agree with the sentiment (I too have a prime) i'm seriously fed up of coming on this forum and seeing people complain.
there are enough complaint threads already.
I am fortunate enough to have been able to unlock my device, but that in itself contains massive risks (I almost bricked mine a couple of weeks ago)
when trying to look for a solution to my partial brick, all I could find were complaint threads. even semi useful threads were full of complaints. this made the task very frustrating.
By all means complain to Asus... but PLEASE enough with these threads and all of the thread jacking that is going on.. I want rid of my prime not because of performance, but because I can't read any thread in any section of the Prime forum without having to hear the same people complaining again and again.
I'm sorry if this seems confrontational, but I have seriously had enough of it!!
P.S. OP, please change the subject of this post to something more relevant like "My complaint letter to Asus ( Yet another complaint thread)"

I think more people should contact ASUS directly until something is done because clearly we can't solve the problem.
We deserve something better than a paperweight for $500.

My point is that this post here is not that thing you claim to want. Nobody here works for asus and nobody here is looking for the opinion of the unhappy user. Its been done to death and is not an original thought.
People dont come to this site (or shouldnt) hoping the manufacturer is here to fix the problems they have.
I honestly don't know what you're trying to achieve here. First of all, this is what, the 14th thousand complaint thread OF THE DAY? We get it, you hate your device. Now be a big boy and sell the damn thing if you're so fed up with it. Second of all, if you want Asus to take your letter seriously, or read it without groaning like I did, don't use phrases like "how much do you have to suck" or "crappy, garbage firmware". If you expect Asus to respond professionally, I'd start by not sounding like a 12 year old boy that had his toy broken.
Jellybean's been out 2 days. TWO WHOPPING DAYS. If you can't access the update now I'd suggest you wait a week or two, because evidently you're not the only Prime user in the world. There are plenty of people who are also attempting to update their device, and mind I point out that many have gotten the new firmware and are quite happy with the result. There's no need to throw a fit simply because you weren't among the firsts in line.
Finally, don't complain about not being able to put custom ROMs on your device. That's not Asus' problem. We all know that unlocking the bootloader and flashing custom ROMs void the warranty. No one forced you to do it, and if you did it and borked your device, Asus has no obligation to fix it for you. I fully understand the risks of tampering with the firmware, and if tomorrow I flashed something new and bricked my Prime, I wouldn't go running to Asus and demand an answer.
I have my fair share of problems with the Prime, trust me. But this forum has brought whining to a whole new level.
sorry fellas i have to agree with op. and im not hatin on asus. i have a nexus seven and two high end asus laptops (though the keyboards are absolute ****) which i love. the prime is the biggest piece of **** ever sold to the american public. i mean really? you bottleneck the device by having horribly slow storage? and a device that is only wifi with **** wifi?
i took mine back to best buy today and recieved a 538 dollar credit. so it was made right by best buy. praise baby jesus that POS is gone and i didnt take a loss.
I wish i could get my money back for this POS from gamestop or asus. I shouldnt have to sell it for a loss because of asuses broken promises and lack of competence.

I don't get it. While I do understand that Prime XDA forum is nothing but complaints (I wonder why...), you also have an option to not read any of them. But you continue to reply to majority of them... mock the individual... and say "blah blah blah"... just as useless as many other complaint threads as you put it.
And really?? Gary Key doesn't work for Asus? Asus_Tien doesn't work for Asus??
Same for my.deleate mesage and user....

I actually do agree with whycali... we have too many thread complaining about the device... what is the point? does the number of threads make a difference to Asus?... if you have problems with the device, that's really bad luck, but use an existing thread instead of creating a new one... I rarely read these thread of complaints, but it's becoming really hard to find useful threads...

I agree... I almost didn't buy my prime because of all the negative things that have been said here. Thankfully I decided to make up my own mind and im glad i did. Best thing i have bought myself in awhile.
Thankfully im reporting non of the issue's that everyone else has been. maybe im Lucky or people are just blowing things out of proportion. Ive been using ASUS products for years and Ive never had problems with any of their products.... can't believe that their build quality has went down that much since the last computer i built which is still running fine today.

Yes, I love this device... I've had no problems with anything so far... and it's the best device I've purchased...
I don't think their build quality has really gone down... cuz like you I've been using Asus products for a while...maybe it's just one of those devices.... something that every company faces...

Well as long as mine works perfectly it doesn't matter what anybody says.... just sad that i come on here to discuss what people are doing with their tabs and what cool things are being done and all i see is negativity.
out of every forum here on xda ive looked at this one for the prime seems to be the worst.
I get that the prime is not perfect and has its flaws, but what i really don't get is why people are upset about OTA problem^^
OTA's are supposed to work for stock devices, if you do stuff like rooting and modding you should be aware that OTAs might not work anymore. Yes even rooting and installing busybox will modify your system and may cause OTA problems.
I personally have no problems with my prime. Happy user since last January. And now it has jellay bean! <3 loving it so far

Although I agree with the sentiment (I too have a prime) i'm seriously fed up of coming on this forum and seeing people complain.
there are enough complaint threads already.

I'm personally fed up with people being fed up at seeing so many complaint threads. Be mad at Asus for selling us a crappy product and not supporting it. This product deserves to have an XDA thread chock full of complaint threads to remind people who see them what a garbage company Asus is.
Came across my old files from when I used to build for this device. Doesn't seem that it's been over nearly 5 years since I've had a release on this device. Saddens me, as I still have my old Motorola Photon. It's the one phone I will never sell. It's still the first Android device I owned and it's the first time I ever tried my hand at any sort of computer programming. I have so many fond memories of this device and it's userbase. We truly had the best crew around...with @Jokersax11, Spleef, Lokifish Marz, and I all working to bring the latest and greatest to this device that Motorola so quickly dumped with no future support. We did our very best and brought some kick ass things that most people hadn't considered before (Project Sink being one of them). This was something I poured 30+ hours every week into and I LOVED IT.
Back in 2012/13 when we rocked this device, this was THE BEST userbase. Users knew how to READ, wanted to LEARN, and didn't expect us to spoon feed them. In many ways, it was the epitome of all that was wonderful with Android....and it saddens me to see what it has become. I sit on threads and consider a return for years now (I've dabbled on the M7, M8, Note 4, and G4, but never worked like I did back then), and see all the bickering...the squabbling....the lack of effort on the part of the users, and it makes me just say "forget it". It's become like reality television with people wanting everyone to just give them something without requiring a bit of effort on their part and with virtually NO understanding of the processes they're doing, as all they do is input some pre-printed instructions. And when something goes wrong? Well, it's demand a fix time as if the hobby that this is to most devs is actually their JOB.
I want to say a sincere THANK YOU to everyone who helped me along the way in my journey that was the Motorola Photon....to all the users who provided logs and tested ROMs for me and provided feedback, I say that you all are a part of my life....you all put faith in a guy who had little computer knowledge when he started but had a thirst to figure it out and for that I appreciate each and every one of you. To all the devs who worked with me on this wonderful little device and have largely walked away due to how Android (and XDA) have become over the years, I say that the Android world was better when you were in it. Users who didn't get the benefit of using your work truly have no idea what they are missing.
Yes, I just upgraded to the S8....I love my brand new shiny device, but it will never be irreplaceable like the MoPho. Who knows....maybe I'll try to find some source for an old version of CM and build a ROM for this sometime....never know. Till then, Thanks again everyone!
thank you
thanks for all you did. i wouldn't mind reviving the old MoPho. looking forward to whatever comes .
thanks again
Thank you
Ready and waiting, in case you come back and make something new... Love this little phone!
I would love to find a way to unlock the bootloader on the Electrify. The design of this phone is so incredible, and I hate that it is stuck on Gingerbread.
just popped back into the forums and saw this post. I totally agree with you! This group of people was AWESOME!!! I've really taken a more hands off approach since this device, not that i did any dev work like you guys. I miss the days of commenting and downloading the latest build and seeing what was broke and what wasn't. All the new phones are not even close to what this was back in the day.
That being said, my Essential Phone arrives Monday, see how that goes
sidenote, just activated my MoPho!!!

Depending on HOW your Electrify got 2.3.5, it might still be capable of being unlocked. If you took the OTA, it's done. However, if it came factory loaded with 2.3.5, you could still use the unlocking tools. I have an Electrify that is sitting on my desk as an overgrown clock that is rooted with CWM. (I left it in the car-mount stuck to a piece of glass)

As far as I know, the device came with 2.3.5 from the factory. I am not 100% certain though. I tried everything I could find online to unlock the bootloader, but to no avail. Do you think you can point me to a guide on how you unlocked yours?
Ahh, I just logged into this forum today for some odd reason. I bounced down from the HTCU11 to the 10 to try out android 10 and in my moment of nostalgia pulled out the old photon. It sill streams winamp to my bluetooth and I need to resync it to my plex server, but that is indeed actually the first phone i rooted although it had the locked bootloader version due to my expedient install of motorola updates. I remember those days....
Thanks for all the fun times back then and the experimentation that had begun and continues today in many aspects the same but in many different.
