Hey guys, is there a way to get the drop down menu while using the web browser ? Sometimes I can access the drop down while browsing but not all the time. Also , any way to get tabs like chrome to appear on the internet browser ? Please let me know
Thanks guys,
Steven
Its a new thing for the HTC browser they implemented.
You're supposed to see the menu bars you desire when you pull the page down. (or is it up? Its one way, not the other)
You can kind of get around this by going into settings > then lab > and try out the edge of the screen menu thingie.
I know thats all vague, but its there. Go check it out. It enables you to touch and hold the very edge of the browser window and it brings up a splash of options that are the ones you're seeking.
Edit: it's not just touching and hold the edge that brings it up. It's the very edge. Actually diabolical. I prefer HTC browser over chrome on android.

Update: Wow I'm an idiot. There's an icon right on the address bar that opens the exact window I'm thinking of. In my defense, I don't think I used to have to access it this way. I seem to recall there being a menu option. Who knows. I bricked my G1 so I can't go look.
On my G1 I could long-press on the Back button and get my browser history. I've read elsewhere that this is the case on other phones. This is mysteriously missing from the Vibrant. Plus there used to be a menu option to see it. I can find no way to access the history using the "Web" app. There is a button in settings to clear the History, but what's the point if no one can ever see it?
Same with Bookmarks. I can create bookmarks, but there don't appear anywhere! The button that normally shows bookmarks (if I recall correctly) is now an "Add RSS Feeds" button. The only way I've been able to access bookmarks is by creating a shortcut on my home screen. That's pretty ridiculous.
I seem to remember bookmarks, history, and possibly the open window list all being in one spot with a tabbed interface. All I can get to now is the open window list. EDIT: No, wait, I think it was bookmarks, history, and downloads all in one place. I was using CM5 at the time if that matters.
Am I missing something obvious here?
Also, does anyone else think it's annoying that the browser has it's own brightness setting and you can't just tell it to use the normal brightness setting? I understand the idea behind the future. You spend a lot of time staring at the screen when using the browser, so it's nice to be able to dim it to save battery power, but I sure wish there were an option to just make it use the normal brightness, because I really don't care. This is especially annoying when I have the brightness in the browser all the way up, and I'm using the reddit app at night in my bed, and I click a link. BAM! I'm blinded by the bright screen and have to keep staring at it to go find the setting to lower it.
I think Samsung made some really dumb mistakes with their version of Android. I know that custom roms solve these problems, but users shouldn't have to hack their phone to get basic features like access to browser history and bookmarks.
I have a quick question, I have the web browser in full screen and with the controls that pop up on the side of the web browser. I now have 8 windows open and I can navigate between them but how do I see them all to close them? Can't figure that out.
Thanks
Garrett
Sorry, figured it out had to turn off the side controls and then it won't be full screen and you can close the windows.
Thanks
With the quick controls, there is an X on the lower left, that closes your current window and opens the next one.
Just installed this browser to get rid of the annoying "browser not responding" and thus far, having pretty good luck and really liking the browser, much more than the stock.
My only gripe is, why can I not see the address bar when scrolled down far on the screen? For example, while in any other browser, if I am far down the page, as long as I "pull down" the address bar appears, but while in ICS quick browser, I have to scroll all the way back up to the top.
Is this a setting I can fix, or is that just the way it is? I hope is can be changed because I am really liking this browser.
Thanks!
if you tap once on the visible tab title area the address bar appears.
hope the above makes sense.

I tried that, I figured that would do the trick, but no. I have to go all the way back up. I wonder why this is. For example, I tried it on facebook as well as google news...somewhere I was able to be far down.
No other ideas? tapping in the tab area does nothing.
I been telling people about this browser for awhile now. It's badass! To get to a tab without scrolling all the way back up just tap the 4th button from the left next to the recent tabs key. It's what I always did. Hope that helps you.:good:

[Q] ICS Quick Browser - x...
works to toggle the address bar on and off.

I'm an idiot! I wa clicking next to the tab, this worked!
I dont mine the address bar going away, but getting it back sucks. My Nexus S, all you had to do was scroll up the page a line and it would pop back. SGSIII, I'm having to scroll all the way to the top of the page to get it back.
Is there a setting to change this or am I doing something wrong?
I know there are other browsers, but I prefer the stock one, so please don't tell me to use one of the many others
That's the only way I can get it back as well. I haven't seen any settings for this, though I have found something you might want to try. In your browser go to settings -> Labs -> Check Quick Controls. Sliding your finger from the edge gives you some controls. This gives you an option to pull up the address bar while anywhere on the page. Will probably take some getting use to though. Only weird thing is that when you have quick controls on, scrolling to the top of the page will not bring up the address bar.
Hello. I've got a Nexus 7 rooted with the most recent version of SmoothROM on it. I'd like to use the tablet in a sort of kiosk mode. Right now I'm using a combination of the full!screen app and by enabling Quick Controls from the Labs menu in the stock browser. This gives me the fullscreen I need by removing control buttons, etc, and the Quick Controls removes the URL and forces the browser into a full screen mode. To access the settings you touch anywhere on the right or left edge of the browser and a menu instantly pops up. That is where my problem is. Is there anyway to delay that pop up? Ideally I'd like to have to hold it for a few seconds before it pops up. Even just having it activate in only one spot would be nice.
Any idea if this is somehow possible?
Thanks
