Root question - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any way to root the s3 without loosing the warranty?

Not possible!

Dude... Just read some threads about rooting and soon enough you'll find out that you will loose your warranty with rooting. You can recover it with triangle away though.

Then flash a stock rom to remove the 'modified' text from status.

If you are on 2.3.4 or 2.3.5; No.
If you're on 2.3.3; Yes.
You can flash the 2.3.3 bootloader with 2.3.5 firmware, and then use it.
No, there isn't another way. Would be stupid of Samsung, if there would be one.
Just buy our make yourself one. It's cheap.

New gs3 user want to root.

Hello, just wondering if anyone can point me into a root guide for the sg3. New to the phone and wondering if it is the same as the s2 with regards to odin. Also what's the best standard rim with root?
Thanks in advance.

If you have the International version, you can use this tutorial at the link below. I personally used it and in my opinion, the best and easiest method.

OTA update

I don't know wether this is a stupid question. Dunno much about rooting.thinking about rooting. But am anxiously awaiting the official jb update. Will I be able to update to this if I'm rooted? I mean if ota or via kies? Or rooting will prevent this? Pls shed some light!!!
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
AFAIK you'll be able to install the update without any problems, but you'll need to re-root after installing it.
So I don't have to unroot or anything and can just simply update without doing anything u mean?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
It is easy to do, took me under 5 mins today, don't be afraid to root
If it gives you any grief with OTA update you can un-root without leaving any signs of doing it there is some good guides online just google it. This forum won't let me post links here but try the galaxys3root website, their guides are very good.
I'm sorry, but I dint get u. U meant easy to root or easy to update?

As previously said, if you are rooted you can still update and use the OTA for it whereas after updating you will loose root and have to re-root.
To make it even more simple you can use MobileOdin which will root automatically during the update process.
And one more question is about the flash counter on s3. Does rooting start a count or only when u flash a Rom it happens?

rooting, if I understood well, does not increase the counter (?). whereas when you are rooted you can easily reset the counter with Triangle Away app, its just one click.
Are u sure??

Help needed

Hello I'm wanting to go back to original settings on s3,but I've rooted my phone is there a way I can go back to how I had it first time round? Also Will it wipe the root off my phone? Not sure if I right place
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Solution 1: Update the firmware with KIES ans you will have your phone unrooted.
Solution 2: Use the "Firmware Upgrade and Initialization" in the "Tools" of your Samsung KIES and you will have the newest firmware and with everything reset
Are you on a stock or a custom Rom?

Just flash a stock rom with mobile Odin or Odin. You'll lose your root though.

If you've wiped and back to stock then sounds like hardware, service centre required.
