Hello, just wondering if anyone can point me into a root guide for the sg3. New to the phone and wondering if it is the same as the s2 with regards to odin. Also what's the best standard rim with root?
Thanks in advance.

If you have the International version, you can use this tutorial at the link below. I personally used it and in my opinion, the best and easiest method.

If you are on ICS version,
this is not an app but, many versions of stock ICS rom have been rooted with this method, you can read the thread and try : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719

As far as I know, gingerbreak has very rarely worked on the SGS2. Definitely doesn't work on ICS, as the name indicates.
Only 99% certain, here are 150 pages to confirm/refute...
ZacQ8's link is the only non-pc root method available - 99.99% sure about that.
Should be more popular because of that, IMO (said the man who doesn't use ICS...)
few people have posted that they sucessfully rooted their S2 through gingerbreak.. Only if you extract files in right folder...and also i am not on ICS till now.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Just use the method posted by @ZACQ8. It takes only few minutes, it's secure and works fine. That CWM "live" version can even do backups, restores and etc.
We really need apps like "universal androot'" for galaxy s2 .. I just rooted my motorola droid through this app its so simple and easy...just a one click away no need to get in to recovery mode.i hope someone is working on a similer app like this for s2 ..

Just make sure you don't try anything until your sure its been tested. 2 users on the Aussie thread lost their imei numbers while trying to root there's. One has already booked with Samsung service.

Hello I'm wanting to go back to original settings on s3,but I've rooted my phone is there a way I can go back to how I had it first time round? Also Will it wipe the root off my phone? Not sure if I right place

Solution 1: Update the firmware with KIES ans you will have your phone unrooted.
Solution 2: Use the "Firmware Upgrade and Initialization" in the "Tools" of your Samsung KIES and you will have the newest firmware and with everything reset
Are you on a stock or a custom Rom?

Just flash a stock rom with mobile Odin or Odin. You'll lose your root though.

Hi,
So I am wondering if it is possible to root the international S3 without a computer. I am running Swedish stock 4.1.1.
I am not new to android but I am new to xda. The reason I am asking is because I am currently backpacking in Australia and I need to root so I can get the latest update + fix a bunch problems.
With me I have a Asus transformer Eeepad if it helps at all wich I doubt.
Thanks in advance all you helpfull xda members.
Regards Reclused
If you have another device there is an app that can root from another phone... I'll look for it and post the link
Strange.. I have it installed but not showing anywhere for a link. Search root transmission here in the forums. You'll find it

How would you do that, rooting one device with another rooted device and not use Odin/Mobile Odin? Can`t think of a way right now.

Imo impossible, you always need Odin to install SU and/or CWM. If you can run that from a tablet it is oke.
-EDIT- Here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2014121, but not for the international S3 atm, not supported yet.
Thanks a lot, I hope they figure it out soon for the international one.
The thing is that I want the latest update on my s3 but I can't get it OTA because it is "changed" status. So I figured I would root it and flash the latest stock version via mobile Odin. But can I root the TF101 without a computer and then use the root transmission perhaps? It has the latest version 9.2.1.27 ICS.

Check this forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1104, make sure it is for your model. I don`t have a tablet myself so can`t help you much there
Root your asus: see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1366743
Oh i saw u linked the root transmission app link sorry for misunderstanding. Okay it seems I'm ****ad... :/ Thanks for all your help. Anyways.

In the future please search for an answer before asking. This gets asked all the time.
Now to answer you question rooting and unlocking to flush a custom ROM is the easiest way. You can do it without, but you have to mod every app that you want yourself

Yes also it's important to tell us the build number (or at least last digits) because we have two official builds and both are 4.1.1

its ll4
it says ll4
its super simple to root it and flash and I think thats your best bet for having all your apps multiwindow'ed. I had my doubts (only rooted once before and had a tricky process) but its really simple this time around. Just DL some files click a few buttons and your done in under 5 mins. I'm too lazy to find links and whatnot but if you are genuinely interested I can at least send you some stuff on how to root your phone.
Just follow this guide to root unlock and flash a ROM. It's the best walk through around
