Is there an unroot method for the GTab 10.1 Wifi that DOESN'T wipe and return to stock? I want to install a custom ROM and go back and forth between root as my company doesn't allow their Good for Enterprise app to work on a rooted device.

Delete /system/bin/su, then system/app/superuser.apk and reboot. I have done it and all the signs of root were gone. Also I've read that superSU from market does the job, but never tried it. Either way, afaik, the only way to be 10000% certain is to flash a clean, stock rom.

Others have tried OTA root keeper without success with Good for Enterprise (GFE).
I tried SuperSU (which is a cool app!) without any luck. I tried it both with and without a rooted kernel. GFE still detects root even when it's been "turned off" in SuperSU.
I will next try to permanentally unroot via SuperSU and hope it doesn't wipe.

Permanent unroot works in SuperSU to unroot and allow Good for Enterprise to work on my tablet. I can always reflash the rooted update.zip file to gain root again if I need to.
Success! This allow root to be removed and not wipe the Galaxy Tab.

Which Galaxy Tab do you have? I have the Tab Pro 8.4 and I tried to do permanent unroot with SuperSU and GFE complained. What version of GFE was it? Did you do anything else after unroot?

Lol. This was from 2 years ago man. It was the original Galaxy Tab 10.1
I have no idea which version if GFE it was, but I'm sure this thread is old and dead now.

I recently got my S4, and I updated to the 4.3 update, as I didn't know that I wanted to root my phone then. I have been looking all over, and I can't find a method that works for rooting my phone. I have the Verizon version of it. I have 2 questions.
1. Has someone figured out how to root this particular version of software? I have already tried Kingo, and it didn't work. Knox blocked it.
2. If not, is there a way that I can revert my phone back to 4.2.2 Android, so that I can root from there?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

1. Yes, some great people on this forum have figured out how to root the 4.3 MJ7 update. You need to root with VROOT 1.7.2. Then you need to run the root_de_la_vega script to get rid of the Chinise superuser and install SuperSU instead.

Or follow these instructions if you don't know how to use VROOT - Mod Edit: Links to vRoot are currently not allowed on XDA. There are concerns as to the personal information such as IEMI numbers and Serial numbers it collects during he root process which is not necessary.
So, if your willing to try that, all you can do on this 4.3 at the current time is to root and then debloat the device. No custom recoveries have been developed (yet *holding breath).
2. From what I've read, once you update to 4.3 MJ7, your stuck with it, no downgrading.

The last part of this is true, you can not install a custom recovery, so no ROMs.
The first part is not entirely true, you can do more than debloat. You can run apps requiring root, debloat or freeze apps using TB, remove ads, edit system files, etc.
I recall hearing that Hashcode was working on Safestrap for 4.3, so ROMs may be coming.

Alright. Here's the situation. I have successfully rooted, but I can't update supersu. I can't download the binary SU for what ever reason. Does anyone know how to fix this? It seems like I can't give root access to apps, but I know that it is rooted. Any help is appreciated!

Yep, I was in the same boat after vroot. After doing some research and reading threads on here I found that I had to run the root de la vega script as well. Bascially you need the android terminal emulator and titanium backup (paid verstion too, I believe to be able to freeze apps, specifically the "Superuser" after you've gained root access in terminal emulator) to succeed. Follow the instructions that I posted above (the ones from xda-develepors.com), and you will be able to rid your device of the Chinese "Superuser" program and have SuperSU installed instead, and it will be allowed to update its binaries.

I will try re-rooting. I followed all of the instructions, but I think I became unroofed when my phone reset. I'll let you guys know how that goes.

So, after the OS upgrade to 4.3 from 4.2.2, I've discovered that some applications that requires root access deny my system root, YES I've checked that my device is rooted, I have the stock kernel, stock firmware but I've rooted it via Odin3 with CF-AUTO ROOT, and yes the operation was successful. Now, the apps that I'm talking about is Gamecih app and all the other apps like that, and Screen recording apps, all of then denied my root. I've tried wifi kill app (that app works perfectly). So what could be the problem? The app or the OS version itself? Please find me a solution to fix this god dam problem, I'm using the Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE (GT-i9305) device.
You need to re-root your phone with 4.3 root script, and then install supersu..
i think the best way is flash philZ Recovery though odin.. good luck

Ive been having a strange problem with a couple Galaxy Mega I9200. I have rooted both before without any problems using KINGO originally. The i decided to update both of them with version UBUCNA2. When i tried to re root them back, even though the process have run fine a couple times the phone is not rooting. At this point i dont know what else to do to try to root those phones. I have tried every single method around this forum i think not just KINGO this time. And have not been able to reach root the way it should. Titanium backup shows not able to aquire root priviledges, and other root apps also. Can someone please help me on this?? Keep in mind im not a newbie so dont give me the recovery method advice without something new or to use KINGO because ive have done that already. Thanks a lot guys
You upgraded your phones to the latest knox enabled firmware which has the knox bootloader. You cannot go back to an older firmware or flash a custom rom now.
To root, try the directions provided in this thread and use the melius3gxx files instead of meliusltexx.

Ok thanks, the phones already had the knox apk so my guess was that it was going to be the same thing. Thanks for clarifying that one. And thanks for the advice.
Thanks again, turns out the only thing that is failling root access is when i try to unlock the phone via box. For some reason when its checking for SU access it fails. But thanks anyway i managed to solve the Root problem.

I rooted through Phill touch Recovery.
Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 SM-G750A AT&T Root. Plus Hotspot unlocked for Cricket or other
First step is to root your phone using King Root. This is the only known root to this day for the Mega 2 AT&T version that has the locked bootloader. It also wasn't known until a few days ago. It does not require a computer. Go to your security section in your phone settings and check unknown sources. Download King Root, run it and even without rebooting you will have root within a few minutes.

In the first post at the end is the attachment. Be sure you use 4.0.0.233 because that's the one that worked for me. I attached the Root King 4.0.0.233 file at the bottom of this post.
It goes on to mention how to replace king root with supersu. I haven't tried to replace king root because it works fine like it is. If someone wants to try it let me know.
Also during my testing I tried to install a zip from my stock bootloader and it wiped my whole phone back to stock. I assume any changes we make to this rom can not be done flashing a zip because of the locked bootloader. After it wiped everything I still had root though. The root application was the only application left on my phone besides the stock bloatware. If you want to remove Root King you need the app so I guess it's good that the app stays unless you uninstall using its own app.
Now we can install Titanium Backup. Run it close it then go back and (pay for if you haven't done it before) get Titanium Backup Pro key that will allow you to freeze apps. So you can freeze all the apps that will try to update your phone.
You can also remove all the bloatware.
After days of trying different apps to get hotspot to work I found this on another forum. Rather then posting a link (to another site) I have made this shortened version from the original and have given credit to Max Lee. If you want the original thread that includes photos of each step then Google search the title I copied below.
This was not originally written for the Mega 2 but it works perfectly on our Mega.

My added steps.
* Step 10. To turn on hotspot you need to go to settings and press Tethering and Wifi Hotspot then press Mobil hotspot, finally slide the switch to on.
Go to Play Store and get HotSpot Toggle by Mehdy Bohlool.
This will make a widget you can put on you home screen to make it easy to turn on and off the hotspot without going through all those other steps each time you want to turn it on and off.
Install it then go to your widgets, find the HotSpot Toggle, grab it and drop it onto your home screen.
I am going to reserve this space incase later I need to add something.

I'm in the same page as you. I have the same baseband, and it appears that may have "fixed" whatever exploits others have found. I went so far as to fill up my phone with apps so it doesn't have enough room to download the AT&T updates anymore. I cannot stop these automatic updates without root. I've tried several Kingroot versions, including the one from this post. I've tried Towelroot with several different options. I sure wish I could get this thing rooted. The sandboxed SD card kills my emulation.

I updated mine to 5.1.1 in hopes that one of the root methods would start working. Still no go with either Kingroot or Towelroot. I'd give the dump a try, but I don't think we can get an ADB dumb without root can we? If so, I would mind giving it a shot.
No root before modification of kernel itself (my opinion)

I am glad I Rooted mine before my phone updated to Android 5.0 I have had the same issue with some gs4 att phones that I didn't get Rooted before they updated to lollipop. I was able to root 2 of these mega 2s by doing it before they updated to lollipop.

The gs4 that used to be unrootable if it was updated to lollipop, has now been able to root using a newer version of kingroot. Try again to root your att mega 2 on lollipop using one of the latest kingroot. A new bonus now is if you do get root from kingroot you can buy Supersume from the playstore and it will remove kingroot and replace it with supersu automatically. There is a free method to manually replace kingroot with supersu also.

I used Supersu-me-v6.7 as posted above to replace Kinguser, Supersu installed fine including updating binary's but upon reboot I am now in a BOOTLOOP!!!
I Can get into Download Mode and Stock Recovery I have Wiped my CACHE & Tried a Factory Reset But still in a BOOTLOOP!!!
I Guess I am stuck for now with no Stock Odin Rom or Update available as I Am on 5.1.1 Any Help Or Ideas Fella's??

Oh man, I did almost the exact same thing. Only difference is that I used a script instead of Supersu-me. I am too stuck in a boot loop, and cannot get Odin, Kies 2.6, Kies 3 or Samsung Smart Switch to work. Every time I get this error on my phone in download mode: "SW REV. CHECK FAIL. DEVICE: 3. BINARY: 1"

Ok for those having issues of bootloop, there are easy ways to fix this.
If you are able to flash via Odin, just flash any firmware version on top of the one you have.
The device will probably boot normally, but will have issues inside OS. This issues should be fixed once you boot in recovery mode and wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache. BACKUP your suff in windows before you do the factory reset, just ignore the bugs in case they happen and backup your sutff viaSamsung Kies3/Smartswitch or normal windows browsing.
After your phone is back to normal, you can update to latest firmware again OTA WIFI, Odin, Kies/Smartswitch, SamFirm etc.

Followed the guides for the Verizon Sony Xperia Z3v & managed to upgrade to Android 5.0.2 with root access. I was ecstatic until I was told by my IT Administrators, that Good For Enterprises will not run/work on a rooted device. (Followed this guide exactly Guide)
I know it sucks, but I have to have Good For Enterprises for work. So...
1. What is the best way unroot so I can resume using GFE?
2. What will happen to the XZ Dual Recovery I've installed? Is it possible to keep custom recovery & get rid of root access, so that I can still flash new firmware in the future?

As I understand it, to get back to stock will require flashtool and flashing the stock sony file.

I don't need to get back to stock, rather, I need to "un-root" the device so it will pass the GFE compliance check. In SuperSU there is a Full unroot option. Would that work to unroot the device? If I select that option, what happens to the custom dual recovery I installed per the previously posted guide on how to root & flash Lollipop?

Going back to stock is the way to fully unroot. You can try the unroot function in the SuperSU app but I can't 100% guarantee that is enough for gfe to work.
I am uncertain if you can keep dual recovery when not rooted.

So you were on 5.02 rooted and using SuperSU you unrooted and rebooted for it to work? Can you root again using SuperSU just using the app after installing GFE?

Yes, that's correct. I used SuperSU to unroot, reboot, & then GFE was able to go through the full activation process. My understanding of GFE is that anytime the GFE Service starts, it does a compliance check & if it discovers root, it will force close the app. This is what was occurring when I tried to activate the GFE license with root access. It would activate & then when it went to start the GFE Service it would force close the app.
I have not tried to reroot with SuperSU to see if GFE will work once activated with root access. My guess from reading different forums is that it will not. I will try in a month or two after some time has passed for the IT guys at my company, to re-root the device & see if I can use GFE with the phone rooted.

did you see if that good for enterprise-root module on xposed that may have worked.
