Droid Razr help - Motorola Droid RAZR

My droid razr running 6.51 brasil Rom android 2.3.6 is not showing in rsd lite, help?

Do you have the correct USB drivers installed? Also, make sure you have USB debugging enabled (menu->settings->applications->developerment)
Get the USB drivers here:
http://www.motorola.com/consumers/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=0351f6a559431210VgnVCM1000008406b00aRCRD

So all I need to do is update drivers does anything else need to be up to date?

I don't know. Those are just suggestions since I can't see your phone and your PC to see how they are set up.
Have you at least checked to make sure you have usb debugging enabled and tried hooking your razr up to your pc to see if that works?
If not, then upgrade the usb drivers and see if that helps, but enabling usb debugging would be my first step.

I'm not that nooby, my drivers are up to date, and I checked USB , it still doesn't show, even in
Fast boot mode.

I'm not sure what else you can do at this point. Have you tried using a different USB cable? Maybe the cable is bad?
All I know is, I'm running RSD Lite v5.7 with the latest USB drivers from the link I provided and I can see my phone listed in RSD Lite when it's hooked up to the PC.
On another computer, I had RSD Lite v5.3 and it showed up in that as well.
Anyone else have any suggestions? I'm at a loss.

Connect your razr to another USB port.

When you say "Brasil" does that mean you are running an ICS leak? I haven't flashed any of those, but I do know that when you get to a certain leak (after leak 79), you cannot fastboot flash back to Gingerbread or you brick your phone.
If so, maybe that's why you can't see it in RSD Lite? I could be wrong as I haven't loaded up any of the ICS leaks so I could be WAY off base here.

its GB what can I do? I have an eco moto USB cable.

Questions belongs in Q&A
Cheers

At this point, try it in another USB port, get another cable, try it on another computer. I'm at a loss now if you've tried everything else I've suggested.
BTW, has this ever worked for you before?
Again, I just want to confirm that you have done the following:
USB debugging is enabled
Installed latest RSD Lite
Installed latest USB drivers
Rebooted PC

CANNOT get RSDLite to recognize atrix, help needed..

I've been looking around the net for about an hour and have not gotten any answers.
The info:
-Running GingerBlur 4.5
-NOT Unlocked
-Using Windows 7 64bit
-Have used multiple versions of RSD Lite
-Moto drivers installed.
Whats the problem? RSD Lite 5.3 will NOT recognize my atrix when its plugged in. I have tried everything i know of (reboot device, PC, change USB ports, install and reinstall all drivers and RSD) and nothing.
It simply will not recognize my device, even though my computer does and says all drivers installed.
Im trying to unlock and flash a new ROM. Can Gingerblur possibly be causing the issue? Ive read that Win7 64bit may be the problem? Any and all help would be appreciated
i beleve its been updated to 5.5 and also install your drivers and use the usb plug in the back of your pc
EDIT ;;;;;;!Ican confirm its been updated to 5.5. when i googled rsd lite 5.5 it
was the first topic /download on xda

I heard also that WIN7 64bit has some problems RSD.
Try using a different comp with lower WIN version (I know for sure that Vista 32bit works great).
I don't think that the GingerBlur can have any effect, its just a mod, something a little more complex then a theme. besides I unlocked my BL when I was running GladiAtrix, which is another mod, and it went without problems...
Good luck

I have version 5.6 on my home computer. It is probably higher than that now as I have had it for a while.
I use Windows 7 64 bit without any problems.
You should definitely try a different USB port. There is a common issue of one USB port not seeing devices, whuile the port next to it does.
Uninstall the drivers and Motohelper if you have it, then reinstall Motohelper. I have found that installing Motohelper is better for driver install. You do not need to install the drivers seperately if you install Motohelper, as they are installed with Motohelper.
Boot into fastboot, connect your phone to your PC, bring up a command prompt and, in my case, I do 'cd C:\moto-fastboot' which is the location I have moto-fastboot at. (Obviously you need moto-fastboot on your PC). Then type in 'moto-fastboot devices'. If your computer sees your phone it will be listed and you should be good to go. The just 'moto-fastboot reboot' to reboot your phone.
Thanks for the replies, however i did use an older computer, Vista to be exact. It recognized my phone instantly, i flashed the SBF...
Failed to boot 2... FML
I've been looking all around and am currently going to flash the pudding 2.3.4 SBF. Is that a good call?

I probably should have just tried that before flashing the pudding SBF. Hmm, its currently executing the file, so im kinda SOL at this point.
I upgraded to 5.5 RSD and it still wouldnt pick up my phone? Tried multiple USB ports. Its not my computer not recognizing it, because it chimes and picks up my phone just fine...its RSD.
Well, after flashing the pudding 2.3.4, its stops loading at the white ATT screen, phone will not continue booting. Suggestions?
How long on that screen?
It can take 10-15 minutes to boot up after flashing.

I tried also to use Rsdlite on my Win 7 64bit laptop without any luck. My other laptop with same software installed normally works but not the one I had with me at the time. I ended up using a very old XP laptop with shattered screen and no battery and worked like a charm.
I had exactly the same problem with Motorola software update as well. On Some machines they simply refuse to work.
Have you tried booting in RSD Support mode?
Turn the phone off.
Push Volume + rocker and keep it pressed while turning the phone on.
That will boot up the phone in RSD mode and I've always had success with that method.
Hope that helps.

RSD mode isnt the problem, getting RSD Lite on the computer to recognize the device is the problem.
In my experience, MotoHelper is the culprit. Find the drivers itself without motohelper and try. I figured this out putting a Photon in diag mode, it wont let me read, said the port was already opened. Well was the motohelper service.
Uninstall all drivers and install just Motorola Drivers:
http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/Drivers/Motorola-Handset-USB-Driver-for-Windows-32-bit-38123.shtml
or the 64 bit version.
Hope it helps

There are so many contradicting things w/ RSD lite and Win7 64bit. I ended up just manually installing the drivers, still wouldnt work on my PC, had to us XP on my netbook.
I flashed pudding 2.3.4 last night and tried messing with Rom Manager, but it says my phone no longer has root priviledges (had root previously, was running gingerblur 4.5). Superuser is installed on my phone however. Rom Manager states...
"you must root your phone for ROM manager to function. Superuser was not found at "/system/bin/su" or "/system/xbin/su". Use Google Search on your computer to find instructions to root your phone."
How should i reattain root? The SBF was supposed have root preinstalled i thought. Can i flash the BL unlock, use Rom Racer and flash Darkside or something? Or will i not have root still?
I havent quite kept up w/ the Atrix development since the BL was unlocked, and there seems to be many methods and multiple uncleaned threads.
Now this thread is no longer about RSD...but basically restoring root without flashing the wrong thing and bricking my device.
yea when I went from gingerblur gingerbread. I had to re root I just used gingerbreak again and it worked

Trouble Rooting ICS OTA

I'm having trouble rooting after pulling the oTA this morning. I tried fourdifferent methods, all of which have worked before with leaks as well as with a side loaded install (different Maxx). Put USB debiggin on and tried each of these both as mass storage and MTP:
Matt's Utility 1.7
ROOT-ICS Exploit (can't find the link in dev right now)
Eternity Project's Method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1710871
Doomlord's Method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1341578
In all cases, the daemons just wait for the device - they never see it. In mass storage mode, I'm seeing the drive pops up on Windows so I know I'm connecting using the stock USB cord.
Any suggestions?
I'd be interested in knowing as well...

For the Eternity Project method, you have to enable Mock Locations under developer options (and be in MTP mode), not just USB debugging.

Yes, went back and tried that. Thanks. Still no luck though. Can't figure it out. It's like the scripts aren't able to find the phone. I can't imagine that me and soopafly are the only ones dealing with this since the OTA. Are there others out there that haven't been able to re-root?

Hi!
Take a look on others users problems they faced in eternityproject easyrootics.
You may face problems with other devices drivers like htc sync, kies, motocast... disable those and check you got adb working by typing
Code:
adb devices
I your root folder from windows terminal.
cheers
did you make sure you have the correct drivers installed? Not just plugging it in to USB and windows says drivers are installed.. that's not it. You have to make sure you install the correct 32 or 64 bit drivers (included in "Matt's Utility). Extract them, and double click to run the installation. Then try Matt's utility again.
I have only used M's U, not the other methods on both a 32 bit computer, and a 64 bit puter and haven't had any problems whatsoever. Good luck.
Edit: Just thought of this as I was re-reading the thread, try a different USB port. Some of my other USB stuff only works in the port it was installed in. Also, I'm sure you know, but to find out if you're 32 or 64 bit, go to "start" right click on "my computer", then properties. Install the drivers that are included in the extracted Matt's Utility 1.7 folder. Make sure USB debugging is enabled, USB mass storage on your phone. It'll re-boot 3-4 times during the rooting process.

I had the same issue when I side loaded. Drivers were updated and all was well. Try plugging the phone in in charge only mode. I was complicating the process by trying to do it in fastboot. I was informed to just plug it in, hit 3 and let Matt's utility do it's thing. And it did.
maybe his link will help.

Setting my USB mode to connect as a camera (PTP) did it!
I had the Moto Drivers from Matt's Utility 1.7 already installed (driver ver 5.7.0) and based on advice from other posts in this string, I went ahead and uninstalled them and reinstalled them just to be safe. Root attempts after doing that using the methods I discussed in my OP still were unsuccessful.
After seeing newowner's post, I went ahead and chose camera mode for the USB Computer Connection (settings -> storage -> press the menu key and choose Camera (PTP) and windows installed additional devices: USB Composite Device, DROID RAZR, and Mot Composite ADB Interface. I'm guessing the ADB Interface on was the one I was missing before.
Okay, I'm rooted and I'm heading back through this string with my bag O'Thanks to all of you.
Glad to assist.
Thanks for following up with your progress.
ICS is a little different!
nothing worked for me...tried camera mode tried media mode, tried different computers and reinstalling and uninstalling....bah.
I ended up doing a factory reset and everything was fine after. Boo...couldn't TB it beforehand though..

[Q] usb not recognized

I aquired a droid x2 from a friend at work. I have searched the web and what I have found nothing to help. I have installed the motorola drivers. Tried three different computers. Three different usb cables. No matter what I tried I can not get any of the computers to find the phone. They all show up with usb not recognized and/or driver not successfully isntalled. The droid is running 2.3.5. Any help as to how to fix this problem?
I went directly to the Motorola site and downloaded the package. It took some doing to get the drivers to work the first time.
Sent using my Droid x2 running cm9 beta 1
First, use this DOWNLOAD. Run it as an administrator. Remove all USB devices that don't belong or have anything to do with ADB motorola or anything for any device manufacturer.
Reboot.
Install this DOWNLOAD, which is the drivers... Install the appropriate one. RSD is for flashing the SBF files to restore when you make a boo-boo...
After you reboot, then plug in your phone. It should install without issue. Also, make sure the development mode is disabled. Go with the basics until you get your base drivers installed first.
Let me know if it works!
Thanks. Ill give it a try when I get home
I tried both the links and they both dont send me to a download

No USB connectivity with any JB rom on my droid razr.

I installed 4 different romsof JB on my Razr and the results are always the same: Loss of USB connectivity
The USB connectivity not working, my pc does not recognize my phone, either MTP or Mass Storage .... nothing went wrong in the installation did everything step by step, after flashing the rom, I warned of the recovery that might have been lost root access, if and only wanted to fix that if I put all my works between exept the usb transfer. I use BMM 0.3.4...
The drivers are installed properly on my pc because ICS works fine with USB mode. I tried different cables and different computers but the result is the same.
Any Help? Please!!
I have exactly the same problem.
My razr is GSM - LATAM device. By february I installed JB leak from China. After some time with it, I decided to go back to stock ICS due to some locale issues/random bugs.
Now my razr lost all USB connectivity. RSDLite can't "see" my phone even if I boot on AP Fastboot mode.
Openned this topic today: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2178919&highlight=usb+connectivity
I managed to switch back to moto's stock ICS through a NANDROID that a guy uploaded.... had to use a micro-SD so I could pass the zip to my phone.
Still, my phone has no USB connectivity at all. =(

The charging port is failing. Mine is doing the same. Sent it in for warranty repairs and they claimed it was fine. Moto tech support is worthless and you are better off finding someone to replace it or doing it yourself.

[Q] Why Damn it Why ?????

Motorola razr maxx just won't connect using usb debugging, latest drivers, and new motorola oem usb cable. It will function in ap fastboot to install jellybean firmware though. Different usb's and computers give the same error message: USB device not recognized.
Now how am I going to root and stop the OTA update notifications???????
Search 3 hours on the net with no luck.

Hey dude. Somebody is posting using your account. I've read your posts and they are much more precise and helpful than the last one. Hey I was able to break apart the driver package from Motorola and install each entity separately. Used a 5/16 wrench and screwdriver to tighten them down. Made all the difference. NOT. Why don't people think before they post. Probably trying to get the post count.up.
