Is my phone kaput? - HTC Rezound

Running clean rom pro edition, let my battery drain all the way down today. At about 4 percent phone just shut off, was unable to plug in for a few hours, now when i plug in the phone the indicator light does nothing. Unless I pull the battery and put it back. When i hit power after doing that the indicator is orange for about 1.3 seconds and then goes back to off until I pull the battery again. I did drop the phone today but the phone ran fine until that battery ran out...? think its broken? and anyone know where i can get a cheap verizon phone if it is? like a refurb or something?

Even powered off it doesn't charge?

[Q] Defective phone? Charging problems/random power off

This morning, I woke up to find me 3vo plugged in, but the light was off and I couldn't turn the phone off. My first thought was that it died.....while plugged in over night? So I pulled the battery, put it back in, plugged it in, and the red charging light came on, but only half the brightness it normally is. It also wouldn't turn on and the light turned off after a couple of seconds. I then pulled the battery, waited a minute, put it back in, plugged in, and it seemed to be charging like normal. I turned it on but it took a couple of minutes to boot up, much longer than any normal boot up time.
On a separate occasion, I had 60% battery life one afternoon. I checked my phone 15 minutes later and it said the battery was 5% or less and then shut down a couple of seconds after I turned the screen on.
There was nothing to link these two incidents. I'm trying to figure out if it is a problem with software, hardware, or battery. I can't make the problem happen, so its going to be interesting if I need to take it to a sprint store for a replacement/repair. Thanks for any input or ideas.
Phone is stock, no root.
I know I've had to pull my battery for unknown reasons to start it. The only time I ever so the led at half brightness is when the phone is booting without quickboot (battery pull clears memory for a quickboot). It's like putting your computer in sleep mode, your computer sends fast startup information to volatile memory (ram), so it boots off fast RAM instead of slow hard drives.
As for your 60 to 5 in 2.5 (seconds). I'd try wiping your battery stats in recovery. Make sure you have a FULL charge, wipe battery stats, fully drain the battery, the fully charge. Your battery meter should be accurate afterwards...
If this helps, please hit the thanks button...

[Q] Atrix won't boot - solid green LED

I've had my Atrix since March 17th. Last night I put it into my back pocket fully functional (screen locked, battery at 30%) and when I pulled it out again 20 minutes later, the screen was off and the green LED light was just on solid.
I have a 2nd battery for my phone as well as a wall charger for that battery. I've had experiences with fully drained batteries, so I waited until my second battery was fully charged off that wall charger, and traded the battery out for the full one. It does the same thing. It does the same thing without a battery but plugged directly into the wall as well.
It won't even get to the Moto splash screen to allow me to get into Fastboot.
Any ideas? Is it completely hosed?
I've had KIND OF a similar experience. What worked for me was removing the battery from the phone, leaving it out for a full minute, then putting it back in. When I booted it up I held in the down volume + power to get into fastboot, and it booted up the proper screen.
If you can't get it into fastboot (or recovery for that matter) I can't imagine what options you have. Just let it sit overnight without any battery in it and try in the morning. Sometimes the phone shuts off automatically as a safety feature due to heat, moisture, etc. Maybe it was set off. Sorry, that's the best advice I got right now.

[Q] Battery showing empty when it is fully charged

Hi,
My phone took a quick swim, so I pulled it out of the bath took the battery out as quick as I could. I then took the phone apart to help the drying process.....all good
Let it dry for two days and put it back together......Now the problem
Basically the phone boots up but says the battery is empty and I get the critical batt level message and after 20 seconds it shuts down...during the 20 or so seconds the phone works normally. When I pull in my charger (with the phone off) I get the 100% battery icon but am unable to turn the phone on. If I plug the charger in as the phone is booting, I get the charging icon in the top right......but it still shuts itself down.
When it shuts down it is with the Galaxy sII splash screen....not a straight shut down like it has absolutely no power
To me this looks like a software problem - but was wondering if any of you guys could help
Thanks in advance

Try with another battery?
.....forgot to add that I have tested the battery in another phone and all is ok - and have tried a known working battery in my phone......same with either battery so I can rule that out

[Q] weird battery/charging issue

So this morning when I unplugged my phone from charging all night, like I always do, the notification bar said the phone was still charging. I plugged charger back in and unplugged and it went away. A couple hours later, I noticed my battery was draining extremely fast. I check the battery in the Settings>About phone>Battery Usage, and it said the phone had been on battery for 24hrs. Meaning the phone never recognized it had charged. I refreshed and no change. I wiped battery stats in recovery and it seemed to work. I later charged the phone to 100% and the problem started again. Phone kept showing the setcpu charging bolt in the notification bar. When I checked battery usage, it just showed 0 seconds on battery and there is nothing there. No display time, no android OS, nothing. I decided to flash uNamed, coming from serendipity. After flash, battery usage still showed 0 seconds on battery. I pulled the battery, and then ended up in a batter charging/battery empty bootloop sort of thing. If I pressed all three buttons (vol up vol dwn and pwr) it would take me to download mode. I had to flash an odin kernel just to get phone working again, but battery stats are still screwy. Any ideas?
Edit > my phone keeps showing charging bolt symbol when its not plugged in. Got it to turn off by plugging/unplugging phone several times. While sitting in my pocket the phone made that noise it makes when you plug it in. Now my phone thinks its charging again. Wtf

[Q] Rezound Bricked?

My Rezound is broken
I unlocked and de-sensed it, but that was when the unlock first came out and it's been working fine since, so I don't thing that's the problem.
The phone won't come on, and when I plug it in the charge light doesn't even come on. If I leave it plugged in, then take the battery out and put it back in the charge light comes on for a few seconds, then turns off.
I was at a new years party the night before and I may have laid down on top of it while it was in my pocket, but the water sensors are fine, and I don't remember it ever getting wet.
I notice there are a lot of connections between the phone and the back cover. Is it possible that something could be bent and these connections aren't being made, so the phone refuses to do anything? I tried putting wires across them where they would normally be connected, but it didn't seem to help.
So what do you guys think? Is there something else I can try? I guess if it's totally broken then they can't tell that it's unlocked, so I could try getting a replacement :/
First off, I wouldn't have put any wire across any of the antenna leads like that. Second, if the phone is not coming on with the cover off then you may have another problem. The phone should turn on without the cover. You just wouldn't have signal.
My opinion, try another batter if you know anyone who has one. Or maybe go to your VZW store and see if they will let you use one of theirs. If the battery/phone is too hot the LED will blink orange, once it is cool enough, or full enough to turn on/charge again it will become solid. The fact you get an indication when there is no battery leads me to believe there may be a problem with the battery itself.
with the phone off, pull the battery for several minutes. Then put it back in and plug it in to the charger. Do not try and turn the phone on. If the charge light comes on and stays on, just let it charge for a few hours until it turns green.
I've read of rezounds dying from the battery going completely out. Screws it up somehow. Verizon also has thunderbolt external chargers for 5 bucks. You could use that to charge the battery (it fits), then try and turn it on. If it still won't turn on after charging, put the battery in and try and boot into the bootloader menu (power on and vol down at the same time), from there you can restore your nandroid or flash another ROM if it will boot to it.
I tried leaving the battery out for a few minutes, and then for the rest of the day. No dice in either case. I'll try to get an external charger tomorrow :/
Thanks for the ideas, I'll let you know how it goes.
Mine died overnight. Same symptoms, charging light for a few seconds then nothing. I plugged it in, let it sit for a while (didn't time it, but not more than 15 minutes). Unplugged it, then: held power, volume up and volume down all at the same time. It booted up, as soon as the screen came on, I plugged it back into the charger. Running fine now. Hope this helps someone else.
Went to Verizon today. I bought another battery and ordered an external charger. Swapped in the new battery and the phone started right up
Now I just hope I didn't screw anything up messing with the antenna contacts :/

After getting the new battery, does the orange LED come on while charging the phone when powered off? I replaced my battery after having the same problem and now the orange light does not stay on while the phone is charging when it is powered off. I guess it's no big deal, but it bothers me.

Yeah, it still works just fine. I turned it off just now and then plugged it in to check and the charging light came on immediately.
Maybe the battery is faulty or you got a thunderbolt battery by mistake and the phone is confused? Otherwise I have no clue why that would happen :/
I have them same problem. My phone is completely dead, won't turn on and a orange light comes on for 3 seconds and goes away and nothing happens. What do I need to do?
Sounds like your battery died. Pull the battery and let it sit for a few, then try to boot it back up and plug it in immediately.
I was reading a thread about this last night on RootzWiki. Dude did a lot of testing, came to find out it was ClockWorkMOD keeping a completely dead battery from charging at all. Is that the recovery you have? If so, I would put AmonRa on, try that.
Agreed, almost definitely a dead battery. You can try this:
1) Take out the battery and put it back in
2) Hold down power and volume down to enter the bootloader
3) Immediately plug the phone in and leave it there for 10 minutes or so
4) Reboot the phone now that you have enough power to make it through booting
This should work as long as your battery is completely dead.
My suggestion for the future though is to buy an external charger and a second battery. That's what I did, and now any time I accidentally let my battery die I just swap it out and I'm good to go at 100% while the other one recharges. Also an external charger is the easiest way to fix this if your battery is too dead for the above method.

Also, remember that if you are using Clockwork Recovery for some reason that makes the phone not charge when its powered down. I had the similar issue where i couldnt get it to charge or come on at all, i put in a battery from my TBolt and it turned right on, switched Recovery to Amon Ra (Blue one, not the Red one) and from there it charged no problem!
worked...

this worked for me! thank you!! also to come to think of it, the problem happened after installing clockworkmod recovery. so there certainly seems to be a connection

This absolutely helped me! I'm really liking this Rezound I picked up but the damn thing is also just very temperamental in general. Still a fantastic underrated device overall though.
My wifes d2g did that once. I ended up taking an old charger, stripping the ends off and taping it to the contacts on the battery for 30 minutes. It charged it up and after that it would charge thru the phone again. A lot cheaper than a new battery.
