Hello all, as you'll see this is my first post and I hope I'm not wasting anyone's time with this but I have looked and cannot find this same issue elsewhere on the forum.
I installed CM7 on a 32GB SD card so I could run my Nook in CM7 with the SD in and then take it out and have it run like a stock Nook tab and still be able to take it in under warranty if I have any issues with it. I wrote the CM7.img to the SD without any problems, the Nook boots into CM7 with the card in and boots into stock Nook ROM with the card out, the only issue is with the gallery on CM7. When I first put the SD in a bunch of pictures showed up in the gallery that seemed to come from the Nook's internal SD, which didn't make any sense because it shouldn't have been running through the on board SD at all. So I decided to download a few pictures from Google+ and when I went back into gallery the only folder that showed up was the downloaded pics. I then decided to pull the SD that had CM7 on it, put it in my computer and drag and drop a few pictures in the "pictures" folder on the SD. I then put it back in the Nook, it booted back up in CM7 just fine but the gallery still only showed the download folder. I even tried downloading the Quikpic app like I have on my Atrix to see if it could pull the images but still all I see are the few I downloaded.
I'm sure this is something really stupid and easy but if someone could point me in the right direction without making me feel TOO stupid I'd really appreciate it.

Benn lurking here for a few days trying to soak in all the info I can until I get my G-Tab from the last woot-off in. Let me start out by saying that the community that has grown around this tablet is great. Lots of good info and work being done to push the G-tab to its potential. Thanks to the Devs and everyone else who contributes.
So my question is this ...... After doing some research I plan to install Vegan 5.1 on my G-Tab when it arrives. I will be sharing the tab with my wife who is a photographer. She said the main feature she wants is to be able to use the tablet to proof her photographs with her clients after a photo shoot. Meaning she will be taking the SD card out of the camera and using a USB memory card reader to access the SD card on the G-Tab. Will this be possible to do on the G-Tab? Is there an app or software that would be better for viewing pictures off of an SD card?
From what I've read so far there seems to be a problem with the tablet not recognizing sdcard2 right? or is there a workaround or fix for this?
Please let me know any suggestions you guys have on how she will have to go about viewing the pictures off of an SD card. I am open to installing different ROMS than Vegan if I have too.
Thanks in advance.
I think there may be some more experienced replies than mine, my experience with the g-tab is still new, however an approach that should work would be to use a mini-sd card in a sleeve, in her camera, then take out the mini-sd and pop that into the g-tab slot. Then you can use the file brower/manager app on the g-tab and browse the mini sd; should be able to just tab an image and show.
Thanks for the reply Riccarr. That sounds like an option but dont want to have to buy all new micro cards unless that is the only option. But I will keep that in mind.
Does anyone else know if its a problem reading jpegs off an sd card through the usb port using a usb card reader? Please share your experiences on viewing pics from a card and if there are any problems I should be ready for. Thanks
I've heard that you can run an SD Card reader off the USB port, in VEGAn 5.11 at least. I've not tried it myself, although I can let you know later tonight as I'm about to head out and buy one.
GoPro HD camera takes an SD card, and I want to be able to view my trackday runs on the tablet while at the track. In glorious HD.
First off I would suggest installing VEGAn-TAB 7.0 instead of earlier Beta version. That's mainly because it is working so well for me. I've had no problems loading .jpg files (of photographs) as well as video files on both the external 16gb micro SD Card and 8gb USB Flash Drive. I've also been able to copy files back and forth between the internal and external SD drives. The USB Flash Drive can be used to copy files to the internal SD drive or to simply use as a second drive to play videos or display photograhs (.jpg files). To copy and paste a file from a drive to go to another drive, simply press and hold the file to be copied and a menu is displayed. Select copy. Then go to the drive and folder you want to paste the file. From the copy/paste notification (press the icon displayed at bottom center) select the file or folder to be pasted. The paste process can be displayed via the notifications window (from the icons on the lower left of the window, press the icon furthest to the right). Curiously enough, the safest place to store and view either videos or .jpg files seems to be the USB Flash Drive. The internal and external SD cards work fine as well, but there does seem to be a problem at times with these files simply disappearing. Good luck.

VEGAn 7.0 RC does work well, and it's arguably the prettiest ROM out there. I've only not gone to it due to the lack of hardware acceleration for video decoding, I'm worried it would result in poor HD playback.
Ok, now on to the card reader. I bought a cheap-o USB reader from Office Depot for $12.99. I'm currently streaming "I am Murloc" from a 2GB Kingston SD card.
Note: The card had to be reformatted in FAT32 for it to work. NTFS will supposedly work for VEGAn as well, but I've not tested if my camera can read either. FAT32 should be safe.
Edit: Spoke too soon. It's working fine as long as I don't put it in the camera. Once it's been in the camera, I can't access it anymore. Not sure why...
Edit 2: Er... ok, now it's working again. Apparently there needs to be something in the root folder for it to pick it up, another folder doesn't work? Will have to test more.
I have had cm7 on my nook tablet for about 3 months and in the last couple days when rebooting my tablet it's not finding my 32g sd card.I thought it was my video player not finding my torrent files but when going to my file manager it's also not finding it, It only finds it when I remove my card then put it back in. And even then my video player says there are no files.... is there something I can do to fix this problem?
UPDATE: so I found a file in my file manager called .nomedia it was 0.00 mb I deleted that file and everything is working just fine, actually things seem to be working faster all around. Does anyone know what that file is? I use torrent on my NT could it have come from that?
There is good info at this link.

Thank you that explained everything. I appreciate your help.

Can't get sd card to load anymore. Nook Tablet 16gb
I have a SD card that has CM7, Team-B (from Ray Waldo), and it has been working perfectly fine, (with the occasional app shut downs that I experience on my phone leading me to believe it is the apps), for the last almost 4 months…..until last night. I have searched for hours for answers on this site as well as others, and nothing (forgive me if this is somewhere else or should be someone where else). Maybe someone can suggest something. I left my nook tablet running the Android/sd card side, and later when I touched the “n” it was on the Nook side. I turned it completely off and it loaded the xda green man, flashed black, then proceeded to load the nook side. I can’t seem to get it to load the Android side from the sd card again. After all the reading, I tried to load it while having my nook tablet 16gb plugged into the computer with the issued usb cord, it didn't work. I am not sure if the sd card is corrupted since I saw some files in it on the computer, and it was working just 20 mins before and I didn't remove it without having the device off. Did B&N automatically load an update to block Android cards? Thanks for assisting me with this.
Ok so tonight, I decided to clean up my SD card. I had noticed that some how I had 1500 pics on my internal SD card, SO I moved them over to my external one and cleaned everything up a bit, combining all the folders. Now when I go into my phone and SD card, all the pics are TINY in size. LIke if the pic before was the size of the screen, now its 1x1 inch. I use wallpaper wizzadrii to set my wallpapers and its setting them all for TINY as well.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
you probably copied the thumbnails
I did now what?

If you deleted the actual pictures and are just now stuck with the thumbnails try an app called DiskDigger. It'll find your deleted photos if it was just recently done. It won't go as far back as a PC would. But give it a shot. Oh yea, must be rooted for it I believe.

I wouldn't use an android app, I'd connect the phone to a PC, mount it, then use Recuva to scan it.

going to try that now.
Also, I just realized that all the pics were on my internal storage. I know I never set it up that way. I have always put them on my SD card. For future reference, how do i get everything to be automatically saved to the external SD card?
You mentioned that you cleaned up the images by copying them from your internal SD to your external one - if what you're trying doesn't work, do you remember which folder the files came from? You can just move them back but I have a sinking feeling that you're going to go to your Gallery and when you review your images, you'll see a bunch of white boxes with and 'x' inside which indicates that you're missing the image that was where it was supposed to be when the Gallery accessed your photos. I did something similar a while ago, trying to consolidate photos into a folder on my SD and when I moved the files, I had the white boxes I mentioned. The fastest way to fix the issue is to move ALL images off your SD, go to Gallery, erase ALL, then mount the SD card onto the PC and move images back onto the SD, go to Gallery, and let the thumbnails regenerate.
It's a pain but if you do this once, you'll not do it by accident again. Android does something similar to Apple's iTunes. You can have files in several folders and the program will 'find them' for you but if you move them, you can cause yourself quite a headache.
Good luck!

The app I posted works fine, I've used it before. It looks for only photos whole recuva will find any file ever...
For setting it to external SD that's an option in the camera
Another program you can try is testdisk. It's free and it has recovered everything I've ever needed and then some. I've accessed files on a drive that both windows and OS X told me was not formatted. Got all 450gb off of it and could also retrieve tons of deleted files. It's a computer app, not a phone app.
Hey all.
Right, so I have a problem.
I have a Kingston 16 GB Mixro SD Card I purchased from amazon. I recently transferred some .mkv anime fils over to it, using the USB cable and MTP mode. Worked fine, the files played flawlessly in MX Player.
Then I wanted to play them on my Note 10.1, cause of the bigger screen and front facing speakers, I thought it'd be a better experience. I setup MX Player on my Note 10.1, unmounted my SD Card from my S3 and mounted it into the Note 10.1.
The files weren't playing properly, so I unmounted it from the Note and mounted it into my S3 again. All was well. So I thought.
I went to the gallery, only to find that, instead of giving me the folder overviews like it usually did, it gave me black boxes without and folder names either! So I closed it, stopped it using the app manager within settings and I tried to open it again. No luck.
So I cleared the data of both the Gallery and Camera apps and it worked for a brief moment. And froze again. So I decided to search about and found a thread on a forum. The person had similar issues to what I had, but his device was set to unofficial, despite the fact he said he hadn't rooted it or anything. So I looked at my device status.
Lo and behold, it said unofficial, despite the fact I hadn't even installed the damned xda forum app on it, let alone use ChainFire's rooting mastery on it! The forum said that booting without an SD Card fixes this. So I did, and it worked. But I tried to put my SD Card back in, as it contains all my data, but Gallery kept freezing on me.
What the hell is going on?!?!
CONDENSED VERSION:
Wanted to.play some files from my SD on my Note 10.1, didn't play properly. Put the SD Card back in and Gallery freezes and device status is modified. Help?

does the sdcard work properly on the pc? try formatting it and put it on fat32 file system.
if i were on your place i would just do a factory reset and flash the same stock rom from odin(on both devices). that way you can isolate the problem, the sdcard.
Fixed the issues, backed up my photos, music & text messages and formatted the crap out of the card. Copied data back on, rebooted & voila, Gallery is working again and its back of 'official' status
Thanks for the advice any way Pita

Long story short: Just got my M8 so it is 100% stock, no mods, nothing. I copied my pictures and music from my M7 to an SD card and popped it in the M8. Go to load up the HTC music app, nothing. Go to Google Play music, still nothing. Go to Gallery, even more nothing.
The weird part is that ES File Explorer recognizes and can read the SD card just fine (Not write but I know that's a whole separate ball game), the storage section in settings reports everything correctly. I can even take a picture and move that to the external SD card using the Gallery app and it'll come up just fine, but I then tried moving one of my old pictures I had taken on my M7 into the same folder as the lone picture I took with the M8 and nada, only the new picture shows up. Any particular step I'm missing here?
Found the problem, I'll post the solution here just in case anyone else has the same issue (doubt it but still):
I somehow managed to have a ".nomedia" file in the root of my SD card. Deleting it fixed everything.
