Hey guys, I cant find an answer for this question anywhere so I will have to ask you...
So, I recently bought an Xperia S and I have this strange problem that when I am on a cellular network (edge,3g) my apps CANT get internet conection BUT, I CAN browse the web via Browser. This doesnt happen when I am on wifi.
Can someone please help? Btw, I am not rooted nor unlocked.
I think here some troubles with settings, or you just not allowed apps to access cellular data. Try reset them.
Yes probably the apn settings.

Thanks!
Ok, thanx guys but may I ask HOW to reset the internet or apn settings?

Probably it's off by default for some regions or something.
Still doesnt work after I reset the apn settings to default and my backround apps thing is on. I dont know what to put in the new apn settings (when I create a new one) Should I ask my network provider? And If so, what should I ask him? That my internet works only in my browser not in my apps? Or what?
BTW, thanx for the replies.
Yes call your network provider they will send you the settings by sms or they will tell you what to do.

Hi,
I purchased my phone in Canada, proceded to unlock it as well as install Jusada's awesome ice cream Sunday final rom.
I had 3G connectivity in Canada but now that I'm in South Africa, i purchased a Vodacom SIM card but can only connect to the EDGE network, no 3G.
I know that the 3G frequencies here are 2100 & 900. I think it might have to do with my baseband but I have no idea which one I should switch to.
My current baseband is S5830DTLKI4. I also attached a screenshot of my about phone page if it helps.

I'm here on vacation! I like this place I always miss Biltong.
I flashed MODEM_S5830XWKP7_CL407346_REV03 to the phone via ODIN but it is still only connecting to the EDGE network...
Are there any other basebands that would work on the following frequencies:
GSM 900/1800
3G 2100/900
I think you maybe should setup a APN for Vodacom. Find it in Google.

I got the APN settings directly from a Vodacom rep. They told me if I can connect to the EDGE network, the apn settings are correct...

This may be the case until the official JB Release comes out. But I would proably try the suggestions in the thread that has been mentioned.

I have looked into it for you some more and in the actual Rom file for the Carrier Label there is no entry for EE so when an official release is released I guess they will patch it

Probably 1000th time that someone ask this but...
Can't start tapatalk cause ""Directory is currently unavailable. It may be due to your carrier APN settings, or you have installed network altering software such as AdBlock" message
on ICS rom's worked fine but after update to JB i got problem. Same problem have on stock JB (france), and on Slim (witch I'm using)
I dont have any AdBlock app.
Tried every version of tapatalk out there and i have same problem. With and without card, pull out battery est... no luck
Intresting thing is that Convo works without problem and he is based on Tapatalk. Forum runner also working without problem
Is it possible that i have problem because i have i9100G, cause i know ppl with same carrier using tapatalk w/o problems ?

When I got this error, all I had to do was clear data of the Tapatalk app. Seems you've had a heap more trouble than that. Have you checked your APN settings? If there is a proxy in the APN you use, try deleting it (make a note of what it is first).
Tried deleting proxy but no luck

I succeeded to sign in to XDA in this way: from mail where I receive notification about sucsribed topic I have followed link and chose to open with tapalalk. But this does not working for another forum.
Noticed that I can't turn off proxy (I erase it but after I reenter I see it again).
Wipe Tapatalk cashe doesn't help, and I can't race APN proxy.
Any suggestion ?

I have a Galaxy Note 2, using Tapatalk 2 and everything was fine and dandy all day.. I just tried to view a few posts and I'm getting the
"directory is currently unavailable . it may due to your carrier APN setting...etc." error... I Check my APN Settings for verizon and I have no proxy set up... I tried to clear tapatalk Cache... no joy... clear data ...no joy... UNINSTALL Tapatalk, reboot, reinstall and still no Joy... frankly, I'm out of Joy...any thoughts...?
Thanks in advanced... I'm not sure what gives all of a sudden...
Since last 4 days, I am not able to login in my Main Tapatalk app. I am using proper username and password and it simply throws back the following error - "ConnectionError".
I request Senior Devs to help me if they know the cause of this problem and solution. @tapatalk can you help me here if you guys are on this forum?
I have attached the screenshot to explain it better.
Thanks!

See on APN's file if Your operator is there. It is on /etc/apns-conf.xml
The APN's are classified by operator number. This is MCC-MNC 23415 on screenshot example.
