I've just update my camera firmware from GDFD06 to GDFE01, that was hidden within the camera firmware screen ie *#34971539#
I haven't notice anything different, still can't use camera while recording video with Anti Shake on, also this new firmware has put 1 in the write count aswell.
Right so im wondering what camera firmware do other have, and do you suffer the same problem were you can't take a picture while recording video with Anti Shake on?
Mine is ZDFE02
mine is zdfe02 also
The camera is designed to not let you take a picture and record at the same time if anti-shake is on, it's not a fault.
Edit my versions are like the op
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
zdfe02, too
Got ZDFE02 but I'm not interested in that because all I want is for Samsung to allow stills to be taken when anti shake is turned on, because I always use anti shake to get the best video so that feature is useless to me if something unexpected happens and I want a still without having to extract a frame at a quarter the resolution.
Mine's GDFD06
Carphone Warehouse Unlocked Pebble Blue
I don't get anything when I enter that code into the dialer. (shrug)
i was accidentally click the second option "phone to CAM FW Write"..
before:
Cam FW Ver : GDFD06
Phone FW Ver : GDFE01
after:
Cam FW Ver : GDFE01
Phone FW Ver : GDFE01
then when i click FW Write Count it show
Rear (0:1)
Front (0:0)
So, my question is,
1. is it okay to replace camera fw with phone fw?
2. what side effect will occur?
3. how to chage back to old cam fw?
4. what fw write counter actually really do? did I void my warranty? can I reset it to 0?
And why won't the code work for me? Is there another camera code?
WTF did i do ?

1.Yes it's ok
2.Depending on the differences between firmwares
3.You have to find your old cam firmware. (/system/etc/firmware/rm***.bin
4.Just tell you how much times flash your cam firmware. The easiest method is to go to Settings - Application Manager - choose tab "All" - and find the FactoryTest.apk and just do a clear data. Or do a factory data reset (Hard Reset).
Thank's
ZDFE02 - had to go into log-cat to get it. That code doesn't work!
Updating to that firmware that was hidden in the menu hasn't done any harm to either video or the camera so don't worry, it's obvious it's an update as when you press it again it says upto date.
Least one thing the Galaxy S3, doesn't suffer from the low light stutter that plauged some Galaxy S2 owner's which myself was included that had the Samsung Camera module, were the ones with Sony camera modules, didn't have this problem plus quicker focusing as well.
It be intresting to see if Samung bring any firmware's out for the Galaxy S3 camera in the future.
Yeah, that code doesn't work for mee too. Is there another code to enable a dev mode?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
So we have upto now ZD & GD, with ZD being the most common one, so it looks like they might be using different camera module's in the Galaxy S3, like they did with the Galaxy S2.
my rear cam is messed up, i tried to flas siyah on a JB rom and think its thats the why its banjaxed, just get the "error unknown in errorcallback", so I updated cam FW from ZDFE02 to ZDFF03 through the menu but still no good. Cant find a fix anywhere for it, ive wiped everything inc formatting internal SD, took it back to Stock ROM but still no joy, Does anyone have any idea of hw i cn fix this before i send it back to samsung??? PLEASE, cos i cant be without me S3 for a week or 2. lol
I found that there is another update: GDFF03
Does anybody tried it yet ?
LE: Nevermind, updated...
Hey, guys! My Cam FW is ZDFF02, but the Phone FW is ZDFF03. However, I cannot update it as the Phone to Cam FW Write button is grayed out. Any thoughts?

And after rooting and again updating to the latest version when the phone booted up for the first time it showed NFC firmware is updating plz don't switch off the phone and that also was successful
So was just wondering if this a bug with the firmware or something wrong at my end..... can someone plz confirm the same with this version of firmware on his phone

It still would not appear. I think its a software problem for non LTE XZU. I tried flashing a LTE ftf to my C6802 and NFC icon is there But upon going back to non LTE ftf or to the origina firmware version, l NFC does not appear again.

You can use flashtool to flash a FTF
(there is a Thread at the top of the general section whwre you can find all avaliable FTFs for Z2)
(flashtool from > flashtool.net)
Hint~ holding volume down is flashmode, volume up is fastboot
if you need anything just reply, i assume your competent enough to figure out the simple parts

Gee thanks dude ! I owe you one
just one question though ... how can I know what was my previous version to flash ? or it doesn't matter ? I just choose which one I want ?
If it does matter ... how can I know what to choose and if it doesn't then what should I choose ?
PS : I am already familiar with all the XDA stuff , (rooting unlocking boot loaders , "customizing" and all that).. but I am new on Sony products I don't want to break any thing haHA

No I know how to find my current build , I am just wondering , there are different versions of the same version , for example : there are 12 regions or more that have one version , which region should I use as my region doesnt show in the list ... I am from Israel and I dont see any Israel word in the list XD
so I can choose careless of my region ? like if I choose 314 UK will it work properly ? or how does that work exactly ?
If you've never flashed a different region or firmware, then type the following in your dialer:
*#*#SERVICE#*#*
Then select service info, then software info.
That should tell you what customization number and region you currently have. Then go to the link posted above, and find that same region firmware but for 314

Interesting question my friend
But I dont think its possible , because by downgrading you be using Flashtool and it does wipe every thing (not including photos and other personal stuff if youre backed up with an SD card in your phone ...) but to be honest I dont know any other way that doesnt wipe any thing if you find out let me know
PS : I did downgrade , and it did wipe the whole phone storage

Hi everybody,
I got my hands on a Z5 Compact Prototype (really cool, it has xx MP written on the back and a few other quirks), otherwise it's a completely normal phone. The model is still E5823, customization 1298-7258 R5B and current software 32.0.A.4.11 (5.0.1).
I'm wondering, is it possible to flash the latest Nougat or at least a MM stock ROM using the Sony Mobile Flasher? I'm asking because I'm afraid I might brick it (I never flashed a ROM in the Mobile Flasher beforehand). The drivers look OK, it is detected as an ADB device.
Also, is there any way to backup the current ROM and to revert to it later if needed? I tried the Xperia Companion/Repair my Sony but I don't think it works on this new version.
Thanks in advance.

Are you rooted? If you are you can try and take the build.prop from a retail unit firmware and replace yours with it. This way you will avoid hard bricking it. Also, take note of the firmware you are running and download Xperifirm (there you can check which exactly it is and download new firmwares directly). Xperia Companion might not work because 1) you are running a pre-release ROM and 2) differences in actual unit. *IF* it's the second one, I'd be very careful (tho with Flashtool you should be fine, Sony phones are hard to hard brick).
EDIT: You can compare the build.prop files and use common sense to find out whether it will be of any use to actually replace it..

Thanks for the tips.
I managed to flash a stock E5823 32.2.A.0.305 firmware (6.0.1) and it works perfectly. It's just that it detects an OTA Update for the 32.2.A.5.11 but it cannot install it; looks like flashing with Flashtool is the only option. I guess I'll wait for a stable 7.0 and I'll flash it afterwards.

This is excellent news! Since it's a prototype the FOTA partitions might not have been set up or don't work properly (if you have a saved Flashtool log you might be able to see which it is, although they should be fine since flashing hasn't failed ) but that's ok since you can use Flashtool. Are you going to root it? Also, Nougat is out, so be sure to root before you update :fingers-crossed: :fingers-crossed:
I've already flashed the latest (.378) Nougat build and it works great, just like before.
I know that there were some problems with root on Nougat. I don't really need root access because I don't use the device as a daily driver, but if I'd like to get root access I need to revert to MM via Flashtool? Can I still do that now?
PS: You can see a review of it with MM installed right here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-compact/general/short-review-sony-z5-compact-prototype-t3555140

but the problem is i go to flash it and flash tools newest version ask me to enter flash mode. i did but it did not go i do not know why, anyone knows why it cant be flash? do i need to install any drivers? or anything else to flash it? or it just need to wait for flashtools to update support for my device first? thanks in advance
Hi!
I have Swedish (got this info when calling sony care) single sim Xperia X. I rebuy it with android 7.0 preinstalled (34.2.A.0.292 SI: 1302-6122_R5C).
From first run I can't see option to use fingerprint scanner in settings -> security, tried factory reset, Xperia Companion repair, even sign to concept program to see if installing concept build will help... It want.
After installing concept build, in settings (sugestions cathegory which sometimes appears in top of settings app) entry for protect device with fingerprint scanner appears, but after click on it settings app hangs. Also, like in official build, there is no entry in security tab.
I contacted sony and they told me to send device for repair, but I realy don't think it's hardware problem.
When repairing phone with Xperia Companion, I saw that FW files were unpacked into folder C:\programdata\sony mobile\update engine\localstorage\US
Is this mean Xperia Companion installs US version of FW??

Which firmware do you use?
I had this problem, it was a hardware issue. They replaced my phone.
You can try shutting down your phone and turn it on by pressing the power button hard (not too hard so you don't damage it). After that i usually had fingerprint option, but it lasted only for a short while and it wasn't very accurate.

Hi all,
I ended up getting a phone from a foreign region (Taiwan - I live in the UK), since I couldn't find the 8gb version from a UK seller.
The phone came with the tamper seals broken
https://imgur.com/a/pSd9yoZ
and seemingly had a screen protector on it (I don't know if it was the factory film, but it seemed too hardy to be that).
https://www.onbuy.com/gb/unlocked-a...s-5g-dual-sim-256gb-8gb-ram~c12871~p52964453/
The phone is listed as Unlocked and New.
It seems that the seller sold a used device as new? Or would they have had to unpack the device to network unlock it?
I installed https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck&gl=GB which gives a "Sorry! Root access is not propertly installed on this device." message.
Also, booting the phone in download mode gives the line: "WARRANTY VOID : 0x0", so it seems Knox hasn't been tripped.
Does this mean the phone is safe to use without fear of malware?
Will things like Samsung pay work if the phone is from a different region (with Knox still intact)?
Should I flash a fresh stock ROM? (I've never done this before)
If so, would it have to be a Taiwanese one? (with matching CSC region)
Thanks!
Arobase40 said:
The tamper seals broken is normal if the seller added a film protection...
I have no experience with phones from Taiwan, but I bought my Galaxy Note9 with 512 GB storage to a dealer from Hong-Kong but the Note9 came from an Australian carrier (unlocked though)... lol
I flashed a XEF French firmware and all is fine till now.
No need to flash a firmware from Taiwan as you can use any firmware you wish so if any malware it should be erase, and don't forget to use the normal CSC and not the HOME_CSC, so it will switch the Taïwan CSC to your UK CSC...
You can also remove most bloatwares with adb commands without being root.
But be aware Samsung Pay doesn't work in every countries of the world, so be sure it is working in your country.

Ok. But will this break Knox? Will it disable features like Samsung Pay?
How will updates be affected?
edit: the 256gb/8gb RAM model doesn't exist in the EU/UK. So if I use a UK firmware, can this cause errors? (UK has only 128GB/6GB RAM).
If you still feel insecure you can keep the Taẅan firmware but you will be on your own... ^^

Arobase40 said:
Since this is original and genuine firmware from Samsung, there should be not problem and no issue at all.
As I said if Samsung Pay is working in the UK, there should also be no problem !
Just use PC Odin which is also an official tool used in the official Samsung Repair centers.
As far I know Taïwan receives International firmwares.
There was also no Galaxy Note9 with 512GB storage in France and I never encounter any trouble with Samsung firmwares.

I will. I will wait to see if the seller can explain why the box was not sealed. If I do not get a reply in few days I will try flash the UK unlocked firmware (CSC: BTU). This is the correct firmware for UK (unlocked), yes?

I don't think you should waist your time with the seal as obviously this is due to the screen protection and as "WARRANTY VOID : 0x0", but do as you wish...

- WARRANTY VOID : 0x0
Then all is fine !
But if you have :
- CURRENT BINARY : "Custom (0xxxx)
- OEM LOCK : OFF (U)
- WARRANTY VOID : 0x1
Then you are in trouble...
BTW can you confirm the actual CSC ?

I have all that in Download mode - so there has been no root access?
The CSC is A528BBRI1AUL2 which appears to be the 1 December 21 security update (I installed this because I thought it would be safer to connect to WiFi with the latest version).
Edit: what can happen if I keep the Taiwan CSC? You said can be problems with my phone call plan??

A528BBRI1AUL2 : is NOT the CSC. It should be 3 Letters or 2 letters with a number as BTU is the UK CSC...
Should be in the "Carrier software version" or something like that as I don't have an English firmware version.
About keeping Taiwan CSC, I said could be problem with your phone call plan as your actual UK carrier may think you are calling from Taïwan and may charge you extra fees... lol
This is just a hypothesis, a guess...
But come on, you have all the steps and tools to do this safely so don't be so scary...

CSC is BRI (A528BBRI1AUL2)
I will post here if I decide to flash BTU CSC. I can't find any information of someone who flashed BTU on BRI device, so I am worried that it might cause issues. I am a n00b so I don't know what the problems can be.

You shouldn't be too worried about switching firmware, as long as you're doing it the right way. There might be one or two small things you'll need to set when you switch firmwares due to different configs, but you should be good to go.
Odin only flashes the firmware if it sees that everything is set right, otherwise the firmware won't be flashed which virtually removes most troubles you would otherwise face in more universal flash tools.
But do it when you feel like it, watch plenty of videos on how to do it so that you know exactly how the process goes on.
Other than that, the others have pretty much told you everything there is to know. I wouldn't worry about the broken seals since the phone looks to be on official software with Knox intact. I would flash it with a clean firmware though just to be 100% that there no nasty on it!
Edit: Since you are a newbie to this, make sure you get the right firmware for your phone. The A52 has so many variants, the A525F, A525M, A526B, A526U1, A528B and there might be more. Make sure you know your's by looking for the Model Number in the About Phone section at the foot of the settings app.

The full model name is SM-A528BZKIBRI. How do I know if a particular CSC will be compatible?
Arobase40 said:
When you use Frija, for the Model name you just have to type SM-A528B and for the CSC, type BTU, then click on Check Update. it will show you the latest firmware available. Simply click on Download and then put it in the folder of your choice.
It may take a while depending on your internet speed. You will find a zip file with 5 files inside. So you just have to unzip it, before you can use PC Odin to flash them.
In you case, you have to use the CSC_OMC_XXXXXX and not the HOME_CSC_XXXXX as you want to convert the BRI CSC to BTU CSC.

Thanks. So I can type any region's CSC as long as I put the model as SM-A528B and the files will be compatible?
Doesn't matter that BRI isn't in the same multi-csc (OXM) that BTU is in?

Pretty much yeah.
Arobase40 said:
NOPE, as all CSC won't be compatible as all countries aren't using the same network frequencies and VoLTE or VoWifi aren't supported everywhere and some frequencies won't be compatible and thus won't work !
One time I downloaded and flashed an Indian firmware to get phone call recorder function and my french carrier charged me different SMS I didn't send myself !!! ^^
So I had to flash back a local firmware to get rid of this problem !!! ^^

Also, is it a problem that I downloaded the December Security Update already? (Now factory reset just takes it back to December update, not older).
